DELICIOUS! This is a simple hole in the wall Cuban restaurant in Downtown Miami. There is no inside dining at all, so you order from the window. I ordered a Cuban steak sandwich and it was very delicious. The prices are reasonable, and the food was prepared fast. It does get busy during the lunch hour, and there are a number of people waiting outside for their food. I love the food here and can't wait to come back again. BTW, it does get hot waiting outside but there is some shade from the nearby office buildings. read more

This is a mother and son family business and I ABSOLUTELY love this place. It's small Cafe, located near the courthouse in downtown, Miami. I ordered the pan con bistec (which was well seasoned) with tomato, lettuce and potatoes sticks..ugh so good! It was big enough to shared with my coworker, I was actually full with my half. It's a hop skip and a jump away from my job and that makes this place almost dangerous because I'll keep coming back to sure! I got the "pan" con bistec but on tostones. HO-LY MO-LY. I ate every last crumb, lol. So yummy! I think some picante would've given it the perfect 10 but it was still great. The amount of steak they give you was plentiful, and cooked to order. The put tomato, lettuce and papitas (shoestring potato chips) on it. This place reminded me to spend my money, ONLY where I'm wanted and I was clearly NOT wanted here. I was there 11:30 waiting patiently in line behind another man, giving him his distance. A guy walked up, stood beside me and the older lady took his order before mine. Ok, sir, you saw me standing there so you pretending to be sorry you skipped me in line was a whole entire ruse. But the lady should've served me first, so I was a little taken aback. It was a quick order so I wasn't that perturbed, so when I went to place my order for breakfast, I was disappointed to be told in broken English, "No breakfast". Ok, ma'am, that's fine I'll take...and as I'm about to order my shake another guy and the lady begin to have a conversation in Spanish on what he wanted to order. That was my cue to leave. My daughter and I have been traveling thru' coastal cities of Florida for over a week. We stopped in at Atlantis Cafe based on the 5-Star rating on Yelp. I am so glad we did! My daughter who is a small and picky eater finished all her food and raved about it. This is by far the best meal we've had on our trip. Two bites into my meal, I could tell the food is made fresh with pride. We had the Home Potatoes Special with an espresso and the Sweet Plantain Omelette. All that for $13.05 with tax included. That is a steal considering an hour parking in the lot across the street cost us $18! I am a restaurant owner in Wisconsin and I know food and labor costs well. I would have gladly paid another $3 for our meals. The owner, Alex, and his staff were very friendly. And that made our dining experience all the more wonderful. read more

The meat to bread ratio was perfect and then potato chips on the side kicked it up a notch. I don't know what it is but the combo was just perfect. Neat little place near the courthouse that would be near impossible for tourists to find without Yelp. Super nice bi-lingual staff and an easy to access menu, with or without pictures. They love bacon here, so it makes many appearances. My wife went with a standard of over easy eggs, bacon, and wheat toast. The wheat toast wasn't the crunchy tear the the inside of your mouth tasteless diner toast in California. The bread was made with love locally. I got a mémorable sandwich of ham croquettes with ham slices and swiss cheese, topped with crunchy potato sticks on cuban bread- killer! We both had coffee con leche- get the dark. I was walking by this place and for fun decided to look it up on Yelp, and to my surprise (it looks pretty run down from the outside) it had a 4.5 star rating! Step inside and you are welcomed by a small and cozy dining room in combination with with an open kitchen layout. The prices at this place were the most reasonable I have had in Miami. For mahi mahi with rice beans, plantains and veggies, AND steak with rice/beans plantains and veggies + beverages was only 25 dollars. For all of that food, it's a fantastic deal. The mahi was seasoned nicely but a slight bit over cooked so it was a little dryer than I usually like. The steak also has good flavor but was very chewy! I'm guessing they are not using USDA prime grade beef here :) but it is still pretty good. The presentation of the food is simple. It's just food on a plate, nothing more nothing less. Our server was friendly and enthusiastic about telling us about the menu. If you happen to find yourself in this part of Miami, check this place out if you have a hankering for a mom and pop Cuban restaurant. read more

Truly wonderful experience during a quick jury duty lunch! I ordered the Big Gus (bacon, chicken, produce, I believe) and the #5 smoothie. From the service, to the cleanliness, to the Spanish drama playing on the TVs, I thoroughly enjoyed my reprieve from the county courthouse. When I sat down, the staff greeted me and had a short conversation with me. Because of the open concept, you can see your sandwich and smoothie being made 100% fresh right in front of you, so I felt compelled to get both. When my Big Gus arrived, it was massive and beautiful, served on a cutting board. Portions are more than worth the inexpensive cost! Though they do not have jalapenos, I didn't need any kick of heat - the sandwich was perfect without anything added. Hot sauce available on the counter if you do change your mind, though. The smoothie was great, and while the fruit was frozen, it didn't affect the tangy sweetness that I appreciate from a passionfruit smoothie. If you like the combination of savory, slightly sweet, and sour, then order the cuban sandwich! You won't regree it! I loved the texture of the bread too, most sandwich breads are too heavy and dense for me, but this is very similar to a banh mi sandwich-- with the outside being toasty and the inside is pillowy soft. The pickles are what gave it just the right amount of sour/brightness. Loved the cheese and the mustard, too. The restaurant is small, but has seating available during brunch hours. And prices were really great for the amount of food you get. I had a hard time finishing the Cuban sandwich (~$6), but it was so good I couldn't stop eating. Wow this place was amazing. Decided to try it while browsing through Yelp while staying down town and will definitely be coming back every time I'm in the area to try other menu items. Upon entering it appeared to be a very small Cuban diner with the menu written up on chalk boards. The employees were very friendly and helped my boyfriend and I order. I got the croqueta preparada with extra mojo pork on top in which I was not charged for. It was amazing! Massive size and a fresh authentic Cuban taste. My boyfriend ordered the big gus and since they ran out of breaded chicken gave him shredded which I thought tasted even better. We came to Atlantis Cafe for a quick grab and go on our way to the art museum. As a huge fan of Cuban food, I was super excited to try their menu. We got the chicken Vaca frita as well as a beef empanada. The staff was super friendly, and the food was fresh off the grill, and took only about 5 minutes to get into our hands. The chicken Vaca frita came with two sides in which I chose black beans and rice (considered one side) and plantains. It was amazing. When I eat at a Cuban restaurant, the food is typically really heavy and salty; however, Atlantis was the perfect blend of flavor and not feeling as though I need to take a nap after. The food was perfectly salted and surprisingly quite light yet filling. The empanada was very crispy, and the beef was INCREDIBLE. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. This is a small cafe in downtown Miami that serves really good breakfast! It's a mostly Hispanic cafe but they also some American type breakfast. I had to park in a garage like 3 blocks down and walk to the cafe. But that's the case everywhere in downtown Miami so I should be used to this lol. The cafe itself is small. It seats about 10 people. We decided to sit down and order in. They have a case of pastries which is great to just pick and go. I decided to get their chorizo breakfast sandwich with a cafe con leche and my friend got their croissant sandwich with a cafe con leche as well. The food was delicious! The Cuban toast on my sandwich had a perfect crunch and the chorizo wasn't too spicy. My friends croissant sandwich was very filling and juicy and the croissant wasn't soggy which was great. The sandwiches and the completas are all super fresh and the delicious and the service is quick and very friendly. Ok, I think I found my favorite spot for lunch during the work weeks!!! I want to try everything written in their board menu! The juice was delicious!!! I had a guanabana in milk juice and honestly, not everyone knows how to make it! We had the tostones steak sandwich and the gentleman making it was very customer service friendly.
