Both were good, I would definitely recommend the carne asada. We also got chips and guac. The guacamole had a strong lime taste and was so unbelievably delicious, I would go back just for the guac. There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and a ton of street parking. The staff were very nice and helpful. We ordered at the kiosk and they brought our food to our table. It looked like the bartender also waits on the tables in the back. There's a section of the restaurant that's a bit loud, but we easily found a spot to sit in a quieter area. read more

The food is pretty decent. I lived in Querétaro, Mexico, and spent 8 years in Phoenix, so I know the difference between authentic and Americanized Mexican food; this is firmly the latter. It's a bit whitewashed and leans more Cal-Mex than anything you'd find in Mexico, but I'm not complaining. I love a good California burrito and asada fries, so this style has its place (especially in Minnesota). Service can be slow. It took us about an hour to get two burritos yesterday and the restaurant didn't look busy. Maybe they were just short staffed. My main issue is the salsa. They limit you to one packet per person, and it's not the slightest bit spicy. And where are the limes? This place desperately needs a salsa bar with real options and some heat. Bump up the salsa selection and stop rationing it, and this would be a solid spot. For now, I'll keep getting this to go and buying my own salsa and limes. read more

Finally tried it for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago when my friend grabbed takeout for us and LOVED the Filipino tacos so much that I went back within the week to get more. Nice restaurant decor with a good amount of seating. The parking lot is a little small and could take a while to get in and out of because it's in a pretty busy area. I haven't updated this since the last time I lived in Minnesota! When we moved back, Orale was one of the first places we went back to. I love this place, and the food is on par with a lot of Mexican food in California. Most recently, we went to celebrate a birthday. We go here because they are veggie friendly. We ordered the veggie enchiladas and I got a veggie wet burrito. Everything was delicious. My only complaint would be that things could be a bit saucier...but that's a preference thing and we get salsa on the side for it. We also got chips and guac -- delicious as well! I will say that the portions, especially the burrito are VERY generous. I think I should have shared it! It was pretty buzzy, which was great to see given the depths of winter we were in. I've been coming to Orale since it opened and I've NEVER been disappointed. Standouts- -chorizo queso, holy sh*t -medium salsa on everything -Filipino BBQ tacos, god they're good. Use the lime! I love these so much I'll order one ala carte just to have on the side almost every time I come. -enchiladas de pollo: moist, both sauces (red or green) are great, tho I probably prefer red. Not as heavy as enchiladas other places- satisfying but bright flavors too. -posole- so damn good -birria tacos - consume is rich and flavorful and bold and just drool worthy -flautas -husband loves the swimming burrito Ok I probably did not narrow down the menu for you but that's my point- everything is good! Visited 1/11/26. Orale is such a classic. With a wide variety of options that are all good, we stated with the chips, salsa, and guac. After getting the chance to try everything, I do think I would get the queso if I were ordering again, but they were all still solid. I got the chicken enchilada with both sauces. I took my niece to lunch for her birthday. Good size restaurant with parking lot in the front, otherwise street parking is an option. I saw a couple of signs of special food items available, not on the menu. Order at the counter and they'll call you once the food is ready. Tacos were delicious. So worth it that I went back twice in the same week! Happy hour is daily from 4-6pm, and so worth it. Orale has a fun twist on foods. The margarita was classic and phenomenal. I enjoyed the tostadas de tinga, egg roll lumpia, carnita tacos, and birria crunch wrap! Don't skip on dessert, because the Churronuts are amazing. Service was a little slow as the bartender also works the tables in the back, which aren't the most exciting place to sit, but worth it to get those cheap happy hour prices (less than $20 per person). read more

Good Mexican/Filipino restaurant. Kind of a unique combination, but it works. Located in an older, smaller strip mall, they have done a nice job with the inside. Kind of taqueria, kind of sit down, in a casual way, with a full bar. Also do a large amount of take out. Staff is friendly, but this is a order at the counter kind of place, so don't expect table service. Interesting food options, as well as drinks. One of our favorite items is the Family platter to go. Orale Mexican Eats is a pleasant surprise. Despite my rating, I'm willing to guess a lot of the food is top notch. The restaurant has the mom and pop feel, but is also clean and dine-in friendly in ways many other mom and pops are not. Food: There's an extensive menu with lots to choose from. I decided to grab a seat at the bar and order Flautas (served with rice and beans). The sides were really great! The one disappointment was the chicken meat in the flautas. So under flavored. It tasted like straight up unseasoned boiled chicken. Too plain. The guac and pico tasted fresh. That said, I'm willing to bet their other meats are better prepared for other dishes. Did someone say underrated?! This spot is unassuming from the outside, but flavor central awaits you inside. I gave my partner a "birria passport" for the holidays, and we've been working our way around birria spots in the Twin Cities ever since! Orale was on our list next. The setup inside is interesting: one side is mostly for takeout and pickup - a nice option for fast casual. The other side has a bar and full table service (by the incredible bartender!). There are probably 6-8 tables inside for seating, and it was a good mix of dine-in and takeout while we were there on a weeknight for dinner. Come for their happy hour! They had so many good deals on apps and drinks - we ended up getting two blended margaritas, egg rolls, birria wrap, and queso and chips. E verything was delish - ice cold margs, egg rolls that hit the spot, sizzling queso brought out on a mini cast iron, and a birria wrap that was to DIE for. And the wrap was like $6? My partner and I were blown away by the price - we'll be back for that alone! I ordered the quesadilla with steak, which they make in the authentic style - with masa corn and super long and thin - my favorite! It was absolutely massive and I ended up taking 2/3 home. My partner got a few tacos (which I obvi had to steal a few bites of each) and all was delicious. You can tell a great spot by the quality of their al pastor. And the Nachos? A masterpiece of crunchy chips, gooey cheese, and toppings so fresh and vibrant that they elevated this classic dish to a whole new level. The churros are pretty good as well just cool off fast while you eat the giant delicious burrito if you are like me. Always great and quick service. Wishing the Des Moines area had somewhere half as good; as we recently moved there from the southwest and have struck out at 5 different places. Only ever gotten takeout here, but they never disappoint. Most recently got the sopes - carne asada, carnitas, and tripa - all SO delicious. Salsa varieties are delicious and cater to all heat tolerances. The parking lot is small, but we've never had issues not finding an open spot. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The person taking our order at the front was very friendly and patient as we asked our questions. I shared the birria tacos, el pastor and sisig tacos with my husband. We stopped here for an early dinner and the Chimichanga was awesome, but had a lot of black beans. More than I typically would eat. It was huge and definitely enough to fill someone up. I also got a blended margarita and it was really good, however took a while as the bartender was the only one serving that day.
