This restaurant is tucked in an not so easy to spot location but don't be deterred. It's staffed by what I assume is the family that runs the place and on both occasions we were treated very well. It's a cozy atmosphere, it doesn't feel like you need to be all dressed up to fit in. Now the food. My wife and I have been here twice. Once for lunch last week and tonight for dinner. On both occasions the food was outstanding. We were treated by a combination of fresh ingredients, a chefs eye towards delicious flavor profiles, great execution, and fair prices. Certainly keen to come back. I'd recommend the ceviche for an appetizer and if you're feeling spicy ask for the house hot sauce. It's a roasted habanero and it's awesome. For lunch I had the shrimp tacos and they were great also. I feel like I'm gushing here, but the rack of lamb and scallops were both also amazing dinner entrees as well. Only two $$ listed for this place is inappropriate; every dinner item on the menu was $30 or above. So prepare to be a bit swindled, cuz those $30+ plates also aren't gonna be whopping portions. It's the whole "oh it's upscale so less is more" concept. And listen, yes, the lamb was amazingly tasty, as were the veggies that came with it. I'm definitely not saying the food wasn't good; it was excellent, it just sorta felt like a rip-off? And the chocolate torte the four of us shared at the end was also REALLY yummy (but $10 for a small slice w/ a scoop of vanilla, so it better be). If you've got money to blow, by all means, but for the majority of us, this ain't it. I was sincerely dubious the moment we drove up. The place is in a hole-in-the-wall run-down strip mall and the parking lot is full of potholes. The Chinese place right beside it looks like they haven't replaced their signage in thirty years, or maybe they're outta business. When we proceeded inside I could tell the owners had done their best to convert a crappy space into something roleplaying as modern and fancy. It felt a little out of place. The ambiance wasn't all that stellar (which is normally not something I much bother commenting on, but again if you're gonna charge thirty bucks a plate, I begin to factor in more nit-picky things like that); there wasn't any music or anything to cover up the perpetual mechanical hum that seemed to emanate from the kitchen? The bathrooms had a similar kind of "gloss" over it. I was unimpressed that the men's was just a unisex stall without a urinal or anything that actually makes it "men's." Like, just convert your two single stall bathrooms into gender-neutral or all-gender (literally all that takes is swapping signage) so people aren't "waiting" for the "correct gendered toilet" when there's zero difference between the two. It's 2026, y'all. We don't need to practice pointless segregation. Service was reasonably quick, food was hot. The server did a good job of keeping up with my in-laws' unslakeable thirst for iced tea. Everyone was polite enough to us. This is a nice neighborhood spot, off the beaten path, that offers good food and really good service. At noon on a weekday, it was pretty busy with diners. I only noticed two servers taking care of everyone, and as busy as it was, I never felt forgotten. Our servers were friendly, efficient, helpful, and very welcoming. The meal was tasty. I got the Lomo Saltado lunch entree. The rice was seasoned lightly but deliciously. The beef included bell peppers and onions which paired nicely with the rice. The salad was supposed to include a vinaigrette, but I didn't notice anything. Nevertheless it was fine, as was the yuca which had a little green coating. The tres Leche was very good, and had a little toasted coconut on top. I would definitely get again. This is in a part of town I'm not familiar with so I would have never known it was there had my friend nor suggested it. That said I would return and recommend it to others. read more

The owner greeted us at the door! Super friendly guy. He stopped what he was doing, and escorted us in the door and to a table. Our food came quickly. The refills were plentiful, and the service was attentive. My friend had a wedge salad, which he said was fantastic. I had a bowl of lentil soup. Boy was it good. You can tell that the owners truly care about Cahill Bistro with fresh flowers at each table, truly homemade food and wholesome ingredients, and super friendly service. I got the Chips and Guacamole as an appetizer and it was super yummy and the guacamole was very fresh, which I loved. For my main I got the Tacos de Carne with beef, which featured steak with red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and homemade avocado tomatillo salsa. We went for lunch, and I got the walleye (5/5), which was great! It had a nice, crunchy crust and wonderful flavor. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were also excellent! Cahill Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities, and for good reason! The food, the service, and the ambience are five stars across the board. Owned and operated by three brothers, this family-owned restaurant serves incredible Ecuadorian and Mexican-inspired dishes. If you visit, you'll most likely be greeted and served by one of the owners, who treat you like family--wholesome and genuinely high-quality hospitality without doing too much. The service provided and the love poured into the food are comparable to none. I've frequented this restaurant several times, throughout several years, and I've never had a bad experience or a bad meal. Some of my favorite dishes here include: - Empanadas de Carne or Vegetariana: Beef or vegetable empanadas. These empanadas are pan-fried corn dough, stuffed with your choice of tender, juicy, perfectly cooked braised beef or fresh vegetables. The empanadas are served on a bed of roasted tomato salsa and crema casera. The crispiness and warmth of the empanadas, combined with the tanginess of the sauces, make this dish my absolute favorite. If you're undecided in the appetizer section, this would be the one thing I would absolutely make sure you order. - The guacamole is made with fresh avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, roasted tomato, salsa, and served with crispy corn chips. It is one of their top-selling items as it is made fresh to order, and absolutely delicious as such. - The shrimp ceviche is another favorite! Made with a blend of tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and citrus juice, this ceviche is both juicy and packed with tons of flavor. It's the perfect light and refreshing appetizer. - The Tostones and fried yucca, each crispy and crunchy, are also excellent options for sharing or nibbling solo before your main dish. - The Carne Asada is one of my go-to lunches when I visit. Overnight, marinated steak is grilled to perfection and served with achiote (yellow, seasoned) rice, black bean purée, French fries, and a small house salad. It's good comfort food cooked with love and an incredible amount of - The Lomo saltado dish is sautéed beef tips that are very tender, rich, and flavorful. The combination with the red onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes is sensational. Paired with an achiote (yellow, seasoned) rice that waters your mouth, as well as a side house salad served with a tangy lime vinaigrette that will blow you away. - The Mexican Tres leches is my absolute favorite version! I've tried several, not all, across the Twin Cities, and this is always easily my favorite. A homemade cake soaked with a blend of three milks, whipped cream, caramel chocolate, and topped with crispy coconut flakes. This dessert is decadent as it is delicious. In addition to these dishes, Cahill Bistro offers happy hour Sunday-Thursday from 3:00-5:30pm with specials on appetizers and drinks. They also have daily soup specials and brunch on Saturdays. I am lucky. I've spent a week (7 nights in the hospital) at Mayo and surgeons removed many NET tumors. 2 nights ago I arrived home having not eaten nor even much hydration. Tonight I put on some loose pants, loose shirt, slippers and made my way to an amazing local bistro - Our Cahill Bistro. While some may poo-poo the ambiance, it's in an older strip mall...the proveyors are brothers, and it's a family affair. My wife and I were able to briefly celebrate 36 years of marriage, and never had to worry about the food. It is amazing. From the salad that we shared, to my walleye and my wife's scallops - every bite was divine. My stomach isn't prefect yet - so my diet is fairly limited. And appetite not quite 100%. I've eaten dinner here before and the food is always good! This is an Ecuadorian-style bistro owned by 2 brothers - one is front of the house and the other is the chef. I had a business lunch, and based on reviews, we both ordered the Lomo Saltado, sauteed beef tips with red onion, tomatoes, bell peppers, served with achiote rice and balsamic greens. The food is always delicious and plentiful enough that I didn't need dessert. The menu was a little bit confusing because I wasn't sure if this was an Italian restaurant or a Mexican restaurant since both cuisines were represented on the menu. Either way, the food (the chips and guac, the empanadas, and the lobster pasta) were fantastic. My favorite item was the chips and guacamole...wow it was delicious. The chips were warm and fresh and the guacamole was so flavorful and seasoned well. The lobster pasta was delicious too. There was a decent amount of lobster for the dish. I wish there was some sort of bread to help sop up the delicious sauce which would have made this a perfect meal. It's a pretty casual ambience, but it has an upscale menu. I don't even know where to begin--let's just start with this: absolutely fantastic! Don't hesitate to dine at this wonderful restaurant. From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly in the middle of the bustling dining room. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, filled with families enjoying themselves while the attentive staff moved quickly between tables. Despite the crowd, service was impressively smooth. We began with a glass of Pinot Noir (California) and a Delas wine (Italian), along with an order of Empanadas De Carne. The wine arrived within minutes, followed shortly by the appetizer--and wow, the empanadas were mouthwatering! The crispy shell, the perfectly seasoned meat and vegetables--it was a flavor explosion. I instantly wished we had ordered eight more, and honestly, I was tempted to get some to-go. For our main courses, we chose the Filete De Lomo and the Achiote Chicken. The descriptions sounded promising, and the dishes more than delivered. As we sipped our wine and tried to ignore our kids' nonstop texts (any other parents relate?), our meals arrived--and the presentation was stunning. My Filete was perfection. The sauce paired with the tender steak so beautifully that each bite felt like a masterpiece. I didn't want it to end! I restrained myself from licking the plate... barely. My wife's Achiote Chicken was just as impressive--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. No wonder she wouldn't share more than one bite! Of course, we had to end the night with dessert. We ordered the Tres Leches and the Flan--because diets can wait. The short wait was worth every second. The Tres Leches was moist, layered, and absolutely divine, while the Flan was so creamy and delicious that I joked about wanting to take a bath in it. Yes, it was that good. Went here for a date night with my husband on a Friday night. It was surprisingly empty, based on the rave reviews found here. The place is very tucked away in a strip mall, sort of behind another business. The ambiance is definitely casual, with a couple of tables out front to eat outside of you prefer. One couple was there enjoying the warm spring weather with their dog, so the place is dog friendly outside. The inside is what you might expect in a strip mall restaurant, with some nice touches, like pretty plants and real flowers in vases on the tables. The service was friendly and welcoming - you can tell its a family run business, with everyone helping out. We ordered a drink for me- a spicy mango margarita, which was SO fun and good. For appetizer, we ordered the tostones- not to be missed! Large portion of smashed and fried rounds of plantains, with chimichurri and a lemon aoili sauce that was different and so yummy! We decided to share a large wedge salad and because of one rave review, we tried the Lomo Saltado for our entrée, which is a beef tips and bell peppers dish. The salad was good, with lots of blue cheese and bacon, and the Lomo Saltado was pretty good - tender beef, but cut up beey small, which wasn't what I'd expected. The staff kindly split the food on separate plates, so keep that in mind when looking at my photos. Overall, I would say this place is a bit of a hidden gem - definitely worth coming back again for the drinks and tostones! read more

My wife and I decided to finally give the Cahill Bistro a try a few weeks ago and boy, oh boy! The restaurant is located in a super unassuming spot in a strip mall type setting that made me think twice that maybe I had arrived at the wrong place when we first pulled up. Upon entering the door, it felt welcoming and looked pleasantly nice, but not overly gaudy or garish. The menu options were plentiful and therefore, we had many entree selections to choose from. Most everything looked so tempting and interesting. Service was welcoming and impeccable and everything starting from our first bites of our salads to our main dishes, and throughout dessert was delicious and perfectly prepared. Speaking of desserts, their Tres Leches cake was hands down, the best rendition of that dessert that I've ever tasted. I am so grateful that we experienced this hidden gem.
