I've seen this place on lists many times before so I was excited to finally check it out. We were in the area so we popped in for a drink and small bite. When you walk in, there's a long bar along the side, plenty of bar seating and some half-booth seating on the other side. Big space inside but it also wasn't too busy when we came in, it started filling up though as the evening got later. I went with their pepperoncini martini and my bf got the pimms the word cocktail. Mine was so unique! I love a martini, and I love pepperoncinis and this was truly a marriage of both. I don't think I could have too many of these in a row bc the flavor is so strong but it's a beautiful cocktail to try out if you like those flavors. The Pimms the word was also good too, it's very ginger forward. We decided to order some food too. We got the single burger without the cheese and the barbecued chicken thighs. The burger looked quite small on the plate so it's definitely not a monstrous burger. It was good but weren't sure it was worth the high praise, but maybe it relies on the cheese since it's a pretty small burger? The chicken thighs were tasty and cooked well. I appreciate that the prices aren't skyrocket high here, especially for custom specialty cocktails. The prices are reasonable for what you get. After hanging out with some friends, my partner and I decided to stop by ERB for a bite to eat... and honestly it reminded me why I love this place so much. One of my absolute favorites on the menu is the potato taquitos, which of course I had to order. They never disappoint. I also tried the cauliflower for the first time and was pleasantly surprised... super flavorful and definitely something I'd order again. The biscuits with the sweet butter are ALWAYS a must for me, and my partner got the nachos which were also really good. Beyond the food, the atmosphere here is what keeps bringing me back. The staff is always amazing, welcoming, and very attentive. Every time I come, there always seems to be a fun private party or guest-hosted event happening, which adds such a nice energy to the space. Their outdoor patio is honestly one of my favorite parts... it's beautiful, fresh, spacious, and just such a perfect place to sit and relax, especially in the evening. I set up a birthday celebration for my birthday of about 15ish people or so. His birthday is towards the end of Jan. I had called the bar and had asked them if a reservation for that size was required and they said no. Okay, great. My bf and I show up as the first ones to try to claim a table, upon entering we speak to the hostess who informs us there is a large party that night that has already claimed/reserved a lot of the tables in the back and that we are welcomed to hang at the bar and wait for other tables to open up. Luckily there was one table inside that sat about 4 comfortably which we ended up claiming, but as more and more people arrived we didn't really have the space needed. We (obnoxiously) tried to see if we could swoop an unreserved table in the back but upon trying to do so we were bopped out by the servers. By this time the host had put our names down for larger tables in the patio so it was just a matter of time for them to seat us. Eventually after being ushers around multiple times, they got us a table large enough to seat everyone. I appreciated that they were willing to work with us, I wished however that when I had pre called to set this up they would have said, reserving a table would have been the better of the two choices. I ended up tipping the hostess $20 because she was so kind, even when our party was bopping from table to table and being asked to move by staff LOL. I had their NA michelada which was pretty good considering it was NA. My boyfriend had two of their old fashioned drinks.. he likes a classic old fashioned but they don't really offer that. He wasn't a fan, and after trying 2/4 types they offered he ended up switching to beer and whatever other drinks his/my friends were giving him. Safe to say he got sufficiently drunk that night lol we also ordered fries, cauliflower and quesadillas for the table to split. All decent bar food. Service was great, drinks were decent, and the company was the best part. Given this was located in DTLA since some of our friends were driving out from the 626 and the SFV, not sure we would be back since we are located in the west side. read more

It's not just the great cocktails they pour and it's not the insanely delicious burger that make this spot special it's the fact you're there that makes this place special. The staff have a whiff of attitude with a side of great service. The menu is fun and when you can't decide on a beverage a coup of bubbles does the trick. Be sure to walk straight to the back and enjoy their shaded patio area. There's plenty of picnic benches, a nice breeze from the trees, and a dj. The bartender was friendly and explained the cocktails to us. The two servers in the patio area were quick to take orders and bring out the food although there was a glass of wine charged on our tab that we didn't order. I've dined here several times and it's no surprise why I keep coming back. The service is exceptional, the ambiance is beautiful and it's always a vibe. I decided to bring my date here since he's from SF and hasn't explored dtla much. We ordered drinks and a few different menu items. To start, I ordered the burger and he ordered the patty melt. He was shocked at how simple but, delicious the melt was. We also ordered the biscuits and butter and the chicken tinga quesadilla. I personally loved the tinga! A must try. I finally made it to ERB. I've only heard about it for forever and I've only worked close by for a few years now. I can finally check this place off my list. For starters, parking. Parking lot. It's metered, meaning paid but this eliminates you needing to drive around looking for street parking. Which, there was a bunch too. At least there was when I stopped by. I parked in the lot. I also made reservations. For the patio. But first you walk into the bar area. It's dark and intimate. Walk past the bar through the hall to the outdoor patio. It's open air and pretty big. Good for groups. Picnic table set ups. Pretty casual and laid back vibe. Service was great. There was a team of two who handled everything from start to finish. Seating to settling the bill. Plates and utensils cleared. Refills without asking. Regular check ins (I mention this because I chose to sit apart from where the crowd chose to sit). And both friendly and nice. Drinks were great. Don't go in expecting gourmet food and you'll be ok like I felt the food was. See pics. On a return visit, I'd have all the dishes again. These were off the HH menu. To sum it up, I liked this place. This was a last min stop for me and a first at that. Luckily walked in at the right time for HH! I got the smashburger with fries and honestly it was one of the best smashburgers I had in a while! My side of the table shared a variety of dishes that kept us filled: Chicken Quesadilla, Kennebec French Fries, and Beef Nachos. All of these items were enough and delicious. My favorite of the night was probably the nachos from how much they LOADED on the items especially the guac. I used some of those to add onto my quesadilla as well. Hosted a birthday party here recently -- reserved the back patio easily ahead of time with no down payment or minimum necessary. Love that they made it very convenient for everyone to just pay for their own drinks without having to go to the bar. Servers came back every 5-10 minutes to see if anyone needed drinks or anything. I have heard so many wonderful things about Royce Bar, including that it has one of the best burgers in LA. And based on this fact alone, it was on my to-do list. Well, not my to-do list because going here was not a chore to-do, so it was more on my to-enjoy-list, which are items that I must experience in the name of joy! And, here is the story of how I ended up check-marking this item of my favorite list, like I had destiny's support on the matter. On a night when I was exploring LA's famed Art District, I saw a nearby bar that had plenty of pool tables, and had a fun game night kind of vibe. My friend Conrad, loves to play pool so I made a mental note to take him here. I also made a mental note to visit the nearby BAR that had walls that seemed to have being decorated by Basquiat or Haring, or another artist who compelled beauty unto walls with graffiti cans and bold figures. When Conrad and I approached the bar, we asked the security guard which bar was this? The security guard explained that it was Royce Bar or ERB. I was dumbfounded because I felt like I had been selected by the universe to find a bar that I was looking for, on a night when I was not. It was the feeling in the moment. Looking far away, at the moment, I realize I was just attracted to the novel art work of the walls, and the bar happened to be of acclaim. I know I did not happen upon a dime that granted unlimited wishes, but, still in the moment I felt the glee of discovery, and I rather be prone to feeling bursts of unregulated joy at small discoveries that being the type of person that feels flat when he sees a movie star at their local grocery store. As soon as we went in we ordered the burger. We were not super hungry but we can get a nosh, especially one that I was looking to enjoying one day. Not knowing much of the burger, I tried it, and I was not overwhelmed with joy. The burger was good but basic. I was in love with the crispy edges of the meat. As I wrote and remember those edges, my mouth watered a bit. But other than that, the burger was just ok. I would no go there again for the burger, but I would go back to give the bar an honest try. When I went there, I did not sip a drink, but I did walk around to enjoy its fancy front, and its garden like patio. On a final note of the burger, when we went outside the security guard asked which burger was better this one or in-n-out? I know he did not mean to but by comparing this burger to the one of in-n-out, he lowered the value of the Royce burger. I would give the edge to the Royce burger, cause of the edges, and the sweet pickles that accompany it, but, again, the burger was available and this grand spot, and that is why you should get it. The artistic style of the walls was present inside the bar as well. The outside print is like graffiti, like I explained above, and so was the interior. The difference is that the outside colors were pop yellow and blue, and gave me a bit of Aztec vibes. I can be wrong but the sun as it was drawn was like I sun I have seen, when I have seen Aztec suns in the past, like on television shows, even cartoons. The inside aesthetics lacked the pop of the blue and yellow, but still had a different version of the sun. It did not read as Aztec sun, the one inside, it read more like if the sun had come to earth during the night, and had adopted an urban aesthetic, I can see how the sun at night wears a cool hoodie in the streets because of this artwork. The patio was grand! it was decorated for Halloween, not in like a super obvious way, but more in a stylistic way that made you feel that spooky season was upon us, but this decor did not need attention for days. I found the lights covered in black shawls particularly fun because I imagined that they were honoring the death by keeping the lights covered so they may continue to rest in peace. I also enjoyed the dolls, all around the patio. They could have been haunted, I hope not, I do not need an Anabelle reel upon my life. There was a creepy baby doll, standing on its hand, with a wide creepy grin. So maybe we have grotesque dolls wrong--- they looked creepy but are just enjoying themselves, kind of like the folks from Monster Inc. The green ivy (maybe not ivy) was lush and covered parts of walls. That is what made me feel like I had entered an enchanted garden, and I can imagine drinking a refreshing cocktail amongst the Ivy, completing the concept of swaying and sipping in a garden made for sophisticated trolls. The tree would have added to this vibe, except that it was covered with webs. The bar has a neon sign that reads "My that's Better." And that is a wonderful sign to hang on a bar. Why? Because it makes me believe that this bar will always get a drink right. If a bartender does not do well in the first time, then they will try again, and again, until someone says My that's better. read more

Visited this location for the first time due to a friends birthday celebration in the outdoor patio. He had 40 guests and ordered a number lite bites for his guest including mini burgers. Guests had the freedom to order their adult beverage of choice directly with the servers relieving the financial pressure from the birthday host. The back patio has several other large parties but the picnic tables and spacing provided enough space between the variety of parties to not feel submersed in others conversations unexpectedly as well as the ability to chat and nosh on bites. I appreciated their list of non alcoholic mocktails as well as the water service they provide for the birthday boy's guest. Came here for a Christmas party with my wife, was treated horribly by a server at the outside patio. We sat down at the party a few minutes late and she came to check in on the table. My wife had just grabbed a menu and asked if she could take a look for a second, so I asked lean over her shoulder and asked if I could just get any hef or stout at which point she told me to wait my turn. I went on to explain that the woman she was talking to was my wife and though she was harsh and abrupt I didn't think much of it, when the server responded "well, I don't know you"... was kind of taken aback. From there, when one of the members of our party asked about an order they had placed earlier on the night that had not yet arrived she commenced to argue that they had just placed the order and that she had no idea. Trendy little bar in the Arts District. The huge orange door against a black building, stands out and immediately catches your eyes. The door opens up to a really bright space. Neon sign on the wall and lit glass shelves add to the ambiance. Came into Everson Royce for the first time with a couple friends for pre Dodgers game eats and libations. Service was fast and friendly. Bartenders were helpful with suggestions. The single burger was quite the tasy. Can't beat a juicy, well seasoned patty. And that dijonaise *chef's kiss. This place has is such a vibe! Food: 5/5 We ordered the double burger, nachos, Boozy Arnold Palmer, and "l am broke" (vodka soda). The food was delicious! The burger was juicy and the cheese was perfectly melty. The nachos were loaded, however, I wish they had more chips because the chip to topping ratio was off. It was delicious nonetheless. This is located in the Arts District, so parking could be a challenge or you can go for their valet parking, which was $10. I was able to find street parking around the corner after a brief look. For seating, it was nice that they have inside and outdoor seat. The outdoor area had heating lamps. We needed to sit outside briefly before moved inside once tables cleared up. However, inside was definitely more noisy. In regard to drinks, I actually don't drink alcohol. I pleased to discover their menu had non-alcoholic options. This included an IPA. I was pleasantly surprised to find the same taste. For food, our party got a small side of nachos. Overall, service was very quick and consistent. The staffs came often to check up on our table. Problem is, you need to get the good burger on the days they serve it, we got a bad burger on their bad day last night and goes like this...double patty burger came out as well done as could be, couldn't eat it...as much as I tried! I definitely liked this venue because they have plenty of seating and a nice shaded outdoor seating space in the back. Their drinks and food options were relatively good. First I got the Yo La Tengo drink which has mezcal in it, overall I think I enjoyed this drink, except there was a weird aftertaste I didn't really like (thinking it may have been from the mezcal which I haven't had a ton before). Next we had the fries and nachos. First with the fries it was well fried however a lot of the fries were extremely short in length, which we brought up with our waiter and they mentioned it's because they use a particularly small type of potato. They were kind enough to bring out a complimentary basket of fries to make up for it, but still half the basket was filled with the smaller fries. The nachos on the other hand tasted really good, except for the soggy end. There was a lot of salsa juice which made all the chips super soggy at the bottom. Found this gem in the arts district of LA. First they have valet plus street parking. The menus is solid, the drinks are fabulous and the outside patio is where the fun begins. Every server was prompt and well mannered. The hamburger is great, with the Parmesan garlic fries, "chefs kiss". We also had the nachos and they didn't disappoint. This bar is found unexpectedly in a street corner in DTLA with a rather discreet entrance, but the vibe inside and out on the patio is really fun. Their happy hour deals are also really good, so we ordered the watermelon margarita which was YUM and the seville orange spritz. The drinks were really good but really light.
