We came to The Obscure for a friend's birthday and had such a fantastic night. This is definitely…read moremore of an experience than just going out for drinks. The atmosphere is immersive, theatrical, moody, and every nook and cranny of this place is beautifully detailed. Our group embraced the requested all-black dress code, and I was a little disappointed that some other guests didn't play along. When a place puts this much effort into creating a particular world, dressing the part really does make the experience more fun. The spirits themselves were excellent. We tasted vodka, whiskey, and rum, and all three were remarkably smooth, interesting, and clearly very high quality. I loved that the tasting was guided rather than just having drinks dropped in front of us. The storytelling and presentation made us pay attention to what we were actually tasting and gave the evening a nice sense of progression. We also happened to be there while comic artist Matt Harley of Marvel fame was sketching, which felt perfectly suited to the setting and made an already unusual night even more memorable. The space is gorgeous: candlelight, artwork, strange little details everywhere, dramatic lighting, beautiful glassware, and even the outdoor fire element. There's so much to look at that you feel like you're discovering something new every time you turn around. Our whole group LOVES Halloween, so this felt like the absolute perfect way to kick off spooky season. It has exactly the kind of dark, mysterious, slightly magical atmosphere we were hoping for without feeling cheesy or gimmicky. We loved the rum so much that we ended up buying a bottle, which also granted us Level 1 membership, so this definitely won't be our only visit. Such a fun choice for a birthday celebration, date night, or a night out with friends when you want something completely different from the usual bar experience. We're already looking forward to going back and seeing what our new membership unlocks.

The atmosphere is fun and looks great, but the only proper drink that didn't feel like a tiny sample was the old fashioned. The rest of the portions felt like I was given only a taste, when the price didn't feel to be justified in the small helpings that we were given. I get you want to avoid drunks ruining the experience, but I walked out thinking "That's it?". Not saying people wouldn't enjoy what they offer, I feel if all their experience drinks were about the size of their old fashion it would've definitely been a 5 star review. In closing I don't want to dissuade anyone from trying it out, but I didn't feel the value in the total experience, felt more like they wanted to warm us up to spend more at their bar after the "experience".

But this place is a vibe because it commits to its character. It knows who it is portraying to be, and never surrenders its identity based on opinion. Meaning that this place is pretty and pink and a tropical print mixture, and its owns its look. And if you ain't trying to get the vibe that keep on moving. This place is also nestled in the heart of the Arts district next to other bars that know their personality and go spheres-out to claim. So its aesthetic meets the orbiting bars not in style but commitment to its brand,. I went on a night where they were specifically showing a Love Island Episode. Why? Morbid curiosity? Guilty pleasure? A reason to go out. Yes and then some. The place was immediately recognizable by its hot pink door. The door promised a portal and it delivered. As soon as you enter the bar it hits with theme, with neon, with crowd dressed in posh attire. Like I said it was a vibe in pink. When I went to the bathroom the line was only female. The leader of the line was explaining that they could use the male bathroom since no males were there and cue my entrance. A few women were already inside and I waited until the line leader said it was ok to go in. I implict take away is that this night was women heavy. Like the shows fan base was mostly young chicks. Who knew? I have been to a few soccer games at bars in the recent past and of course there is a lot of expressions of enthusiasm and commentaries as the game progresses. The bar was set up in the same way. The tvs were there, showing the game, and I wondered if they were going to collectibely gasp and root as the episode continued I saw that they did. When an Islander said something impactful the crowd reacted. It was like seeing a game and enjoying it but here it was relationship dynamcis/drama unfold. And people were here for it. In fact, as I was waiting to order my drink, I heard customers behind me analyze the drama as sports fan analyze a game. And they were ciomparing different seasons. Apparently season six made the guy behind him feel uncomfortable because it was too freak. Either that season or this season had toe sucking. So there was history in this game that led to fan reactions and follow up insight. They were invovled fans. And this was the congregation for involved fans. I went to live the dream of a fan who would die for this and could not come. I eventually gave up on a drink the line was too long.

The ambiance has a perfect speakeasy vibe with its dim lighting and relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to just hang out and grab a quality drink. The cocktail program here is absolutely phenomenal. I am pretty picky when it comes to whiskey, and since Manhattans are my absolute favorite, my expectations were high. They mixed an incredible Manhattan that was perfectly balanced with the right sweet vermouth, and their Old Fashioneds are crafted with an attention to detail that really lets the spirits shine through. We also ordered a few Paper Planes, and they were dangerously good, hitting that perfect sweet and sour note that makes you want to immediately order another round. It is not just the incredible drinks that make this place stand out, but the exceptional service from the bartenders. They are super knowledgeable and treat craft cocktail making like a true art form, all while keeping the vibe laid-back and welcoming. They sell cigars but the patio is packed with cigarette smokers and people vaping. A couple people were smoking pot. Very strange. It's a cliche to roll up a $100 bill to snort coke. Perfect for cocktail hour, but they also serve the full menu from castaway here so you could even order dinner if you wanted. Really beautiful presentation for the cocktails, reminds me of Barton G before it closed. They have a buzz button cocktail which was super tasty! Service was extreme friendly, and accommodating. Everyone was making sure we were satisfied throughout out time there. I will for sure be back, and if you're looking for a cute date night spot this it! I will be back to try more of the tapas!
