Ended up at this quiet, quaint, moody bar on what I believed was a failed Sunday night because Sticky Rice was closed. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and had the Chocolate Stout. It was so milky, creamy, delicious... just like me. After a couple more variety of beers, obviously it was time to feast on a classic, timeless all American gem- the hotdog. We ever so gently asked our beer connoisseur, "Excuse me, what comes in the hotdog?" Our mouths already salivating at the prospect of this delicacy. To which the fine gentleman responded "Mustard, mayo and Ketchup." Please remember this important detail, it's crucial to the story. We were feeling very bold as one does when you are glutes deep in a Hazy IPA and a second Stout so We said "Perfect. All three will do." Our eyes were beaming, our spirits were lifting, our bellies were grumbling with anticipation. After a brief three minutes, there she was. The gleaming glizzy. Doused in an intricate, interwoven condiment presentation. So immaculate, so beautiful. With such a moment it was only appropriate that we share the gleaming glizzy Lady and the Tramp style. Yes, sexy indeed. As we hold up both ends of the glizzy to our mouths, locking eyes we simultaneously take one big bite. And then... The most overpowering sensation dominates our mouths, our noses, our eyes even. In a state of shock, teetering on a state of confusion and then rage we jolted. WHAT IS IN THIS HOTDOG??? Because that was not just any plain yellow American mustard. It was a pulsating fire rampaging through our nasal cavities. It was like the world had stood still and we lost sense of gravity. This is not to be confused with a disbelief of happiness. It was a disbelief of deceit. Once we grabbed a hold of ourselves and a grip of reality we waved down the fine gentleman and said, "Is this horseradish???" To which he retorted, "No, everyone asks that. It's Spicy Dijon" Bewildered we looked at each other and knew we were thinking the same thing. A piece of us died that night. In that bar. Because that was Spicy Dijon mustard coursing through our blood, our veins, forever seared in our memories. We were lied to. Made to believe that this gleaming glizzy was normal. Beautiful and unsuspecting. Not even the coldest winter day on the snowy slopes compares to the journey we took with this hotdog. Anyway service 10/10, vibes and drinks spectacular. If I could give El Prado negative stars, I would. The female bartender and her minions are hands down the rudest staff I've ever dealt with in LA. The main girl behind the bar rolls her eyes at every single request like pouring a glass of wine or beer is the hardest job in the world. Newsflash: if serving beer, wine, and the occasional hot dog is that beneath you, maybe it's time to quit and find a new career. The attitude here is unbelievable. She acts like customers are inconveniences rather than the reason she even has a job. Order a hot dog (the food literally on their menu) and you'll get treated like you've asked her to cater a wedding. More eye-rolls, more sighs, and an unreasonably long wait for something that comes in a bun. El Prado thinks it's "cool" and "scene-y," but what it really is: pretentious, unwelcoming, and staffed with people who clearly hate being there. I went here with a group of friends and every person who was working that night had a very bad attitude. The brunette bartender gave us a hard time when we asked about getting a hot dog and what came on it, she gave a snide remark and said, "well... it's a hot dog....." which was so weird and rude. The entire night she made us feel like we were being such an inconvenience when ordering drinks. There was also a sassy white man who was off the clock sitting outside who started yelling to his friend group about us moving a table closer to another since we had a bigger group. He was talking crap about us directly in front of us about how insane and rude it is that we moved a table. Really weird behavior from these people who work here. If you don't like people then don't work in the service industry. We were treated like moving over a table was the equivalent of murdering a child. They really need to brush up on customer service skills because they are all very much lacking. I used to love coming here but the staff have been getting meaner and meaner and we've decided to stop coming because of their horrible staff. read more

Extremely terrible service here, i ordered two glasses of wine and the taller white lady with tattoos who poured them had terrible attitude because she had to open a new bottle and when i turned around she filled both glasses half way with water and poured wine into them and when i caught her she didnt apologize or anything she just gave me a condescending look and dumped them put and re-poured left. Pretentious without the quality to back it up..... came in last night for a night cap. Bartenders couldn't be bothered kept putting all the dirty glasses in front of me. Drinks were over priced and honestly nothing special. I got a lambic that was pretty underwhelming. The vibe was off there's vinyl playing and live piano which is cool but bummed it had to be in this meh place. Gold line in highland Park is way better, this place seemed to try to mimic that vibe but missed the mark by being "too cool" some patrons were stuck up too "ugh,I don't drink alcohol I'm here for the kombucha" the only reason why I have a 2nd star is for chatting with a regular who was down to earth and had good things to say about the owner who perhaps has good intentions but hired a douche crew? I stumbled across this cozy spot and it has left the best impression. The staff is a pleasure to be around and extremely knowledgeable, they have tasty hot dogs and play vinyl. Had a wonderful time at El Prado. We sat at the bar which was really nice. The lighting is dim and soft and the place overall is cozy and romantic The wine list is extensive. Most wines though are by the bottle so by the glass options are fairly limited. The bar tenders were very attentive and provided excellent service. They have a small snack menu that included some amazing hotdogs and a short but very good beer list as well. read more

One of the worst experiences i have had when it comes to a " bar" We came in on a Sat evening and it was relatively quiet. They had 5 staff behind bars working , and none of them acknowledged us for 10 min. There was a guy who is supposedly the owner who looked like a Walmart version of Hugh Laurie and he was talking to someone at the end of the bar and he only talked to people who seemed like his regulars. The shittiest service i have ever gotten . Bartenders were inattentive and dismissive. They would say things to you but wouldn't make eye contact. Terrible customer service or discrimination? We went in a little after it opened and there was one other patron there too. The blond woman who had opened up shop and appeared to be the owner/bar manager seemed to recognize the one other person there and she proceeded to have a full on conversation with them. We waited respectfully and patiently for a very long time, with awkward smiles on our faces out of consideration, and the manager never acknowledged our presence and eventually we ended up just leaving. The only two other people in there was us at that time, come on. The sun was still out too. I get that we were the first customers of the evening, but the least you can do is say "Hi, I'll be right with you". Nope. It's either terrible customer service or discrimination. Maybe it wasn't. Anywho, being a POC, it was hard to not take that quality of service personally in Echo Park. This place gave me the ick. And it's really unfortunate because I really liked coming to this place before on other occasions where it was busy and bartenders have always been kind and efficient. I want to love this place so badly-- as their neighbor it would be sooooo convenient if I did. However, the staff is absolutely awful. Bartenders are rude and honestly have no idea what they're doing even though their ONLY job is to pour a drink. One of them didn't even offer to serve me (before 2am) until the so called owner was around, in which case she asked him if it was ok. He obviously "allowed" her to serve me, a customer. (?!?!???) On that note... The "owner" claims to be a local, which is just so aggravating for those who are actually native to the area. Sure, the music and ambiance are cool. It's just not worth the unfriendliness, overpriced snacks, and mediocre wine and beer selection. Way overrated. read more

I don't know if the white man with the curly hair was having a bad day. I never feel the need to make reviews as a fellow food service employee but his approach, demeanor, and lack of respect experienced in my 30 second interaction was astounding and disappointing. After I asked for a beer, the "bartender" looked me dead in the eye and said "pale ale" while pouring an expensive glass of wine. I didn't want to bother asking for another drink considering how absent he presented himself. His ego was highly apparent, and I could feel his bitter, pretentious attitude as soon as I walked up to the bar. He didn't bother addressing me, and stared at me blank face with no expression which made me feel highly uncomfortable. This is a cute place but this place would benefit from a friendlier staff.
