Guy had an attitude because someone cancelled their order over door dash and decided to take it out on the person standing in front of him ready to pick up their pre paid order! As I'm STANDING There he tosses the food in the bag carelessly, still fuming on the phone with door dash. I asked for sour cream and he says "extra"... "how much extra" I ask? "How much you want"? While the chicken on the tacos was juicy, not an ounce of seasoning was applied...like at all (to any of the food) and this is coming from someone that doesn't use salt. The food completely lacked favor. Cashier seemed as if it was an inconvenience when I entered and asked for a menu, he was so busy engaging in a personal conversation that he didn't bother to respond after I thanked him for taking my order. Great little place ! It's very low key but the tacos are good and the service is as well. We got a variety of tacos to try and enjoyed them all. Found this place on yelp was looking for a quick bite to eat in the neighborhood. Place is small on a nice quiet block. They do have outside seating which we choose to sit. First and foremost no liquor license do no margaritas smh. I wasn't aware before dining here. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious and authentic. Came back today for a quick lunch and wanted something light. I usually get nachos which have been so good and fulfilling. I've ordered a couple of times from here and they been consistent with taste and their service. This time I went with the chicken flautas they were tasty and fresh. Sauce was super delicious will definitely come back to try more things off the menu. I usually order to go but they have outdoor and indoor seating. It's only a half mile from our house. I was so excited based on my Riverdale Facebook group. People liked it, we didn't. Julie's fajitas were too salty to eat. My food was served only slightly warmed over. The decor was in three words, dark and dingy. It was also cold in there. First time here... I cannot say enough good things. Our waitress, Aimee, was so sweet and accommodating to our dietary restrictions (my sister is vegan). This is a family owned business and they done an incredible job. It is evident in their food and service. We started with guacamole. Wow! Delicious. I ordered the tacos de carne. This unpretentious cute little hole in the wall brings flavor to Riverdale finally. Instead of American Tex-Mex, Frida's offers authentic seasoning and spices on their dishes as well as quality cheeses, and the guacamole really hits home for anyone that really understands Mexican food. Definitely not overpriced for the quality of the food and even the quantity. For $40 we are quite full. We decided to get it as take-out, pictures attached. My favorite taco spot wasn't open so I tried this place one Saturday simply because it was nearby. First impression, customer service is almost non existent. When I entered I had to ask if they were actually open for business. The staff (2 women) present at the register just looked at me blankly and offered no menu, etc. After finding my own menu on a nearby table I placed my order and went outside to wait. There was plenty of seating outside along the side walk. So I picked the smallest table and sat down. However, about a minute later I was asked to get up by the same woman who took my order. I got up but I was definitely confused because the people she sat in my vacated seat where already seating themselves across from me. I literally swapped seats with them and the customers apologized to me because I'm sure they were as confused as I was. There was plenty of seating so asking me to get up made no sense because I was a customer also. After, waiting for about 20 minutes I realized the woman who took my order had no intention of letting me know when my order was ready. So I simply walked in to check the status of my order and found my order just sitting on the counter next to the cashier. Without tasting the food I knew I'd never return for poor service like that. However, she appeared to be very welcoming to the other customers because she actually smiled and greeted them. As for the food, I ordered a variety of tacos (Tacos three amigos) and shrimp. The chicken was my least favorite and to me the Al pastor was the better option. The shrimp tacos were weird to me because they were covered in yellow cheese sauce and guacamole. My first time in this spot and I have nothing but a positive experience to share. When we first sat down we got service very quickly. We started our order with two cokes, and they have the good ish!!! Glass bottle, real sugar COKES, note the crappy corn syrup kind. We started with the Guacamole and it was good fresh and tasty. We like our guac spicy and they had a wonderful red sauce that we added and it was perfect. My wife ordered the steak taco's and she was not disappointed. Each order brings three tacos and these are nice and full of deliciousness. she was full by the end of the third taco. the portions are good for many. I ordered the steak fajitas and it did not disappoint either. the plate came out sizzling, the steak was wonderfully marinated and the sauce was ohh so yummy. The best thing about this plate was that the fajitas were made with fresh masa, I ordered a second set of tortilla to go with the meal. It was the best part of the meal. Next time and there will be a next time I plan to order the enchilada. My final verdict is that this place is a great find and will soon become a jewel of the area. NYC is not known for having great Mexican food, so needless to say, I was ecstatic after taking my first bite of Frida's. It's not just "good Mexican for NYC" good, it's just fantastic, period. We've ordered a ton of things here, and everything has been a hit. The nachos are generously covered with delicious toppings (get the chorizo-- OMG!), including generous portions of guacamole, cheese, beans, and meat if desired. Love the short rib tacos, cram jam full (sorry, I've been watching a lot of GBBO) of tender, flavorful meat and more guac and cheese, at a great price of $13 for three small but very satisfying tacos. The al pastor tacos were flavorful and accompanied by tart and sweet grilled pineapple. I literally want to drink the salsas and sauces that accompany everything-- just a punch of acid and freshness and heat. We recently tried the chorizo croquettes which came with some kind of magical spicy mayo, and the empanadas (the original dish that drove me to try Frida's) are gigantic, crispy, and satisfying, a near meal in itself for $9. Everything we've had has been delicious, super fresh, and reasonably priced. Wash it all down with a very sweet but very refreshing agua fresca, like mango or pineapple, and you will feel literal exhaustion from all the flavor you've just imbibed. Well, I have not been here in a while but today I needed to post something. First off I wanted to say happy anniversary to Freda's Tacos. They opened two years ago today for a brief time and then closed because of COVID-19. After reopening they became the hit of the neighborhood. The small intimate dining room was always full as well as their impromptu outdoor seating area. It is a family run business, a very lovely family I might add. i've been going there since early on and I'm really happy that they stayed open despite the difficulties that restaurants faced during the Covid plague. But, on to today's food. It was important that I visited today because of that anniversary. I entered and was seated with the friendly greetings of the staff who I know after having been there so many times. Wanting something light for lunch I ordered a three taco plate. My choice for the three tacos was a fish taco, an al Pastor taco and a Cecina taco. The fish taco was made with expertly grilled mahi-mahi With jicama coleslaw. Second taco was Al Pastor stuffed with grilled marinated pork with pineapple onions and cilantro and last but certainly not least was the Cecina taco filled with thin sliced beef, jalapeños, onions, beans and queso fresco. They are all served in soft tasty tortillas. While waiting for the tacos to be prepared i was served a plate of delicious thin, light tortilla chips served with an unbelievably delicious salsa consisting of tomato sauce and roasted jalapeños. To wash down all of this deliciousness I ordered a glass of Agua de Jamaica. Considering that this was supposed to be a light midday snack I left feeling very comfortably full. Freda taco is truly in another class of taco restaurant. The food has always been delicious, is very innovative yet remains close to its humble Mexican street food routes. It wasn't at all what I expected given the menu description. It was in fact shrimp and imitation crab salad, with lots of mayonnaise. Not one little bit of lobster in there at all -- barely any shrimp for that matter. When I confronted the witress about it, she didn't even attempt to deny it. Found this place on Yelp after going to see a Frida exhibit at Hudson River Museum today and we had to check this place out. It was really good! Did not disappoint and everything we had was delicious and tasted fresh and legit. We order the tres amigos, short rib and al pastor and everyone loved it. We also got the fresh homemade juices; watermelon and horchata and tasted really fresh.
