Duck was good, but there could've been more sauce on the plate bc it has more flavor than the meat itself. Food was also kinda lukewarm when it arrived, but not too much. Liked the potatoes and carrots. Took a few bites of my family's gnocchi and risotto. Those were friggin great. Appetizer soufflé was pretty good. Tbh we didn't know most of the stuff on the plate, but it was nice and earthy. Got two desserts - granita and tiramisu. We all liked the tiramisu better. The granita was good too, but it was basically just a bowl of cold, slippery "red". Violet soda's aftertaste was nice and floral, but it was otherwise just straight-up carbonation. They also put way too much ice in the glass. I know all restaurants do that, but they legit filled it to the brim (in the pic, I'd already taken a few sips). Waiters were all nice, and ambience was nice, but also noisy. read more

WHAT and experience! My husband and I were a little scared looking at the prices, expecting a food salad of words in the menu but no substance. How wrong were we! Don't get me wrong- they grab you by the pocket book but every bit, every sip, every smell is worth it! After 21 years together my husband surprised me with a food and wine pairing experience. What an experience this was! Every bit tickled the senses in ways I didn't know existed! Pairings of food choices I would have never thought! Not to mention a. Waitress who truly valued what she did and spoke about it passion. My husband and I both left there full, satisfied mentally and emotionally, and happy we experienced something like this. If you have the time and $$ highly recommend! read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for over a year, and every time I have tried, often the day of, I have not been able to get a reservation. I highly recommend booking in advance! All I can say is this was one of the most hospitable, warm and welcome I have felt coming into a restaurant of this stature in a very long time. Definitely the most welcome in Colorado. The service professionals took a real down to earth approach to storytelling and took the time to ensure we were going to get the experience we were looking for. One of the first things our incredible bartender, Storm, did was ask us about dietary restrictions and food allergies. I appreciated being asked before the drinks were discussed because I have an allergy to grapes and cannot indulge in wine. For our meal we ordered two dishes from the starters/antipasti section, then we decided because the food was so delicious, to share a tasting menu that way we could get a wider variety and see what we'd like to order on our next visit. The ambiance was different in that the music playing was very transient, kind-of reminiscent of what you would expect in a trendy European-style hotel, while the lighting and decor matched that of a classy Italian restaurant with cozy nooks and eloquent reading corners. What I liked the most was the many separated rooms this restaurant utilized to make the experience feel like I was dining in someone's home and enjoying a home-cooked meal. While these did contrast, overall it somehow worked. The cocktails we ordered were some of the best I have ever had, specifically the strawberry-campari-mezcal riff on a negroni that was so well made. The bitter campari married beautifully with their espadín mezcal with the bright strawberry flavor acting as a blending agent. We later learned this was bartender, Storm's, newest creation. Really a job well done. Barolo grill is an approachable restaurant that can appeal to many audiences and age groups, as long as they are comfortable with a longer (several courses) dining experience than other restaurants nearby. Perfect for private parties, date nights, special occasions and after-work cocktails/small plates. Kerry, the manager also was gracious enough to stop by and thank us for choosing to spend our date night alongside his team. Grazie mille!!! We can't wait to come back and try more! read more

What a spectacular dining experience. My husband and I came here for our 2 year wedding anniversary. We both did the tasting menu and all dishes were absolutely wonderful. The only thing I disliked was the Fritto Misto, I feel that could have been a bit more tasty, it was bland. The pasta was probably our favorite course, both the lobster pasta and the sage one were delicious. Our server recommended a bottle of Arnies wine and we are now obsessed. Service was great, our server was extremely knowledgeable and we appreciated that. Highly recommended. read more

I have no idea why this is rated, as far as this writing, a 4.2. The BG is a five. We had a wonderful family dinner with great wine and atmosphere. Highly recommend. Also, kudos to our server Kurt! read more

4.5 Stars... For our Anniversary dinner we decided ( meaning my wife picked it!) on Barolo. It was a great choice: Nice ambiance, great dining options, amazing wine selections...and most importantly I could stagger home afterwards. First...service is amazing. Alex attended to us and she was top notch with her great knowledge of the menu and wines. Her pace of dining was absolutely perfect. Food....We opted for the 4 course with wine pairing ( not the premium wines). I would highly suggest you do the same as the 4 course meal is fantastic. Great selection to choose from. The wine pairings were AMAZING. Even the dessert wine paired insanely well with my Chocolate mousse. Probably the only minor flaw was my choice to have Truffles on my pasta course. The Truffles were good but the thing with these fickle beasts is that they are best when they are freshly picked. The Truffles did not have that pungent "Je ne sais quoi"...and yes I have had amazing fresh picked Truffles in Croatia, Périgord, and Alba. All in All I will come back and bring friends as this place just does it right. Check out their wine book...anyplace that has DRC ( and we are not talking just one or two vintages) is a place to be taken seriously!! Highly recommend the 4 course with wine pairings as you will have a real treat. read more

Food was outstanding!!!!! Service incredible! Everything was what you'd expect from a Michelin rated restaurant! I highly recommend the salads, risotto with lobster and the pork tenderloin. Then the cheese cake was divine as was the chocolate cake. This is a charming restaurant that accommodates handicapped as I was having hip surgery the next morning requiring I use a walker to get around and staff did everything possible to help me get comfortable!! You'll not be disappointed. We don't drink, but they have a sommelier who will help pair your pallet to the dishes you've ordered. read more

For all the hype and high prices, it was mediocre food. As if a creative chef just got tired and put out anything. For those reputation and prices I would expect the flavors to be complex or spot on, it was two-dimensional at best. Ambiance and wine was great though. read more

Extremely expensive for what you get. Their duck came out frozen in the center. They had to go remake it however everyone was done eating by that time. Did not offer any discount on the bill or even mention the duck. Over priced for just mediocre food. read more

Barolo Grill was excellent. The food was great and the service was exceptional. The restaurant has a very nice ambience; at least in the darker months. I suspect something would be lost on a July evening with sun streaming in. It can be a little loud, but not overly so. The tasting menu is definitely the way to go. You pick 4 different courses, and have a leisurely night of good food and relaxation. I chose the Fritto Misto, Ravioli di aragosta, Maiale, and mousse nocciole. They were all excellent. I would happily return to Barolo Grill. It is a very nice, unpretentious culinary experience. It also has a Michelin star, if that kind of thing interests you. 2 thumbs up! Give it a try. read more

One of the best fine dining spots in Denver! Here for a four course dinner . - yellowtail: great fish, but the dressing was a little too heavy. I liked the flavor though. It was special and appetizing - duck: loved the olive juice used to braise the duck! Very tender and flavorful, but also sophisticated - carrot cake: great dessert with dried sage ice cream Love this place! read more

My fiance and I were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner, but away from crowds, so we decided on Barolo Grill. So glad we did because this was one of the best meals I've had in Denver. We loved the private and heated bungalow, the food, and the service. The bungalows were so cool. Since we are a little more COVID cautious than most, the little sheds made it so we could go out to dinner safely and comfortably. We reserved the bungalow a week or so in advance, and we were pleasantly surprised with the setup when we arrived. The bungalows have little windows so the servers can check in without having to go in (except for delivering food and clearing items), the heaters are surprisingly warm (didn't need to wear our jackets and it was 40 degrees out), and each bungalow is private and cute. The 4-course tasting meal is pricy, but wow, it was amazing. Totally worth it! Honestly, everything was amazing, but some of our favorites were the fegato d'anatra, risotto alla zucca, bistecca di manzo, and the torta di formaggio. The foie gras was unreal and went so well with the winter fruit compote (highly recommend for the first course), the risotto was so creamy and I unexpectedly loved it (I originally planned on another pasta, but I was allergic to an ingredient in it), the tenderloin melted in my mouth and we cooked so perfectly that I could've cried happy tears into it, and the cheesecake was so tasty that we didn't even realize it was bleu cheese until we finished (it sounds odd, but I swear it's amazing). I was so full afterwards I thought I'd pop. The servers were also so attentive and helpful. My server even caught that one of the dishes I chose actually had an ingredient in it I was allergic to. She suggested another dish, and I was definitely not disappointed. All of the staff were busy, but so helpful and friendly. Top notch service. I can't recommend Barolo enough. It's worth the price, especially if you reserve one of the bungalows. Definitely check this place out if you haven't! read more

I went here with my fiancé one evening - it was fantastic! She ordered a risotto, I got the pasta included in the picture (pardon me, we went there a while ago and I forget specifically what it was). Everything about our meal was wonderful. I still think about the buttery sage flavors I tasted that night. Our server was great! Super friendly and told us all about the restaurant. I felt like I really knew what the place was about. Speaking of the restaurant - it's very nice. Very similar to a typical ristorante you might go to in Italy. We'll definitely be going back someday, it's well worth it. read more

Warm, inviting interior. Our server was friendly and very knowledgable about the food and wine without being pretentious or stuffy. The hand-made pasta was excellent, as was the pork tenderloin. Wow.Wow.Wow! Northern Italian cuisine, homey yet elevated ambience. This place is it! When walking in, you're immediately greeted by staff. It is certainly defined as a fine dining experience, but does not feel stuffy. I loved how attentive the staff were, and most importantly, they were incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes. Each staff member knew about all of the ingredients, etc. and seemed genuinely excited to be working there. The food was excellent. And they're wine list, even better. I can't wait to come back here. In Denver for decades and have had several memorable meals at Barolo, but now memorable for all the wrong reasons. My wife and I and 3 grown children home for a visit were looking for a special night out. Let's start with cocktails, but no--unless you have a physical ID. Daughter with phone photo of DL and passport was denied service. Dad heads home to retrieve acceptable evidence of birthday. Of course it's all because CO has oppressive laws, but I'm not buying it. This is a restaurant that celebrates wine as part of the dining experience, but doesn't have judgement to figure out who is trying to break the law. An hour later, we order food and pastas were generally bland. Son reports Salmon was tasty. No interest in sticking around for dessert or returning to Barolo. Ambiance is fine but not remarkable. read more

I would give this place 5 stars because the food and service was fantastic, but the crazy soup nazi at the door was so unpleasant. She would yell at people that didn't automatically know her rules for coming in and doing what she wanted. It was so off putting that if he hadn't been meeting friends, we would have walked out! Luckily our server was the complete opposite, he was kind and attentive. He had a lot of great recommendations. All the food was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection with unique flavors! The exception was the donuts that were a bit too dry and would have been better served fresh and warm. Overall this place has great food and service read more

My husband I will first say to celebrate our 25th Anniversary last Saturday October 18th, and being the first time we've been to Barolo Grill, we had a great experience with the atmosphere, hospitality, service and food. We were already planning to make reservations for our next visit and then it came time to pay my husband handed over his debit card and a few minutes later the server returned and informed us the card didn't go through. Perplexed, we immediately checked our banking app, everything was fine; called 24/7 banking customer service, everything was fine: no holds, no fraud detected, no approvals needed for the amount being charged and as such they stated it is on the vendor's end. We told this to the server and they brought my husband up to the card reader which is when we found out a PIN number was needed to process the payment which we did and then the bill was settled. In 25+ years of dining out together we've never had to enter a PIN number to pay for our meals. This debacle was totally embarrassing! So much so, that I had to leave the table to wait in our vehicle while my husband did my research. This could have been the perfect evening of dining out and celebrating but instead we had to deal with this embarrassment, frustration and inconvenience. They really need to update how they process payments or get a new card reader vendor, or perhaps provide staff training on the matter to avoid this. We called Barolo Grill on our way home to speak to a manager but was told they were out until next Thursday 10/23. A Ryan called us right back and got our information and details, apologized and said they were going to be looking into the matter and would follow up with us. Instead, we got crickets, nothing, never heard back from anyone. The experience was absolutely mortifying! We are major foodies, we dine out all the time, and we would have put Barolo Grill on our list to frequent but after this experience we will never go back, it's their loss! read more

"Underwhelming..." Really surprised this is the rating I'm giving...and if I could give half stars on Yelp I'd add on an additional half star. To start, I came here for my friends holiday party and the food was AMAZING. Because it was so good that previous time, I convinced my boyfriend to come back even with the high price tag of $95 per person. We ordered the carpaccio, lamb pasta, lobster risotto, duck with garlic potatoes, and tiramisu (all pictured). Being frank...we were not impressed at all, the food was presented very nicely but the flavors were very mediocre and we both agreed we could make better at home. The carpaccio was bland and hard to chew and the topping tasted like salted kettle chips. The lamb pasta tasted only like raw bell peppers, and the duck was VERY sweet with a side veggies and potatoes that I could've made just by throwing them in the oven. Personally I loved the lobster risotto so I have to give some points for that. The tiramisu was okay... had a great olive oil cake base but was a bit too deconstructed to enjoy for me personally. Putting food aside the service and ambiance were both stellar, just incredibly underwhelmed by the food in comparison to other restaurants we've eaten at for this price point. Again, I did have a wonderful experience the first time I went so maybe we just happened upon a bad menu grouping. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant for a good date night, even during Covid. And honestly - I don't like sitting inside anywhere now a days for meals but I made an exception for Barolo. Plus - they have a good 50% capacity and flow inside. But the tasting menu and the food is awesome. It's Italian, but mostly north Italian touches and great fixed price menus. Things to do - 1) loved the seafood and duck options 2) always always get a homemade pasta 3) no true vegetarian entrees but the chef is accomodating 4) must do the wine pairings!!! So - get out of your yoga clothes and zoom meetings, and come out for a great adult meal. read more

This was the perfect place to celebrate my big 4-0! My partner and I did the 4 course tasting menu with regular wine pairings. I believe the premium wine pairings are older vintages. For me the regular was fantastic! We started with some champs and their fantastic focaccia roles. Def ate 2 of those bad boys! What I loved the most were the options. We tried 2 different items for each course so we could try everything and 100% it was all perfectly cooked and seasoned. This place is pretty high end so it's mainly a restaurant for a special occasion or when someone else is picking up the check. My first time eating in the restaurant (I've done takeout once during full lockdown) and while it was a good experience, I was expecting excellent, given the reputation and prices. We called ahead for a last minute reservation and they graciously accommodated us. Got seated immediately. There were a lot of people eating but I felt like the ambiance was a letdown. The decor was understated. Our server gave us the rundown of the menu and drink options, emphasizing they had a full bar. Unfortunately, one person in my party tried to order three separate cocktails and they did not have what he wanted for any of them. Affected the mood a little bit. We ordered from the 4 course menu. I got a soufflé for an appetizer, ravioli for primi course, pork tenderloin for secondi, and a chocolate hazelnut mousse for dessert. The soufflé and ravioli were decent (but not amazing, little one dimensional on flavor). The pork tenderloin was excellent. I liked the mousse, but I felt like it needed a little whipped cream to cut down on the richness, again one dimensional. Overall, I felt like this place was okay. I just had higher expectations given what I knew about it. read more

TRUE Northern Italian. When living in the area, I did frequent this wonderfully creative atmosphere which lent to the most delicious Northern Italian food, one slumps in their chair as eyes roll back in sheer pleasure. Also, how the owner cares for his employees, ASK when you go in for a pleasurable night. Reservations are highly recommended. One may sit at the bar for a single night of pleasure or have a reservation for a small party, all should be called in advance. In addition to the food, the WINES..........allow them to recommend a wine, AND, they are amenable to vegetarians! We came here during the week with a group and I was really impressed with how knowledgeable our server was regarding every item on the menu -- when we asked for recommendations, he delivered! The rosemary bread was warm and delicious and instantly put an end to my extreme hanger. Throughout the meal, we tried several different dishes. Two of my favorites were the Insalata d'inverno and Risotto alla zucca. In general, I preferred the antipiasti & insalate and the primi piatti dishes to the secondi piatti dishes; out of the secondi piatti plates, I enjoyed the duck (Anatra di barolo) the most. For dessert, the cheesecake (Torta di formaggio) was the shining star for me, and I don't even consider myself a cheesecake fan. Our server recommended a bottle of red that we all enjoyed. Despite a lovely atmosphere with generally tasty food, I, as expected, had a second dinner after leaving Barolo Grill in order to fill up. For a higher priced meal like one at Barolo Grill, it always hurts inside a bit to walk away hungry, but I still enjoyed the dining experience. Great plus having a parking lot connected to the restaurant! read more

Fancy and delicious. We did the four course tasting and sat in one of the private bungalows. Our server was nice and knowledgeable and he was able to help us pick a tasty bottle of wine. The food portions are a good size for a tasting, not too small not too big, we shared everything and we had some leftovers.
