Dined in on Friday, 17 April 2026. My cousin took us here after a long trip. We walked in and took a seat near the window. Inside was a bit small, we had the shimmy to get to one side of the table, but the layout and the tables made it appear spacious. The wait staff came quickly and was attentive throughout our whole meal. She provided great service. The portions are huge! The food was hot and sizzling and tasty. I had a shrimp and a beef taco with the medium tamarindo drink. We also had guacamole and chips for the table. The guacamole was made fresh and was the best guacamole I have had in a long time. It was full of flavor. I definitely recommend and I plan to go back before my trip ends. read more

quality has gone down tremendously in recent years. ordering delivery is really just taking a risk of bland mediocre food or straight up not good food you spent money and time for. it's almost like now they don't even care what food they sell people. read more

I used to love picante picante and it was a staple in my seamless rotation. I ordered delivery on Mother's Day and the majority of my order was not delivered. I called seamless and I called picante picante directly, both blamed the other and neither would offer a solution. Picante picante told me I could pick the remainder of the order (that I already paid delivery for) in person, how generous of them. Usually the food is good, albeit overpriced, but after this experience I won't order from them again. Just a heads up to future customers. read more

Haven't been here since last year. Today I came in for lunch we had some guacamole and tacos. My gf loves their horchata drink and it made her tastebuds dance. Everything was excellent and under $50 dollars which was great. Service is always excellent and the ambiance very authentic. read more

I am never disappointed here. Never. Especially by the staff. Always so pleasant and attentive. I adore the people that work here. Best Mexican food for the price within miles. There are some pretentious ones up in Riverdale that are over priced and fairly decent but this one is just a hard-working kitchen with quality food. My favorite is the fajitas because they mix in squash and other vegetables instead of just onions and peppers. Dining in or delivery have never let me down. If you're in the neighborhood and you want Mexican, I'm here. read more

Quick delivery and good food! The nachos are a small portion and not really worth it. The toppings are on the top and not evenly distributed. The burritos are okay too. The Birria Tacos is a definite 10 out of 10! The meat is tender , flavorful, and all the ingredient are fresh. I was even offered the option of American style to include lettuce or Mexican , with cilantro and cheese .... The establishment looks clean and quaint. The employees are kind and personal. Lacking a star because the tortilla was not fried and dipped in the consume, rather it was raw. The consume is flavorful, and the picantes, both red and green are yum! I enjoyed more the red picante... I will definitely return to try the other items on their menu. read more

As excited as I was by birria tacos, these really missed the mark. I ordered the 3 birria tacos with a cup of consome, which were quite expensive and lacking on all aspects. First, each corn tortilla fell apart at the base, making it difficult to eat. Second, the meat was tough and not very flavorful. Third, the consome provided no relief as it, too, was not very flavorful. That said, I also ordered chips and guac which were pretty good. The chips were nicely crisp and the guac was smooth and flavorful (albeit a bit heavy on the onion). Price: 2/5 Quality: 2/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: N/A Atmosphere: N/A read more

My girlfriend and I came here last night for the first time after seeing it had good ratings. We sat down and ordered a Passion Fruit drink and a Sorrel drink. My favorite neighborhood eatery. Apparently I've ordered the fajitas over 100 times. I love this place.

Everything was so more than my expectations, great service, and very the food was fulfilling

I loooove this place. I usually just get takeout either by calling or via Seamless. I have tried many of their dishes but my faves will always be tacos and Enchiladas Verdes. I appreciate that they have vegetarian options and are always open to substitute my preferences. The churros are my son and I's favorite dessert. The guacamole is delicious as well as their chips and various sauces that are always fresh. I have dined in a few times and service, decor and music is always great! very local place filled with locals. It's bring your own alcohol so keep that in mind if you are dining in. the service is very very slow with only 2 people waiting on tables. The chips seem to be stored bought, guacamole is made table side and to order, not bad just need a little more flavor. Food portions are a nice size. A group of 4 people had various dishes. Dish 1 was a soup of some kind. looked like it was filled with various vegetables. Dish 2 was a sampler dish looked very good and filling. was told it was very good. Dish 3 was 3 different tacos m. very basic. Dish 4 was chicken. quesidillas, eh. chicken was very bland and grease filled. read more

I've continued to order from Picante Picante. During the pandemic I've been ordering alot of take out from here. Prior to the pandemic i would come here to eat alot with my grandmother. We both love this place. The main reason i love ordering from here is because of how fresh the guac and salsa are. Its a must have with each order. The last time i had the steak fajita dinner. The steak and vegetables were so good. I absolutely loved it. The rice was okay. The beans tasted a little too smokey. Alot tok burnt tasting. I wish it came with more tortillas but overall this meal is good. My husband got the pulled pork torta. He said it was really good and he ate it all. It was loaded with meat. He took some off lol. Of course i ordered guacamole. Its so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The salsa it comes with is also delicious. I got two orders of churros. They were really soft, crispy on the outside and loaded with Cinnamon sugar. I loved it alot. I've ordered multiple items from here in the past. Like tacos (fish, shrimp, steak, chicken and pork). Nachos. Trio fajita with steak, shrimp and chicken. The tamarindo juice is really good. Overall I'll keep ordering. I will continue to order from here. The food is good. read more

I am unfortunately never ordering from here ever again. I had been ordering from this place for almost two years now and the food was great. However this last time I ordered, not so much. I got 4 shrimp tacos which is my usual. The first bite I took I noticed something super hard when I bit down. I looked in the taco & there was a DIME in it. A dime! I hadnt opened the tacos themselves at all since I opened the container nor did I have any change around me so I knew there was no way the dime came from my home. When I called to tell them what happened the girl who answered the phone told me there was nothing she could do because the manager wasn't there and they were about to close. I found that to be really bad customer service because it's like, im not going to eat this food now, so the least you could do was send another or give me my $ back but neither was offered. The next day I called back and the manager essentially told me that what she did was right. He asked if I had a picture and then dared to ask me if I still had the tacos almost 24 hrs later lol apparently they needed them to make sure I didn't really eat them and because it's the "chefs word against mine" ??? Even though I spit out the dime soooo how would they even know if it was in there or not? And why would I lie on a random restaurant that I've been order from for almost two years now?? At the end of everything I ended up getting a credit for the tacos but I got off the phone feeling bad because I really wanted a refund. I understand mistakes happen but it's the way you recover from them that really matters. read more

I was here last night, man I wish I NEVER stopped here..I ordered tacos, a taco salad and taquito and it came out to $30!!!!!! I love Picante Picante! I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for amazing Mexican food in the Riverdale area. I ordered food through DoorDash this passed Saturday 10/2/2021. They had my order "preparing" for over an hour with the driver waiting outside for about a half hour AND then cancelled it. It something was no longer available they had ways of contacting me but didn't. Very unprofessional. read more

Incredibly horrible customer service. Called for a missing item and received a snarky remark when I asked how long it would take.

The worst Mexican food ever, I ordered a pork carnitas burrito and it was a disaster. Pork was salted and the beans and rice disgusting. I will not, I will not eat at that place again even if it is for free.! I am giving them 1 star because it won't allow me to do 0.... read more

There is nothing like amazing Mexican food like California.. It wouldn't be fair to deduct a star for this though. I loved the food here but the chimichanga de camarón could've used more lovin... My friend, her daughter and I was visiting Lehman college... And we got hungry. Searched for restaurants on yelp and found this place! Thanks, Yelp! This restaurant is so cute and the waitress was so sweet! My friend and her daughter never had Mexican food so I ordered horchatas for the adults, mango smoothie for the little girl, al pastor tacos, chicken tacos, chimichanga de camarón, and nacho supreme so they could try it out. They loved it but like I said before... Chimichangas needed more love! Nacho supreme was pretty good. It had chicken, beef and shrimp with guacamole and CHEESE! I wouldn't order it again though because the al pastor tacos were amazing! It hit the spot! I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the Bronx to try the other entrees here! read more

Drove in from Jersey on a Friday afternoon to have lunch w/ a friend. Place wasn't too busy until after 1-ish but was greeted and seated immediately. Pleasant staff, beautiful decor and very clean. Ordered quite a few things: Churrasco Fajita, Al Pastor Tacos with Guacamole, Rice w/ Beans, mixed Veggies, salad, flan and a cappuccino. Everything was fresh and delicious!!! Picante Picante - Churrasco Fajita Al Pastor Tacos with Guacamole Rice and Beans Salad Mixed Veggies - New Mexican Cuisine Near Me - Bronx, New York

This place has some good authentic Mexican food. Yeah you heard me, authentic!! A lot of places out there claim to be authentic but serve mediocre Mexican American food. Not picante picante, they put out good shit! No I'm not getting paid for this review and no I'm not related, I'm Puerto Rican. The restaurant is very clean. I was looking all over for a rat because let's face it, the Bronx is nasty lol. The service was a bit slow but the staff are friendly. I ordered the goat tacos as an appetizer. The goat was very tender, thumbs up. But I was a bit disappointed because it lacked flavor. Even after squeezing lemon on it, I really didn't get any flavor. I can't remember the name of the entree that I ordered. All I remember is that it was a volcano on a plate. Very nice plating too, I must say. It contained chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, cheese, cactus, and magma. So so good. read more

Food was great, nachos were different, instead of tortilla chips it was about 3-4 taco shells broken in half. The goat taco was amazing, loved it with the green sauce. Fries here are a pass. That's my fault for ordering fries from a formal Mexican restaurant, however I just excepted regular fries, instead I got soggy plain fries. The flautas were great, again that green sauce is life Also the Gordita is a traditional dish, not like a Taco Bell gordita, could have used lime with the cecina Overall great, they don't send line so ask for it trust me. Goat taco was nervous doing into it because not everyone can pull off a great goat, however they did fine My reason for 4 stars: it could be better, it's not a place I would bring family from out of state and brag about. It is good enough that if I need a quick taco fix and don't want to leave my house, I can just order and know I'm going to get a good meal. read more

THIS IS A GENUINE MEXICAN JOINT. The construction going on next door could easily be heard over the mariachi music but that didn't stop them from slinging quality food. My girlfriend and I like to go out and eat like fat savages. We spent $55 with tip and not only left feeling like stuck pigs, but we still have about 2.5 meals worth of left overs and an order of untouched Flan. The portion sizes are generous as fuck. The tamales are huge, order them. A side order of Tostones is way bigger than any one person should ever eat alone. The enchiladas were super delicious. They have more choices of flavored soda than you probably knew existed. All in all everything was good. The only thing I could ask for is maybe a little more spiciness in the flavor. Picante picante is located a quick walk away from blink fitness. So if you feel like completely negating your workout like me, give it a go lol. I got the smoked pork and the chorizo tacos. The smoked pork was slightly better. Both were decent but didn't blow me away. I shared a side of guac with a friend- it was pretty good. Our waitress was sweet enough to offer us some chopped jalapeños to add in to out guac which made it significantly better. I also got two tacos to go for a friend: Tinga and the chicken. Having tried a piece of both, I have to say, I wasn't too satisfied. The chicken were def blander than the previous two I had. read more

This restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the 231st Street 1 Station. I walked in solo on a sunny Thursday around 1 PM. The place has 7 tables with about 20 seats total and I was the only person seated in the restaurant. However, there was brisk takeout traffic. There was the typical Mexican decor but there was a fake roof façade with a sombrero on top which I thought was a nice touch. For some reason, the sombrero on the roof reminded me of a pizza on top of the White residence but I digress.. I was brought the typical salsa and chips before I ordered. The chips were nice and crispy with the right amount of salt. The salsa was cold as if it came out straight from the refrigerator but I actually didn't mind since it was a hot day and was a refreshing treat. I found I had to use my elementary knowledge of Spanish to fully communicate my order intentions but I didn't think it was too big of a barrier. I ordered a plate of enchiladas verdes. The dish presentation was great and the avocado was fresh and flavorful. The rice and black beans were typical and par for the course. I did enjoy the enchiladas themselves. The enchiladas were vegetarian and contained great tasting vegetables wrapped around corn tortillas with salsa verde, sour cream, and a cheese I believe to be queso Oaxaca although I may be wrong. I would definitely return if I were in the area. read more

I've been to this place several times now, and I've ordered takeout twice. I really like this place. The owners/staff are really friendly. They make guacamole tableside, which is both fun and delicious. In addition to regular tortillas, they offer thick homemade tortillas which are fabulous -- you have to try them! The most recent meal I had there was chiles rellenos, stuffed with cheese. It was very satisfying. They have mexican sodas and fruit drinks. For beer or anything else, its BYOB. The prices are VERY reasonable. read more

So glad i found this place near the clinic where I work. If you want some delicious mexican food, stop by here! I usually like to judge mexican joints based on their tacos, so i got the lengua and al pastor. Both were seasoned/flavored very well. The lengua i wish was a little more cooked/crispy. it was a bit soft. The al pastor was great and nice juicy bits of meat. Also got the horchata. Not the best i've had... i wish it waas a bit more cinammon-y and less sugary, but still really good. one thing i was disappointed with was the sudden price increase. the price for a taco isn't bad, but then they asked if i wanted it with everything (lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc) which is standard for tacos! but then that added about 75 cents per taco =( Overall, great food and if I'm in the mood for mexican and nearby, i'll be back!! read more
