Would be 5 stars if it wasn't for LIZZIE who was RUDE, RACIST, and extreme. My bf got a call and went outside to talk while I wasn't aware (I was using restroom) and I followed, Lizzie ran outside and yelled that we had not payed. We payed either way and she claimed that we did not. Lizzie was screaming and calling us names while other coworkers like Vivian were being so accommodating. Lizzie is the worst server here. No patience, rude, very dismissive. The other ladies were amazing. If you're a cashier don't speak for the costumer when you don't know what's going on. She claimed we were leaving the place without paying yet my bf got an important call so he walked outside and I wasn't of aware since I was in the restroom. Barneys now has my heart. Some of the nicest people I have ever come into contact with worked at Barneys and were patrons there. Our large group walked in on a Saturday night and found a table with newfound friends! We had the absolute pleasure of getting Allie as our server. She was PHENOMENAL! One of the sweetest and most genuine human beings. She was so attentive and brought us everything we needed. We even got to meet the manager, Kiki, as she was making her rounds making sure everything was running smoothly. Kiki was a delight! So personable and kind. The drinks were so tasty and the music was great. Barneys is definitely a good time. We will definitely be going back! read more

This place could be awesome, but sadly it's pointlessly run down. The walls are clean, the floor is clean, the tables are gross, the pockets sag and bounce out your straight on shots. Four staff members behind the counter and not one of them checking tables for drinks or food needs. The blandest potato skins and bacon ever. They don't even have hand chalk in the house (I asked for it). The only quality employee we had was Sophia. Then my vodka soda slid off the drink table and shattered on the floor due to a slanting table top. At $20 an hour for tables this place is weak. With a few bucks invested and some decent management this place would be amazing and justify the cost per hour for tables. read more

This is place to go when you're trying to watch out of town games. There's TVs everywhere- even in each individual booth. It has a fun, low key ambiance and a great drink/beer selection. The menu is more limited but for vegans you can do the veggie burger in a lettuce wrap- the rolls aren't vegan. The have vegan chili as well, though I can't speak to how it is. At night they get to pretty crowded with a drinking crew and it's a lot of fun. read more

Had a bartender "reserving a seat" for clients that were already there. They had walked out for a smoke. Those clients had been sipping on the same beer for a long time! We walked up and ordered a round of shots then ordered another round when the bartender literally had us move from the stools for the clients that were sipping on the same beer. I was there with family & friends and looking to have a good time and willing to spend money but the bartender chose to sit ppl there that were probably going to sit there and sip on there hot beer lol. With friends yesterday, Friday night, looking for a good spot in Old Town for karaoke and hit up Barney's Tiki Room in the basement. There's no doubt it's a fun time with a good crowd, people who are supportive and enjoy being there. The bartenders are attentive to those who are at the bar as well. The person who runs the karaoke this past Friday night, however, was quite possibly the worst example of a karaoke DJ I have ever encountered. We got there around 9pm and immediately put in our songs. He said it'd be about an hour wait. No problem we tipped him a buck as this is our usual gesture to the DJ to let them know I appreciate their time and attention in advance. After listening to multiple people get up and sing 2 or 3 times, we inquired again after an hour an a half. The karaoke DJ then very bluntly informed us that if we wanted to sing like the others we would have to "tip to skip". Now, I understand tipping to get someone up there on a special occasion to make sure it's a special time. But the guy who ran this karaoke was just taking money from the same people to essentially have them have their own karaoke party. The other karaoke nights around town are run by pretty conscientious karaoke DJs - they accept tips, sure, but they make sure that the people who haven't had a chance to sing yet in an evening get priority. That's because karaoke is about everyone having a good time. It's about inclusivity, regardless of who you are, how you sing, what music you like, or how much money you have in your pocket. This person who runs the karaoke at Barney's was inconsiderate and non-inclusive towards most of the customers last night who wanted to sing, but didn't tip him $20 or more. This Barney's has a nice vibe, but they need to reconsider who they get to run their karaoke. read more

Pretty awful NON-service attitude. We inadvertently left our card at the bar with an open tab and had driven all the way back to Long Beach. Called immediately and the guy who answered had to be persuaded after many requests to simply take our number down to pass it on to the manager. He finally said he would and the manager would call the next morning. Come noon the next day, no call, so we called and was graciously answered by the manager on duty. She took our name and address and said she would mail the card. Good enough and over? No. A week goes by, no card. Called and spoke to the then manager on duty, Ashley, who was so abrupt and doesn't listen that one has to talk over her to get the story across. (She calls it yelling at her when she interrupts you and you keep talking to try to convey the situation.) She kept saying "We don't mail cards, so nobody would have told you that." However, my wife and I know what we heard on the phone the week before. She then hung up. I called back, to which she said she had "accidentally" hung up and would "take down my name and number" and get back to me. (Sounds pretty indefinite, yes?) After asking multiple times for who her manager was, she mentioned the name "A.J. Shaher" and said he could be reached at an "email" she said was "barneysbeanerypasadena.com", which I told her wasn't an email address. She then said it's a website and that's where he could be contacted. I then got off the phone and tried it, and it's not a website. Calling back yet again, she said that she had found the manager, Vivian, whom I had spoken with last week and that "Vivian said that we don't mail cards". That was not true and, again, my wife overheard the very gracious conversation I had had with, I guess, Vivian, the week before when she had taken my address specifically to mail the card, never protesting mailing it once. But, again, Ashley is very clear on her opinion on things and definitely wants to express them rather than listen to a customer's situation. The beer and the cocktail we had last week were fine, but we'll never frequent this establishment again merely because a NON-service orientation such as this should never be financially supported. read more

Where to begin.... Food and drinks are fine, but that's where it ends. The service is horrid at best. We ate and had a beer downstairs and caught the end of a laker game before going upstairs to play pool, just four of us. Mind you there was no mention of a 90 minute limit and we were told the tables were paid for hourly. After spending a few hundred dollars at least in pool, food, and drinks, an unbelievably rude woman comes to our table and tells us we need to close out our tabs and leave because there is a long wait. We told her that we weren't told about any time limit to which she replied " get out of my face". Literally seconds later some ogre of a security guard arrives at our table ready to literally carry my 100lb girlfriend down the stairs and out of the building. We were no trouble, were minding our own business and behaving like good bar patrons, and we were treated like scum. Never have I been treated which such grotesque disrespect. Whoever the two women were working upstairs on Friday, March 31 were absolutely the most rude unprofessional people in customer service I have ever encountered. I had an inexcusably awful experience with Liz C ( #1075) on the night of Sunday, January 24. My Girlfriend and I arrived and placed an order for a Cali Burger, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Carne Asada fries, and a Barneys IPA at 7:55 PM. Our bill was $40 and change, and we left a 5$ tip, which is around %12, which is by no means bad for a takeout order with no additional service( Considering that 6.07 is 15%). We received our food and sat at the outside table, which was part of the outside corridor, so we were perfectly in our right to do that( we even asked if it was ok, and they said it was). once our food arrived my girlfriend asked to use the restroom, and there was no problem, she was granted the privilege to use the bathroom. Around 8:30 PM we were getting ready to leave, and I wanted to use the restroom as well, and went to the side entrance and asked if I may. Liz said no and at first, I thought she was joking, so I laughed, but she was serious. I then replied that my girlfriend just used it, why was I not allowed to? she said that it was because they were closing( keep in mind that it was 8:30 PM, and their business hours stated that they were open until 10 PM), I had seen other people using the restroom, so I will admit that I was curious why I was singled out. I walked away irritated, then sat back down. I did not mention this to them, but I have a congenital birth defect that necessitates that I use the restroom frequently, and I had just drunk water and really needed to use the facilities. I returned to the entrance and asked why I was being singled out, and once again I was told that they were closing, which was untrue at 8:30 pm. Liz then told me that it was for customers only, and I explained that we just purchased food and a beverage. She reiterated that they were closing, and after begging for a minute she Raised her voice at me and said " FINE, USE THE RESTROOM" which only added insult to injury I used the bathroom and returned outside. as we drove by their Colorado entrance we noticed that there were new guests placing orders ( This was approximately 9 PM), so we called back and politely asked what time they were open for pick up orders, Liz picked up the phone and said 9:30, to which I was shocked. I cannot understand why I was singled out.. We tipped, and were courteous and polite. We visit barneys around 2-3 times a month at least, and the service is usually exceptional ( In fact our last experience was fantastic, and server Angie was absolutely spectacular in her service as usual, even as a cashier) The Major issue I have here is the fact that it was extremely uncomfortable to have to wait to use the bathroom for me, especially as a guest when my girlfriend had no issue using it. We tipped, and were polite. I could almost understand if they were actually closing, but this was not the case, they were open for another hour and a half. It was extremely humiliating to have to beg to use the restroom, especially when others are using it, and the bar is open, and we are guests eating outside. I have never experienced anything like that, and it was totally uncalled for. There is no reason to lie to a guest and tell them that they are closing, we caught Liz in a lie when we called back. It is extremely humiliating that I should have to beg to use the restroom. I will be calling the restaurant tomorrow and telling the general manager about our experience. I did not deserve to be singled out and treated unfairly when other guests were not. I had not even been drinking. read more

Went in on a semi-crowded night. There were a lot of people at the bar, but there was still a lot of tables available to sit in. So my friends & I sat on an open table and a server seen us sit there as he just had removed the dirty plates. I had been told by one of the other waiters before we sat that as soon as we sat a waiter would be with us. So we gave it like 10 mins before asking another waiter that was checking someone out in the computer in front of us if we needed to go to the bar or if we had a waiter & she said to give the waiters a minute because it was a little busy. We waited another 15 mins more before we left :) in total we waited like 25/30 mins while multiple waiters passed by and saw us with nothing on our tables : no drinks, menu, food, etc & nobody asked anything. COVID affected a lot of people and businesses and after visiting Barney's obviously the quality as well. It's just not what it use to be.

Haven't been back here for over a decade. Cousin was having her bday here so made the trek out here. I was looking for parking structure but BF found a small parking lot on Arroyo between Colorado and Union that is cheaper than the parking lot ($12 for 4 hours?), and take the alley right to Barneys. (It's a nice alley not a sketchy one.) Our party had reserved the mezzanine area and the host/security had walked us up to the mezzanine. The Barney's I remember from my 20's was bad service and bad food, but now it is the exact opposite. Jen, our server was always checking up on us, making sure we get another round of drinks before we go empty. We never had an issue of "where's our server?" since the mezzanine was a separate area. She's truly amazing and on top of it! We had the chili cheese fries and wings here, both were really good the wings were well seasoned. A round of billards is $2, I think that is very reasonable. All staff we came across was friendly and nice, especially the security guy also, he never gave us difficulty when our party kept going out for a smoke break. I randomly found this place cruising around Pasadena anxious to eat and all the other places being a long wait for lunch on a Saturday wouldn't work. Even though the food took a bit the server Devin was super attentive brought my beer, water, dogs water immediately and was really nice. The sliders were really good (although wasn't into the sweet onions) it was a good experience after the last 10 or so places I've gone to that have been so crappy I haven't even wanted to review to possibly derail I'm sure they're already slow business by writing a bad review. I was talking to Emily as she was approached by the manager Chris who grabbed a clipboard that was on the host stand , took a look at it and then threw it at the host stand so aggressively.
