I ordered the classic breakfast which comes with toasted French bread, potatoes, 2 eggs done in the style of your choice, bacon and sausage. I substituted a steak for the sausage. My steak was cooked perfectly, medium. Eggs were over medium. The bread was slightly more charred than I would have liked but it still tasted delicious when u made my mini egg sandwich. Service was fine! They were helpful, speedy, and came to the table the right amount of times. All in all, happy with my choice of breakfast spot and I will be coming back.

It was so fun and we gave a ton of tips happily. Our food was awesome, extremely tasty. Highly recommend the French toast, mushroom omelette, and endless mimosas. We dined as a group of four and enjoyed the STEAK AU POIVRE, the STEAMED MUSSELS, the CHILLED PRAWN SALAD, STEAK TARTARE, RICOTTA GNOCCHI, CHICKEN A LA CRÈME, and PALETTE DE PORC. The PALETTE DE PORC and the RICOTTA GNOCCHI were the true winners. The STEAMED MUSSELS were amazing and would have been even better with more carbs to soak up the delicious juice after. It felt almost criminal leaving that in the bowl. Excellent meal and many thanks to the wait and kitchen staff for a beautiful experience!

My first visit here and it did not wow me. Billed as an upscale French Bistro concept, it did not…read moreseem to really hit anything particularly French except that it used a lot of French terms on the menu. I saw things like Chicken Liver Tartine, Escargot, Steak Frites, French Onion Soup, etc. Seemed promising based on the menu. What I found was a kitchen that seemed to cover up the main ingredient with over seasoning or a combination of flavors that actually covered up the star ingredients. Two examples of this were the Tartine and the Escargot. Both served on a thick half slice of country bread. In the case of the Chicken Liver Tartine, it had so much fruity sweetness to it that it ate a bit like a dessert. The schmear of chicken liver pate' atop the bread was so heavily covered by the fruity jam sweetness of the other combined ingredients that it may as well have been left off. The same was true for the Escargot. On top of a thick half slice of same country bread and topped with a vinaigrette parsley salad that pretty much overwhelmed anything. The snails were definitely in the background when they should have been the star of the show. Those 2 items kind of set the flavor profile for the evening. It struck me that a Francophile purist would be very unhappy with what was turned out. But perhaps that is what Therese' is aiming for...The semi-informed crowd that wants to dabble in interesting ingredients (like liver or snails) but doesn't really want to dwell on what they are eating. Cover it up with healthy doses of sugar or acid and voila, you can say you ate and liked liver or snails. It wasn't terrible. It just wasn't French. Which is to say that it was not what I was expecting. To be fair, that was my first time there and I will give the another go as there were many other items on the menu that might be much more authentic. I do like that the parking there is easy, they take reservations, and they have a reasonable corkage policy of $25. The wine list was not extensive so it is a great spot to bring in your own something that you know you want to drink with your meal. French bistro food is so good on its own in my opinion that it doesn't really need to be churched up and marketed as upscale. That is like trying to put gold flakes on an In N Out Double Double. I am pretty sure that in 500 years of French culinary excellence, if there was a way for them to have improved upon their bistro classics, they would have already done it.

Here's a rundown of our amazing meal: Starters: The Kanpachi CRUDO, POMMES DAUPHINES (with amazing gruyère dipping sauce) and Chilled GREEN GAZPACHO (they split this for us since it's a soup) were all fantastic. Entrees: The Walleye was great and we really enjoyed the AMERICAN WAGYU STEAK butchers cut. They all had great and unique flavors. Desserts: The server recommended the peach cobbler and we received a delicious complimentary sundae since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Cocktails: I really enjoyed the Paper Plane since I like tequila and my husband liked his Old Fashion. The Spritz was also refreshing. The server did a great job pacing everything, and was knowledgeable with the menu and the waitstaff was polite and attentive. We reserved a table outside since it was a nice summer day and enjoyed our little spot along the restaurant. Other tips: We found free parking in the lot at the building at 5:00. Make reservations several weeks in advance if you want a table since this place is super popular. The location used to be the Revival restaurant if you are familiar with the area or the previous restaurant. We would definitely dine here again and it's one of my favorite restaurants now. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

However, Bûcheron, located in Kingfield, one of the most down-to-earth neighborhoods in Minneapolis, deserved all its accolades. We grabbed two seats at the small bar, and I was immediately wary. The woman behind the bar, while professional, was ice cold. She warmed up later, but what registered from her affect was that we weren't worthy of dining in this esteemed restaurant. It was off-putting, but she was friendlier later in the evening. I'm old, so that might be it too. Many younger people in the Twin Cities don't like old men. Bûcheron's space is small and homey, tying in well with the Kingfield neighborhood. It's cozy and unpretentious. I liked that. The food was scrumptious. Everything tasted wonderfully, and there wasn't even one miss. The menu changes constantly, so listing the dishes might be moot. However, the Pomme Dauphines, gazpacho soup, halibut, and sticky toffee cake made us sigh with pleasure. On a Monday night, the place was packed, but it empties early. That's typical in the Twin Cities. Late dining is not in vogue. However, Bûcheron is popular, so make reservations early. For the 12 months that we have lived in the Twin Cities, Bûcheron and Myrial provided our best meals. Bravo and Brava! Both were priced fairly, providing bang for your buck. I don't need cheap, but I yearn for great. Bûcheron provided great.

The patio is very nice with a good view of the river and skyline. Service is very good. I had a nice Turkey Club sandwich that was stuffed with a lot of turkey despite being noted as a "Junior Club" on the menu. The leftover half made for a good lunch the next day. The accompanying chips, which I assume are made in house, were good, if not a bit too aggressively seasoned. My wife had the Croque Monsieur, which she liked but said it wasn't the best one she's had and she wished it was available as a Croque Madame with a fried egg on top. It looked good, and she's tough to please when it comes to this dish as she's always compares them to the ones she's had in Paris. Definitely a place we'd come back to.
