I've lived in my neighborhood for over a decade, and La Casa de Frida has lasted far longer than any previous tenants in the same space. They also tried to serve Mexican, Dominican, and American cuisine, but without this vibrant and proud panache. LCdF has what appears to be an extensive bar (I don't drink, so wouldn't know), excellent food with unique and fan-favorite flavors, and events that draw crowds into the space, rife with color, music (bachata, reggaeton, salsa to set the mood) and certain nights, a DJ! And Karaoke! Our neighborhood has few spaces to hang out and cut loose, and I recommend lCdF to anyone in Norwood who wants to escape to enveloping music and a lively crowd enjoying themselves. Lastly, they are accomodating when things are not perfect, as the IOU chorizo tacos when they were accidentally left out of my take out order and the complimentary margharita when I came to cash in the IOU. Staff is rude as f*ck! worst experience ever never going back! Bartender is very rude & has a disgusting attitude, please learn how to treat customers with grace and respect! Despite my mother being there with my 11 year old sister the bartender/server was yelling, and damn near shoving the menu in my mothers face over a mistake SHE made. Very disgusting behavior ESPECIALLY in front of a child. If you don't like your job don't go to work! P.s that specific bartender/serve ALWAYS has a horrible attitude NEVER AGAIN! I wish I could give zero stars for the service. Let me start by saying I USED to love this place. The food is amazing and the drinks delicious. It was my boyfriend and mine go to place in the neighborhood. We loved it so much we named our cat Frida after it. I'm not sure if there's new owners but the last two visits have been terrible. And we will not return. Our service clearly doesn't matter but I needed to get this off my chest. We went in February. Waited almost an hour for drinks, we asked the waiter twice and he kept saying it's coming and it never did. Another customer walked in and they took his order and brought him his drink. I spoke to manager she apologized brought the drinks and comped them. But it was already a waste because we were done eating. Today we walked in and sat at the bar. We were not greeted and not acknowledged. Another couple walked in and they were sat and given menus. The terrible service is not only unacceptable but also disappointing. Not traditional Mexican food but my dish was plated beautifully. I ordered the Chicken enchiladas with mole. The mole was spot on. Great spot and most importantly, it can be parking friendly. Especially weekends and early afternoons. I had the Steak Quesadilla and Chorizo Tacos with all the trimmings. They were real good, real flavorful! A part of the steak were a little chewy, but it was a very small piece. And they came with fries as it should be. Drinks were good and service was amazing. Staff was super friendly, funny and helpful. Especially since it was my first time there. Music was also good. Prices are about average for the area and the time period we are in with price increases everywhere. There is a bar area at the front and lots of seating. Will definitely be back! read more

Came in a little late after work on Saturday and had a great time! The place wasn't packed and to our luck it was Karaoke night. They were able to quickly accommodate our party of five and our waitress was super friendly. The drinks were very good, we had the mangonada margaritas and the portions were huge. The small frozen margaritas were also quite good as well! Sadly the kitchen had closed when we arrived and couldn't try the food, but our incredible waitress was still accommodating enough to get us chips and guacamole. Will definitely be back! read more

Updated review: I really love this place! I was motivated to write a second review after I saw how much I was cared for in this establishment. I visited last week with my two friends and then they left. I stayed on my own, and just mingled with the bartender and chilled. There were a group of men who were drunk at the bar and were being a little weird. Demetri the bartender, made sure to keep his eye on me whenever I would go to the bathroom, and in general, which made me feel really safe. It's rare to come across bartenders that make sure you feel comfortable all night long and he did just that. Every time I come here, I'm greeted with warmth and am treated like a regular. I mean, I have that impact on people! Lol. I also always meet new and cool people every time I'm here, so I think that speaks to the culture at Frida's. The drinks and the food remain really good--I tend to get the enchiladas duo every time--THEY'RE SO GOOD! I always get the frozen passion fruit margarita as well but the bartender has encouraged me to try other drinks (I wish I could remember the name) which are really good too. Almost didn't come here. Super glad I did. Tiny place, big energy. Some of the best guac I've had here in the States. And that's saying something. Steak tacos were bussin as well. Simply delicious! A little hole in the wall. The service and food was great. The food honestly was delicious, I did not expect it. The drinks as well. The place is small but well worth it. As we walk in by 7 p.m. it was already packed and until the time we left was still packed. The decor is beautiful, really focus on its name. Beautiful quotes by Frida Kahlo and inspiring statements that will empower you. The service was great and the only reason I gave it a 4 star is because there was only 1 waiter and she did the impossible to make sure that all costumers were satisfied. Pretty good spot. I agree with others, this is NOT authentic Mexican, this is a Dominican restaurant serving Mexican dishes. I ordered the chicken nachos and the steak tacos. The steak tacos were good but not great, nothing to post a billboard about. The chicken nachos were packed but flavorless! The chicken had no flavor--I was surprised considering this is a Dominican joint--at bare minimum, I expected the food to be flavorful. I threw away majority of the nachos; the taco filling is good but overall the shell is a corn tortilla which tastes like crap. I'm not sure I would give them another shot. The servers are a little mediocre. I called in and placed my order: when I got there, the first hostess/bartender didn't even bother to hear what I was saying and waves me off; thankfully another young lady came in and over heard me saying "but I just placed the order by phone." She helped me with my order and sent me on my way. The food being mediocre is one thing but that little bartender that only listens if you speak Spanish is what makes me not want to return, and just as a heads up...I may look like a "Black Gringo", but I completely and fluently speak and understand Spanish. We went with local friends who had eaten there before. The place looks charming. We met the friendly proprietor Teresa. We ordered, mostly tacos, and guacamole to start. My husband order the whole fish, a red snapper. They call it something else, but we know it as huachinango. The guacamole was delicious and a generous size. When the tacos arrive, I'm pleased to find they are made with delicious homemade tortillas -- very special. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the warm welcome from Teresa and her sister. They charge a service fee, make sure you ask for your physical receipt first BEFORE adding a tip as well as BEFORE they say they will send you your receipt via email. When it comes via email there is no itemized receipt, it's just a confirmation of the price paid. Service fee for 2 adults and 2 kids was $6!!! Didn't see any signage for such. Ridiculous to automatically apply a service fee for a seated party of 4 who only ate guac, quesadilla and 2 empanadas, rice and beans. Get real. Servers were really nice, they get the stars. * when I inquired why I was charged a service fee the server said I could come back to speak with a manager another time but ended up returning the $6. Appreciated, but still watch out for those hidden charges, folks! read more

Food is good, overpriced and customer service is cold especially if you're black. My co worker and I both Afro Latinos who speak Spanish noticed how rude they are to black customers and heard them say derogatory things when they didn't know the darkest people understood what they were saying. I give this place 2.75 stars. There are so many inconsistencies with this establishment. I love the idea of Frida Khalo being the symbol of this place. The type of service really depends on who is working. When it first opened, the owner was super helpful and extremely personable. It would've received 5 stars. Since then, the amount of food ranges dramatically depending on who is serving you. I've been charged for the same meal 4-6 different prices. On a good day the food is great. On others not so much. It seems like they have kids working there also. I don't know if they are family helping out or are trained employees. I've been charged a $7 difference for the same meal when it came to one of them taking my order. They also do not understand how their menu and pricing unless it is someone who has been working there from the start. They also should look into overall customer service especially dealing with non Spanish speaking customers. There is always a feeling that Spanish speaking clients are getting better service than non Spanish speaking customers. Might just be me but you can go and find out for yourself. read more

The food tends to be better during the week . I ordered the Fajita and it was BLAND like hospital food. The meat was rubbery and tasteless, it was missing onions and the peppers tasted OLD.
