The person who helped me was pretty no nonsense and efficient, I guess this is what it feels like if you are actually in Brooklyn? lol There are a variety of lunch specials daily from 11 am - 4 pm, and happy hour with $3 draft beers from 3 pm - 7 pm. PIzza options look really good, whole round pies are 18", 8 slices, and are all about $30. Square pizzas are also about $30 for 8 slices. I ordered the Cajun Bridge sandwich (cold) because I like all things spicy, and I love squaw bread, so this one was calling my name. So glad I did because it was so good and hit the spot! There are two entrances into the restaurant. The counter to order, as well as restrooms, requires you to go down a level, but the left entrance has a lift if you need in order to go down.

Based on this visit, I'd recommend sticking with the breakfast items, pastries, and of course, the coffee. Copa Vida still makes a great cup of coffee!

We also had fresh uni and eel, and everything was presented with a lot of attention to detail. The ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were well balanced, and the entire meal felt thoughtfully prepared rather than simply being about presentation. Overall (5/5): Disclaimer - we came here late April. But this is a gem in Pasadena that we wished we visited sooner! The lunch deals have very generous portions for the price and we were super stuffed after. I recently visited Barney's Beanery and was thoroughly disappointed with the manager, AJ. We arrived early, to get a table for 6. However, the manager was incredibly rude and threw a "reserved" sign at the table we were sitting at, claiming all the tables were reserved. To our surprise, we watched as he seated other guests at these so-called "reserved" tables but when we asked the guests, they said they just walked in off the street with NO reservations. It felt like AJ was on a power trip, making the experience unnecessarily frustrating. Thankfully, our server, Marissa, was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing visit. She was sweet, accommodating, and went out of her way to ensure we had a pleasant experience. Her excellent service was the only saving grace of the evening. While Marissa deserves all the praise, the management at Barney's Beanery needs a serious attitude adjustment. I hope they can learn from their staff on how to treat customers with respect and courtesy. read more

Barney's Beanery in Pasadena has such a great vibe, whether you're looking for a fun night out getting drinks and playing pool or catching a sports event during the day. The atmosphere is always lively and enjoyable. However, during my recent visit, I had a disappointing experience with our waiter, Ilyana G 1116. The service was not up to par, as our drinks were not refilled and we had to ask another waiter for assistance. Even getting napkins required us to chase down another waiter. It was frustrating, especially since Ilyana was serving the tables around us and didn't acknowledge our needs. On a positive note, the wings at Barney's Beanery are absolutely delicious alongside the fries, and I've never had any issues with service until now. It's a shame that this experience was marred by poor service. Ilyana left us hungry and thirsty for more mixed drinks lol. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED! I went for the first time with my friend after work. Food was good, but our server was MIA. Then when I decided to use their STRANGE bathroom, a blonde female ran my card. The very next morning I checked my bank account and saw SOMEONE charged my card $163 at "Office Depot" online. I DID NOT USE MY CARD OTHER THAN THAT FOR DAYS. Thankfully I called my bank and got my money back-but this place is SUPER SHADY! These people are THIEVES. Don't go here. Unless you have a good relationship with your bank. Such a shitty experience. I hope that girl gets fired. SHE IS A THIEF! NEVER EVER GOING BACK UNLESS I CAN YELL AT THEM! read more

It is my favorite eatery and bar in Pasadena! I have frequented this place in 2015 and 2016, when I was partying a lot. The drinks were quite fairly priced. There was ample of space to sit down in the area, or stand up, and socialize with acquaintances. The meals, that I would order, were quite delicious. At the same time, they were fairly priced. Although, it was going on the expensive side. Nevertheless, every penny spent, was quite worthy. Definitely, when this pandemic will be over, I am planning to visit this establishment again! Amazing sports bar with a great atmosphere! There are plenty of screens everywhere, making it easy to watch soccer matches from any seat. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can choose the vibe you like. I also loved the billiard tables and arcade game machines, which make it a fun place even before or after the match. The design is modern, unique, and full of energy. Yesterday I was across the street and I saw 5 men beating up a kid. Slamming him against the glass right at the entrance of this place. Apparently what management said is he deserved it. That's why nobody stopped them. They allowed the same ppl right back in. Nobody deserves to get beat or hurt to death like that. Even if Pasadena police says this happens all the time. I love Barney's IPA. Their chicken wings are delicious too. But for me, they have to serve the hot wing sauce on the side, because it is way too hot for me. But they always accomodate my request. I remember going to this place a lot in the 1990's. It was such a happening place back then. The scene has kind of dwindled down through the years but the good thing is that from Monday-Thursday they offer FREE pool from 6pm-9pm and that saves a lot considering the price for pool there is about 16 dollars an hour. Overall, our recent experiences have been solid. It's always great when an "old favorite" still feels like a good value. I miss some of the menu items like the lentil shepherd's pie, but we have very much enjoyed the hearty English breakfast. They also have a good selection of European beers on tap. Service has been friendly, but it is lightly staffed and pretty slow, so it's not a good place if you are in a hurry. They don't keep an eye on the patio, so if you sit out there, it's best to go inside and let them know. They also seem to have more rules than before - but I have to imagine these have come from experience. I don't think this is an ideal place to go with a large group. If it's a quiet night you might be able to pull tables together long-ways, but most tables seem ideal for 2-4. We come with our dog and sit on the patio when it isn't busy. The dog meals are massive (more food than ours eats in a whole day and she weighs 60 lbs). It's a good value, but beware if your dog is on a diet! Overall, my favorite thing is that genuinely feels like a pub, in that you can just come as you are and take your time without being rushed. A good fit for both locals and visitors in Pasadena.

My best experiences have been when I sit at the bar (alone or with friends), drinks only. Even at that, the service has rarely been stellar. Sierra Madre is the exception as far as the service is concerned. Never have had bad service there. The other 2 locations.....meh! The Old Town location is the worst as far as comfort is concerned. Super cramped and claustrophobic. No elbow room whatsoever. The other two locations aren't as tight but still need better spacing. The food here is mediocre at very best. The traditional Fish and Chips equal 3 words.....soggy, Soggy and.....SOGGY!! Crisp isn't even in their vocabulary. Both, Fish and Chips are very under-seasoned and just very disappointing and unappealing. The "Bangers and Mash" are equally disappointing. Are you serious.....deep frying the Brats to "finish them off "? The flavorless Mashed and Gravy really seal this dish as a sucker's bet. And don't get me started on the nasty frozen peas that they serve. The British Curry is the best of the traditional fare and it is barely average. Desperately in need of flavor. I go to the East Pasadena location on New Year's Eve to meet a very large group of motorcyclists for a ride, but after 3 years in a row of very disappointing breakfasts now all I do is meet them there and ride. I mean, have you ever had greasy pancakes?! And the kitchen couldn't cook an egg to order if their lives depended on it! I have to say that they do have a couple tasty Burgers though. Not what most go to an "English Pub" for but pretty much the best stuff on the menu is in burger form. The "English" is a pretty solid burger, well rounded flavors and a big seasoned and juicy patty. The "Irish" is good too. I just don't understand the Swiss Cheese, why not an Irish Cheddar?! The rest their Burgers/Sandwiches seem very uninspired, something you can get in just about every restaurant in America! Do yourself a favor and get the Steak Fries (well done) with your Burger, not the soggy homemade Fries. I went this Sunday 07/05 with some out of town guests to hit up a futbol match. They wanted to watch in a "real pub atmosphere", and had heard of Lucky Baldwins on Big Bang Theory. There was 7 of us and we arrived early enough to get a good table for the match. The place was virtually empty when we got there but filled up quickly. We all ordered our beers, then my buddies unloaded on some appetizers....5 Scotch Eggs, 2 Irish Nachos (with Steak Fries, no Tomato) and 2 Buffalo Cauliflower (1 with no sauce). Everyone Loved the Scotch Eggs, they were grub. The Grain Mustard is such a compliment. The Cauliflower was very good, with a crispy breading and very well seasoned. The Buffalo Sauce added a great kick but the Bleu Cheese Dressing was not up to par.....watery and where was the Bleu Cheese?! Our Irish Nachos were decent but came with Tomatoes (which I cannot eat). I do have to say that they do have a great variety of ale and beers. They are a little pricey though. Go for the beer, stay for the beer, be mindful of what you order!

Perfect dive bar for just relaxing and getting away from the other chaotic Pasadena spots. They have a lower and upper level. I ordered their stout and was not disappointed. It was a great place for some casual, mildly literary drinking on a Thursday night. The bar was in an alley, and I was happy to find free, easy street parking right outside the alley entrance. The alley was well lit enough that it didn't feel sketchy, though if I were inclined to beat someone up, this would probably be a convenient place to do it. The space was slightly below ground, down a flight of stairs from the alley. It felt like an Irish pub/sports bar with a tap list of California beers in addition to Coors Light and Guinness. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. I had a Made West Hazy IPA and a Pizza Port Amber, both of which I've had and enjoyed several times in several places over the years. I also ate some fries that were lying around, probably but not certainly by someone I at least sort of know. They weren't bad. I live kind of far from Pasadena and T. Boyle's isn't a destination bar, but I'd come back for another round or two after Vroman's. It's a comfortable spot with good draft beer, where you can relax and have some conversations.

So the AC in this place apparently was on and yet it seemed like it wasn't, I say this because I started to feel sweat on my back and I asked the server and he said yes, the ac was on and did not work well.

In all our dining experiences, we've never been charged for hot water before, so this was confusing. Additionally, an automatic 18% gratuity was added to the bill without any prior notice. While we understand that some restaurants add gratuity on holidays, clearer communication would have made a big difference. We went in feeling happy and excited, but left feeling a bit disappointed. Transparency about charges would really improve the overall experience.
