Went bar hopping with several friends on a Sunday, this place was a good first stop to those who are unfamiliar with bars as it gives the right vibes and ambiance for a bar. They have both indoor seating and outdoor seating with a piano in the middle of the room. The pianist played beautifully while not ruining the atmosphere inside. We went to Bar Stella with Michael K. and his brother David K. a couple weeks ago, to catch up and listen to jazz. David is a jazz enthusiast, and spends a lot of time going to bars and shows around greater Los Angeles. He wanted to see his friend Adam Ledbetter, who plays piano at the bar on Monday nights, and we tagged along. We'd been to Cafe Stella once, many years ago, but this was our first time inside Bar Stella. The space was nice, an attractive lounge with comfortable seating and a relaxed European vibe. We did have to wait a few minutes for seats to open up on a Monday, so I wouldn't be surprised if it were a little less chill on a weekend night. Bar service was fast and friendly, and we had a few rounds of cocktails. I don't remember everything we drank, but I liked the C. Arthur, made with Artist Blend Scotch, lemon, honey, cold press ginger, and Angostura bitters. El Viento was good too, if slightly watery and sour, with Tequila Ocho Reposado, yuzu, grapefruit agave, and Thai spice bitters. The piano was lovely. Adam is an incredibly talented musician, and it was a pleasure listening to him play. I appreciated his music even when we were talking, and would love to go back to hear it again on another Monday night. read more

They advertise closing at 2 AM, but around 12:30 AM they already start pushing people out. Staff were loudly yelling "bar is closed," and by about 1:15 AM security was going around telling everyone to leave. At one point, a security guard even grabbed my cup while I was literally in the middle of taking a sip, saying "ladies, we're done." It felt really unprofessional and unprovoked. If I just bought a drink 15 minutes earlier, why are you touching it and rushing me out? And if you're going to start clearing people out that early, why continue selling drinks until 1 AM? read more

The ambiance is gorgeous, until it isn't. They don't stay open until 2 AM; they stop serving when they feel like it, then turn the lights all the way up to make sure you really get the message that they want you to get out. All you can do is get there as early as possible, but be prepared for the lights to go on at any moment and get kicked out before you've even finished your drink. It's such a shame. One of my favorite bars in Silverlake (when it's not super packed) it's dimly lit and on the cozy side. There's a few couches inside and an outdoor patio with begonia flowers cascading down the wall. Took us 30 minutes to even put an order in for a drink before our dinner reservation. Took another 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them. Also there is a major hygiene issue here for anyone who likes olives in their drinks. The bartender was using his bare hands and dunking them into the olive container. I watched him dunk his hands into the olives and brine to make a drink and then turn around the ring a customer up on the touch screen, handle credit cards, receipts, pens and wipe his hands on his apron and then go ahead and repeat dunk those same unwashed hands into the olives and make a drink with those olives again. This place is a viiiibe. This is a dope spot to come here with friends or on a date. They play some good music and their cocktails are delicious. Cocktail prices are a bit steep, starting at $20+, but it's worth trying out. Especially their seasonal cocktails. I ordered the C. Arthur cocktail, which was a bourbon based drink. My friend ordered the Norteno cocktail (tequila based drink). Both drinks were good and the service was pretty decent. This is a cute spot, but I don't visit it as much anymore because I prefer cheap drinks lol. However, when I'm feeling in the mood to look cute and drop $20 on a drink, I come here! Yes it's usually crowded and loud ... and you probably won't find a seat at the bar unless you get there before 8 or 7pm. Even when it's crowded though, I find that everyone is polite and friendly. Saying "excuse me" is a thing lol.... And someone will always spark a conversation with you. I go out to a lot of bars and this one always has some interesting fun folks. The drinks are supper yummy.. which is why I don't mind spending the money. The staff/ bartenders are obviously very busy most of the night but they are friendly and when they finally get to you .. they are very attentive. My new favorite bartender is Chip. Not only is he cute, but his drinks are always on point! The whole lab coat lol works for me! Music is usually okay. The later the night gets the more crowded it gets and you can't really hear the music as much. I love the disco ball and the lounge sofa areas. I describe the space as cozy but chic. "Bring sally up" Moby brings me to my next point, there's no DJ here, but there's some eclectic tunes, can't say I've ever heard phil Collins greatest hits on a Friday night in a bar before. But damn, in the air tonight is pretty epic when all the pretend hipsters don't know it. My only complaint is the same hipsters who can't seem to keep their drink in their hand and spill all over people and the floor, bring an umbrella because you might get WET. read more

A tiny bar in Sunset Junction, this little hidden bar has a discreet entrance, an indoor lounge, small bar area and small patio. Two bathrooms are available. Crowded most nights and feels more so due to its small size. Smoking patio is always popping.. just don't break a glass! The cocktails are pricey, some north of $20. Bartenders are great, once they can get to you. Shout out to our boy Chip and the other guy from Germany. The DJ tends to play fun music ... I went here with my friends recently and we really enjoyed our initial service, the ambiance was amazing and the drinks were good. However when the night was ending I went up to the bar to ask for water. The bar tender (white guy with long blonde hair) mocked me for asking for water and made a joke about me being dehydrated. Honestly it felt borderline racist. The guys sitting next to me also expressed how uncomfortable that interaction made him.
