This place has a very anti-customer business model. You get a card that you use to pay for drinks by the ounce which you pour yourselves (you pay for food separately at a counter with your credit card). At the end of your stay you have to put your beverage card in a box that will add a 15%, 20%, or 25% tip to your drink bill (if you leave with the card it automatically tips 20%). Essentially you have to pour all your drinks yourself AND you have to tip an imaginary employee. They don't even give you the option to not tip, even though you did ALL the work. Also, if there is someone who isn't used to pouring their own beer from a tap (which they probably won't be if they haven't worked in restaurants) then they also will likely waste, and pay for, lots of extra beer due to pouring incorrectly. They get 1 star back for having a couple impressive beers in their small selection. read more

Really good , casual restaurant in Boulder. The pizza was thin and crispy. I would've preferred it if the Parmesan cheese was on the side, but it was still very good. We ordered the large Bella Salad and split between the three of us. It was one of the best salads I've eaten in a long time! We even tried the chocolate chip cookie and it was pretty good too. Excellent new pizza place in downtown Boulder. We can never have enough good pizza options here. And this place doesn't disappoint. The signature "Red Barchetta" pizza was excellent. Light. Just the right touch of spicy. And cooked to perfection. The pour-your-own wine/ beer station is also a nice approach to serving beverages. Especially for those who just want to have a few ounces (and pay accordingly). Roasted veggies side dish was also excellent. Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful as well. Had just picked up our daughter who was in town from Seattle and took her to get Ramen. Later, We had late night pizza . Probably some of the best slices we've had in years ! Top Notch customer service over the phone when we ordered but the customer service was even better at the counter! Wish I had tipped more! Completely different service than our dinner earlier. R Ramen which I had been to a few times before definitely fell short. They seemed unhappy to serve us and also the food has gone down in quality. Really glad we found this new pizza place with so many places closed on 4th of July. Pizza was really good and ready right on time, solid 4 stars. Since we took it to go, was disappointed they didn't have plates/ napkins etc. But that's an easy fix. We'll be back next time in Boulder. read more

Was really looking forward to some killer pizza passing through as a tourist given the rave reviews. Pizza was fine, however pretty pricey for simple classics on super thin crust. I don't have a problem paying for quality, but paying the same price for a simple margherita pizza as one with 3-4 premium toppings at our local specialty pizza place was pretty disappointing. I had my Undergrad graduation party here. It was the most amazing experience. Ted, the manager was so great with getting everything ready and very responsive with planning the months/weeks leading up to it. We had about 30-50 people come. We rented the outdoor space where they were able to pull down the tent walls and turn on and off the heaters to keep the temperature regulated. They kept brining out delicious food and kept the drinks flowing. Everyone had so much fun! They even let us bring in our own cake and provided a knife, plates, and utensils to serve. I want to extend a huge thank you to Ted and his staff for a wonderful experience. They busted their asses to make sure the party ran smoothly. One of the best places to go in Boulder hands down. My friends and I went to Barchetta as a big group, the staff was extremely helpful and not overwhelmed by how large our group of people was. They helped us with their drinks-on-tap feature, which was a super interesting and hip way of providing alcohol. The pizzas were amazing, the crust was thin and they were cooked to perfection. The side salads were decent, definitely wouldn't come here if you are looking for an extravagant salad as a meal but then again it is a pizza place for a reason. The pizza is very good but not worth the price. You have to order at the counter and serve your own beer or wine at the self serve dispensing system. So basically there is no table service, they want a 20% tip and charge too much for pizza. I won't be back. There are better pizza options. W O W!!! I picked my dad up from the airport and we just wanted something quick and easy and Barchetta did NOT disappoint. Jeff at the counter was quick, attentive, and answered all of our questions. Lizzie was our waitress and provided excellent 10/10 service. She was prompt and professional. We recommend the broccolini and the wings in addition to any of their pizzas. The Bianco pizza is my absolute favorite pizza, but even if you aren't a pizza fan they have a great selection of salads and dessert options as well. Pizza is a difficult animal to tame in the Front Range. Could it be the consistency of the water? Then again, there are a dearth of good bakeries compared to the East & West Coast. Barchetta attempts to counter that statement and almost succeeds. The owner, Jesse, has an extensive background in Detroit style pizza. But Barchetta specializes in New York thin crust with a twist; a softer top and a honey soaked crust ala Colorado style. And unlike other Colorado pizza artisans Barchetta will sell slices. I tried the Margherita and all white Bianco and both were satisfying. Maybe it was the wood fired oven. And great customer service and nice individual touches (a 14 tap self service wine and beer bar and cool industrial hand washing station) differentiate Barchetta from competitors like Locale (now Alberico), Vero, & Audrey Jane's. And a refreshing lack of pretension (antithetical to the current pizzeria trends) was most welcome. No, Barchetta cannot be compared to the likes of New Haven's Frank Pepe, New York City's Patsy's & Napoletana, & Phoenix's Bianco, but it's a perfectly delicious "slice of heaven" for an region that lacks it. read more
