Barneys Beanery got its start in 1920 as a little chili stand. Now there are five locations in SoCal. My favorite is the OG in WeHo. I had many crazy nights there during my rock n' roll days. Located in Old Town Pasadena, this spot is convenient for when I want to go out and watch Football. I like that each booth has a t.v. so you can watch your favorite team. I recommend getting there early to secure a table or make a reservation. The menu is extensive. Breakfast is served all day in addition to burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, pizza, soups, salads, loaded fries, and their signature chili. Drinks are stiff and beers are ice cold. I used to come here for a night cap when it first opened. The décor is kitsch with license plates on the ceiling and sports rock 'n' roll memorabilia on the walls. Q's Billard is upstairs and opens at 6 pm. I think this location used to be Q's back in the day. Tiki B's is downstairs and is open on Friday & Saturday nights at 8 pm with Karaoke at 9:30 pm My friend & I stopped in for a quick drink. I had a vodka soda & he had a beer. My friends like to come whenever we're in the area and I can definitely see the appeal. It's a nice bar that is spacious enough to watch games, chill on the balcony area or play pool. I tried the Strawberry Hibiscus and Pineapple Tequila. The drinks are nice and strong (of all the times I've been) and definitely worth it in my opinion. This place is perfect for a night out with friends to drink and catch up or watch a game! There was a football game going on when we were there and it was exciting when the crowd would erupt with cheers. Parking is convenient since there are surrounding parking garages and street parking. There is a food menu and although I did not order anything, a member of my party did and they really enjoyed their dish. This is my favorite Barney's. There is one closer to me on Burbank, but I prefer this one. We came on a Saturday afternoon. Place was pretty empty at the time. We found a table pretty quickly. Table was conveniently located in front of a big screen TV and the broncos were playing. My friend and I both ordered burgers and had a few rounds of n/a micheladas. Barney's Beanery was a good place to get some drinks before a game at the Rose bowl. It seems like a popular sports bar that is heavily decorated, especially for the holidays and has TVs scattered about. Particularly nice that each booth had their own tv. It is a typical sports bar, a loud fun environment with pub-type food and drinks. What I didn't know was that they're famous for their chili, hence the name I guess. I didn't end up getting that but instead a bacon burger which was pretty tasty but felt it was a little pricey. I also got an espresso martini which was probably not a good choice and should've stuck to a beer or something. Listen, Barney's had seen better days pre pandemic and maybe a decade before that tbh. It's a pretty standard bar With multiple floors. When you walk in, the smell of cheap drinks will remind you that you are here to drink lol it's dingy but nostalgic. The service is hit and miss, depending on the business. I haven't had the food in a long time but it used to be decent. Now, I'd probably order some fries at most. The second floor is slightly more elevated with pool tables, another bar counter and dim lighting. On fight nights, this place can still be a vibe. The food was abysmal and brought out haphazardly, a bowl of soup took almost 10 minutes after the rest of our party had had our food already. Yeah, four members of our party had their cooked meals, then it was 10 minutes before our remaining diner received their soup for the love of God! And the soup sucked at that, it was so salty I think it was made with ocean water. The cocktails were good, the pastrami fries were good, the fried pickles were okay, but the 'spicy' spaghetti, the Juicy Lucie, the tater tots (how do you fuck up tater tots???), and French Onion Soup sucked. The management has since changed, and is kind, wonderful and nice. A total 180 from the 2024-25 football watching season. I spent most of this season on a stool at Barneys. This is the go-to spot for Weekend sports and beer. The onion rings and Philly Cheese steaks aren't too shabby either. First time at Barney's and came for the LA dodgers game (the last 2 they had) and WOW LOVEEEED BARNEYSSS- the vibe was definitely fun! Also.. can't help but love it as dodgers won the world seriesss here (for me hahaha) Food: -carne asada fries: steak fries! I'm not the biggest steak fries fan and so should have read that right. The salsa was also very big tomatoes so wasn't my fave fave. But the second night, got the nachos and that was a popular popular one! Hubby and I stopped in BB for Sunday afternoon lunch date. We enjoyed their vast beer collection with a good amount of CA beers on it. Our first table was syrup sticky and we were moved to another table quickly w no issue. Hubby and I shared the mozzarella sticks which came w warm marinara and they were delightful. I would get these again. After the mozz stix things got weird but Ilyana, our server, made an amazing recovery. Hubby ordered a turkey Ruben but was sent out a turkey club which had Avo on it which he can't eat. My Cobb came out perfect aside from missing the bacon. To start, the drinks were underwhelming. We're in California--bad margaritas are hard to excuse. But that wasn't the main issue. We came for karaoke. My cousin and I signed up to sing a Phil Collins song. We are Indonesian, and we were with about 10 cousins visiting from out of town for my father's funeral. This night was meant to be something light and meaningful for our family during a difficult time. Notably, we were the only Asian group in the underground tiki venue that night. Despite signing up early and waiting patiently for hours, our name was never called. When I checked with the DJ, he claimed he had already called "Phil" and that no one came up. That simply didn't happen. Our entire group- many of whom were completely sober- was seated nearby and listening carefully the entire time, specifically waiting to hear our 'Phil''s turn. Instead of acknowledging the possibility of a mistake, the DJ dismissed us and insisted it was our fault. The interaction felt like gaslighting and left us feeling singled out and disrespected. Given that we were the only Asian group present, the situation was especially uncomfortable and hard to ignore. Mistakes happen, but how staff respond matters. The lack of accountability and empathy completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a healing, family-centered night. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because no one should leave feeling excluded or brushed aside--especially during an already difficult time read more

I was headed to another restaurant on the block that was closed that day. There were only 2 tables in that day. It took the server 10 minutes to greet & seat me. Took her forever to take my order. Then she told me I either needed to run a tab or go ahead & pay for my meal. I was the 3rd table in. It was not busy at all. I asked her why - she stated that's the way it's done. The other 2 tables were not told to do this. So there was something suspicious about this. I begrudgingly told her I would run the tab. But this made me uncomfortable because I was the only one she said that to. I won't be coming back here nor will I encourage my colleagues to come back as we all work in the neighborhood. I do realize that people walk out on tabs. But it should not be assumed that everyone will do that. However that is still not a reason for discriminatory treatment. Definitely won't come back. My first time here at Barneys Beanery. I was with a group of co-workers for a social hour. I didn't know what to expect prior to my arrival. It's a restaurant with a full bar. They have a good menu of food items plus happy hour appetizers. Pastrami sliders, mini hamburgers, teriyaki and buffalo chicken wings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, and jalapeños poppers were ordered. I only ate the teriyaki chicken wings and potato skins... they were both delicious! Everyone got their own drinks. I tried their mojito virgin which is a minty drink... I like mint, but it didn't WOW me as I thought it would... it wasn't the same mojito drink that I had at another restaurant... don't assume the same name will have the same taste. Towards the end of the evening, I went bold and got myself a bad apple cider (two co-workers got it so I thought I would give it a try)... it was so amazingly refreshing for an alcohol drink! I normally don't drink alcohol, but this was very good... I would name it bad a** cider... yes, fill in the asterisks LOL. Staff was super friendly and nice. Ambiance is very interesting. It has a dark intriguing flare and theme to it... I can't really explain it. Drink prices were decent. Great place for after work social hour events and/or meetup with friends and family. I would for sure come back here just for the appetizers and my bad a** cider LOL. Btw, they do have limited free parking, but it's a small lot. I had a really disappointing experience during my recent visit. The hostess was rude from the moment we walked in. When I asked her for a straw, she threw it onto the table, and when I requested clean water cups (because the ones on the table were upside down and the table itself was sticky), she rolled her eyes instead of helping.
