This restaurant is tucked in an not so easy to spot location but don't be deterred. It's staffed by what I assume is the family that runs the place and on both occasions we were treated very well. It's a cozy atmosphere, it doesn't feel like you need to be all dressed up to fit in. Now the food. My wife and I have been here twice. Once for lunch last week and tonight for dinner. On both occasions the food was outstanding. We were treated by a combination of fresh ingredients, a chefs eye towards delicious flavor profiles, great execution, and fair prices. Certainly keen to come back. I'd recommend the ceviche for an appetizer and if you're feeling spicy ask for the house hot sauce. It's a roasted habanero and it's awesome. For lunch I had the shrimp tacos and they were great also. I feel like I'm gushing here, but the rack of lamb and scallops were both also amazing dinner entrees as well. Owned and operated by three brothers, this family-owned restaurant serves incredible Ecuadorian and Mexican-inspired dishes. If you visit, you'll most likely be greeted and served by one of the owners, who treat you like family--wholesome and genuinely high-quality hospitality without doing too much. The service provided and the love poured into the food are comparable to none. I've frequented this restaurant several times, throughout several years, and I've never had a bad experience or a bad meal. Some of my favorite dishes here include: - Empanadas de Carne or Vegetariana: Beef or vegetable empanadas. These empanadas are pan-fried corn dough, stuffed with your choice of tender, juicy, perfectly cooked braised beef or fresh vegetables. The empanadas are served on a bed of roasted tomato salsa and crema casera. The crispiness and warmth of the empanadas, combined with the tanginess of the sauces, make this dish my absolute favorite. If you're undecided in the appetizer section, this would be the one thing I would absolutely make sure you order. - The guacamole is made with fresh avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, roasted tomato, salsa, and served with crispy corn chips. It is one of their top-selling items as it is made fresh to order, and absolutely delicious as such. - The shrimp ceviche is another favorite! Made with a blend of tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and citrus juice, this ceviche is both juicy and packed with tons of flavor. It's the perfect light and refreshing appetizer. - The Tostones and fried yucca, each crispy and crunchy, are also excellent options for sharing or nibbling solo before your main dish. - The Carne Asada is one of my go-to lunches when I visit. Overnight, marinated steak is grilled to perfection and served with achiote (yellow, seasoned) rice, black bean purée, French fries, and a small house salad. It's good comfort food cooked with love and an incredible amount of - The Lomo saltado dish is sautéed beef tips that are very tender, rich, and flavorful. The combination with the red onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes is sensational. Paired with an achiote (yellow, seasoned) rice that waters your mouth, as well as a side house salad served with a tangy lime vinaigrette that will blow you away. - The Mexican Tres leches is my absolute favorite version! I've tried several, not all, across the Twin Cities, and this is always easily my favorite. A homemade cake soaked with a blend of three milks, whipped cream, caramel chocolate, and topped with crispy coconut flakes. This dessert is decadent as it is delicious. In addition to these dishes, Cahill Bistro offers happy hour Sunday-Thursday from 3:00-5:30pm with specials on appetizers and drinks. They also have daily soup specials and brunch on Saturdays. The owner greeted us at the door! Super friendly guy. He stopped what he was doing, and escorted us in the door and to a table. Our food came quickly. The refills were plentiful, and the service was attentive. My friend had a wedge salad, which he said was fantastic. I had a bowl of lentil soup. Boy was it good. I am lucky. I've spent a week (7 nights in the hospital) at Mayo and surgeons removed many NET tumors. 2 nights ago I arrived home having not eaten nor even much hydration. Tonight I put on some loose pants, loose shirt, slippers and made my way to an amazing local bistro - Our Cahill Bistro. While some may poo-poo the ambiance, it's in an older strip mall...the proveyors are brothers, and it's a family affair. My wife and I were able to briefly celebrate 36 years of marriage, and never had to worry about the food. It is amazing. From the salad that we shared, to my walleye and my wife's scallops - every bite was divine. My stomach isn't prefect yet - so my diet is fairly limited. And appetite not quite 100%. I've eaten dinner here before and the food is always good! This is an Ecuadorian-style bistro owned by 2 brothers - one is front of the house and the other is the chef. I had a business lunch, and based on reviews, we both ordered the Lomo Saltado, sauteed beef tips with red onion, tomatoes, bell peppers, served with achiote rice and balsamic greens. The food is always delicious and plentiful enough that I didn't need dessert. Either way, the food (the chips and guac, the empanadas, and the lobster pasta) were fantastic. My favorite item was the chips and guacamole...wow it was delicious. The chips were warm and fresh and the guacamole was so flavorful and seasoned well. The lobster pasta was delicious too. There was a decent amount of lobster for the dish. I wish there was some sort of bread to help sop up the delicious sauce which would have made this a perfect meal. It's a pretty casual ambience, but it has an upscale menu. What an unexpected surprise! I had previously heard about this spot and read some reviews awhile back, but I had no idea what I had been missing. My wife and I decided to finally give the Cahill Bistro a try a few weeks ago and boy, oh boy! The restaurant is located in a super unassuming spot in a strip mall type setting that made me think twice that maybe I had arrived at the wrong place when we first pulled up. Upon entering the door, it felt welcoming and looked pleasantly nice, but not overly gaudy or garish. The menu options were plentiful and therefore, we had many entree selections to choose from. Most everything looked so tempting and interesting. Service was welcoming and impeccable and everything starting from our first bites of our salads to our main dishes, and throughout dessert was delicious and perfectly prepared. Speaking of desserts, their Tres Leches cake was hands down, the best rendition of that dessert that I've ever tasted. I am so grateful that we experienced this hidden gem. We now plan to make it into a regular stop on our favorite dining list! Do yourself a huge favor and check it out for yourself. From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly in the middle of the bustling dining room. We began with a glass of Pinot Noir (California) and a Delas wine (Italian), along with an order of Empanadas De Carne. The wine arrived within minutes, followed shortly by the appetizer--and wow, the empanadas were mouthwatering! The crispy shell, the perfectly seasoned meat and vegetables--it was a flavor explosion. I instantly wished we had ordered eight more, and honestly, I was tempted to get some to-go. For our main courses, we chose the Filete De Lomo and the Achiote Chicken. The descriptions sounded promising, and the dishes more than delivered. As we sipped our wine and tried to ignore our kids' nonstop texts (any other parents relate?), our meals arrived--and the presentation was stunning. My Filete was perfection. The sauce paired with the tender steak so beautifully that each bite felt like a masterpiece. I didn't want it to end! I restrained myself from licking the plate... barely. My wife's Achiote Chicken was just as impressive--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. No wonder she wouldn't share more than one bite! Of course, we had to end the night with dessert. We ordered the Tres Leches and the Flan--because diets can wait. The short wait was worth every second. The Tres Leches was moist, layered, and absolutely divine, while the Flan was so creamy and delicious that I joked about wanting to take a bath in it. Yes, it was that good. Went here for a date night with my husband on a Friday night. It was surprisingly empty, based on the rave reviews found here. The place is very tucked away in a strip mall, sort of behind another business. The ambiance is definitely casual, with a couple of tables out front to eat outside of you prefer. One couple was there enjoying the warm spring weather with their dog, so the place is dog friendly outside. The inside is what you might expect in a strip mall restaurant, with some nice touches, like pretty plants and real flowers in vases on the tables. The service was friendly and welcoming - you can tell its a family run business, with everyone helping out. We ordered a drink for me- a spicy mango margarita, which was SO fun and good. For appetizer, we ordered the tostones- not to be missed! Large portion of smashed and fried rounds of plantains, with chimichurri and a lemon aoili sauce that was different and so yummy! We decided to share a large wedge salad and because of one rave review, we tried the Lomo Saltado for our entrée, which is a beef tips and bell peppers dish. The salad was good, with lots of blue cheese and bacon, and the Lomo Saltado was pretty good - tender beef, but cut up beey small, which wasn't what I'd expected. The staff kindly split the food on separate plates, so keep that in mind when looking at my photos. Found Cahill Bistro online while searching for place to take grandson on his 21st birthday. He is GF and this bistro offers a cadre of GF entrees to choose from, but t the decision to go there was based on their unheard of rating of 4.9 on 334 reviews. It should come as no surprise that the food and service were worthy of that rating. As a birthday surprise they served grandson a complimentary dessert, when server discovered dessert was not GF she brought him one that was. Like the staff the bistro was warm, comforting and inviiting considering its locale. Highly recommend Cahill Bistro. You cannot go wrong by choosing to dine there. I have been wanting to try this place based on the excellent reviews of yelpers! The location is not what you'd expect. It's located in a quiet strip mall behind some apartments. It feels like a ma and pa cafe when you walk in. Although we did make reservations, it was not busy for a Wednesday night and it was seat yourself. We started off with the beef empanadas. They are beautifully presented with the sour cream drizzle over the tops. You get three of them total. I wished the dough was a little softer and flakier. It seemed like they were fried a little too long. They were great flavor either way! Our entrees were the highlights of the meal. The lomo saltado and rack of lamb were superb! The lomo saltado had a savory saucey taste that we just couldn't get enough of. The rack of lamb had a nice chimichurri sauce over it. The chimichurri sauce was a little strong on the parsley but it still combined well with the tender rack of lamb meat. We ended it with the tres leche cake that was recommended by our server. We enjoyed our experience here. The dishes are high quality and presented beautifully but the ambience is causal which I love. The prices are very affordable as well!
