This was one of those little hidden gems that you find and it was good one. Talking to some of the other patrons they mentioned that it used to be a members only lounge. It's a cool small area with its own bar and a couple of padded high top chair. Very old school with an upscale twist. The whole concept was great with the dim lights. Drinks were good and it's park of the other bar but in its own private room in the back. Hence a members lounge back in the days. It's a cool spot and worth checking out.

An amazing whiskey bar located inside of Seven Grand. It is not hard to find as it has a sign next to the door. You press the button and someone from inside will open the door. It is best to make a reservation as there's limited space inside and cannot accommodate big parties without prior requests. It is best to visit in a party of 2. They do have indoor and patio seating similar to how it is set up in Seven Grand. They have a wide variety of Japanese Whiskeys and ask for recommendation if you are up for trying out something new. The staff are amazing and you will be well served: they make great drinks, give good recommendations and super friendly. An amazingly chill place to be after a long day at work. You can get a bottle and have them store it for you for your next visits. It was also fun to read all the creative name tags on the bottles.

Now this is an older comment. I know things have changed since Oct of 2024 but I am so late to post this. I loved the tasting experience where Peter brought out the pours and bottles and discussed what everything involved. Peter is the main reason I came back much more than originally planned. Peter is literally my favorite thing about Bar Jackalope. It was the most intimate and epic tasting I have ever had. I had already come in with pours and he was very efficient. Then after we finished the first round I asked him to bring me pours based on our first ones and he was spot on. He by far is the best thing at Bar Jackalope!!! If Bar Jackalope was still setup this way it is a 5 star experience every time!!!

A very subtle place, a whiskey bar that you wouldn't expect to be in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It was quite the escape, as the calming music in a snug space gave the energy for tasting different kinds of whiskey. The service was simply incredible, as each drink was presented with the history that made the drink. The prices were unmatched, as you can find anything you'd like to have, varying the age, quality, and taste preference, all at a price that matches the drink. There isn't a drink I wouldn't recommend and this speakeasy serves as a place where I would take a friend or two enjoy a few drinks and discourse.

What can I say! This will forever be my favorite place, as I got engaged here on 11/23/2022 at 11:48p. After a nice pre-birthday dinner in Burbank (my bday was the next day- on Thanksgiving), my boyfriend and I didn't want to end the night so early, so I yelped "lounges" and decided to go with Seven Grand/Bar Jackalope (which I actually had bookmarked for some time because I love a good ol' Old Fashion"). When we arrived to Seven Grand and told the door attendant that it was our first time, he recommended that we check out Bar Jackalope. Although you need reservations, since it was the night before Thanksgiving he said we should be fine. So we headed upstairs to the "bar" . It was a cool vibe with a band playing, but my honey and I wanted a more intimate ambiance so we knocked on the door to enter Bar Jackalope, and inside we went. I forgot the young lady's name who thoroughly talked about the different whiskeys and the various tastings they offered, but she was very attentive. My honey and I decided to just sip on regular Old Fashions as opposed to doing the whiskey tasting. I love the vibe of speakeasies. Dim, romantic, and intimate. I will definitely be back to do the whiskey tasting.

My friend took us to a surprise! A hidden gem. The speakeasy area is extremely hard to get into and took us planning in advance. You're welcomed by chill and relaxed ambiance and professional staff. We got the tasting menu and wow..I was blown away by the quality of the whiskey they presented to us. I'd like to note the Yamazaki..extremely rare and hard to find. They are extremely knowledgeable as a noob myself don't know much about whiskey! It was a great experience and I want to go back again so badly..highly recommend!

If you love Whisky or Whiskey then this is your spot to visit. Best bet is to get yourself flight sizes of the numerous bottles they have. Our bartender knew the selection well and everything felt so fancy. I love how hidden this spot is. You surely could miss it when visiting the bar it is located in. One of the reasons why I love visiting speakeasy bars.

This place is easy to miss, as it's located inside of Seven Grand. The bottom level (bar) used to be great prelude before you get upstairs to Bar Jackalope, but they recently closed the bottom portion down. To get to Bar Jackalope, head upstairs, pass the pool tables and old school bar scene, and press the doorbell on your right (once you see the liquor cabinets). Super quaint and sexy speakeasy, it's the perfect spot for conversation, great whiskey, and cigar. It's not that cold outside neither, as they have heaters.

This is one of those local gems probably only locals know about! It's located inside of the Seven Grand Bar with the entrance door near the bathroom in the back. This place is pretty much RSVP only and you likely have to book a week or more advance especially if you have a larger party. There's total probably less then 16 total seats with only 4 main tables indoors and some outdoors for cigar smokers. The decor is super old school speakeasy with dark wooden paneling everywhere in a dim candle lit room. Yeah they only open super late at night from like 7pm-2am daily. The checkin process is pretty neat. You press the call button on the door and someone will open it for you. Yes they will confirm your RSVP before letting you in. They do take walkin's if space permit but super rare except maybe slow weekdays. If you're NOT a whiskey/Scotch drinker this isn't the place for you! The only cocktail they have here is a whiskey highball. If you want anything non whiskey based you're better off just going to the Seven Grand Bar outside. The menu literally has whiskey/scotch from the entire world with many being rare/reserves. The price range from about $5-100+ a pour. Each pour is about 1/2-1oz tasting. If you have no idea about your preferred taste profile you can ask your waiter for suggestions. Think of this like a wine tasting with a whiskey sommelier at your service. They will ask for your desired price point also to keep you on budget. Typically a tasting flight is 5 pours but you can try as many as you like, and you can afford. They do have a very small snack menu on the very last page with a few small bites ranging from cured Spanish meats, nuts, and chocolates. They do also offer locker service here if you want to buy a bottle and store it there for future visits. The staff is super friendly and recommendations are usually always on point! It's definitely a learning and great experience as you taste through all the different types of whiskey and casting methods. We will definitely be back again for more lessons and tastings!

Great bourbon, classy atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff! I made reservations since the last time I went to Seven Grand, I wasn't able to get in. The name and theme are Japanese, but they have an extensive list of premium bourbons and other types of non-Japanese whiskey. My impression is that Bar Jackalope is where Seven Grand's allocated (fancy) bottles go. Still, you can have a great time here even if you don't know much about whiskey (as long as you like it). Our server/bartender/whatever you'd call him (I think his name was Peter) went above and beyond assisting us. He was really attentive, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about whiskey. As soon as he mentioned that GTS and Eagle Rare come from the same Buffalo Trace mash bill (#1), I was impressed. He also spent time with us (and other tables) talking, joking, making recommendations, and giving anecdotes. For pricing and pours, you have three options: a "flight" price for 2/3rds of an ounce, a full 2oz pour, and the 2oz pour of your choice in an old fashioned, Manhattan, or highball. You pay the 2oz-pour price for the cocktail version (at least, that's how it worked for the old fashioned). The flight price is proportional to the full-pour price, so there's no incentive to choose one or the other. You CAN get just one "flight"-sized pour; there's no minimum number of 2/3rd-ounce pours to qualify for a flight. Also, some whiskeys did not have a full-pour option--and others (including Blanton's SFTB) weren't on the menu at all. 2/3rds of an ounce was more than enough to feel satisfied trying some of my bucket-list bourbons. They have enough heavily allocated bourbons that I'm definitely coming back. In addition to George T Stagg, they had Eagle Rare 17, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, Pappy 20, King of Kentucky, Elijah Craig 18... You get the idea. The Eagle Rare 10 old fashioned was good, but if you're invested enough in whiskey to come here for an allocated pour, you probably already make old fashioneds the way you want at home.

From fun nights out, special occasions, whiskey tastings, exploring the speakeasy... playing some pool, enjoying libations, taking in live music, perfect outings on the patio, the occasional cigar. So many great memories and experiences created here including some awesome date days with my other half. If stopping in for the first time you'll discover S.G. on 7th and Grand Avenue with a door person usually always at the bottom of the staircase just outside of the restaurant/cocktail bar Zaya (which has been many incarnations including Bar CDMX, V and Mas Malo). Provide them with a valid ID, as anybody over 21 should have a valid form of identification on them at all times, not just for driving or access to 21+ events or establishments, but for safety. And Seven Grand cares about everyone and their safety. They value their staff as much as their customers. And it shows in every way from thoughtful space in all directions, great pool tables, a whiskey, bourbon and scotch curated cocktail menu, even some good brew/beer. Awesome hallways with cabinet lockers, the cleanest restrooms, great dim dark warm lighting, fun fixtures and true DTLA vibes that feel old timey yet also very modern. Seven Grand is open to all and all are welcome. Stellar daily happy hour 4pm to 8pm. I love a good $10 Toki Highball at 5pm, but you can't go wrong with their classic old fashion also. All the bartenders are incredible as well as personable. S Grand is open every day from 4pm until 2am. Loads of lots close by as well as the Metro station at 7th and Metro. Though the trains currently stop just a little after midnight. Rideshare is also your friend, which now includes Waymo in the area. Discover Seven Grand also in San Diego, Austin or Denver. If planning an event you inquire with Stephen via email for personal parties, events with a budget and even corporate parties. They're very accommodating with a good amount of notice. When we had my boyfriend's birthday here they reserved a table for us and set us up with everything we needed. Thinking of having my next birthday here myself both at Seven Grand and Bar Jackalope (their hidden speakeasy). Support your awesome LA Whiskey Bar!

The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

It's sexy, sleek, and exudes a timeless elegance. The wood paneled walls, carved pillars, ornate ceiling, and granite bar with curved angels keeping watch add to the luxurious ambiance and nostalgic charm. (Mad Men fans will recognize this place.) Its grand design was inspired by Queen Isabella's royal hall. You can't help but feel like royalty while enjoying a cocktail here. Bartender Nina is an absolute sweetheart. You'll find her here during the day. In the evenings, Rommel is behind the bar. He is very skilled at his craft - making expertly crafted cocktails while providing white glove service. I enjoyed the sophisticated way he poured my martini. The Sidecar was one of the best, the martini was ice cold & silky smooth, and the Old Fashioned was pure perfection. On our first visit, my friend & I shared the Avocado Fries. They were delish. I'm looking forward to coming back. *Live music every second & last Saturday 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.

One of my absolute favorites on the menu is the potato taquitos, which of course I had to order. They never disappoint. I also tried the cauliflower for the first time and was pleasantly surprised... super flavorful and definitely something I'd order again. The biscuits with the sweet butter are ALWAYS a must for me, and my partner got the nachos which were also really good. Beyond the food, the atmosphere here is what keeps bringing me back. The staff is always amazing, welcoming, and very attentive. Every time I come, there always seems to be a fun private party or guest-hosted event happening, which adds such a nice energy to the space. Their outdoor patio is honestly one of my favorite parts... it's beautiful, fresh, spacious, and just such a perfect place to sit and relax, especially in the evening. Definitely one of my favorite spots in LA.

I had called the bar and had asked them if a reservation for that size was required and they said no. Okay, great. My bf and I show up as the first ones to try to claim a table, upon entering we speak to the hostess who informs us there is a large party that night that has already claimed/reserved a lot of the tables in the back and that we are welcomed to hang at the bar and wait for other tables to open up. Luckily there was one table inside that sat about 4 comfortably which we ended up claiming, but as more and more people arrived we didn't really have the space needed. We (obnoxiously) tried to see if we could swoop an unreserved table in the back but upon trying to do so we were bopped out by the servers. By this time the host had put our names down for larger tables in the patio so it was just a matter of time for them to seat us. Eventually after being ushers around multiple times, they got us a table large enough to seat everyone. I appreciated that they were willing to work with us, I wished however that when I had pre called to set this up they would have said, reserving a table would have been the better of the two choices. I ended up tipping the hostess $20 because she was so kind, even when our party was bopping from table to table and being asked to move by staff LOL. I had their NA michelada which was pretty good considering it was NA. My boyfriend had two of their old fashioned drinks.. he likes a classic old fashioned but they don't really offer that. He wasn't a fan, and after trying 2/4 types they offered he ended up switching to beer and whatever other drinks his/my friends were giving him. Safe to say he got sufficiently drunk that night lol we also ordered fries, cauliflower and quesadillas for the table to split. All decent bar food. Service was great, drinks were decent, and the company was the best part. Given this was located in DTLA since some of our friends were driving out from the 626 and the SFV, not sure we would be back since we are located in the west side.

This is a hidden gem and I wanted to share it with everyone. We have a certain table. You can smoke outside if you want to, sometimes recommending hidden gems is not always the best thing because it draws in so many more people I would love to keep this place to myself, but it's too good not to share if you're in the LA area I totally Recommend. Both drinks were expertly crafted, perfectly balanced, and a delight on the palate. Like I would opt to attend a concert in the Disney Concert Hall before a Corrido, 100% percent of the time. Nevertheless, I still feel a connection to Mexican culture that endures. This connection, I felt was respected, when I saw Coco. I know, I know, Coco was an animated project that literally gave caricature form to Mexican traditions. In doing so, however, it gave fresh vibrancy with color and detail, cultural songs that are not tired, and a story that centralized the the spirit of Mexican lore with respectable flare. In contrast, Las Perlas had aspects that, in my opinion, caricaturized Hispanic culture. So let us start the review by exploring the contrast of what seemed fresh and what seem stale, at least in one Yelpers opinion. What has withstood the test of time, is the tequila selection and how it is displayed in a shelf. All the bottles are stacked by size, color, and together say- this is the house that tequila build, sample different kinds but just use some caution or else your face might know the pound of the floor. I also noticed (and clipped) a picture of a ladder that can be used to climb to get the bottles from the top. So literally effort and climb is required to reach the top shelf booze of the place. The focal point of the tequila shelf was an image of the Virgin Mary. For me, this is where the situation becomes a bit more complex but not necesirarily in a cool way. The Virgin Mary is the patron saint of Mexico, and on her birthday celebrations and pilgrimages abound to celebrate her life. I have been to LA's Cathedral and her famous and she is celebrated by lights that form into red roses, and by patrons who go seeking her favor by reverence. Using her image to show that she is blessing tequilas or their pure intent seems to minimize or twist her purpose. Like do people really want connect the reverence owed to the mother of a deity to an item that is used to lubricate a party? Maybe. I have heard that Dyonosus- Greek God of Wine-- sponsored some great parties through libations. I know that I might have dived deep into my thoughts here but what was one stylish and novel can now be considered un-modern. On another quick example, we see Campesinos (field workers) tend to the leafs that give tequila to the world. These workers were doing back breaking labor, one can feel the heat and soreness of the workers just by seeing the mural. And in the clip two girls are using their phone, to keep up with modern demands--- whether that be posting, influencing or moving stock funds around. Thus, in my opinion, the picture of laborers tending fields is one that should be balanced as Mexican's should no longer just be shown as braceros and laborers, even in this bar. I came around 9 and this bar was sort of crowded, the party was starting to build. I sat and drank their La Fresa Loca drink, with vodka instead of tequila. Special nod to their menu for being loteria-tablet-like. The drink was delicious, refreshing, and it made me feel like I was drinking a fun and fruity cocktail. I paid for two in advance then closed my card. They allowed for that. As soon as I finished one, I could order a new one. That was kind of neat, and I never had tried the strategy before. It helped me get my drinks in before the crowd accumulated. This is definitely a party spot, and I can see how it hits hard later in the evening. If you are the type of person that gets distracted with decorations and their place and message in modern times, like me, one might over think. But if one just wants to party hard with tequila and some tacos, and ladies, and gents, then this place handles.

We were all done eating before my friend's food came Appetizers came the same time at the food. They called this extremely white naan bread, garlic bread. But It's not. One friend ordered garlic bread, and garlic bread came with my meatballs. So by the time the third person ordered some, we let her know that she didn't need it because we had several pieces left over plus it wasn't good. When the waitress came with the bread, we told her we didn't want it and she told us that she couldn't return it because it was already sent out and we tried to return it before even touching it. I'm assuming they were offended by this because at the age of 48, and after visiting five continents and countless countries I've never NOT been able to return something that I didn't want at a restaurant. Not even at Sizzler or Hometown buffet. The waitress came back without the bread in her hand and said that we couldn't return it. (So why didn't you bring us the bread back?) She was pretty adamant herself and then the manager Ammie came and reiterated the same thing. I asked if she would reconsider because we're giving her a great deal of business tonight (we are a party of 11, we've each ordered at least two drinks, several appetizers each plus our meals). Ammie said she would take half off. Which was whopping $4 dollars! Low class and Petty. In addition, Our group consists of a few professional singers and musicians. So I say this from a well-informed place, the band was subpar. They seemed pretty young and they played everything super fast. No real engagement or connection with the audience. I had My Cousin's 40th here about a year ago and there was a gentleman hosting and singing who was amazing. But he probably charged adult prices, which is why we don't see him here anymore. I 'll never be back.
