My date and I came here for dinner ahead of a Candlelight concert and enjoyed their Miami Spice menu. We both agreed it was an interesting combination of flavors (kind of like a Hispanic and Mediterranean came together to cook dinner). The prices here are pretty outrageous (not sure why - it's Little Havana and this isn't exactly a Michelin star restaurant) so definitely glad Miami Spice was still going on when we went. My favorite was the steak and coconut rice; my date particularly enjoyed the branzino.

My friend and I had reservations at this restaurant at 5 PM. We arrived early and it was raining. So we were waiting by the front door. After a bit, this lady comes out and offers for us to wait for the rain to pass inside and sit at the restaurant. I had informed her that we actually had reservations for 5 PM. She did not know and immediately welcomed us to sit anywhere. She clarified that she's one of the owners but she was covering that day. I thanked her for letting us in early before the restaurant officially opened, especially without her knowing of our reservation. She gave us the menus and turned on the music once we chose a table. My friend and I ordered a cocktail with the bartender, who approached our table and provided some suggestions. A few minutes later we placed our order from the Miami Spice Menu. We tried the meatball tostones, house lamb empanadas, branzino filet with coconut rice and fries, pavlova and eclipse- the night fall. Everything was so tasty and delicious. My least favorite dish was the lamb empanadas. They were not bad but I'm just not a big lamb eater. However, the sauces it came with were delicious. The meatball tostones were also very good The green sauce elevated the dish. The branzino was tasty but my favorite part of the main course was the coconut rice. It took rice to a whole level with the crispy coconut on top. I wish I had that recipe. As to the desserts, I loved both of them. I'm not a big chocolate eater either but the eclipse was delicious. I would, however, order the pavlova next time I come. It was sweet and light. As to the drinks, I tried the Ooopa, which was very delicious. If you like margarita, I would recommend this drink. The bartender also surprised us with a welcome complimentary drink, which was also delicious! The bartender also made sure we liked everything we ordered. Before we left, he also gave us a chip for us to have a complimentary drink on our next visit. The owner also came by and ensured we liked everything, which we did. The decoration of the restaurant reminded me of being in Greece. It was decorated with the evil eyes on the tables, which I thought was very unique. On one side of the restaurant, there's a very nice photo opportunity area where there's a swing with flowers around it. The bathroom was also very nice decorated, clean smelled good. I would definitely return to this establishment as I felt like I was at another country with the decoration, delicious food and superb customer service.

I found Bargean on OpenTable while looking for a new place to try, and it caught my attention because in most of their photos the tables were empty -- I figured it might be a new spot, so we decided to check it out. The place has a nice design and is located on Calle 8. When we arrived, it was very quiet, almost empty, which surprised us. We later found out they've only been open for six months. The service was great -- our server Natalie was very attentive, and even the chef came out to greet us, which we appreciated. The food was good, reasonably priced, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. I'm not sure if they need more time or better promotion, but I think this place has potential. It would be good for private events or family gatherings. We'd definitely go back and recommend giving it a try.

I got a cocktail to try, it was pretty good but cocktails and punk don't match, so I switched to cheap bear when I was done. It's a cool venue, close to me, and the staff was very friendly. I used to go to the club in my college years. After the hotel was sold, the club moved to the Rocky Horror venue in Coconut Grove. In 1999 after that closed too, the club became a roaming pop up at different South Florida venues. Which is how I came to be at Bar Nancy in Little Havana on a Saturday night. They host a monthly Kitchen Club night. Almost everything was closed in Little Havana by the time I arrived so it was surprisingly easy to find metered street parking only two blocks away. Bar Nancy did not have a cover charge which was nice. The bar is decorated like a pirate ship with many nautical touches. It is named for the brigantine Nancy, which transported war supplies during the American Revolution. The room the bar is located in was small, dark, hot, and crowded. Many people enjoyed themselves on the dance floor in front of the DJ. They also have a backyard area that was popular. My favorite room was the one between the two. It was decorated like the Captains quarters with a couch and comfortable chairs. I could still enjoy the music and more importantly, the air conditioning. During the night I had a delicious Amaretto Sour. Despite the dive bar surroundings, it was a hefty $15. While that is expensive for a cocktail, it was a small price to pay to relive my youth for one evening.

We ordered a ton, and right off the bat: if you love croquetas and empanadas, order extra. They're on the smaller side and come individually, but they are so good they disappear fast. The beef empanadas were a 10/10 perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chicken empanadas didn't hit the same for me, but the jamón croquetas? Absolutely insane. A must. For appetizers, the prawns al ajillo were delicious super flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was good, but not my favorite. It leaned a bit bland for my taste, even with the sauce. Now, the must-get: the carnitas with pickled onions. Easily one of the best dishes of the night so flavorful, tender, and perfectly balanced. For entrées, we had the ribeye steak and arroz con pollo, plus sides of tostones and yuca. Everything here delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right not overly salty. The arroz con pollo was phenomenal, the kind of dish you could eat every single day. The tostones were crispy and tossed in garlic, which took the flavor to another level, and the yuca was melt-in-your-mouth good. I also ordered a mojito, which unfortunately was very watered down, I barely got any of that classic mojito flavor. Service overall was solid, especially considering how loud the restaurant gets it was honestly hard to hear each other at the table, so shoutout to our server for keeping everything straight. The appetizers came out quickly, back-to-back, which we loved. The only downside was the wait for the entrées they took quite a while after we finished the apps, even though we ordered everything at once. Overall, amazing food, great energy, and definitely worth going just be prepared for a lively (and loud) atmosphere.

The music was great and people were enjoying their time. We had 1 cocktail each and went on our way because we just came to check out the spot honestly. I had the fabulous martini which has a purple hue to it, it was very refreshing. I love that they garnish it with a lavender. The espresso martini was made with Don Julio Reposado, and had real fresh espresso as per the menu. It was good but a bit strong too! We had asked for an extra shot of espresso on the side just as a pick me up. But our server told us that it comes cold, which is odd because the menu literally says freshly brewed espresso in the cocktail description. It was fine though, we still enjoyed the drinks. Overall, our experience was nice! If you are ever in the Hialeah area, you should totally check this spot out. They also have bites you can order but we were full from dinner and didn't get a chance to try anything. Definitely have to come back to try some more cocktails and grab some bites!
