I loved the ambiance and the lab coats as well. They did it justice. The seats are taken right away and most are reserved so there are no real tables or chairs to sit at so we opted to hang out in the cold but found a heater that we gravitated towards. I can't recall the names of each drink we had as this was back in December 2025. We found street parking in a well light area so we weren't worried about the area. We might just check it out again. Dj was cool on the night I attended. A small area to dance indoors. The bar outdoors had no service on a Friday night. (I don't think this is good) The water dispenser was never refilled for us to serve our own water. (So what's the point?) I sat at a table outside with my date and 10-15 minutes later a server with a "tude" came and asked us to move because the table had been reserved. This is understandable; the issue is that I asked: "do you have tables I can reserve now?" He looked at me with a dumbfounded look on his face and said: "go online and check. I don't know" with a condescending attitude. (Like I was bothering him-it's not what he said, it's how he said it, really) Luckily, there were some cool people that made the night more fun. But one server with a poor attitude will get a business closed down. Note this; they follow time to the clock. I think this review is more like a 3.5. Came to Apotheke for a nightcap after leaving a work holiday party early. It was easy enough to make a reservation in advance, but not sure if it was necessary- it was pretty empty when we got there at 9:30pm on a Friday night. Needless to say, I liked how it wasn't crowded, and the bar itself is beautiful. The inside area is small, but leads to a beautiful enclosed patio area which is where we sat- although it was cold, it was comfortable because there were heaters. The reason for the 3.5 stars is because the drinks are just ok. I felt that the cocktails weren't as good as they could've been- they were overly sweet and didn't have the craft cocktail special-ness speakeasy bars usually have. Wow, just wow! Apothéke is a hidden gem of a cocktail lounge. Heard about it years ago and finally went to it after the severe rains in Los Angeles. Walking up the ramp (yes this place is handicap friendly) we were greeted be a cool door guy. Inside you are transported to an amazingly dimly lit lounge with comfy plush chairs, couches and booths. I there to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was so much fun. There was a dj (DirtieB) spinning chill lounge tunes. The bar looked like a giant glowing crystal. After checking out their website, it turns out their original location was in New York! I immediately noticed the similarities inside - the wall of vials and liquor behind the bar and bartenders in white coats. It's a much large venue in LA than in NY. There is a nice outdoor patio with a water station, which is so appreciated. There's another bar outside if the inside one is too crowded. Another plus is they have their own parking lot, which has plenty of spots!! There is a bouncer who checks ID outside. The bathroom is just before the outdoor entrance. The menu is nicely broken down by category. Each drink def has an overwhelmingly long list of ingredients. There is no price list, but according to my bill, the drinks were $20-25ish. There is an automatic 20% gratuity if your bill is over $100. If you have a large group, I highly recommend making reservations. They charge like a thousand dollars for 20+ people. The prices at Apothéke are on the higher side, which is not uncommon for a cocktail bar with a focus on mixology. I tried the Head Held High and Forlorn Dragon. While I appreciate the effort and creativity that goes into crafting each drink, I don't think they were any more impressive than cocktails at other bars/restaurants. FYI, prices aren't listed on the menu. Finally, the atmosphere can come across as a bit pretentious and self-important. This establishment take themselves very seriously and seem more interested in showcasing their aesthetics than in providing a warm and welcoming environment for guests. The bartenders seemed annoyed when interacting with customers, even when the bar wasn't all that busy. We were here to celebrate a friend's birthday, but Apothéke was very strict about not allowing us to bring in a cake. We asked if we could just quickly bring it in, sing happy birthday and put away the cake in our car without eating it there. Their answer was still a no.
