Found this place on Yelp after going to see a Frida exhibit at Hudson River Museum today and we had to check this place out. It was really good! Did not disappoint and everything we had was delicious and tasted fresh and legit. We order the tres amigos, short rib and al pastor and everyone loved it. We also got the fresh homemade juices; watermelon and horchata and tasted really fresh. We also got churros for dessert and it was served with a scoop of ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce- so so great! I will def be back from neighboring Yonkers. Glad I found this spot! read more

Despite my previous review, I decided to try this place one last time. I ordered the Shrimp & Lobster taco special as recommended by the waitress. It wasn't at all what I expected given the menu description. It was in fact shrimp and imitation crab salad, with lots of mayonnaise. Not one little bit of lobster in there at all -- barely any shrimp for that matter. When I confronted the witress about it, she didn't even attempt to deny it. She told me that the kitchen told her to call it "shrimp & lobster tacos". It's dishonest, unethical and franky gross. Never again! Too bad. I really liked this place at first. read more

Frida's tacos is AMAZING. Extremely quick delivery - always! And the food is absolutely delicious. We used to order from another Mexican place in town until we decided to try Frida's. They are less expensive and SO Much better than the other place we had been ordering from. Plus the portions are way bigger than our old place so you always have something for lunch or dinner the next day. ORDER FOOD HERE! Honestly. You'll regret it if you don't. I usually ordered over the phone and after I showed up in person to return a dish that was burnt... I was dismissed and then refused further service. The server did not acknowledge us when we went there. The outside bench seat was broken and when I went to seat it did like a play ground sea saw, causing me to almost fell to the floor. Finally the waiter takes our order, we ask for guacamole n chips it was as if they only smashed the avocado no lime no cilantro more the avocado was bitter.?our food we waited 1 hour $ 20 minutes . Came to Frida's Tacos on a weekend for lunch with a friend. We sat outside at the tables built for outdoor dining with a surrounding tent. I haven't had good tacos in awhile so I was super excited to go to this family owned restaurant. There was plenty of street parking nearby when I went but it might vary based on the time of day you are checking. I got the Steak Tacos (12) and my friend got the Enchiliadas, which she was able to take some of the dish home for leftovers. We also got a side of plantains, which were fried perfectly. A sweet side dish for us to enjoy. The steak tacos were pretty good. I got very generous slices of avocados and the sauces the tacos came with it were very good. Also the seasoning on the steak paired with the pico de gallo was delicious. The pico de gallo was very fresh. For North Riverdale--a bit of a food desert due to high prices, and mediocre, uninspired restaurants--this place is an oasis. I'm impressed by the homemade tortillas, excellent salsas, and a wide range of dishes beyond tacos. Some of the mains can be a bit pricey, but the quality is there. The pork shank is a favorite in our house, and I'd never have expected scalloped potatoes of this quality from a local taqueria. As to the Yelper complaining of poor service, I've found Frida to be quick and efficient across about 7 orders, so I'm guessing you just had bad luck. If you like tacos (and, really, who doesn't?!) and live in Riverdale, this place is a must-try, at least. read more

We have eaten here twice, in the last week and were happy both times! We've ordered the chicken tacos, shrimp tacos and a bean and cheese burrito (my favorite) along with rice and beans and chips and salsa. All were great! I enjoyed their burritos. I enjoyed their quesadillas. But today I decided to order the ceviche. Sorry but ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I'm going to give constructive harsh criticism. $16.50 for ceviche and you send it in the smallest container I've ever seen. Not even fully packed. I'm gonna say this is maybe 3-4 bites and done with. For $18, remember taxes too and all those delivery and fees blah blah. So I call to find out if maybe I was given the sample size and not the full meal. With a straight face(or voice, since it was over the phone) said it was totally the right size. I was like how can you say that and he tried to tell me well it has seafood and it's more expensive items which I know but this did not have like huge chunks of any of the seafood that's in this dish. The tomato squares were bigger than the pieces of seafood. And again not even a full container. I will never go back not just because of the size of this dish but more so that they think it was perfectly fine to charge for this petty size dish and then I said to myself, jeez you could've at LEAST plate it nicer with some of your leafy greens and some strings of carrots. SOMETHING to make it look like you're serving me a nice sized plate. The burrito which I also ordered was spilling out the container which was about 4x bigger. Sorry but the EXPERIENCE and aftermath is what made me give you 1 star and to not return. read more

I used to think the Chile Rellenos here were ok...until I had great ones at another local Mexican eatery. The poblano peppers there were soft instead of Al dente like at Frida's. Their cook must not be roasting them long enough to get them soft. On a positive note, Frida's Cobb salad is quite good. read more

Found this place through yelp and always in the mood for tacos. Started off with the ceviche appetizer which was fresh and flavorful and included mango pieces which I love. Then I ordered the fish and chicken tacos. The fish were absolutely delicious, grilled to perfection and I couldn't get enough. The chicken on the other hand were a bit dry and not as tasty as the fish. Will definitely come back to enjoy this place. I can't say much about the food because I was not able to enjoy it, I specified my allergies stating seafood and all nuts and yet they gave me my order with some sauce that contained nuts. I had a bad allergic reaction couldn't finish my food and paid a lot of money for 2 orders. Again can't comment on the food but can say they have some idiots working there who don't know what contains what.
