THE CLASSIC FRENCH TOAST
Sudi C.

Cute cafe. Had a little bit of a wait on an early Saturday afternoon but nothing crazy. Our server was amazing. Food and ambiance was lovely. French toast was my favorite. Definitely will be back.

Turkey Benedict.

French toast cappuccino was on point. Definitely would get again. Shashuka was good, not great. Would order again because it seemed healthy. Tomato paste and poached eggs. Turkey Benedict was what you would expect from any diner. Dulche de leche French toast was sweet, no syrup needed, and would have been great with coffee or ala mode. Glad I came and tried it. Would I come back? Possibly but most likely not probable.

SMOKED SALMON OMELETTE.

Not sure if the hype is real at Cafe Bastille. Didn't have the amazing experience as expected on our visit. Love the decor and true French vibe and there is a bakery side and the brunch/restaurant side. Staff was super friendly and nice but service was lacking as it did take some time for our food to arrive. There seems to be a lack of timing and communication between the restaurant side and bakery side as the croissant we ordered arrived first and it arrived cold when it was asked to be warmed and toasted. Cafe Latte was not delivered until the smoke salmon omelette arrived later down the road. Utensils were dirty and water cups were dirty as they had to be replace twice. We also found a strand of hair in the house potatoes but granted we sat outside and it may have flew from any direction from anyone. Food was tasteful but the croissant was not memorable as anticipated.

I'm giving Café Bastille three out of three stars. Honestly, I think it is a little overhyped. I went mostly because of all the buzz, and while it was okay, it just didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The food was fine, but nothing really stood out or made me feel like I needed to come back immediately. Sometimes trying a place just because everyone is talking about it is enough, and this was definitely one of those cases. The location does not help the vibe. You are right on a busy street, and let me tell you, they are the only light in the whole area. The energy is high, which could be fun if you are into that, but it made everything feel chaotic. The service went relatively fast, but the whole experience feels more like organized chaos than relaxing dining. If you want a calm, enjoyable meal, this probably isn't the place, but if you are curious and don't mind the hype, it is worth a quick visit.

TURKISH EGGS.

Busy breakfast and brunch spot so arrive early or be ready to wait for a table. The menu is varied, with everything from indulgent, carb-heavy staples to lighter, healthier options. Service was warm and attentive and despite the crowd the food arrived quickly and was delicious overall. The bread served with my Turkish eggs was a slight letdown but the eggs were well prepared and nicely spiced. Indoor seating can get loud and lacks ambiance, but the outdoor terrace looked lovely.

The food was amazing! I've never had a Croque Madame and now my standards have been set. Cheesy, savory, and delicious! Although we went on a Saturday around 11:30am and it was packed, we were still able to get seated in 15 minutes. They put three people in a table for 2. And there was not enough space as the plates are pretty big. The waitress was very friendly and had a smile on every time she came to the table. Overall great experience and will be back! Thank you!

What a treat!! This cafe was within walking distance from our hotel. We were lucky there was no wait and we were seated immediately, and taken care of very well by our server Hannah. We ordered the acai smoothie, pistachio latte, Turkish eggs, and smoked salmon Benedict. Everything was delish!! They have gluten free bread which tastes good! I have a sensitive gut so I did feel bloated even after taking only a few sips of my husbands pistachio latte but u was curious and really wanted to try it. Perhaps just be mindful if you're anything like me! Cute ambience with the seating on the sidewalk . I love that they have lots of drink choices including healthy cold presses.

Our group of 6 arrived at 11:00 on a busy morning for brunch and were seated remarkable quickly. The staff were friendly and attentive. The decor and music were loud and festive. If you're a matcha fan, this is the place for you! We each ordered something different and we're all impressed - I don't think you can order the wrong thing here!

First and foremost, upon walking up the aesthetic is so cute! It has a very chic garden feel. Even the napkins have cute flowers on them. We had a train to catch so got there right when it opened. Mid November the weather was perfect to sit outside. I started with a mimosa and single espresso. They incorporate a lot of Persian style foods so I was excited to try the green shashuka. So good! It probably could have fed two people. It had a ton of flavor and it's served with a Jerusalem bagel. Overall a great spot, I'd definitely go back when I'm in Miami.

Soon after dropping off our rental car we stumbled upon a French restaurant. So glad we did to notch from the service, to the food. The pricing everything was amazing. Highly recommend stopping in If you're in the area.

The sweet potato waffles

Our service was excellent. The food was delicious we returned here after our June visit. . . I got the crepe with egg , peppers and added bacon . My sister got the croc madame and loved it. My daughter enjoyed the sweet potato waffles. She said they were excellent . 2 of us tried the croissants and they were really pleased they were wonderful. And the cute napkins and boxes for take home were so lovely. We would definitely recommend this place

I took my parents here for the first time and they loved the food but most of all they loved the service from Gabby, she was very attentive and friendly. The food was great and the ambiance was nice too.

This is a really good brunch spot. It gets crowded quickly. If you're coming with multiple people it's best to make a reservation. If you're coming as 2, arrive early if you're expecting to be a walk in. With the typical great weather of Miami all year round, they expand their dining area all up and down the sidewalk so that's great. The food is really good. Everything is lovingly made and it shows up in the flavor. I like to get my Miami trips started here as a matter of habit at this point.

The portion sizes are generous as they let you know its family size. They have fresh tomatoes and a lemon with a knife at every table. Cut some tomatoes add some salt pepper a little olive oil w some balsamic and you have yourself a fantastic delight for the table. The escargot was by far sone of the best with the Parmesan they used. Fresh WARM bread is served through out your meal. The main courses were generously sized. The Star of the meal is by far the vanilla cheesecake. It's very light contrary to what you'd expect when you think cheesecake. It's so smooth on the palate w an amazing burst of vanilla. It's a MUST have when you eat here!

While seated at the bar, the bartender…read morebegan sending over drinks and food items without us ordering them, saying things like "we want you to try this" and continuing to bring additional items throughout the evening. There was no clear communication at any point that these items would be charged. Based on how it was presented, it felt like these were gestures from the bar. However, when the bill was presented, those items were included, which created a very uncomfortable and confusing situation. The issue here is not about the amount, but about the lack of transparency. If items are being sent to a table, it should be made explicitly clear whether they are complimentary or will be included on the bill. Without that clarity, it feels misleading. At a restaurant of this caliber, clear communication should be a given, and unfortunately that was not the case here.

This Miami location is a 2-star restaurant which I personally think is overrated compared to the Tokyo location. It's not very hard to get a spot if you reserve ahead of time. It's located in design district of Miami. There's another Michelin 1-star restaurant located on first floor and Joel Robuchon is located on the second floor of the same building. We reserved bar sitting and was seated near the end corner of the bar. They have both set menu ($195 for 4 courses) or a la carte. We ordered a few dishes from the a la carte menu to share. We were firstly served with bread and a complimentary fois gras appetizer. Their bread is the best especially the smaller ones! We got refill for the small savory pastry. The free fois gras appetizer was a bit too greasy for me, nothing special. For sharing plates, we ordered fois gras with fig, veal sweetbread and hamachi. The fois gras dish was well-flavoured. The other dishes were ordinary. I was expecting the food to impress my taste buds more from a Michelin 2-star restaurant. For mains, we ordered the bison fillet Wellington, halibut and sole. Both fish dishes were amazing but I didn't like the flavour of the bison dish. This restaurant is clearly much better with seafood dishes than meat dishes. They provide us some dessert for both dine-in and takeout at the end, and they were all tasty. Overall, the service was attentive and the vibe was quiet here. However, for $200-$300 USD per person, the food is not up to standard comparing to other Michelin 2-star restaurant when I expect to be wowed by the cooking. It's not very good value for money.

THE FOOD: For starters, we had the cheese, bread and honey dish - 4/5 warm, crunchy, gooey goodness. I also had the French onion soup 5/5, probably the best ive ever had! incredible flavor profile perfectly balanced and salted. For entrees, my husband went with a oxtail with mash dish they had on special that day 1000/5, too bad eating with your hands and licking your plate is frowned upon lol - it deserved that! I had the Pan seared branzino 2/5 - now hear me out - it was five out of five in texture, soft and buttery, and presentation BUT it was cook with SO MUCH BUTTER, that the roof of my mouth & tongue were coated in it and I couldnt tastes anything else! It was so much butter that I felt my lips, tongue and throat irritated. Additionally, im not sure why they didn't pair this dish with a mash or a roasted potatoes, instead of only cooked down spinach. THE SERVICE: Reservations are strongly encouraged - so I made mine with Resy. Through Resy, I confirmed my reservation and had it all in text & email. Upon arrival, their system didnt pull it up. However, the manager (?) was kind, gentle and gracious, sat us at a table. Our waiter was fantastic! So charismatic, and was well versed on all the dishes and how they were made. I believe she said she's been with the team a few years now. From what I understand, a sister restaurant was just opened in Miami Beach, so I hope to be able to give that one a try aswell - maybe for my birthday in two weeks?
