    Orange Wine anyone?
    Quintin E.

"Staring at the ceiling... I can feel you trying doors I'd opened up before..." Down on the far east end of Hollywood Blvd where Thai Town and Los Feliz meet in East Hollywood you might find yourself at a hidden gem known as Tabula Rasa Bar, a little big wine bar with the beats, bites, sips and vibes you didn't even know you were missing. From 2pm until Midnight, 7 days a week - this casual chic romantic groovy intimate wine, beer and nom spot is serving up the best tunes, service and assortment of beverages with great food to pair it all with. Take a dip of the Hot Soft Pretzel, dive into the Pepita Dip (roasted pumpkin seeds), Kale Caesar Salad (large or small - vegan option available), the pickle plate, marinated olives, chili lime almonds and some many great choices to please your palate, "Play you however many times I want, yeah I'll play you like a slow song..." "I'll keep you spinning..." like the choice music, first come first serve seating inside, back patio or front patio overlooking the boulevard. With white, red, pink (rosé), orange, bubbles (sparkling), rice (wine aka sake), and spritz/aperitivos for by the glass options. Draft craft brews domestic + imports, not to mention canned or bottled options for an awesome range of lagers, ales, cider, stout, ipas, pilsners and then some. You're fully covered for a variety of beverage needs including some top choice non-alcoholic drinks like their Zero Riesling, Kally Berry Fennel, Pilsner and super Ghia Spritz. You'll feel welcome every time you step in, good wi-fi, clean and easy restroom access for customers. As Tabula Rasa would say, "When you're here, you're family." Very much open to all, live music on occasion, incredible DJs on Thursdays (my favorite night). It's a short stroll from the Redline Station at Hollywood/Western, very walkable, bike friendly, local street parking (see restrictions) and/or a convenient rideshare away. And how ever you venture to TRB, know it's always worth it and a cool place to be. Check out their Thai Town Bar Monthly Wine Club! And inquiry about hosting an event - birthday, college graduation and various occasion friendly.

I'd be thrilled with this place, were it not for the service I received. It's in a great spot on Hollywood Blvd. with pretty easy-to-find parking on nearby side streets. It's aesthetically pleasing, sophisticated and airy. The drink I had (a vermouth spritzer) was a unique find on the menu, and quite tasty. However, the bartender was friendly only when trying to get me to order more drinks. I understand that bartenders adopt a façade of sparkling customer service to provide a fun, extended experience. It was just jarring that this particular libations peddler was so attentive when he thought I'd order another round, and when I said I wasn't sure yet, the smile literally dropped from his face and he walked away, ignoring me as I was adding a lighthearted comment (which pertained to my thinking about another drink). There were only 2 other patrons in the bar whom he'd just served, so there was no need to dismiss me hastily to serve a line of people. Of course, I know that he only cared about getting more business and more money from me - but someone skilled in customer relations would never make a guest feel this way. It's like riding Space Mountain with the lights on. I'll come back to give them another shot. It's unfortunate that a little rudeness, or carelessness, left such a sour taste to overpower a delicious drink.

Another accidental find. Our local spot had a one hour wait so we left our car where we parked it and walked here instead. We were determined to have wine and didn't necessarily want to wait a full hour for a table. We also didn't want to drive again only to find no parking on a Friday night so we walked the 5 mins here. There was no wait here. We walked in and beaded to the bar. I stood back a d let my friend take the wheel. We walked over to the back area with our drinks thinking we'd chill there, but it was more for the smokers so we found a table inside instead. I'm not sure I figured out what the vibe was. The music was definitely loud. I'm sure it would be bothersome had the genre blasting wasn't to someone's liking. They were playing 80s so I was chill. One of the bartenders came over to drop off our cheese plate so my friend asked him for round 2 of drinks. He sarcastically snapped at her saying this wasn't table service and he wasn't her waiter so she needed to get up and go to the bar if she wanted another drink. I was kind of taken aback, but knew he meant well so I didn't want to make a big deal of it. He ended up taking our order before he went back to the bar. We did enjoy the two orange wines we got and the cheese board, but the experience as a whole did not make me want to come back. Additionally, there was a party right at the entrance who were so loud the lady next to them ate her food so quickly so she could bounce. She was dining alone and looked my way a few times to acknowledge the loud group next to her.

Have been meaning to come here for quite some time. Always a big fan of intimate wine bars like this (in the vane of Bar Bandini, Covell, El Prado) and Tabula Rasa made its cut as the newest addition to that list. Stopped by on the way home from errands on a whim, so did a solo walk-in. The bartenders were so friendly. All their wines are natural so they walked me through some choices, even encouraging some tastings of others while I was there. A private event was being hosted in the back patio when I was there but I snuck a peek and the space is adorable. Also loved people stopping in to buy bottles to go. They serve food and there are happy hour specials if you're there at the right time. Will definitely be returning soon.

The inside is cosy and casual, and it's a bit romantic. There's usually a nice buzz of people in the late afternoon. This intimate bar first opened in West Hollywood in 2013. The entrance is on the side of a beautiful historic Hollywood Spanish Gothic style building on Westbourne Drive, off Santa Monica Boulevard. You could almost miss it from the street as it's kind of hidden which is definitely part of its charm. About a century ago it was a studio for silent film star Charlie Chaplin and later a library for Sherman, which was the name of West Hollywood before it was incorporated. So this is a beautiful and historic location with a fascinating history, V Wine Room serves about 30 different wines by the glass and a large selection by the bottle, mostly small California wineries from the Napa Valley. The menu also features sparkling wines, natural wines and sakes from small Japanese producers. They have food to accompany the drinks as well: delicious Roman-style pizzas, cheese boards and charcuterie, fish and even chocolate. I've always managed to find free parking on side streets just up the street like on West Knoll for a couple hours, but there's also valet parking right in front and a city parking lot about a block west

It was underwhelming and lacked flavor. We also ordered two hanger steaks, but only one was brought to the table. There were four of us dining, so it was obvious something was missing. By the time we realized it, service had been slow enough that we didn't want to flag someone down and wait even longer, so we just shared what we had. Another surprise was the soda, a small glass filled mostly with ice for $7, and it didn't appear to come with refills. $14 for two small glasses? That felt excessive. The dining space was also very cramped. Tables were packed so closely together that there wasn't much room to move around, making the overall experience feel crowded. The saving grace of the meal was dessert. The Chocolate Torta and Market Berries. The service was ok, except for missing an order and not acknowledging the birthday. Overall the execution and experience didn't justify the cost. Between the small portions, missing entrée, underwhelming halibut, crowded seating, and expensive beverages, I left disappointed. After not visiting since 2019, I was hoping for a much better experience. Sadly, I don't see myself returning.

All the dishes were delicious and all the flavors meshed well when mixing sauces with different items. Steak was thick but somehow still remained perfectly juicy and medium rare, one of the few steaks that I think are good to eat in one bite without cutting because each large piece had so much nuanced flavor per chew. Loved the caesar beef tartare too, and how it was already cut into small pieces! Housemade caesar dressing was hitting with the anchovies, and the sourdough was perfectly toasted. Parking is metered or neighborhood parking, can be a bit tricky but we always seem to get lucky in this area. Service was so friendly and sweet, water was constantly refilled even on a busy night. The Caesar beef tartare caught me off guard in the best way: great flavors with a nice hint of acidity. The steak frites was solid too, though the steak-to-fries ratio was off and the aioli came out a bit cold. The vibe is great with tons of natural light, but the tables are crammed way too close together, so it's tough to hear your own party's conversation when others are having conversations near by. A little more breathing room would go a long way. Still, glad I checked it out.

It's a lounge in every sense -- bigger than you'd expect, lots of armchairs and cushions, low tables, and just enough dim lighting (one small lamp per table) to set the mood. We showed up around 6:30pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, which honestly made for a lovely, relaxed start to the evening. A heads up if you're coming with a vegetarian: the food menu is limited, and vegetarian options are slim. There were really only three when we visited: * Sfincione All'Aglione: garlic knot-style bread, tasty but I actually prefer the sfincione over at Mother Wolf * Frittatina alla Norma: rigatoni-style lasagne cut into fried squares, served with sauce. A fun concept, but mostly tasted like the breading and fried flavor. * Fried squash blossoms: we skipped these Our waiter did offer an off-menu margherita pizza for my vegetarian friend, which was a nice touch. As a non-vegetarian, I had the hamburger - usually a Thursday-only item that they extended through Mother's Day weekend - and while it was good (hot, crunchy fries included), $38 felt steep and honestly... at a Roman Italian bar, I'd probably just order off the actual menu next time. The cocktails are where this place really shines: * Morso Di Vita: passion fruit forward with tomato and basil -- excellent, would reorder immediately * Robusta: ginger forward, light and refreshing * Sole Dorato: billed as a spicy margarita, served with an adorable little honey stick One tip: ask about dessert! We weren't offered it and almost missed out. So glad we asked because we ended up with: * Budino al gianduia (I think, no photo of dessert menu): amazing. Crunchy bits on top, thick chocolate ganache layer. Get this. * Passion fruit mandarin sorbet: light, tart, refreshing - a great way to finish Service was friendly throughout and the pacing felt easy. Overall I'd go back for the cocktails & vibe and to actually explore the non-vegetarian menu more. Currently on Inkind if you want a discount! Parking: Hollywood meters can be tricky - I'd suggest heading south on Wilcox where you can usually find something a few blocks into the neighborhood. Or just do valet and enjoy the night.

I didn't make it here until March 2026 and after my first visit, I'm sorry I didn't come earlier. My husband and I came here on a Sunday night, with a last minute reservation I'd made on Resy.
