Overall great experience. Service was great, parking lot in the front, and they take reservations. We came on a Sunday and not too busy. Table for 4 and we ordered the beef empanadas and tomahawk steak with some wine and beer. Empanadas were delicious. Flaky and nice amount of stuffing. Just wish they were bigger! Only one comes in an order. We ordered the tomahawk and were told that it can take up to 45 minutes. It wasn't a problem for us since we were ok with taking our time with the empanadas and conversations. Steak was huge with a large bone. Fragrance of rosemary. Also came with a side of 4 sauces/chimichurri. The steak comes with a choice of two sides. We ordered the sautéed veggies, mashed potatoes, and added garlic mushrooms. Sides were standard, nothing special but serving size was small in comparison to the size of the steak. Overall everything was good! Not mind blowing and our overall tab for the steak, 2 empanadas, 3 glasses of wine and 3 beers was around $230. read more

Went for a friends birthday on April 7, 2026. Not a lot of parking in the lot, but you can find some off street. Staff were very nice. Never used the restroom so I can't review. The night we happened to be there, there was live music and a little dancing. It was awesome!!! It was a bonus for sure! The food was amazing. I had chivito uruguayo. My husband had the same thing but with the bun. Someone had the salmon, estancia burger the sampler for 2 empanada and butternut squash soup. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We came in last evening to celebrate Valentine's Day! We were greeted by one of the owners, as they are keeping their doors locked at this time for safety (please be patient!) The owners were both present and so lovely. All the staff was! We were sat and our server came shortly. He was quick, kind and helpful! We did 2 mixed drinks which were phenomenal!! Avg pricing for drinks in the city! About $15. And then we ordered the valentine's special with empanadas, Salmon and steak. The beef empanadas were AMAZING and flaky and flavorful. We also had a cheese and spinach which was good but we preferred the beef. The two main dishes were cooked and seasoned perfectly!!! The chimichurri with the steak was stupid good!!! Overall, a really fantastic experience!!! The place is super clean and well put together. You can tell the owners really put their life and culture into it! Everything was spot on delicious, no feedback, 10/10! I consider myself a meat-atarian and love a good Brazilian steakhouse and have just gotten on to Argentinian steakhouses so we HAD to check out La Estancia. There were three of us but we got the Parrillada for 2 and got fingerling potatoes, steak fries, and sautéed veggies as sides. We also got the provoleta to start and my only suggestion is to make sure you eat that sucker right away when the cheese is melty and super gooey! Tricker, but still delicious, to dip from. The Parrillada comes with strip loin, skirt steak, asado de tira, chicken breast, chorizo, and four different dipping sauces. I honestly couldn't tell the different between the red meats but they all tasted uniquely different and paired really well with the chimichurri! Juicy, melt in your mouth, make you want to go straight into food coma, wake up, and eat it again delicious. Highly recommend, staff are friendly, welcoming, and it feels like a lovely family meal in a warm environment. Truly couldn't ask for more! read more

This place felt really fancy! All the tables were set nicely, and the decor was classy. The server was very nice, they kept our drinks full and checked in occasionally. A few other staff members checked in as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the food, but it could just be me. I typically like a kick of flavor or spice. - The provoleta was probably my favorite, it was hot cheese you put on a piece of bread. We did add the chorizo, but I think that it was unnecessary. - the squash soup was flavorful, but could have used some more pepper or something - The ribeye was fine. I get mine rare and it felt a little bland to me, but the dipping sauce helped - Mushrooms and mixed vegetables were the sides, they tasted like they were grilled up, but definitely needed more seasoning in my opinion. read more

I really liked my first try here for these reasons: 1. There is a dedicated parking lot and reasonable street curb parking too (I'm so tired of paying for parking in the Cities!) 2. There is authenticity to the place (There is a clear Uruguayan and Argentinian concept in the decor, food, wine, and hospitality) 3. There is value offered to the consumer (No North Loop hipster pricing here!) This is a relatively new spot and while the concept seems a little odd in South Minneapolis, it works. They were bustling on the night I was there and the owners and manager were very present checking in with and bantering with the guests. I loved that they had Morcilla on the list of starters. Putting a form of blood sausage on your menu in the middle of white-collar MN takes some ballsy confidence in your concept and cooking skills. This one was as good as I've had anywhere overseas and it was only $8. That is a foodie steal in a town better known for tame tater-tots and generic white bread. Next time, I am going to ask if they will crispify it for me and put a runny egg on it! There is some value to be had on the beverage list. I found a bottle that I drank with friends just last week on this list for $18 less than what I paid for it in an AZ restaurant. By my research, the markup on it at La Estancia was only about 60% which is reasonable considering most restaurant wine bottle markups approach 200%. Not every bottle is valued like that so buyer beware. But the educated wine enthusiast has a good shot at unrecognized rewards here. Another plus is there are many wines from undervalued South American areas. This represents a great value play and a chance to get into some winery offerings that you have probably not heard of. That always sounds like fun to me! My group had only great things to say about the food. The chimichurri condiment that seemed to be served with everything was genuine and fantastic but be prepared to be off-gassing garlic for the next 24 hours lol. Also, for fans of more fatty cuts of grilled meat, the Asado de Tira should not be missed. It is the same cut as Korean Galbi short ribs, perhaps cut a bit thicker, but grilled to perfection and much juicier than any steak could ever be. Plus, you get to gnaw on some bones at the table which is probably not good if you are trying to impress a date but it is fun if you like to feel like a caveman once in a while. This is a very meat-centric place but one of my party wasn't feeling it and ordered the cheese filled ravioli which were actually quite good too. The most critical thing I can come up with is that the service was a bit unpolished. But even this lends itself to this place in an endearing way. It is a moderately casual spot and I went in expecting to be gnawing on bones so the fact that some of the servers were young and inexperienced did not bother me at all. But if you are going here expecting to have high-tea with the Queen, you may be disappointed. (My editorial here would be that if that were your expectation coming to a S. American grill house, you should probably be researching where you are going a bit more first). Finally, after a unique and fantastic dining experience, I got to walk out the front door to my car parked in their private lot. No pricy valet, no hourly meter charges, and no parking tickets to worry about. That is icing on the cake in my book and I will definitely be back. read more

Went last night with a large group, about 15 ppl. I like the style of the restaurant. Drinks were very good. The shrimp ceviche was really good. It was tomato based, so it was different. I had the ribeye. It was seasoned and cooked very well. The sautéed mushrooms were great. The restroom was nothing special, but it was very clean. Enteric steakhouse located in a small strip mall on Nicollet Ave. We had a reservation for our Thursday dinner and we were one of just two tables that night, so pretty quiet. We started with a couple of their very tasty empanadas (one ham/cheese and one beef) that came with their chimichurri sauce and had a nice bottle of Argentinian red wine. The menu has a lot of beef options from weighty tomahawk steaks to chorizo sausage and even chicken. We got their 6-meat sampler platter for two-tenderloin, skirt steak, ribs, chicken, chorizo and more. We added a couple of sides -salad and fries-very authentic compared to the food I had on my trip to Argentina last winter. There was a small lot so parking wasn't an issue. Really lovely new restaurant that just opened about 4 months ago in Minneapolis, this Argentinian-Uruguayan steakhouse offers premium cuts, bold flavors, and perfectly grilled meats. Wonderful atmosphere with well dressed staff in white button down shirts with black slacks, the kind of classy steakhouse you'd expect. I came in on a Friday night with some friends after making a reservation, it wasn't very busy when we came in but got progressively busier as the night went on. Our server was named Mario and he was very energetic and happy to tell us about the menu and a little bit about the background of La Estancia, great server with exceptional recommendations. We ended up getting an array of appetizers: the cold cuts selection (charcuterie board), beef empanadas with chimichurri sauce, and burrata. I really enjoyed the cold cuts selection, it was hearty and came with prosciutto, salami, mortadella, manchego, fontina, blue cheese, berries, jam, and crostinis. Great for a party of 3 or more. The empanadas were also fantastic, the flavor was so savory, you can tell they know how to marinate and cook their proteins! I'd probably pass on the burrata, it was a little bit harder than I expected and didn't come with any bread or crostinis. We asked for a side, but of note these crostinis are veryyy hard, I think the restaurant could benefit from some sliced ciabatta, anything slightly softer. The steaks and prime cuts that were sizzling when staff were walking by smelt incredible!! I need to come back to try some of their meats, though a little on the pricier side, they also have a big menu with sandwiches, burgers, main entrees, and premium grills. The desert also looked quite good, I have to come back to try more items! So far color me impressed! read more

Found the place more by accident on YELP. Thursday evening and no problem with parking and since we had a reservation with seatings. Nice decorations and table settings. They did a great job. We ordered the La Parrillada for two and the empanadas. The latter were delicious. The platter was quite good but the blood sausage was not something we enjoyed. The ambience is nice although the restaurant gets fairly loud. We ordered 2 desserts but once we found out that they didn't have the Panqueque, we decided to cancel the dessert order but they brought out the other dessert (Poste Chaja) on the house. Delicious dessert and a nice touch. Why I gave them 4 starts is partly because when we received the check, they had added 20% gratuity automatically (glad we checked). The menu said that they would add for 6 parties or more. When we asked, they explained that they do that for checks over $200. No where on their menu or their website does it say that, nor posted on their entry door, etc. I am not sure but that is probably illegal. They were happy to remove it, however. read more

As someone who frequents restaurants and does many many reviews a place like this being a 4.4 is borderline concerning. I went to 100 restaurants last year in Minnesota , there may have been 6 or 7 better than this place ... maybe. This was the best experience I've had at a steakhouse in a very long time. The steak was superb, we got the paradillo combo for 2 which was a ton of food. , all of it was excellent. The atmosphere was amazing the service wasn't the fastest but the server was very cool and it didn't really matter because everything was so good. I'll be back very soon and as far as a steakhouse goes in the middle of a family neighborhood in the heart of Minneapolis, it doesn't get better. The drinks were also very good. read more

My wife and I love a good steak, so when I saw a Groupon offering for La Estancia with good reviews, we bought it to try it out. When we pulled into the very small parking lot, we luckily found an empty parking space. The restaurant was nearly empty for our 5:30 dinner reservation, but slowly grew in attendance an hour later. I was impressed with the white table cloths and an uncluttered distance between tables, however we thought the background music was unnecessarily too loud and distracting that made me want to ask our server to lower the volume, but I didn't say anything. Our young server was pleasant, but didn't seem to have much knowledge, and experience, or conversational skills. I ordered the veal sweetbreads as an appetizer, which was mild and tender with a good sized portion while my wife ordered the homemade chorizo sausage that was also mild and not as spicy than I'm used to, but fresh and delicious. My ribeye was subpar with lots of un-rendered fat that I had to cut off with nearly every bite, and wasn't as flavorful as my wife's excellent prime tenderloin, that was as tender and delicious as any fillet I've had! The house salad with balsamic dressing was overdressed and too sweet with no acidity, so I asked for blue cheese to cut the sweetness, but the server brought blue cheese dressing - not what I asked for. One of the most impressive parts of our experience was that all hot dishes are served on blazing hot cast iron skillets so steaks sizzle for 3-4 minutes keeping the steaks hot while eating - nice touch. If I could give La Estancia more than five stars I would do so. Food, service and ambience are outstanding. I went on a Thursday evening with a group of four. We had reservations but it was only about half full. La Estancia is located in a cluster of small businesses at the corner of 48 th Street and Nicollet Ave South. There is plenty of parking in the small lot in front of the building. I dislike American steak houses like Ruth's Chris. They are pretentious as well an obscenely expensive. Although La Estancia is white table cloth it feels very down to earth. They have a large menu which is very meat centric so this isn't a place for a vegetarian. They have a nice wine list from Argentina, Uruguaya, and Chile. We had a Montes Alpha Merlot which was excellent. They have a fresh squeezed lemonade which is out of this world. The empanadas are the best I have had. We shared the Parrillada La Estsncia which is a sampler of all their meats. It was $155 but we could not eat it all and brought enough home for another dinner. We had sides of frites, mashed potatoes, and house salad. We ended up by sharing an excellent flan for desert. Our server Marco did an outstanding job. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Dinner with tip was $ 360 for four. Not bad for a steakhouse meal these days. They give a discount for cash so consider a pre dinner stop at an ATM. I definitely plan on returning soon and highly recommend La Estancia to anyone who likes steak. read more

Entering the restaurant was joyful. I was greeted with a smiling face an beautiful dining room well appointed with Linens and good lighting. I was looking for a sampler plate that I saw on their website which turns out is a dinner for 2. Okay, fine. Pricey, but it would be 2 meals and I wanted to try out the spread so bite the dinner out budget and do it. There were two steaks a chicken breast, their chorizo and a blood sausage. I had whole small potatoes and mushrooms as sides. Back to front the potatoes and mushrooms were good, but a bit less than expected. They were not over cooked or undercooked, but were unremarkable. Again, fine.. they are sides and I am here for the famous beef from the South American producers that are known for it! Now the good: they steaks were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The chorizo was slightly different in flavor and kind of fell apart once sliced into, but the flavor was for my palette unique and pleasurable, a savory mix of subtleties. I am not a fan of blood sausage but tried it as it is "traditional". Good for them, yech for me. Fine. Tried it again as my tastes have changed over the years. So maybe... but naw!! And then the chicken. What a disappointment that was. I was worried that I had a dull steak knife but it cut through the steak easily. No, the chicken was both tough and stringy and the knife cutting against the grain pulled it apart as if I were shredding it. No bueno... The desert crepes were very good. Not overly sweet. And the service.. ok it was professional bringing in the setup. I was alone so was seated at a two person table, which was not big enough for even the plates with the food, my biggest complaint was that they didn't clear dishes . Even when dinner was done and I was served the crepes. I had all these other dishes in the table and it's not like they were busy with only 4 other tables in use while I was there. I was tempted to bus them myself and leave them on the bar top which was right behind me, but it's just disappointing. Should have been better. Especially since with tip the total cost was $170. Many times when you go out to dinner, you are not only looking to have a good time with friends or family, but also to forget a little bit about the everyday life and the daily routine. In this case, not only did all that happen to me last night, but I felt transported to a place where I had not been for many years. During my international business activities I used to travel to Argentina and Uruguay (Google it). Two of the most beautiful countries in South America. Not for that the rest of them are not so nice. These two countries have a special charisma. Their history, their people, educated, very hospitable and with a very good economic level. Their music is very special. Not to mention their food, very European, but at the same time with that touch of the Rio de la Plata heritage. Its history is very interesting and I am not going to tell you about it today. My readers have to do their homework. The music, very special and unique. To go there, you have to take a plane and travel about 6,000 miles. The two countries are like brothers. They were born almost together, well, I'm telling you some history. One is next to the other. So, I found through a friend who took me there, a little Uruguay and a little Argentina, all summed up in a beautiful restaurant, La Estancia, in Minneapolis. And it HAS parking...WOW! Remember that these countries have a very diverse heritage from Europe and their food reflects that, giving us what we like as meet and potatos. Also remember that these two countries have a wealth of cattle and know how to grill a good steak deliciously. We like corn in our American roots, well, you have to try the Locro... Not to mention the grilled meats, they are champions in that matter. And finally, I won't tell you more, but for the Sweet Tooth, you won't find more delicious and tasty desserts than at La Estancia. And... the music that I loved listening to during my travels, last night I relived it all. The wine list is very varied and international. As we're walking in I asked the people walking how was it. Her reply " So Fing good!" We went with steak, garlic mushrooms, potatoes, and cocktails and Argentina Malbec. Didn't disappoint at all. High points from my visit: The empanadas are the best I've had in a restaurant! Well made cocktails and quality wine selection. Parrilladas para dos included quality, nicely prepared cuts in ample portions. Dipping sauces are spot on. The chimichurri is a game changer. Flan and Panqueques are exceptional. The food was Meh! We ordered ceviche which is supposed to be a flavorful cold dish of fresh fish or shellfish marinated in citrus juices, like lemon or lime. The ceviche we got was warm cooked shrimp with a bunch of onions. Not cold or with any fresh fish, just warm shrimp. We ordered the ribeye take, which was paper thin and doubt it was the full number of ounces claimed. The asado de Tira (Short ribs) were decent tasting but not sure the ratio of quantity to price. A friend ordered the Chivito Uruguayo which said was pretty good. The interior decor was nice. I wish them luck but we will not go back. read more

well my wife and i thought we would try a new restaurant tonight. i ordered a red sangria and can say it was excellent. equally good as cuban style in Miami. next the meal went downhill from there. cesear salad with mini shrimp and store bought croutons. certainly not a true cesear with homemade dressing. from there went to short ribs which were tough and needed chimi churri sauce for flavor. the short ribs were just grilled and tough. why put something on the menu if it cant be done correctly. most short rib dishes from other top restaurants would prepare the meat so it was soft and tender. there were many. the side dishes were uneven as well. french fries aka potato planks in a small side cup and sautéed zucchini and carrots were fine but nothing special. i have travelled to Argentina and Uruguay and know the quality of their food. lastly why no lamb or goat dishes? i would try the restaurant one more time for a burger and sangria. our server was fine and ambience a bit noisy . read more

Having recently traveled to Argentina, we were in the mood for a choripan, and happy to see it on the menu at La Estancia. The house made choripan was delicious and brought us right back to Buenos Aires. The spinach empanadas were also terrific. Service was fast, efficient, and friendly. The atmosphere and vibe inside the restaurant definitely had a Uruguay/Argentina feel. This was our first time to La Estancia, and we will be back again, for sure. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but I can 100% say I would never come back. We arrived and were told it would be 10 minutes to be seated. It took 35 minutes to be seated. (To make it clear, since we didn't have a reservation I wouldn't mind waiting, but when you tell me it will be 10 minutes and it's not. That frustrates me. Just be honest.) I was still optimistic and understanding at this point. We get seated and right away order drinks and two starters/ appetizers. First they were out of several draft beers which was a bit disappointing but not a big deal. But then it took 25 minutes to get our empanadas! They arrive with no chimichurri. We ask for some and are told they are all out but that they were making some and it would be five minutes. We wait another 20 minutes to get chimichurri (Again if they would have just been honest I would have eaten my empanada alone, instead of waiting for chimichurri) but then we realize we have no plates or silverware to eat with. After more than an hour of waiting for food, our food finally arrives. But one of our orders was wrong. At this point I'm hangry. I have to wait another 10 minutes for my correct plate (funny how it took 10 minutes to get the same plate that took over an hour to get). I got the Ravioli and it was not worth the $24 we paid for. It tasted like store bought Ravioli. I should also mention me never got our second starter/appetizer. It never arrived to our table. And to top it all off, there was a couple that arrived an hour after us. And got their food before us. They literally got their check at the same time as us. We spent two hours and this restaurant but only spent about 10 minutes eating, because by the time we got our food we were over it. I will say our waiter was sweet and kind but everything else about this place gets 0/10 from me. read more
