We decided to take a little drive to Boulder, grab a pizza and find an overlook to chow down and take in the scenery. I wasn't familiar with Boulder since I just moved here and found a few noteworthy pizza places and finally decided on Barchetta because the pizza pictures were amazing. We decided on the Bee Thousand Pizza and the combo of sweet and heat was perfect. We pulled in and there were pickup parking spots in front of the restaurant. I understand the need to put salt on pizza sauce etc... but you are now competing with Audrey Jane's as the saltiest pizza in town. Please address this. O.M.G. Best pizza I've ever had. We had the Barchetta Red and Bee Thousand, to die for. The undertones on the crooost were 10/5 madones! The beverage dispensing system is genius. Chef Jesse and the team's hospitality are above and beyond. The vibe is beyond cool and I can easily say that this is my new favorite spot in Boulder. Beer and wine is self serve from a tap system... be careful it is a fast pour! When you place your order they take your credit card and give you a swipe card for your self serve and you place your card in a box with varying options for a tip. Barchetta must be the only pizza option in town or locals just really love mediocre pizza, for this place to have such high ratings. We paid around $28 for a thin crust margherita pizza with nothing else on it. The flavors were fine, however the crust is so thin it got soggy very quickly. The Queen - margherita redux pizza is so fresh and light, and the garlic really shines through to balance it out. It didn't need the mushrooms I added, it was just one of those days. Barchetta was one of the most pleasant casual dining experiences I've had! I called ahead to see if there was outside seating and if I could bring my dog - the woman on the line gave an excited affirmative to both questions. Upon arrival, the service was friendly and helpful. Added bonus - my partner and I quickly befriended the couple at the table beside us. We exchanged bike routes and pizza suggestions. The pizza itself was well worth the money and much larger than the 14" they claimed. We had the Rallier and Bianco - both were delicious. If I had to pick one, I would get the Bianco but add the sausage that's on the Rallier. The only improvement would be a better ranch dressing recipe - if you love dill, you'll like the ranch but it was a little overpowering for me. Highly recommend this place! read more

This place has a very anti-customer business model. You get a card that you use to pay for drinks by the ounce which you pour yourselves (you pay for food separately at a counter with your credit card). At the end of your stay you have to put your beverage card in a box that will add a 15%, 20%, or 25% tip to your drink bill (if you leave with the card it automatically tips 20%). Essentially you have to pour all your drinks yourself AND you have to tip an imaginary employee. They don't even give you the option to not tip, even though you did ALL the work. Also, if there is someone who isn't used to pouring their own beer from a tap (which they probably won't be if they haven't worked in restaurants) then they also will likely waste, and pay for, lots of extra beer due to pouring incorrectly. They get 1 star back for having a couple impressive beers in their small selection. read more
