I've been coming here for a long time and not until today did I realize the reputation this little family owned restaurant is, and with good reason. It's usually the holes in the wall or mom-and-pop type places that have the best food and service and this joint is no exception. Master Chef Alex and our friend with mom and an amazing staff in the kitchen are most welcoming people when you come here. Everyone who sets foot in here and it's local knows them and vice versa. Now let's talk food, shall we? I mostly come here for breakfast since they're so close to the office and on my way to most locations. I like the fact that they cook in front of you, open kitchen style and that way you know there's no monkey business going on in the back where most kitchens are. They cook fast and the food is delicious especially now that the menu has more items to choose from even though I like the most traditional breakfast...eggs, protein and toast with coffee and milk. I've also been here for lunch and the lunch specials plus some a la carte items I've ordered and have never been disappointed. Like I said before, the service is excellent, always welcomed with a smile and some jokes and then good food to follow that. So I told Alex I would continue with the trend of 5 star reviews because it's well deserved. As I explore the Downtown Miami area lunch spots I ran across this little place. My initial reviews of the post made me think it didn't have seating and only did sandwiches but to my surprise, they have full meals. My first meal was the Mahi Mahi, white rice and salad. Yum!!!!!! Alex and his mom made sure all of their patron wether regulars or newbies like myself were well cared for. Delicious food, friendly service. Full of tourists on a Friday afternoon, but didn't feel like a tourist-only spot (and didn't have tourist trap prices). My sister got a juice as we left, a perfect cool beverage to sip on as we walked back to our hotel. We both loved our sandwiches and my sister enjoyed her coffee. One negative - we tried to come for breakfast a second time, but it was closed and had a sign up saying "open for lunch," even though based on hours posted online we thought they would be open (around 9:45 AM on a Monday). I can only speak for the Big Gus sandwich, but it was delicious. I also had a beef empanada and it was also good... A little greasy, but it's a beef empanada; that's sorta the name of the game. Came here because of the yelp reviews and i was not disappointed at all. When i walked in the staff were very friendly and kind. My friend and i had already looked online for what we wanted, so we ordered quickly, the Cuban, and the steak club. We decided to have an espresso since it was morning. We split the sandwiches and shared them. The taste was amazing, just great things together. They definitely are authentic here, looks family owned with family recipes, and you can really tell! This seems to be my go to place for Cuban food lately. It is a small place with about five (5) tables and a decent counter. The food is good, fresh, and well prepared. Most importantly Cubans are doing the cooking. The typical dishes are in play but there are a few surprises during the week like fettuccine Alfredo "a lo Cubano". Yes and it runs out it is very good and also runs out 45 minutes after 12, so order early. For those who want to eat healthy they have quite a few selections including the Paleo fad. You can score three full meals for $20 dollars. This establishment is about service and food. Nothing fancy just good Cuban food. They also take the time to remember what you like. read more

Just ordered delivery from this place as I have been there once before the pandemic and the food was amazing. I was looking for delivery and they popped up so I decided to give them a try. I was really impressed with how quickly the food arrived and it was still piping hot! I hate eating cold food that's supposed to be hot. I ordered croquetas, mahi mahi lunch with rice, black beans and Tostones. My husband ordered the media noche with no pickles. Unfortunately they didn't read the notes and sent the sandwich with the pickles in it. Although the flavor of the pork was delicious he was very disappointed to see the pickles in the sandwich. Even when you pick them out you can still taste them he says. Needless to say he didn't finish his sandwich. I offered him some of my lunch but he had lost his appetite as a result of the pickles. The croquetas were delicious and they sent so many that I was able to share with our two other colleagues in the office. We all agreed they were great! The mahi mahi lunch but especially the black beans lacked flavor. I still ate it because I was hungry and it was already here. I don't think I will be ordering from here again. Wow, what a find! Came here for breakfast with the family while on a trip to Miami. We were trying to decide whether to eat free hotel breakfast (blegh) or go out somewhere better. I found Atlantis Cafe on Yelp, and we made the half mile walk over. It's a tiny little place, so the 6 of us had to sit at 2 different tables. Between the 6 of us, we tried the Joe Breakfast Sandwich (Bacon, Sausage, Ham, Egg, and Cheese), the Atlantis Special (2 eggs, choice of meat, toast), the Slim Sandwich, the Steak and Eggs, the Chorizo-Spinach omelet, and the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich. Oh heaven! It's hard to choose which was the best. The normal breakfast choices were excellent, and the unique options were equally amazing. The steak and eggs were especially fantastic (the steak is a thin cut, but extraordinary flavorful, a little like flank steak). You have a choice of bread (Cuban is the correct choice). It doesn't even need jam, just dunk it in your eggs. Even better, every breakfast meal comes with coffee. And not ordinary, watery, bitter Folgers. No, you choose from sweet and smooth Cuban cafecito (espresso, but sweetened for you) or cafe con leche with sweetened milk. You can't choose wrong, so go nuts. Get 2 or 3. A couple of us got smoothies or milkshakes, too. All were delicious. To top it all off, the whole bill for six of us was less than $60. The staff and service are excellent. Great job, Alex and team! Whenever i'm in a new town I always try and visit a local place to eat. Every so often I find a gem. I may be a man of simple tastes, but this was hands down the best meal I had while in Miami!! I ordered the New World Steak and Eggs Special and the Palomilla steak had more flavor than many high end steak houses I have been to. Thin and tender it melted in my mouth. The sausage had just the right amount of char to add some crunch to the deliciousness. The Cuban bread is a must but get it toasted and the fries did not disappoint. As our office recently moved to the downtown Miami area, my colleagues and I are exploring the area for good eats. Atlantis Cafe was recommended to us and we decided to give it a try. Now the restaurant from the outside is not indicative of the quality of food cooked and served inside. I had a tostone sandwich with lechon that was out of this world. The pork was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the tostones were crispy as they should be and it was all brought together with some fresh lettuce and tomatoes. This dish was an item from their paleo menu. Yes you heard it right, Cubans serving paleo inspired dishes. This is an authentic mom and pop style restaurant serving good food at great prices, actually owned by a mother and son (who is the chef and a young talent). I loved my experience at this family owned and operated establishment. Margarita and her son Alejandro offer outstanding service and made me feel instantly at home. My Cuban grandmother and I ordered a palomia steak with rice and black beans and a side of plantains and a steak Cesar salad. Please make sure when they ask if you want the palomia steak with onions you say yes! They are so savory and delicious. The black beans tasted just like the ones my grandparents make at home. Make sure you finish off your meal with their flan for desert. It is the perfect size, not too big and not too small, and tastes very authentic as if it was made in your Cuban grandma's kitchen. It has a wonderful flavor with the right consistency that lets the spoon glide through. For the full experience finish off with a Cuban coffee, get the media colada!
