Came across this little jem and let's just say that soup hit the spot!! And the Morir soñando is so good. Their freshly squeezed orange juice is definitely a must too to top off the whole order. This was my first visit, Thursday 7:30pm and the place was empty. I ordered a half chicken with yucca (cassava) and a large chicken soup to go. Total $13. Later I added a flan. I bought the food home excited to have finally found a good spanish spot but was sadly disappointed with the first bite. The chicken was dry and not well marinated despite my putting the mojito sauce all over it, it still tasted bland. The yucca was mushy and not flavorful, and it had a tiny piece of pickled onion over it The chicken soup is mostly noodles, the broth is a bit salty but tasty. Still I was hoping for a soup with vegetables, carrots and potatoes and lots of chicken, sadly this wasn't that soup. Oh well. Glad to see that other people have enjoyed this place in the past but it isn't for me. I'll stick to El Nuevo Bohio on East Tremont for my chicken and yucca! Happy Yelping read more

Food was OK, the appearance of the restaurant wasn't very good and very messy. Came to eat here for the first time and was never told that if you sit to eat there is an extra charge of $2 dollars per plate which NO ONE told us about. What kind of restaurant offers free delivery but wants to charge a fee to sit and eat? I'm not a Latin so I don't know if this is how the food supposed to taste like or I just went in very bad day,let's start with the fact the staff in the front doesn't speak English, I'm not judging no one but if u asking me u guys losing some potential customers, they had to get someone from the kitchen to communicate with me....I got chicken stew who was ok but no more than that, got it with yellow rice & vegetables, and it was so dry like it came from the bottom of the pot, also got spaghetti but it was tasted very very wird, it left some bad taste in my mouth, not going to give it chance anytime soon because it gave me pretty bad experience read more

Rating goes more or less to staff and the overall restaurant. They claim to open at 7:00am, but I have been there, not one, not 2 but on 3 different occasions trying to get an Avena at 7:15am and the gates are still closed. On a different occasion I went in for an Avena and Iced coffee and the girl up front messed up my order twice and charged me $7.50 for my 2 items. When I asked if that was the prices for my 2 items, she said "yes, we charge tax on the food now". Now I wouldn't have had a problem about the prices if I hadn't gone in 3 days later for just the avena and be charged $2.18 for the large cup. They are not consistent with how much their food is, and they the ladies up front look like they never want to be there. Only reason why I put up with the attitude is because they are right around the corner from my house and don't mind the 5 minute walk for food when I'm in the mood for Dominican style. Definitely not a place that I would travel more that 10 minutes to get to. The food overall is a solid 4 stars because the food is not always consistent. OK with regard to my just posted review. I settled on getting a chicken soup in place of the bacalao they didn't have. They were very pleasant at this place and they did deliver the other food correctly. Pretty good food although this isn't puertorican food it's more of a fast food location . I had a sit down here with my wife and it was good. I loved the beans and rice . We ordered the fried chicken bits ( chicharrón de pollo sin hueso ) and it was pretty good . The family meal is the best deal it's 18.99 and feeds four people . I stopped by this restaurant on the fly while in the area during lunch hours. In typical NY Dominican restaurant style, the ladies at the counter we're disorganized, slow, but nice. I ordered the roast pork with rice and beans. The pork was wet, undercooked, slimy and tasteless for what is normal at these restaurants. The rice was tasteless, over cooked, swollen, and sticky. They have the best pernil the rice is ehhh needs work but besides that everything is great.

Sometimes the portions are a little off, but my kids love 3 golpes from this place (traditional Dominican breakfast of fried cheese, salami and eggs over mangú), and it is the only place in walking distance who offers it. We missed them when they had a "B" rating, but we are glad they got their "A" back! I agree with the other reviews it says it's faster to walk in than to order delivery, even though the service is relatively inattentive. You also get better portions if they're serving you while you are watching, wink wink. The fact that they charge a fee to eat in is a bit absurd because the tables and chairs are not comfortable, the place isnt really clean, and sometimes the TV is loud! I think it might be because the culture of this neighborhood is to not tip servers very well-though again one could argue the service is not great- but I'm happy eating in the comfort of my own home, so it all works out read more

The reviews are right about this place, the pernil is off the hook. Make sure you say yes when they ask if you want skin. White rice is really, really good too. Salad had super fresh crispy lettuce and juicy cucumber. Service was very friendly, fast to go, and they got me exactly what I wanted. This place is an absolute gem. why 1 star? because i made a order around lunch time, told the nice lady over the phone not to give me a LUNCH service instead give me separate plates of the things i wanted. the total of that was 8.00 + 1.00 can soda and it equals 9.00....... receive my order it wasn't in separate plates, it was a lunch that cost 5.00..... i called back told them this inst what i asked for. they send me what i wanted the delivery guy said its 13.00 im like how i paid the first order and now your going to over charge me? i called the business spoke to a lady on the phone she said it was 9.00.... i get a call back im guessing it was from a manager and she was rude and i guess she was trying to figure out what happened but the way they handled things was horrible they wanted me THE CONSUMER to pay more send the food that i got at first back for something i had already paid for it was their mistake. over 4.00 i don't get mad but they tried to play me with mall quantity of food and for something that cost 5.00 and then try to charge me again for another soda that never arrived and for more "food"... please the manager needs a life check. the women that take the orders are nice but just slow. don't know what the hell they are doing. they need to know customers have the right always, specially when it wasn't the customers fault !
