Try the cute quaint spot in Riverdale Cocina Chente. Great service with friendly staff. Delicious cocktails and tasty dishes. Try the quinoa croquettes and the Pulpo salad.

Came here for drinks only. The spot is super cute they have outdoor and indoor seating. The bar is very intimate with lighting and decor. The waiter was very attentive and made us feel welcomed. It was my first time here I decided to go with el chapo and my other friends got micheladas,Rosa colada, and mezcalita. My drink was good not sure the mezcal that is used but it consist of Mezcal, Lime Juice, Cucumber Puree, Jalapeno syrup. The place was very chill and somewhat lively for a Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately we missed happy hour by 18 minutes so keep in mind.

Really solid food and amazing cocktails! I ordered the Rosa Colada which was BOMB, the steak enchiladas which come with rice and beans, and the quinoa croquettes as an appetizer. The quinoa croquettes were yummy- really crispy and flavorful. The steak enchiladas were solid but didn't blow me out of the water with flavor. One thing I did appreciate though was the service. The waitress was kind and gave a lot of great advice about what to order. I also was unsure about my drink at first and she offered to let me try it free of charge if I hated it. Little things like that really go a long way!!

Another great local option. The service at Cocina Chente is what really makes you return as well as the drinks! We ordered their crispy fish tacos which were fine but I personally enjoy their shrimp tacos more. The fried fish becomes too hollow and not enough fish. We also had their crab tostada which is one of my favorite items on the menu. My suggestions would be shrimp tacos, quinoa fried balls, crab tostada, street corn and do not forget a Chenterita!

Stopped in for a early dinner and it has become one of our go to spots after friends had taken us here. The place is small but cozy, great service & bar. Of course the food is also just as good! We came in and we were quickly seated. Started off with drink of course, and i must say the "Rosa Colada" is by far our favorite drink there. It is crafted with Tequila blanco, Lime Juice, Pineapple juice and syrup, Strawberry Puree, Coconut cream and Cinnamon. So good! Definitely a must try. Next up we ordered the Quinoa Croquettes which were stuffed with oaxaca cheese, served over avocado butter and a chimi sauce. The flavor of this combination is incredible and the croquettes are so flavorful and soft. For dinner we got the "Chimi Tacos" with ground beef, cabbage, tomatoes, & chente sauce. Also ordered the "Fajitas" which had chicken and Shrimp with a side of rice and beans. Oh also we always get a side of their fries , so good. I just want to say this place is truly a gem and i love coming here because the staff is so energetic and the food is always great and so are the drinks! Cant wait to come back soon !

Started with the steak nachos which were delicious. The steak was dry but flavorful and there was plenty of toppi gs. The were generous with the guacamole. The tuna tar tar was fresh and tasty. It came with watermelon which was strange for me but the tartar was really good. The shrimp tacos were delicious but had sour cream in them which didn't taste good. I'd ask for the sour cream on the side next time. Steak and fish tacos were delicious. We also had the churros. I wasn't a fan, they weren't cooked the same way as when I had them in the summer. This time they were soft and bready. The drinks were delicious. The food is very tasty here. Mera's Tip: tacos

I really can't say enough about this place. It's our third time coming here and I keep committing myself to try new things on the menu even though I fell in love with the fajitas the first time I was here- I've now also tried the enchiladas and today I tried what has turned out to be the best salmon I've ever had in my entire life in any restaurant ever. Combined with that with the fact that there's always such a wonderful vibe and energy in this place. The service is incredible and all of the food is just spectacular- one of the best restaurants in Riverdale... certainly one of the best restaurants in the Bronx and one of the Top in all of New York City in my opinion.

This place is super yummy. Made reservations for inside - they can open the whole front of the place up but it was getting a little chilly - glad I had extra layers. They bring you the menu on an ipad which is a little more difficult than a physical menu but no worries - I was still able to figure out the deliciousness I wanted to eat. Margarita was refreshing, guacamole was super yum but small. Tacos were the best. Actually ordered more 'cus I couldn't resist.

I went here after a long work day. The place gives off local Bronx energy and aesthetic with their music selection, staff, and decorations. From a neighborhood that's quickly gentrifying that authentic energy can be hard to find. I ordered the Quinoa Croquets which were the perfect blend of crunchy and soft. The quinoa exterior added a texture and crunch with the Oaxaca cheese. The croquet's are served on avocado butter which makes a nice dipping sauce. In addition to the croquets, I ordered their flor de verano which includes Gin, Lime Juice, Hibiscus infused syrup, Elderflower Liquor Topped with Prosecco. The drink was valid. It was not overtly sweet and was well balanced. One drink was enough to have me feeling good but not hungover. For my entree I ordered the steak enchilada verde. It was very tasty but needed a bit of more seasoning. I was surprised by the care and warmth of the server. She made sure to explain the menu, give recommendations and even offered to switch out a drink if we did not like it. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the BX.

I've had Cocina Chente bookmarked since pre Covid. It was a Sunday evening and my friend and I wanted to step out for drinks & food. After seeing their new summer cocktails on IG I knew Cocina Chente was the plus for us to go. So glad we did!!!! My friend arrived prior to I did & was immediately seated. As soon as you arrive there is a hostess standing outside. I was greeted then pointed in the direction to my guest. I loveeee the Beauty & The Beast decor pieces. So vibrant, giving great IG pic backdrops. The menu is accessible via QR code placed on a vase holding red flowers. We started with medium spiced guacamole (offered in mild, medium or spicy). The guacamole was very fresh as were the chips. The medium wasn't spicy to me, next time I'll definitely go with the spicy. For cocktails I had the El Guapo (seasonal drink, try it while you can), mezcal w/ jalapeño & soooo good. For my next drink I had the El Chapo, another spicy drink (did I mention spicy drinks are my thing?) also very good BUT spicier than the first drink. This drink is not for you if you can not handle spice. For my entree I had the Chicken Nachos, presented in a cast iron skillet, pipping hot, plated perfectly and very tasty. Our waitress made sure we were good the entire time, bringing more water & to go boxes. I'm so happy I was able to finally make it here. I look forward to coming back very soon for happy hour!

One of the best spots in Riverdale! Chente has great cocktails, a great outdoor dining spot, lovely interior, great service, and a menu that serves all pallets! As a vegetarian it's not always easy to find flavorful dishes. Chente makes the best Mexican corn, vegetable nachos, and guacamole around. The veggies are incredibly fresh, the plate presentation is great, and they also know how to pack takeout so it's not soggy. My husband loves the fajitas as well. Chente is one of our regular haunts.

Cutest little spot ever. Atmosphere is well put together and the staff are very nice and attentive. We got the shrimp tacos, enchiladas, and chicken quesadillas and everything was delicious. Only complaint is wish the tacos were a little bigger or came with 3 instead of two but other than that perfect place for a quick dinner or lunch. Will definitely be returning for happy hour, the drinks looked amazing!

The crispy octopus easily rivals anything I've had in Manhattan, super tender with just the right crisp. The cassava hash browns were so good I was almost annoyed by how simple they were. Paired with a rich, meaty sauce and a fresh fennel crunch, the whole dish was incredibly balanced. The wings were the most straightforward item on the menu (in the best way), lightly spiced, slightly sweet, and great for picky eaters. Someone needs to give the bartenders a raise. I ordered three drinks just to test consistency--every single one was balanced, spirit-forward, and not overly sweet. The presentation was different on each one and felt intentional without being gimmicky. I've seen some of the lower Yelp ratings and they mostly call out price, but this is very much a you get what you pay for situation. The quality of the food, the portion sizes (especially for this level of execution), and the overall intentionality behind the menu justify it in my opinion. Service was excellent. They squeezed me in last minute, and my waiter, Dionicio, handled my coconut allergy (not easy at a Dominican spot) with real care and ease. The space itself is worth mentioning - moody, mushroom/mossy interiors. Super cute, very well thought out, and definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

I always suggest to take a look at the menu and their website to see what to expect, I already knew coming here that it would be expensive and I was ready. I made a reservation online for my daughter and I and it was a very smooth service from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The drinks are worth every penny! They are made just right and it brings a lot! I ordered a lychee martini which I couldn't even finish after my meal, I forgot the name of the other drink I ordered but it was HUGE and delicious, I added a picture for reference.i ordered the oxtail samosas which were soooo goood, seafood on fire LITERALLY , and the coconut cod croquetas. For dessert I got the dulce de coco Enyucao which comes with vanilla ice cream on top, passion fruit caramel, cassava as the base and shredded coconut cake roll. The server then comes and pours a very delicious "sauce" all around it making it a beautiful experience by itself. This dessert is enough for 2/3 people. The ambiance is very cozy, trendy and refreshing. It doesn't feel like you're in the Bronx at all, it gives luxury vacation energy. The place is great for pictures. I recommend you take a cab because parking during the evening will be horrible, there's a lot of popular bars and restaurants around the area. I noticed they have changed the menu, they have taken some things out and they also change the presentation of the drinks so you might want to go directly to their website or to their Instagram to get more updated visuals of what they are currently offering. I came here last year during the spring If you want to try out their food and drinks without having to pay their gratuity and other fees, you could just order directly from the website for takeout

What a wonderful spot for you to explore…read more We wanted to take our friend out to dinner for his birthday he likes a low key style. We called a head since it was 6 of us to see if we could do a walk in or if we needed a reservation , and both options are available which is a plus. Dress attire is your choice we dressed regular nothing fancy just day to day hang out style. We were greeted kindly by the staff sat down handed a set of dominoes to play with while we waited for our food and drank some water. The place is decorated nicely and you can see the vision in mind definitely. We placed our orders and I'm not gonna lie I came in thinking the food was gonna be eh but I was blown away by the flavors. For drinks we ordered a spicy sunset, pretty young thing and cokes. The spicy sunset is a nice strong drink and is rimmed nicely with just the right amount is tajin as you drink it; it has a nice smoky after taste to it definitely was delicious. The pretty young thing was a nice citrusy drink with a little salty aftertaste, which balanced out the flavor nicely. The cokes were not water down they were good as well. For food we ordered the Cuban sandwich with parmesan fries, butter chicken wings, butter chicken macaroni and cheese, steak nachos grande, butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and mom's butter chicken platter. This was a wonderful Spanish and Indian style combination of flavors. Definitely my first time having this type of food and wow what a mind blowing experience. Not one person in the table complained or had anything negative to say about their food. We all tried each other's food and each bite we exchanged to try was delicious and better than the last . The Cuban was delicious but the parmesan fries stole the show from that meal it was paired so lovely who would've thought those flavors would've mixed nicely. The buttery chicken wings oh my God dripping with goodness each bite was legit finger licking good lol. The butter chicken macaroni very very delicious. Had a nice cheese pull and a good balance could not stop eating it. The steak nachos were delicious I wish It had a little more meat, but it was not bad. The butter chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries also delicious and the fries were cooked so nicely that it was crispy and soft at the same time per bite. The mom's butter chicken platter was delicious they gave the right amount of sauce, the pita bread was delicious and soft, the salad that it was paired with was good too the rice was decently portioned. Everything was definitely tasty. Not one complaint of any of the meals. We did not wait long for the food. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I want to come back to try more things in the menu that's how good the food was and our group agreed to also come back with us. This spot is definitely a place to try. They have a beautiful quote right near the bar that really spoke to us, especially during these times it said "you are exactly where you need to be." It makes you stop for a second and really take it in and just live in the moment ... especially living in New York, where you have to be always go go go fast fast fast. This was really beautifully written thank you to the staff who made our night and our friend's birthday special we'll see you soon.
