The drinks, service and place gets a 10 out of 10 for me. The food is cooked perfectly. Sometimes I'll go to places that exaggerate on the salt and spice but this place is balanced! The portions are not too big or small. A meal here will for sure do the trick without an appetizer. Highly recommend coming here or ordering out. Everything was clean (especially the bathroom). I went to the Bronx to enjoy a show at Lehman Performing Arts center and stopped for dinner at Caridad because they have a parking lot. Parking in the Bronx can be a nightmare. I truly enjoyed an excellent dinner and the service was great. The atmosphere in this place was fantastic, a very busy restaurant with lots of people laughing and enjoying their food and having a splendid time. Their roasted chicken is finger licking good. I came here with a large group for lunch after church service in the area. The place was spacious and quite busy. It had a welcoming feel and warm ambiance. For my appetizer, I ordered the mini fried green plantain bowls filled with crabmeat. This was delicious! The plantain was perfectly cooked and delightfully crispy, while the crabmeat was tender, and well seasoned. I selected the steak with onions with yellow rice for my entree. The steak was juicy, succulent, with a wonderfully flavorful savory sauce. The onions were also tasty and paired well with the steak. The yellow rice was nice and puffy, made just the right consistency. The portions were generous, and I took much of the meal home. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and everything came out quickly, despite us being such a big group. If you're in the Kingsbridge Bronx NY neighborhood and looking for some decent Latin food this spot hits nicely. Food is good. I had the grilled chicken with some tostones and rice. I added some garlic sauce and lemon to the chicken to flavor it up a bit. Rice was good and the tostones were lightly crisp. The staff were nice and accommodating. I give it 3 stars because I went in and had to ask for our plates to be changed due to it being dirty. Then when my side salad got to the table it was also served on a dirty plate. Holy shit this place is a must go for all people that lived in Puerto Rico. I am in love and my wife loved the food also. We lived there in the mid 90's and have not found a place that matched the wonderful flavors of our former home (ceiba, PR). I love this restaurant. Best oxtail in Riverdale. All of what they cook is delicious. I typically order from there at least 1 a week. Excellent prices and service in house and for delivery. So this has been a main staple of my Bronx journey. From the time I moved into the neighborhood this and one other spot was the go to if you wanted decent Spanish food. Caridad being the more upscale sit down for dinner date night spot almost. Over the years they have been touch an go for me in terms of the quality of food for the price point has they have gotten more expensive and food quality and portions down. I just love Caridad. I still frequent this restaurant and the food is just fantastic as per usual. They are still so welcoming and I truly love whenever I show up, the waitress is so excited to see my fiance and I. Not to mention, it's so close to my home that it's so easy for me to get to. I love their Authentic Dominican food, same way my mom used to cook. Unfortunately, she lives in Florida and I live in New York, so this is as good as it gets for me. Your beans or rice may be too salty one day, you may be given hard rice or a taste less pepper steak. It's bad. 2. Why should you pay $15 for the same food you would take out for $8 & not get 1 bit of any customer service or complimentaries to warrant that? 3. If you don't look like a typical Dominican (whatever that looks like), it seems the staff will treat you differently. Possibly do to language barrier. To that I say, hire people w couple people who can speak both English & Spanish. This venue is one of a small local chain that serves a wide Spanish Caribbean variety including Puerto Rican, Dominican and Cuban dishes. Seafood and meats are incredibly fresh and prices are comfortable. The manager came over to our table to describe the baby goat meat we had ordered, that it was so fresh it had been cavorting on the grass earlier that day. TMI alert!!! I'm carnivorous by nature, but that almost put me off my feed. Almost. Best baby goat I ever had. The soups are decadent. Friday is my favorite day since the soup special is Seafood. The bowl comes brimming with king crab legs, lobster claws and hardy broth. The Sancocho is full of chunk meats and yucca. If you like Pernil, you're in the right place. So juicy. The oxtail lunch special and the roast chicken lunch special are similarly on the mark. Stretch your palate and try the Mofongo- mashed green plantains spicy with garlic, olive oil, and fried pork. Just don't breathe on anyone when you get back to work and that next meeting. Service varies from good to superb. Ask for Aguedo. He's easy on the eyes and even better, an excellent waiter. Save room for the Tres Leches cake. Seriously. It is a slice of heaven. Light cake, with a thin slather of frosting, in a sweet milk sauce, so moist and delectable, you will be smiling from ear to ear from each bite. Get a cafe con leche while you're at it. So good. Portions here are ENORMOUS. A lunch special for one is like a family style serving. It's crazy. You can have lunch and dinner from it and still have enough left over to share with someone else or have again for breakfast. One caveat: Bring earplugs. Everyone that sang were very gifted. We were in the mood for our regular dishes; Camarafongo (Shrimp with a fried plantain dish) and pernil (roasted pork shoulder) with rice and beans. But before you even order, you're greeted with a basket of hot, fresh garlic bread. We always ask fo a second basket for 2 simple reasons. Really good place for food. They offer big delicious portions. An order of food will get two people full. My friends and I shared a shrimp penne a la vodka. Even though this isn't an Italian place, the penne was pretty good. The shrimp made the penne pretty strong tasting. We also had the Chicken Mofongo. It was first time trying this dish and it was delicious. I would never have thought plantains would taste good with Chicken. However, I did not like the separate Chicken pieces that came with the Mofongo though. It was too salty for my taste. If you feel like splurging, get the Virgin Pina Colada.
