    Chicharon de pollo(crunchy fried chicken)
    Angela R.

I haven't been here in years! What a huge, huge, huge disappointment! Food was old & disgusting! It def was sitting there since the morning(the waitress said it was sitting under the lamp when we complained about the food).Came here for a farewell dinner for my friend(she's moving to Florida). It was her,her son,my cousin, & me. We were seated right away. Waitress came twice within only a few minutes apart for our order(we hadn't even looked @ the menu). Then it's like she disappeared after the 2nd time.We had to flag down a worker for water & pressed toasted bread w/ butter(which is free). He wasn't even our waiter I think he was a busboy. We had to flag down a waitress to order after we waited a while. We all ordered food to share. I ordered a pastel (masa w/ pork meat). The masa consists of typically grated green banana, green plantain, white yautía, potato, and tropical pumpkins known as calabazas. My friend's son ordered shrimp w/ spaghetti. My friend ordered chicharron de pollo(crunchy fried chicken). My cousin ordered a Pastelillo de carne(fried turnover W/ ground beef) & and alcapurria(masa fried fritter W/ ground beef). The food came out pretty quick which wasn't a good sign. The chicharron de pollo was cold, hard, & tasted old. It was so hard I could have knocked someone out w/ it. My friend sent it back & they basically threw the same order in the fryer. So now it was oily! The ojo (garlic sauce) for the chicharron smelled like vinegar & smelly feet. It tasted worse! The pastelillo & alcapurria was so dried out & tasted like it was sitting there for a while! Nowhere near fresh! The shrimp had the tail still on it & the spaghetti was so soggy! The pastel tasted disgusting! I couldn't believe how bad the food was! It's so sad b/c this was such a good comfort spot to eat Spanish food! When the waitress asked us how things were going my friend didn't hold back! The waitress was trying to justify why the food wasn't good. She said the food has been sitting under a lamp. I was like who says that. She admitted it wasn't fresh! She was basically trying to argue w/ my friend. She didn't even knock anything off the bill. I'm surprised there was so many customers in the restaurant. On top of that most of the tables were dirty & the women's bathroom didn't have tissue. The only thing that was good was the toasted bread w/ butter! Run,run far away from this place! I wish I did!

The food is pretty good, the service is quick but on a busy night the service tends to be slower. Maybe order ahead so you don't have to wait. Ordered the chicken chunks which is my go to, so delicious. Definitely order their lunch specials

Pretty good Spanish food work is very attentive. Food is definitely amazing. Recommend the spot not too expensive. I've had a few things in this spot. Everything is delicious.

Brisas will ALWAYS have my heart!!! This is my absolute favorite Dominican restaurant in New York City. Brisas consistently delivers the most delectable Caribbean cuisine. Their oven-roasted chicken is incredibly flavorful, and the combination of rice and beans is simply exceptional. However, my utmost favorite thing from Brisas is their bread! It's unbelievably fresh and warm, truly providing a comforting experience. Brisas has been a cherished establishment since my childhood, and they have never failed to exceed my expectations. The avocado salad slaps and don't forget to order a Presidente to really get into the Dominican spirit

After over a year I decided to go back to the restaurant. The quality of the food was not as great/delicious as before. The pollo sin hueso ( bread boneless chicken) was over seasoned, dry and not soft. The rice was ok but not the best. I have know the owner for over 25 yrs when he first opened a small restaurant. I don't know what has happened with their cooking but the quality of food has went down. The service was fast though I waited a bit for my takeout order. The food has gotten very expensive and the quality of food not the best anymore. It appears as the years go by when I visit the Bronx from out of town the food is not the same. The ambience is ok.

Don't come. Nothing was good. Not even the appetizers. This place used to be better. We had moving, chicken , pernil. What a waste.

I tried calling the one on Crescent Ave but got no answer after having the phone ring for a while. But I decided to go with this location because Crescent said 9 p.m., and this one said 10 p.m. The location is on a busy street. We did get Lyft, so that wasn't an issue for us. But you might have to walk a bit if there's no parking. It's spacious outside when you first enter, and there are two sides to be seated. We were seated right away and given menus. The decor is cute, and the wall artwork is colorful and lovely. Great music was playing late at night. We did arrive after 8:30, more like 8:45ish. They were out of something we wanted to order, but the server, I think, his green apron, said Juan. I'm not sure if he said his name at the time. As I said, we were hungry, which was the main focus, not to mention arriving before they closed. The appetizers were delicious. I suggest getting two if you have a big group because three pieces on a plate are insufficient for four people. The food came out promptly, everything was delicious, and we enjoyed every bite. I hope to return and get the name of what we ordered. I'll use that as an excuse to return because everything looked good on the menu. I know we got Chicharron, flan, and tres leche, but the names of the dishes Yes, I could look at the menu, which I took a picture of, but I would prefer to go back

The crispy octopus easily rivals anything I've had in Manhattan, super tender with just the right crisp. The cassava hash browns were so good I was almost annoyed by how simple they were. Paired with a rich, meaty sauce and a fresh fennel crunch, the whole dish was incredibly balanced. The wings were the most straightforward item on the menu (in the best way), lightly spiced, slightly sweet, and great for picky eaters. Someone needs to give the bartenders a raise. I ordered three drinks just to test consistency--every single one was balanced, spirit-forward, and not overly sweet. The presentation was different on each one and felt intentional without being gimmicky. I've seen some of the lower Yelp ratings and they mostly call out price, but this is very much a you get what you pay for situation. The quality of the food, the portion sizes (especially for this level of execution), and the overall intentionality behind the menu justify it in my opinion. Service was excellent. They squeezed me in last minute, and my waiter, Dionicio, handled my coconut allergy (not easy at a Dominican spot) with real care and ease. The space itself is worth mentioning - moody, mushroom/mossy interiors. Super cute, very well thought out, and definitely a place I'll be coming back to.
