Was visiting New York from Chicago and dropped into Barrio randomly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What a great spot for weekend brunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live dj, great bartenders and eats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Street park [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dj Rob-Lo was spinning latin and house beats in a Sunday afternoon. The music was a fun vibe making many butts move in their seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bartender and service were amazing, very attentive and prompt. Samantha helped us pick out food and was super nice.she recommended the bottomless drinks for brunch 90 min unlimited all you can drink sangria, mimosas or rum punch. The rum punch was tasty and she kept us topped off. Finally the food was on another level. Got the Arepa and Tripleta both were quality portions were pretty big and season perfectly. Side of yuka frita was great and perfectly seasoned. If you are visiting or simply looking for a fun time or a great bite you should give Barrio a try you wont regret it.

I have had Barrio BX bookmarked for a while. We were in the area and found parking spot so we decided to go in. We were seated quickly and our drinks came out pretty fast. No complaints at all on the drinks. FOOD: The food was amazing portion size was great and sharable depending on how much you eat. BACALAITOS: I love bacalaitos, they were served kinda like a pizza so we were a bit hesitant to taste them. So happy we got them, They were so good! Definitely a must try. SORULLITOS: We loved these just like Puerto Rico PERNIL: We loved the peril it was cooked to perfection, great portion. The Arroz Con Gandules was also really good. BISTEC Sandwich: The steak was cooked to perfection. Tostones with garlic sauce was so good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant did start to get a bit crowded around 6pm overall a great atmosphere with a DJ great drinks and even better food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Was helping a friend in the area. They recommended this place based on someone telling them that the food was good. The food is very good! We happened to be there during lunch "special time". We chose the Criolla salad and rellenos de pap for appetizers. Salad was amazing, with baby greens, red onions and avocado. We chose the bacalao stew and the shrimp stew, with white rice and pink beans. The red peppers and onions sautéed insid the codfish and shrimp dish's, were fresh and you could feel the crunch. The general manager/host greeted us with a warm yet professional welcome. The Latin music playing in the background was perfect. The seating was comfy. Our server, Rafael was on point. He gave clear descriptions of all the foods we asked about. This place is worth the trip from Brooklyn! I will be back!

First time visiting the new space in Castle Hill after frequenting visits at the Throggs Neck location. I miss them being so close to home but I am happy to say that they have continued cooking good food and serving yummy drinks. The volume of the music can get a bit overwhelming so if thats not for you come visit weekdays and off peak hours. The new place is much bigger and open. Lots of natural light. The service is straightforward and warm. Staff is always eager to answer any questions. The fact that I was able to recognize staff from the Throggs Neck location leads me to believe that employees truly enjoy working there. Kudos to the management for creating an environment like that. At times the food has been slightly over salted on my past visits .... But this last visit everything was perfect. I also noticed that the pernil portion seemed smaller than in the past. I cant wait to visit them again!

My friend raves about this place and both him and his husband say this is their go to spot for brunch. Yesterday they invited me to brunch and I honestly went for the French toast that my friend cant get enough of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived there was live music and there was a lot of people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hostesses took a moment to get it together however once we were seated our waitress was on point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the live musicians were not playing the dj played early 2000s R&B and Regetton.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now my friend did not lie the coquito French toast is the reason to go. I personally do NOT like coquito but this French toast is some of the best I have had at a brunch. Honestly all of the food was hot, fresh, and delicious and the portions were huge. I could not finish all my food. While my friend loves the rum punch I was not impressed. You could taste the strong cheap liquor. That may be a plus for some but honestly with the good comfort food I eat I did not need any alcohol. I liked the food enough I would go and even do takeout.

I've been to Barrio BX a few times for brunch and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, we get the picadera platter, a d ide of alcapurrias ro start plus a meal. The bottomless brunch options are mimosa, white or red sangria or rum rumner. The service is on point. The service team is always checking up on us whether they are waiting our table or not and they keep topping off our drinks! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Dj is amazing he plays all types of music making the ambiance spectacular.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Authentic Puerto Rican food! I love this spot and have gone to them for years! I've brought so many people to try this spot and all continue to return! Best place for good Puerto Rican food. The drinks are also amazing!

Poor managerial skills!!!!Went with my wife to celebrate her mom 81birthday.That D j we ask for a Table in the back .They told us to wait 15 minutes as we waited,A manager came and told us they had party of 40 people and could not accommodate us.First of all they said they do not take reservations. The way we were approached was hostile and disrespectful. This a celebration that we do not know if we will have the opportunity to celebrate again!!!!We will never visit this place again!!!!!Party of six treated like this!!!!

Always a great vibe, a great time, and the food is AWESOME! The drinks are on point, and great music! The chicharrón de pollo sin hueso! Yo, it is perfection, crunchy, juicy, and a good sized portion. Los tostones, que delicioso. The servers are attentive and friendly and check in often to make sure all is well.

The 2 beautiful people that worked there made our time there so memorable. The food was out of this world let me tell you. Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. We tried it all. Came home with passion fruit (parcha) and guyaba (guanabana) Delicious 10/10 It was so fresh and they don't add too much ice so you get all the juice taste. All in all I'm coming here from now on. A true BX staple for the community and a true essence of the Bori pride resides here. If you miss PR, come here.

He is called the Lechon King and is an icon of the South Bronx. It's a place I've kept an eye on for some time, and I finally decided to give it a try. The truck operates only on Saturdays and Sundays, from around noon until six, or sometimes one. When we arrived, a line had already formed, which is a testament to how much people love this spot. Be prepared to wait about 2 hours--it's cash-only--but trust me, the experience is worth it. The most popular dishes are Lechon, Spanish Rice, and Octopus. The wait is long because the owner personally prepares each order, taking the time to chat with customers and even offer tastings. His warm personality and genuine customer service create a welcoming atmosphere. While my daughter and I waited in line, I noticed an older gentleman I'd seen in videos sharing wine with waiting customers. Seeing him there, pouring wine as we waited, made us feel part of a lively, friendly community. I had a cup of wine and couldn't help but feel like I was at a festive gathering. Everyone around us was talking and laughing like old friends, which made the wait more enjoyable than I expected. The owner's passion is evident -- he runs out of Lechon, gets it straight from the street-side oven, and takes time to take pictures, entertain customers, and share samples. I tried the Lechon at least twice before finally receiving my order, and it was well worth the patience. When it was our turn, the owner was still giving samples while he prepared our food. My daughter ordered Lechon and Spanish Rice, while I wanted to try everything. My order included Lechon, Spanish Rice, Octopus, Shrimp, Crabmeat, and garlic sauce. Although I don't eat seafood like shrimp or crabmeat, I was eager to try the Octopus. I ate around the other seafood, savoring each bite. The food was incredibly delicious -- the Lechon had a perfect balance of flavor, and the crispy skin was unforgettable. The plantain was tasty, cooked to perfection, and complemented beautifully by the garlic sauce's punch of flavor. The Octopus, prepared ceviche-style, was a new experience for me, and I'm glad I took the chance -- it was tasty. The rice was good, though I wished there was a bit more -- it seemed like a small portion. I would give this place a five-star rating for the incredible flavor and the warmth of the customer service. While cleanliness isn't perfect, the overall experience is truly heartwarming. If you find yourself there, I believe you'll leave feeling happy and satisfied.

The line felt like a party with the guy on a scooter handing out 190 proof vodka to the guests. When you finally make your way into the truck be prepared to be greeted with warmth and a chunk of lechon right into your hand. Want to try the pulpo (octopus salad)? I hope you washed your hands because he will scoop a sample right into your palm. Chef Jimenez will tell you his life story while waving his machete and smoking a blunt. Nothing seems off limits here because you have somehow, in a matter of minutes, become nothing less than family. At $22 a plate, with rice and peas, a very generous serving of lechon and topped with a green banana, you'll walk away with a full stomach and a warmed heart. The unpredictable nature of this means you can't come wanting to control time or have an efficient food pickup. If you want that go to Cuchifritos in East Harlem. The rice and peas were a little burnt tasting but who cares? It was a party in the middle of the Bronx and more memorable than any food truck I've been to.

I wanted to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday on Saturday, May 16th, and after searching a few places, I settled on Sobro Garden especially after finding out it was one of Jimmy's spots. We celebrated with 30 of our closest family and friends, and it truly became a night he said he'll never forget. Where do I start? Let me begin by saying Sobro Garden, you guys did NOT disappoint!! First and foremost, thank you Jimmy, because when I tell you this man went above and beyond to make everyone feel like family at his establishment, I truly mean it. Jimmy personally checked in with everyone going table to table making sure everyone was enjoying themselves, asking if everything was good from the drinks, atmosphere, music and food was to satisfaction because he genuinely wanted everyone to enjoy and especially told my husband it's a blessing to hit a milestone, celebrating with family and friendsand hope his place made it a memorable one. She guided me step by step, helped choice a menu plan, stayed in communication the whole time and was so patient, kind and welcoming the moment I arrived. Her smile and warm hearted present made the experience even better. She greeted me as if we knew each other for years and our waitress and waiter? Absolutely AMAZING. My husband, our guests and I were attended to with such PRISTINE EXCELLENCE all night long. Now let's talk about the FOOD... because BABY!!! Everything was DELICIOUS. I can't even single out one item because every dish hit the spot. Everyone at our tables ordered something different, so we all got to taste a little bit of everything from the pernil, steak & onions, grilled salmon, chicken, arroz con gandules, fried fish, steak skewers and BABY... those famous Crack Wings Rub had everybody wanting to eat their fingers To top it all off, the highlight of the night was seeing Melle Mel celebrating his birthday from the day before and actor Darrin Henson, so handsome in person was also in the building. Both were so down-to-earth and when Melle Mel grabbed the mic, he absolutely brought the house down!! Thank you again to EVERYONE at Sobro Garden for making my husband's 50th birthday celebration such an UNFORGETTABLE Experience. We will DEFINITELY be Back!

As soon as we walked in, I loved the decor -- the Puerto Rican flags and beautiful paintings really gave it an authentic and welcoming feel. We ordered two different types of alcapurrias and one order of bacalaitos. For drinks, I had the Puerto Rican rum punch and my husband had the pineapple bomb. The alcapurrias were really tasty and fried to perfection -- crispy on the outside and flavorful inside. The only thing missing was a dipping sauce, which I think would have made them even better. The bacalaitos, unfortunately, were a bit too oily and salty for our taste. On the bright side, the drinks were really good and well made. I also really enjoyed the music playlist. It brought back memories of growing up and hearing my mom play salsa music on the weekends while she cleaned, which added a nice, nostalgic touch to the experience.
