Went for brunch with my mom and sis from out of town. The food was delish. And I was extremely surprised with how fast it came out! They ordered breakfast dishes, I had the lamb shank tacos - all were amazing! Even the drink orders came out promptly. And I'm a big fan of outdoor patio seating that is warm enough to be available all year round. Our waitress (Heather?) was very pleasant and attentive, without being overbearing. Not good at all. It's a shame that I decided to take my kids there on Father's Day. It was Father's Day and God forbid they go the extra mile for a Dad. Very disappointed with service and food. I will explain my meal...I got the waffles with blackberries and my kids ordered off the lunch menu. My waffles were out in 4 minutes while my kids entrees were out 20 minutes later!!! Oh and there were 2 tiny blackberries on the waffles. Absolutely pathetic. I would have been embarrassed to send that out to a table and especially without the other entrees!!! So my friends took me here for a Sunday brunch when I decided to venture up to visit Baltimore. It was a pretty crowded area, so I should have read these previous reviews and suggest to my friends to make a reservation. The location of the place is right by the water, so the outdoor seating is quite popular. When we arrived around 1115am, they had no more outside seating, and indoor seating would be ~45 minute wait. Sure, no problem. We just went on over the Sagamore Pendry hotel for some drinks by the waterside pool, while scoping out the crowd at Barcocina from across the water. So after being seated, I went with the $13 endless mimosas/bloodies (for which I settled with finishing 3 bloodies and a bit of a 4th helping). The bloody mary's are pretty good, strong, and mildly spicy. For brunch, I went with the chorizo benedict. I was pleasantly surprised with the sweet corn cake as a base for the benedict (as I'm not too big of an english muffin kind of guy). So the light sweet flavors went well with the mildly spicy, and salty chorizo. The potato hash was ok, not bad. And the poached egg with hollandaise sauce was good, nothing too great. Overall impression. great location, great place for brunch (make a reservation recommended for outdoor seating), service was ok, and food was good. I wouldn't be running back to eat at this restaurant. The location is fantastic and on a low humidity day, great place to sit on the patio. Unfortunately, before we even sat down to eat, this place left a sour taste in my mouth. This was about 5pm, and there was an elderly couple in front of us in line. They wanted to sit at a table, but the hostesses were extremely rude. They said they would only seat people if they were eating food/dinner with a maximum seat time of 2 hours. If they are only there for appetizers and drinks, they had to sit at the bar. The elderly couple wasn't sure, and when asked why, the hostess said, "because this is Fell's Point". Talk about a bad impression. She could've delivered the message differently and definitely more kindly. We were seated at a table on the patio and our server was fairly attentive. The food was average, and I wouldn't be rushing back if I was looking for Mexican food. The guac was so smooth it was like it came out of a bag. The trio of salsa was okay - nothing to rave about. The BBQ beef tacos were actually good as there was a texture contrast and the beef was cooked well. The spicy pork tacos lacked the texture piece but was still tasty. Amazing atmosphere on the harbor and they are doing a great job keeping everyone safe during the pandemic

We hosted our rehearsal dinner in the patio of Barcocina and it was a hit! We wanted a more casual dinner that enabled mingling so when we visited the space last summer, we knew it would be the perfect venue. The room itself holds ~100+ and there's seating for about 60. There are two bathrooms available in the room, a private bar, and a patio. It was unfortunately too cold for them to open the windows of the patio but on a warmer night it would have been amazing since the deck overlooks the water. The room is really quite spacious-- we had about 85 people come and we were all very comfortable. We chose 6 menu items (short rib tacos, mushroom tacos, honey chicken tacos, roasted beet salad, crab gnocchi, and barcocina guac) as well as ordered bowls of salsa and chips. All of the food was amazing. For drinks, we offered guests liters of wine, any of the beers on the menu, and all margaritas (leaving off all other forms of hard liquor). The minimum required to reserve the room ($4K) was really fair, given we knew we would have close to 100 people and other rehearsal dinner options were estimated at around $8-10K. We also brought in pies from a favorite bakery of ours, and Barcocina charges a $25 cutting fee-- which I thought was fine given we brought in 10 pies! The event coordinator, Erica, is really great to work with. She is a true gem! She was so helpful with all of our questions and so accommodating with all of our needs (e.g. Refrigerated our pies, provided a mic when needed, allowed us to customize our bar menu any way we wanted, made sure The Masters was playing in the TVs, etc.) The wait and bar staff were all so nice as well. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience at Barcocina and would highly recommend it not just for a fun dinner out, but also for a private event. read more

Probably best described as a love/hate relationship. They're lamb tacos are to die for, if you come on a good day. Some days, flavorful and juicy and others just unpleasant and chewy (probably overcooked?). The service is slow so the bottomless mimosas aren't as free flowing because of such. (Pro tip: sit at the bar and eat/drink). At sit down tables, they refill by the glass so you essentially have to catch your waitress walking by. Nowwww the French toast? Amazing! Super sweet but really good. Can't speak much on wait time as I always get a reservation but it's a pretty popular so be mindful of that. A serious disappointment. I walked in at 1:30pm on a saturday afternoon, I did not have a reservation, but the restaurant capacity was only half full. I heard one of the two hostesses say to the other, "just tell them we have a big party coming in soon". Big parties would not be using a two person table. That is simple facts. Yes, there was a large group that came in, but they were sitting outside. Not inside. Horrible customer service. They simply did not want more work to cover other than this group. What an improvement on this space! (used to be Shuckers) Went on Saturday night and the place was hoppin'. When you come in, you give your cell number to the hostesses (who were great) and they text you when your table is ready. In the meantime, there are two bars to hang out around. I was lucky enough to snag a great table by the water on a gorgeous night. This is a great date-night spot. The specialty cocktails are yummy, but pricey, especially for Baltimore. I loved the taste of the Blackberry Sangria. It tasted like drinking straight blackberry juice, but it didn't have much alcohol in it. The margaritas are a better bang for your buck-- try the hibiscus! The food was special, though portions are small, so an order of tacos is not going to be enough for dinner. Order a few things and share them around, and definitely don't forget to try the fabulous house guacamole. I will leave it to other people to review the array of meat and seafood, but I will give a special shout-out to my vegetarian and vegan peeps: they have two kinds of veg tacos, and they will not disappoint your carnivore friends--the Citrus BBQ Jack Fruit tacos and the Cumin Spiked Mushroom tacos. AND, if you're vegan and don't eat sour cream or queso, ask for the sour-almond-milk-creme...awesome!! They started running out of stuff by time we sat down at around 9 (even chips!), but I'm cutting them slack because it was only their second night open. I waited to write this review in the morning so that I wouldn't be so upset, but I still am. Barcocina refused my friend entrance because of his hat. My friend is Sikh Punjabi and in the religion, must keep his head covered. To fit into social norms, he chose not to wear the turban out last night and instead wore a hat. His "baseball cap" was a polo hat and had no team affiliations what so ever. I explained the situation to the doorman and his manager. I told them that my friend is Sikh and he cannot remove his hat. He must keep his head covered for religious reasons. I explained the religion and customs. The manager said he understood, but could not let us in to the bar, where our other friends were waiting to meet us because of a hat rule after 10 pm... WE WERE TURNED DOWN BECAUSE OUR SIKH FRIEND AND HIS MANDATORY HEAD COVERING WERE NOT ALLOWED. Either they are ignorant or cruel, but either way it is ILLEGAL to turn someone down for religion. Mexican style food, a meal by the water and beautiful fall weather outside, did I land in heaven no just an awesome restaurant called Barcocina! First time visiting this place and will defiantly want to come back to check out the late night scene. Was there for their lunch hour, sad that they didn't have any specials/deals for lunch. They are in the perfect location with business all around, surprised their wasn't more of lunchtime crowd to fill up the restaurant. The service was quick, and the food very good. I ordered the lemon fish taco, which was nicely cooked with not an over powering hint of lemon. The order comes with 3 nicely sized tacos. One of things that I liked about the service was that they left a bottle of water on the table. Nice little touch to add, that helps the server out as well. read more

A disrespectful GM is the reason for this 1 star. He was extremely rude when we reported that one of our dishes had meat in it, (we requested it without).... GM Essentially told us we were wrong, and made a scene of it. The fact was- the kitchen messed up and put meat in the dish, yet the GM insisted we were lying and belittled us. Told us we were wrong and accused us of eating the dish then reporting it. Totally false, as we picked through it to ensure it was meat. It was also very over priced for the quality of food. Another review here to say that brunch is so much better!!! I split the ENchiladas and Benedict and WOW!!! I had heard that it was great, but this might be my favorite new spot for brunch. Beyond the location (which is perfect), the food really holds its own. The menu was really interesting and I had a tough time deciding. Luckily my roommate likes to split, so we split two dishes - the chicken verde enchiladas and chorizo benedict. It was the most perfect mix. The benedict (sweet corn cake + poached egg + potato hash + chile hollandaise) was perfection. The potato hash was really some roasted potatoes - so crunchy and flavorful. I thought I would miss the muffin but the corn cake was more like a polenta cake and I could have just had those dipped in the chile hollandaise. Keep in mind its a pretty large dish, so splitting this and something else.. or just two entrees like we did is a great idea :) The chicken enchiladas (queso fresco + sunny side up egg + lettuce + crema) were also perfection.. a little zippy, a perfectly runny egg, and queso fresco made this so different than other breakfast enchiladas.. that are usually laden with sausage and grease and mediocre dry scrambled eggs. Yep this I could also eat all day. Will definitely be back, as I'd like to explore the rest of the brunch menu (huevos rancheros, Chilaquiles...). The prices were all $10-$14 with big portions. Why all the hating on this new restaurant? I went with a bunch of girlfriends to celebrate someone getting married and a new job. We went on Tuesday night after opening weekend. Our waitress was awesome...she could tell we were celebrating all kinds of good news, listened attentively then high five-ing me afterwards! She was prompt with ordering without ever being too bothersome. She pointed out that menu was a work in progress (yellow highlights denote what's actually available). I drank the Barcocina Lemonade with jalapeno simple syrup...later I had the Hibiscus Margarita. Both were delicious and well worth the money. I really enjoy that their drink menu has a SWEET, SMOKEY and SPICY cocktail options. Smart way to break it down! For starters, we enjoyed the Lobster Guacamole, The Barcocina Dip, and Cocoa Bacon Salsa. Everything was great! I would probably pass on the Lobster Guacamole and trying something cheaper. I would have appreciated the guac being more plentiful. Not enough to share! The Cocoa Bacon Salsa was SO AMAZING that we asked for a second round of it! The Buffalo Chicken, Pork Shoulder, Sashimi Tuna and Flank Steak tacos were our choice of dinner. I think $14 for tacos could be a bit overpriced, but I am not complaining. This place could be in the heart of Fishtown, a neighborhood in Philadelphia - which means it was be a great hit! I don't understand all the complaints. In Baltimore, you pay outrageous money for bad eats all the time (because crab is on every plate, thus upcharging to DC prices). This place is ACTUALLY good eats for the same price as your crab mac' & cheese or lobster roll from Thames St. Oyster House, which are not nearly as filling. Barcocina is the new hotness in Fells Point. It rests in a location that has hosted a few different bars the past 10 years, and I am delighted to share that this new brand is the best concept thus far. First off, the view is impeccable. It's located right in the heart of all the action, facing the water and it's beautiful views. The facility has those trendy garage door style roll up walls/doors/windows so on a nice night/day the restaurant is open air. The staff wear fun uniforms,mans the tables and chairs are trendy woods mixed with brushed and textured metals. Fancy looking vibe. Second, the theme is Mexican tapas. It's so nice to have something other than Greek tapas, which I love, but has dominated this part of town to the degree of over saturation. The food was great. We got a queso appetizer rich in taste and creative with ingredients, coupled with homemade dipping chips. I experienced the braised shoulder tacos, and they were moist and tasty. The entreé I ordered was a shareable steak cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. The drinks are creative, a must for any $10+ menu. I killed a few of their whiskey based options with joy. They have a full bar with any imaginable option. The seating is a variety of regular and tall table settings, but they also have these limo length party sections perfect for bachelors and bachelorettes celebrating their impending marriages, or whatever purpose requiring 20-30 great friends and alcohol. The bathrooms are huge and private. Odd to say this, but the best bathrooms in town. What a great place! If you're into Mexican food, this is a fun option to experiment with. 4 stars for now. I'll have to try more of the menu before blessing it with anything higher, but it get the sense this idea will be appreciated when considering the other options on the block. read more

It was my first time in Baltimore and Barcocina was a perfect introduction. With a beautiful water view, Mexican flare and a modern open layout, you can't go wrong. Maybe I was high on life because the weather was perfect and I was excited to feel spring was finally in the air, but for me it was a 5 star experience all the way! My friends and I all did the bottomless brunch, I went with the "bloody maria" which is there own bacon infused tequila instead of vodka. It was great! They are big glasses however, so I only had 2-- but being from New York City, two drinks for $10 is 100% worth it! For food we tried almost everything on the menu, we were a pretty large group. The highlights for me was there Warm Bacon Salsa, the Jalapeno Cornbread, their Hawaiian Pork Tacos, and the sausage pancakes! I heard about this place via a Baltimore Sun article entitled "Our Favorite Restaurants with Outdoor Seating", or something like that. Since it was so nice out this Saturday, I steered my girlfriend and I to Fells Point for lunch and we ended up checking it out. First off, the majority of the staff sucks. We got there at 2:45pm not aware that they close the kitchen from 3-4pm for a dinner time/menu changeover. There were three hostesses at the front of the house, none of which were overly interested in helping us (which would prove to be a trend throughout our experience there). We decided to sit at the bar to expedite ordering before the kitchen took their hour break, but were snubbed by the two female bartenders for the first 5 minutes. A male bartender (Matt?) then came over and was actually very pleasant and helpful, especially in relation to answering questions and letting us know the kitchen was shutting down soon. We ordered some guacamole and chips, and the lemon fish tacos. The guac and chips came out first, and the first chip I ate wasn't cooked; the edges were crisp, but the center was chewy. I guess they figure that having "home made" tortilla chips is good enough, so they don't have to worry about actually cooking them thoroughly, as 50% of the other chips were in the same, semi-raw condition. The guacamole was average. When the fish tacos came out, I was overcome with the unpleasant fishy aroma that you find in shitty seafood departments of grocery stores, and was taken back that it was coming from the tacos and not a trash can. I tried to look past it but could only bring myself to eat half of one taco before bowing out in fear of vomiting later; my girlfriend ending up eating the other two, I don't know how she did it. Because of that, I ended up eating more of the uncooked chips than I would've liked, which resulted in me feeling nauseous anyway. The icing on the cake is that apparently we were sitting next to one of the waitresses who was not working that day, because all of the bartenders, waiters/waitresses, and managers came over to chit chat with her throughout the course of our visit. No one seemed to care about presenting themselves professionally in front of customers either, as their conversations were loud, annoying and chock full of what most people would consider inappropriate content. I've overhead many a moronic conversation before, but the insane amount of stupid things and time the staff wasted talking to this girl was ridiculous. Everything but the design/decor of Barcocina SCREAMS immaturity, inexperienced and stupidity. I understand it's only been open for a month, but aren't you supposed to spend time preparing/training your staff before you actually open a restaurant? I guess the owners/managers don't think that it's necessary to present themselves in an above-average fashion, and since they're situated in a prime location in Fells Point, I guess they're right... people are going to come here no matter how daft the service and food quality is. It's a real shame. Maybe they'll get their act together in a few months, but I won't go back to find out. read more

This restaurant is the prime example of a place that thinks that because it has one of the best locations in town, it does not need to focus on its food. This happens all the time - restaurants with the best views have mediocre or bad food! Anyway, first the positives: 1) margaritas were fantastic especially the one with the Jalepeno foam. 2) This place is totally kid friendly - so many little ones - they are very accommodating. 3) Service was great - well for the most part. I'll get to the bad in a bit. 4) The place is huge and does have a great indoors and outdoors. Most of the indoors seems like outdoors because it's so open. 5) Fantastic desserts especially the strawberry shortcake dessert. 6) Chips were very good. Now for the negatives: 1) The empanadas. DO NOT get these. They are ridiculously expensive, are 2 to an order and barely, really barely have any filling at all. We couldn't even tell the difference between the duck confit and the vegetarian as both were heavily loaded with corn. 2) All of the food took literally 3 minutes after ordering to come out, so be sure to order when you're ready for it. But the dessert - dessert took over 30minutes to come out. The manager came and apologized and comped our desserts but it was still nuts that everything else was so prompt. 3) I want to re-emphasize the super small portions. It does not surprise me that the same people that own Bond Street Social own this joint especially after we saw the size of our food. Except dessert. Generous large servings of both desserts we ordered. I wouldn't say that the tacos had anything negative about them but they were just ok. Nothing to write home about. Overall, we paid way too much money for way too little food. So in my opinion, come here for a few margaritas and get the chips + salsa or guac and then move on to somewhere else in Fells for dinner. read more

Location of restaurant (it's hidden) should be explained 5. Events are not broadcast via website 6. Private parties tab, does not state a private room is available nor it's capacity. 7. Catering menu needs to be revised to include more courses, dessert & hidden rules. This restaurant opened during the Spring of 2014 and is located by the water in Fells Point. The restaurant is not visually apparent from the road as it's located down an tiny street at the end of Broadway. I can understand why it may get overlooked. Although street parking and an open lot are available, open spaces are not. Note: no valet available. Your best bet would be parking in the garage located about a block and a half away. This restaurant was selected to serve as the locale to host an all grades reunion for the grade school I attended. Not ironically, the locale was selected and the reunion organized by a manager of the restaurant. One would presume that such a connection, would elicit benefits above the common. That would be a false presumption. We were given a mere 10% discount, similar to what would be gifted to a senior citizen. We all paid out of pocket and many lost interest due to cost. The total for the small catering package and the top shelf open bar was $78pp. As compared to what is offered by Zagat rated Baltimore restaurants with catering menus, we were overcharged for what we received. More food and courses are available elsewhere and I'm certain their open bar doesn't have rules. The room is a decent size (50 ppl capacity) and gas its own bar. The restaurant failed to put up the sign (although available) that the room is closed to a private party. Random people will occasionally wander in. Our party's catering was scheduled to last for 3 hours. The food, is palatable but not delicious. Definitely not worth the price paid. No prixe fixe course menu is available. The tapas were plated, tabled, all the while served uncovered, cold & dry. No covered steamers were used. **Hello? Health Department, it's Ericka.** The food was unimpressive to the point that only complaints were voiced. One described it as repulsive. We were served: buffalo chicken tacos, cheeseburger tacos, mini loaded potatoes & guacamole. That was it. We did not choose. All was served "unlimitedly". That option was $35pp. We had a party of about 25-30ppl. In my opinion, for that price we should have received guacamole & chips as the app, a choice of 4 varied tacos, then a dessert plus soda, coffee & tea for $35pp. No one ate their money's worth. We would have made out better to order 5 plates each of 5 dishes of tapas, it would be more food than we were served and cost far less. As unlimited as we were served our cold, dry apps, at the 2 hr and 58 minute mark instead of no longer serving food, and leaving us to finish the rest, the leftover food was taken away without communication. The top shelf open bar. We were given wrist bands to identify us. Note: it was a private party room supposedly restricted to only us and there was no "dry" ticket available so it should have been a given that we are all entitled drinks. But... There were other unwritten rules. No shots. This rule must be in small print in invisible ink on the catering drink menu as no one knew and the news was not well received. Additionally, only one drink at a time per person. Even if you were at the bar with three sips left of your current drink and make an order for your next, you are told: either finish what you have or handover the excess for a trade for the new drink. This rule was held even at "last call". The top shelf drink package was $45 per person. Again, we did not get our money's worth. We were better off paying for our drinks individually. So that's the bad, there was good. Although distasteful, bacteria ridden, cold & dry, we never ran out of food. We had a dedicated bartender who, aside from the absurd "rules" was polite. The restaurant was clean and updated. Although out of view from the street and hidden in the back, the restaurant/bar area did get busy and crowded. Also, managers were everywhere. Even the classmate who organized it. He was everywhere as well.... He was working that night. :/ Now... Will I go again? Sure... As long as it's on YOUR dime and YOU drop me off out front and pick me up out front in YOUR car. But as far as will I invest another dime here? No sir. No sir or ma'am! I was already overcharged by $40 for that blasted party. No thank you. I respect my coins far too much. They need to make huge changes to see me or my tiara ever again. read more

The rehab is gorgeous -- and this place needed it. I've been watching the construction and eagerly awaiting the opening for weeks. We scored a seat outside which was great. Our waitress was prompt, attentive and courteous...without ever being too "in your face." She pointed out that the menu was a work in progress (yellow highlights denote what's actually available). My friends and I were surprised to learn there was no happy hour specials on a Thursday evening. We order drinks, the cocoa salsa and the barcocina guac. They were nice enough to bring me a plate of carrots and celery for dipping (I don't eat tortilla chips). We ordered 6 drinks total (between 3 people) and they all tasted like spicy sour mix...some came with "foam" floating on top...it looked and tasted like swamp. At $10 - $12 per cocktail we were all sorely disappointed. Especially when a spot like Rye, right across the street, stirs together some truly delicious craft cocktails for equal or less. The salsa and guac were actually very good...but the portions are rather small and at $7 and $11 respectively, I would have expected more. Lamb ribs had a tasty sauce and fell right off the bone, but they were mostly fat and, true to form, disappointing. The space itself is fantastic. One of the only true waterfront bars/restaurants in the city. My suggestion would be to eat elsewhere and stick with beer, wine or more standard cocktails. read more

Great brunch spot! All you can drink mimosas - $10 - entrees are reasonably priced. I got the steak and eggs, and it was a lot of food! We went with a big group and had the best seating, indoors, but by the windows that open up so it's like you're outside. This place has a GREAT view! We also got the guacamole with balsamic - so good! I'm not the biggest fan of guac, and I couldn't stop eating it. Their chips are phenomenal - for some reason my whole party was obsessed with the chips! Definitely a great place to bring people from out of town, or to go to enjoy a great view. (9/16/2015) Playing tourist in our own hometown, went to Barcocina primarily because of it's location, Fells Point and on the waterfront. It was a beautiful evening out, we sat on the patio. Place was full on a Wednesday night, volume indoors was deafening, between the 90s alt rock and echos of people shouting to be heard over the music. We thought we were just going to nosh, but ended up with so many small plates, we covered the table (be warned, timing is as it comes). The place bills itself as upscale Mexican. Everything on the menu seems cleverly designed to hook you in (line and sinker). Apparently, I'm a sucker if you say the magic words. Got the Warm Cocoa and Bacon Salsa, with Nutella powder. Yes, I fell for it. You said "Nutella" AND "bacon" in the same dish. It was actually not bad, smokey chipotle, roasted tomatoes, def had some bacon and cocoa in it (I think they were going for mole without the subtlety and carefully crafted nuance), def too sweet, but OK with a basket of warm freshly made tortilla chips. Also, I fell for the Lobster Guacamole. It was a decent chunky, fresh, bright green guac, some lime tartness, some heat from chili oil, some rather fishy smelling lobster chunks. I basically ate all the lobster out of it to recoup the cost. If you stick with the classic Oaxacan, you'd probably be better off. Every menu in town now has Brussels Sprouts as a side, this Mexican place was no exception. They were sufficiently roasted, somewhat bland. Grilled Lemon Fish Tacos were just fine. Fish was well-seasoned, somewhat overcooked. Side of Crispy Yucca Tots (you said "tots") were piping hot, crispy, starch bombs; they're exactly like they sound. A Watermelon Infusion cocktail was perfect for the late summer heat, refreshing, costly. The food was fine, not stellar. Crowd was tourists and twenty-somethings (it is still Fells Point after all). What you pay for is the price of admission and the real estate. If you keep that in mind and don't fall for the Jedi mind tricks, you will probably do fine. Love Barcocina!! Their drinks are generous and the tacos are so different (so delicious!). Great view of the water and tables outside, also big garage doors they open when it's nice out. Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Also their guac is amazing and the brunch items are all great. Would definitely go back! read more

Service was horrible. Guacamole is ok. Fish tacos made us sick. Service was horrible. Drinks were weak and expensive. Service was horrible. One person in our party got their food as the rest of our party was nearly done eating. Bartender told us that some food takes longer to prepare and they can't control timing. Bullsh@t, I cook and serve in a restaurant and timing is definitely something a kitchen/waitstaff CAN control. She messed up the order and didn't own it... the least she could've done was apologize... a quick smile and "sorry 'bout that" could've resolved the situation but instead she was borderline confrontational. It's a shame the management team has allowed this nicely built out space go to waste. This is a great example of how a place relies on location and design and disregards product and service. read more

If you're looking for a relaxed, delicious, alcohol-induced lunch or dinner, this place is great! Especially if it's nice weather, since their waterfront patio is so nice! The cocktails are made well. If you can handle some spice, try the jalapeno margarita - so good! And mix and match tacos for the table are always a great idea! And this may sound silly, but honestly, this place has the best bathrooms. All individual and private but many of them and beautiful finishes. The only thing keeping this from a 5-star is the late night. The crowd elevates to an ungodly level of douche. I seriously don't know where all these gel-haired axe-smelling jersey bros come from but they love this place. Also, while the atmosphere is really open and inviting during the day and evening, everyone ends up cramming near the bar late night so it's a weird mass of people with a lot of empty restaurant next to them. After coming here quite a few times for the bar/dancing, I decided to venture out and try Barcocina during the day. Let's just say that I'll be sticking to nighttime here. I came here with a friend looking for a light dinner. The menu is limited and I wasn't particularly hungry so I opted for guacamole. What a mistake. It didn't taste freshly made and had way too much lemon and/or lime juice so it was too liquidy and tart in taste. The consistency was that of sour cream. My friend ordered the fish tacos and he said they were good. We also ordered the yucca tots, which were immediately sent back after 1 bite each. They were quite strange tasting but also were super small for the price. Our server was super nice and swapped it out for another side of our choice, the jalapeno cornbread, which was much better. I wasn't a fan of the jalapenos, luckily, they weren't overwhelming and were easily tolerated by a spice whimp like me. Our server was MIA for the first half of the meal but she made a comeback like the Patriots in the Super Bowl and was much better in the second half of our meal. Overall, the food was ehh. Given the multitude of choices of places to eat in this area, and the limited vegetarian entrees, I would likely go somewhere else for dinner. Stopped by for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. 1. Outdoor seating. In the summertime, they have a really beautiful view of the water. You can also see the ships and people walking around Fells Point. It really puts you in a great mood to eat tacos and see Baltimore as the beautiful city it can be. 2. Tacos. We all got tacos: reuben, steak, and fish. Each order came with three tacos and depending on the protein, they had different sauces and toppings. I tried the steak and the fish and thought both were pretty delicious. The steak was very tender, but the fish did have a "fishy" taste to it that might turn some diners off. Maybe some lemon would have helped? The tacos also came in soft shells, which is my preference anyways! 3. Guacamole. We ordered the basic/classic guacamole. Definitely enough to share for 4 people. The chips were really crispy and thick enough to dip into the guac. 4. Service. Very fast and efficient. We ordered refills for sodas and they came quickly. I feel like sometimes soda refills can fall by the wayside. The food also came quickly, so this spot works for a longer lunch break. read more

The divide on this place's reviews hark back to its roots. Barcocina is the latest bay-side restaurant from the people that brought Fell's Point the Bond Street Social restaurant and nightclub down the way. Predictably, the 30% of Baltimore folks who love Bond Street will like this place. For the rest of us, it's overpriced, overly-jazzed, underperforming menu with drinks that use tricks of the restaurant trade to upsell you a mojito that looks fancy but is really flavored with artificial-tasting syrups. Everyone will agree it has one of the best views in Fell's Point. Beyond that, it totally depends on your love for this very particular, overly groomed cult culture occasionally seen in Fell's Point. read more
