Low light sushi restaurant with stone walls and a full on bar when you first walk in and just beyond that there is also a full on sushi bar. Service is pretty fast. Very kid friendly, I came with my 12 year old for his birthday dinner and the server was very nice and gave great recommendations. My son LOVED all of them with her top recommendation, the Samurai, being his absolute favorite. I ordered a Lychee Martini (pictured with the single spring roll and eel sauce plate) which was exactly what I would expect it to taste like. The only hiccup we had was that the parking is pretty complicated. Directly across from the sushi restaurant, the cars all had boots on them, so I would recommend the AMLI parking right behind the restaurant which is validated with a sticker. You pay $5 at the restaurant even tho the parking lot shows different. Sushi Pictured From left to right: Fried Spring Rolls (4), Spider Maki Roll, Samurai, Shaggy Dog, California Maki Roll.

This spot was so good. All the nigeri were delicious. Service was ok, server never brought my edamame. I would come back again if I'm Austin.

Pretty good sushi experience downtown! The sushi quality was solid and the chicken katsu was well fried but some of the supporting ingredients didn't seem to mesh well flavor wise for me but that could definitely be personal preference. Service was solid and it's in a great location downtown

Took myself on a solo date here and I am so glad I did! The service was so accommodating and welcoming. The fish was incredibly fresh and every bite had me wanting more. Already planning my next visit!

I've been here three times now and have had a great experience each time. I would say this is the perfect place to go downtown if you don't feel like paying $200 on omakase or upscale dining, but you still want a nice lunch or dinner. They have some happy hour deals and a great selection of sushi, apps, and drinks. I've never had to make a reservation which makes things easy. I usually street park but I believe they will validate your parking in one of the parking garages.

We stopped by for a quick bite during happy hour. The sushi quality isn't top-notch, but it's fair for the price. We sat at the bar and our bartender was super friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. The ambiance is dark, cozy, and chill making it a good spot to relax and catch up over drinks and rolls.

Super fast and friendly service at the bar. Yummy drinks and sushi options. Convenient location perfect for date night or a bite before a night on the town!

Been coming here for over a decade. Glad to see it's still just as good. I come here for their golden lion role. Something about the lemon slice that really makes this roll one of my favorites in town. We came on a Saturday night at 8pm with a rezzy and our table was ready. Service is great and food comes out fast. It's always really loud here but the music is good and it's the downtown party vibe. It's very dark inside as well. Miso soup: 8/10 Shrimp tempura: 9/10 Golden lion: 11/10 Shaggy dog: 9.5/10 Flying dragon: 7/10 (little soggy) Spicy girl: 8/10 Volcano: 9/10 Love at first sight: 7/10 (apparently a popular roll but not a favorite for us) Cocktails were great too. Loved the lychee martini. 4 stars mainly due to only having 2 restrooms (one unisex each) so the wait can get long and annoying. Outside of this, love this spot and looking forward to coming back.

Came in for happy hour and everything was delicious! Not pictured, but the fried rice was out of this world as well (I'd recommend getting a side). The sushi was more than enough, and everyone left full and satisfied. Would definitely come back to take advantage of this deal!

I hate to leave a negative review but me and my friends had a very below average experience here last night. Overall, the food was fine, nothing to complain about but the service was genuinely terrible. I arrived a little after my friends so when our server came out to take our order I wasn't completely ready so I apologized and ask if he could come back in a few and that I would be ready. I don't think he came back outside for 30 minutes. At that point I ordered my food and I got one item about 30 minutes later and then my other item 30 minutes after that. So total, I think I waited about an hour and a half to get all of my food. To add to the experience, we were sitting outside and when my friends arrived a bird pooped on our table and it apparently made a big mess. That was obviously no one's fault so we weren't upset at all but the waitstaff was not very helpful. Then it happened again later and the bird pooped on my friends head very unfortunate but our server did not care at all. We ended up moving tables but overall he was completely emotionless and unenthusiastic for our entire time at the restaurant.

The intimate, speakeasy setting is such a vibe! Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!

The omakase is beautifully orchestrated by Chef Saine Wong. Each bite more delectable than the last. What a wonderful, special meal. No notes. Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. I particularly went there on a Wednesday to try their A5 Wagyu sandwich, but because I hadn't been there in so long, I wanted to have all the rolls that sounded so amazing on the happy hour menu that I couldn't even get to the sandwich. Every single role we had was absolutely off the charts. They even had a Toro role on happy hour for $10 which was such a steal. The service and ambience was also as usual impeccable. It was a dreary Friday afternoon but you could not tll that from the folks sitting at the bar enjoying their lives in Uchiko. There are awesome lunch specials and a lunchtime happy hour. There is nothing quite like being on vacation, ordering amazing sushi, and pairing it with a delicious wine that costs $5 with one of your girlfriends - like truly, that is the good life. Our bartender hooked us up with a surprise order of 4 different nigiri - all were awesome. He even sent us a savory mushroom skewer and a complimentary dessert. We had originally wanted their Kinoko nigiri but it's only on the dinner menu which is why he sent us something similar from the lunch menu. I got to try the white wine on the lunch menu as well as the lychee martini (just $7). Since it was raining, we got "stuck" in Uchiko for quite the long lunch, but it was absolutely fabulous.
