Such a fine dinning establishment. Right on the water you have your option of sitting inside or outside. You cant go wrong with either choice. The fishermans platter is pretty good, the scallops are perfect. The shrimp is more like popcorn shrimp that is a lil weird. The stuffed lobster is only stuffed with the lobster meat and seafood stuffing which is not something I am really used to. I like it when its full of seafood. They have valet that work for tips, even tho you still walk to your car and pull it out yourself. Its good just to have the available parking. I always visit here on my trips to Ogunquit. Barnacle Billy's is a classic! Lobstah and rum punches yes please. I came on the last weekend of the season in October. We were able to grab a large table on their rooftop, and it was beautiful, a fantastic view of the water. Get the lobster, it's worth it. Also very good is the garlic bread and the mussels. This was a Must Do whenever we visited Perkins Cove. A day trip included a walk on the Marginal Way followed by some shopping and Barnacle Billy's for: fish chowder, a lobster roll and homemade lemonade. I know the pandemic took its toll on many restaurants, but this is the worst decline I've experienced. This evening, the fish chowder tasted like canned tuna in a bowl of warm milk. Absolute no flavor. The lobster roll consisted of tiny bits of lobster filling only 3/4 of a hot dog bun. It came with a side of frozen French fries. The stuffed lobster was dry, rubbery, and contained bits of shell. We paid $500 for a party of six. Not outrageous IF the food had been good. We would have settled for good. We've had the pleasure of meeting Billy. He was a good man. This should not be his legacy. read more

Although the indoor space is quite dated the outdoor patio overlooking a little harbor was precious! The food was delicious and I definitely enjoyed the Maine lobster! First, the lobster roll was overpriced being so small. Staff were kids not very friendly and not doing much. Secondly, my son opened his cheeseburger to put ketchup and found an hair. The car guys were cool Chads but how are you gonna charge $30 for parking and blatantly let some random boomers park for free in front of guests haha. Just awkward and weird peasant owner vibes Selection: The menu has a pretty standard selection of items. They take time to add some dishes that aren't your average sea food but nothing to fall out of your seat over while reading. Additionally there is some turf to the surf. Diversity is there but fundamentally needs revamping to this century. I'm not trying to go out and eat something overly simple that I could make at home or get somewhere that's probably better for significantly cheaper. Cleanliness: The restaurant was pretty clean but very dated. People probably make most of their money on parking and never considered any renovation. Thought it was also strange we were given plastic cups but I suppose I'd rather that if the dish washing team hasn't learned how to clean cups yet. #classy read more

We had a fantastic meal and service here at Barnacle Billy's tonight! If only I could click ten stars. I came in ahead of my family to scope out the best available seating situation, so our special needs son would not disturb other patrons. I was cheerfully escorted to several different areas, and the perfect spot was found. Our server Alison quickly arrived and mentioned she also had a daughter w/special needs and had requested to be our server. We shared beautiful conversations over our mutual connection throughout the meal, and she was very attentive to our family's unique needs. Both she and her sister Andrea went the extra mile to insure we had everything we needed. The broiled haddock and other entrees were excellent and hot, the rum punch refreshing, and the flaky warm blueberry pie the best in all of Maine. It was a wonderful, belated Mother's Day celebration for me and my family. Dropped in because nothing was open between 3pm and 5pm on a late October day. It was quiet but the view was amazing (there were a few flies added to the flavor of the view but no harm). Ordered the seafood chowder and the Maine Mussels. My friend ordered the crab cakes which indicated they were made on the spot. It was not advertise wrong. They were crunchy, full of crab meat yumminess, and light enough not to be overwhelming but definitely a fulfilling as a complete meal. (I had a bite) The chowder was creamy and comforting. The mussels were knocked out of the park yummy. Maine's seafood is so different from the Pacific coast. I'm hooked. Service was prompt and friendly. This is a review of the bar at Barnacle Billy's Etc., which is next to the original Barnacle Billy's. Do not order a cocktail at this bar because they water down their drinks. We stopped by the other evening for drinks and to enjoy their lovely view of Perkins Cove. My friends had wine, which tasted fine. I ordered a Hendricks martini up with a twist. The bartender couldn't figure out how to make lemon twists, so she just stuck a whole slice of lemon in it. I cannot overstate how incredibly watered-down that martini was. My friends tasted it, and they agreed that it was ridiculously watered down. I considered saying something to the bartender, but I figured that it probably wouldn't do any good. But it makes you wonder: If they water down their booze, what other hidden cost-cutting tricks do they pull in their kitchen? It really was the worst martini I've ever had. read more

The clam chowder should be called clam remnant chowder. Virtually no potatoes, no taste, and few clams (pieces of clam scrap). It's sad that they try to pass this watery dribble off as chowder. The lobster roll was unremarkable for $21.00. I expected something much better. My daughter's burger was charred to the point where it could have been used as a hockey puck in a pinch. We have been coming here since 1981. Quality of this meal was overly expensive and sub par. I splurged and ordered the overpriced lobster roll $23!. Such a small portion loaded with paprika, so bland and chewy I could not eat it. I went back for the $7 cheeseburger which was very small but delicious. The clam chowder was ok but not thick at all and again covered in paprika and bland. Hubby got the $18 crab roll. Again bland and covered in paprika. All these served with a measly handful of potato chips. Honestly the highlight of this very expensive lunch were the pickles. We won't be back .....unless we want a cheeseburger. read more

One of my favorite places ever, anywhere! It is open seating, with waitstaff serving you drinks. You are responsible for ordering your food at the window and picking it up when your number is called. The concept is great and efficient, and allows you to go at your own pace. Their steamed mussels are delicious, which is a heck of a compliment coming from a guy who doesn't really go for these. The thing that gets me coming back every time is the rum punch. Hands down, the best drink in America. It is a little sweet, very boozy, and topped with nutmeg. That alone is worth the 5 stars. But I must say that we were surprised and disappointed that the lobster rolls were very pricey at 22 and they were small.
