First off. The Tuna Pizza at this place has my heart. Quite literally will go here just for that. The service has always been great. Sundays have a great happy hour but you might have to wait but absolutely worth it. Decent size restaurant with plenty of indoor seating and when it's nice out, cute patio tables. So many great rolls but you MUST try the tuna pizza. read more

*I don't eat sushi so the review of those items comes from my companions. We came with a large group for happy hour and this place did not disappoint! Great cocktails $5 appetizers and $5 cocktails. All of the food that came out of the kitchen was on point and delicious. I had shrimp tempura and gyoza. Both were perfect. This spot is definitely worth a return trip. read more

I ordered the bacon and scallop skewer, ceviche tostada, shiitake mushroom skewer, grilled squid, dynamite roll, and coconut pineapple juice. The only thing I would get again is their shiitake mushroom skewer. I might go again and just get that only. It had an umami and charred taste but still juicy, so good! I went on a Sunday so it's happy hours all day. The ceviche tostada was the worst. It was flavorless and fish didn't taste good. The bacon and scallop was decent. The dynamite roll crawfish was a bit underseasoned and it came out cold. The grilled squid need a bit more flavor. The coconut pineapple juice was more like coconut milk and pineapple. I was thinking of them using coconut juice because of the name. read more

Really good vibe food was really good. Gave it a four out of five because I didn't bust, but it was amazing. I would definitely suggest the The California roll. The fried rice was so good very well seasoned very well. Yummy. Prices were OK for being an Austin restaurant pretty good. You should definitely go. You don't need the noodles by the way. read more

BarChi Sushi - Some of the food - Sushi Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

4 out of 5 stars Solid happy hour spot! I was looking for a place downtown to meet up with friends and family for happy hour, and stumbled upon BarChi Sushi, I'm glad I gave it a shot. The vibe is what you'd expect from a modern sushi spot: relaxed, clean, and comfortable. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We stuck with the usual happy hour suspects.. spicy tuna rolls, salmon rolls, and a few others. Nothing mind-blowing, but for the happy hour price? No complaints at all. Everything hit the spot, and the portions were fair for what you pay. If you're looking for a chill spot downtown to grab decent sushi and drinks without breaking the bank, BarChi definitely fits the bill. read more

Food: 4/5 BarChi during reverse happy hour is absolutely unmatched by anywhere else in town. The gyoza, sushi, tempura, and even their steaks are incredibly good during this time. Add some sake and other drinks on top for a deal, and you'll have a great evening. Outside of happy hour, the prices can be a little steep for the quality that you're getting. Service: 5/5 The service is always very quick and flawless. Great for large parties as well! Environment: 5/5 If you're expecting to have an absolute blast in a party-like atmosphere and music, then BarChi is exactly where you want to go for sushi. Parking is a nightmare based on their location downtown though. read more

Not only was this restaurant 5 minutes from our hotel but it had an amazing happy hour menu until 7pm. The options on the menu were perfect to try the popular sushi plates for half the price. Personally got the mango martini and it was delicious I got 3! The server was amazing and helpful and quick! The ambiance was your normal sushi spot decor with dark colors and outside seating availability. read more

Decided to give BarChi a try with a friend since their happy hour deals seemed worth a visit. We made a reservation on Yelp for a weeknight around 5:30 (probably not wise given the peak traffic time) to have plenty of time for happy hour, and parked in the AMLI Downtown garage (BarChi will give you 2 hrs. for $5). OVERVIEW: The happy hour deals were nice because it was an entire menu of items (lots of variety), but the prices weren't anything incredible and the food was pretty mediocre even for the discounted pricing. With so many other (better) sushi spots in town, I wouldn't opt to revisit BarChi. Not worth the location, parking, and price. QUICK FACTS: - Reservations? Yes, you can book via Yelp. - Parking? Yes, street parking around downtown or AMLI Downtown garage parking (off of Lavaca St.) for $5 for up to 2 hrs. (must validate at BarChi!) - Happy hour? Yes, Mon.-Sat., 4-7pm and Sunday all day FOOD RATINGS: - Edamame (3/5): Not sure how you can mess up edamame but they were overcooked so the shell was super mushy and sometimes stuck to the beans. Basic, nothing special. - Gyoza (3/5): Tasted like Trader Joe's frozen gyoza you can make at home. Just okay. - Austin Roll (4/5): Probably the best thing we ordered. Loved the variety of tuna, salmon, and white fish. Sort of like a rainbow roll. - Samurai Roll (3.5/5): Didn't have much flavor. Fish was just okay, didn't seem very fresh. - Oreo Dream (2/5): Our server recommended this dessert as something he could eat every day. I pity him for that because this was disappointing. Fried Oreos but they were overly mushy and honestly not very good. The ice cream was basic vanilla (tasted like H‑E‑B ice cream, nothing fancy) and besides the presentation, there wasn't much going for this dessert. read more

We visited here on a Wednesday during happy hour. It wasn't too busy yet and we were sat promptly. It's very dark in the restaurant so we sat near the windows and the bar at a table. We ordered the below: -spicy edamame (5/10) -hamachi jalapeño (5/10) -spicy Tuna roll (5/10) -spicy salmon roll (4/10) -lychee martinis (7/10) -spicy bloody sake mary (7/10) Everything was average, the hamachi jalapeño is not what I expected, it was almost seared and I thought it was going to be raw yellowtail. The edamame did not taste fresh and just had some spices sprinkled on top, it was not spicy as I expected. The happy hour prices are fair. The service was fine, but although our waitress forgot to bring fresh wasabi and spicy mayo and we had to ask her again. Definitely not eager to return. read more

One of my fav places downtown, lots of delicious options for whatever mood you're in. They have a cocktail menu and great sake options. Each time I've come here I've tried different things and haven't been disappointed yet. I usually make a reservation to ensure ease of getting a table. I've sat outside, the bar, and in the general table area. There's not a bad spot. This time we tried the fried shrimp wontons, the spicy hamachi tacos, the skydiver roll, and the love at first sight roll, finishing w the fried cheesecake for dessert. It was a perfect dinner before we needed to be at our next venue for a show. read more

The food and atmosphere is always fantastic!!! Last night was no difference. Although, I'm pretty sure my girlfriend and I scared the poor younger bartender we're a bit much. Mediocre at best, extremely inconsistent. I give it a 3/5 because I have actually had maybe two really good experiences but the other 3 times were so unfortunate and disappointing. The staff are nice, restaurant is extremely dark and loud. The food is just so hard to recommend when there are much better and consistent options. It's a hard sell since they aren't exactly cheap either but they are conveniently situated in downtown I suppose. I wouldn't recommend since there are better options with better price points but it seems like they try (sometimes). read more

When you see a review saying that a place has the "best happy hour in Austin", it would be natural to be skeptical. So I tried it. And hey - in terms of sushi - this is probably the best happy hour in Austin. Great deals before 7 PM and they're bringing real quality to the table. Some of my favorites are the seared escolar and their simple nigiri. The sake Bloody Mary is spicy and delicious, made with housemaid mix. In both of my experiences here the bartenders have been knowledgeable about the menu and very nice to interact with. Pro tip: they will validate 90 minutes of parking in the Austin City Hall parking garage. read more

This is one of my sushi go-to places for happy hours, especially on Sundays because they have all-day happy hour! A variety of different rolls, skewers, appetizers, and drinks are discounted, and their lychee martini ($9) is one of my favorite drinks there! I would it consider the seafood top-notch quality but you can't beat the relatively-reasonable prices during happy hour, so I recommend coming to try out some of their discounted items during happy hour before you commit to their full-priced menu if you're a bit hesitant. There typically can be just a little bit of a wait, but you can order drinks at their bar while you wait for your table! read more

We had the BEST waitress. She was attentive, kind, welcoming, charming, and informative. Truly amazing service from the moment we sat down. We sat outside, and although it summer we were able to get a good breeze. The inside was amazing. Clean, nice bar area, appropriately spaced tables, and not too cold AC which I appreciate. The food. Very good. Sweet potato fries were well balanced. I didn't eat the tofu - friends did- so can't speak to it personally but they loved it! The Nigiri is as delicious, each specific item individually. Ceviche tostadas we're surprisingly delicious and well presented. And the Austin rolls did not disappoint. Taste, flavor, presentation were all very nice. It's easy to get Sushi wrong, but here they got it right. Will definitely come back, and check out the inside for sure. But this time everything was amazing. Recommend! read more

This is a really solid spot for sushi rolls. There's a lot of high end sushi in Austin but I've been searching for a more affordable place I can grab some rolls on the regular. This is the best I've found for that so far and they also have a great happy hour. We made a reservation for a Thursday night but it wasn't necessary. Our waitress recommended some rolls for us and we were happy with the selection. It can get a little loud in there so I'd eat on the earlier side if that's an issue. Hope to go back for happy hour soon! Good spot for when you're craving sushi on a random night. read more

Looking for my spot in Austin for sushi has been challenging, but come here if you want something good, and the Happy Hour seems pretty good! Here's my review: Pros: - Spacious seating outside on the sidewalk - Full bar menu with whisky to wine - Music created a lively vibe - Sushi was good/fresh - Drinks/cocktails - Priced well Cons: - Street parking, but it's ordinary in DT - No big ice spheres/blocks - Cramped bar area Drinks: - Negroni - Old Fashioned Food: - Spicy Hamachi Tacos - Agedashi Tofu - Luigi Roll - Spider Roll - Hamachi Nigiri - Madai Nigiri - Sweet Shrimp Nigiri Summary BarChi has a long wait for lines most days (around 45 minutes), so plan accordingly. The food was pretty good! The spicy hamachi tacos were pretty damn good but on the smaller end. The rolls and nigiri were as expected, but the agedashi tofu was surprisingly damn good. Cheap, too! I had a negroni and their smokey old fashion as far as drinks. The only ask is that they would have the classic old fashion glasses and big ice rocks that are clear, but the most important, the drink was damn delicious. I'm a picky drinker here, so don't mind me! The music set a vibe as it reminded me of TAO in LA/LV (the restaurant portion in Vegas). People were friendly and when it gets busy, just call on your wait staff as they likely have a million things going on at once, but if you ask, they'll get it for you! Great spot, all-in-all, and it has the vibes for a nice night out on the town! read more

Have always loved this place. Their happy hour during the day is great and then they have a reverse happy hour ar night which is amazing as well. I've gotten many of their dishes every time I go. Stopped in here for Sunday happy hour, I would recommend this place because the food is good and for a cheap price. I didn't love their Peppered Tuna I loved the Shaggy dog and the Nemo roll. Barchi is my go-to for sushi. They're very consistent and their staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The bartenders are so nice as well, no one is ever forgotten at the bar. The happy hour is such a blessing. The cold pineapple sake is refreshing and just enough to get you the buzz you need to have a great time with your friend(s). 1 star is generous. I had the unfortunate experience of ordering from this horrible establishment. We called in our order and picked it up. 5 minutes later, we got a call that 2 of our rolls were not in our bag. We walked back and we were handed a bag that we later realized had someone else's appetizer instead. After calling back and speaking to Leo, the manager, accused me of trying to "scam him" after ordering $100+ of sushi (+ the automatic 15% grat.) I was really disappointed in the way I was treated by this person who clearly has no idea what hospitality or good service entails. For a random, spur of the moment, "let's just eat here" restaurant, it wasn't bad. Our waiter really listened to what we wanted when we ordered (I always ask for modifications) and didn't mess anything up... And the food was pretty tasty, but the portions were kind of small and the food didn't BLOW ME AWAY. I ordered the Hamachi Kama, which is $17- the most expensive I have ever seen it on a menu. And sadly, when it arrived I was disappointed because it was smaller than the typical as well. That being said, the flavor was utterly terrific but it's hard to mess up hamachi kama (I cook it at home all the time). I also ordered a rolled wrapped in cucumber (salmon and avocado)... This was tasty but again, tiny. I could have easily eaten 5 of them, not even kidding a little bit. Salmon Skin Handrolls are something I ALWAYS order so of course I ordered those too and they were great but also I wouldn't classify them as salmon skin... It was basically a cooked salmon roll with salmon skin on it. Regardless, they were great (I wound up eating 8)... But if you're looking for crispy salmon skin, this is not it. Edamame... It's hard to mess these up... Although I've had bad batches in the past, crazily enough lol. This was not a bad batch though! My friends I were with seemed to really enjoy their food (octopus skewers, calamari, seaweed salad, escolar sashimi, a roll of some sort, etc), so that's good- and over all we were all generally happy. That being said, if I lived in Austin, I don't think I would make this my go to spot cause I just think it was missing something. read more
