Nice, cozy place to have a drink. It's called Big Bar but the bar is pretty regular sized lol. Inside had a cozy, home-like decor. They have a nice big front patio and additional seating in the back. The Alcove Cafe is attached so you can order food there and bring it to the bar side. It's a good place to get some work done during the day or get a drink at night. They have a happy hour Mon-Fri 2-7, highlights are the $2 off drafts, $8 wines, and $10 cocktails. I came in for a drink after work. Can definitely recommend the paloma, Irish coffee, and Alison cocktails. Service was great. Friendly staff. There's street meter parking up and down the block.

Drinks good and some come in cute cups. Waiter seemed a bit agitated for some reason. Space was a little crammed but what bar in LA isn't. Beautiful bar though.

Great cute neighborhood bar in the area, attached to a coffee shop, great food and snacks. Bar drinks are very good, interesting. Toppings to the drinks as well. Fun to come with friends. Great service and atmosphere.

I came here to hang out with my friend because this looked like a nice place. The way they serve food is similar to Panera and Corners Bakery where you go to the cashiers to pay for your food 1st and then bring the table number to your table. They have great drinks and the food was tasty. If you are looking for parking, you'll be parking on the street. However, if you valet park there, it's $15; which in my opinion is ridiculous because they will still park your car on the street. I will definitely come back if I ever have a celebration or a hang out with friends to go to.

Very creative cocktails. Think this was called Better than Breakfast?

Really cool spot I'd never been to before. It seems like they share a space with the coffee shop next door (and both have access to a nice outdoor area). The bar itself is nice. Not too big (despite the name), but also not terribly crowded (at least not on a Wednesday). I tried a few drinks and all were nice. One of them was called something like "Before Breakfast" and came with a small toast point with marmalade on it. Another was a lavender flavored one that I really enjoyed (I'm BIG on lavender). I also tried a classic old fashioned, and that was good too! Really looked like I couldn't go wrong with whatever I ordered! Would definitely want to go back and see what else they have. Overall a really great bar! Stay Cheerful ;)

Happy Hour Bar Food. Sliders, fries, hummus, and board with a small selection not meat and cheeses.

Came in here for Happy Hour before going to our concert at the Greek Theater. Happy Hour starts from 2pm - 7pm. They have a small selection of drinks you can choose from. Wines($8), beers($5) and their cocktail of the day ($10) which happened to be the daiquiri. The daiquiri was very delicious! We ordered everything off the happy hour food menu which was fun to snack on. The Big Bar is actually on the same property right next to the Alcove Cafe. It has a nice modern bar top as well as a beautiful scenic outdoor seating. The parking in the area is difficult but they do have a valet service out in front. Overall, I enjoyed our happy hour experience. I even grabbed an espresso next door afterwards. I'd come check it out for the atomspehere and happy hour.

Parking: plenty of nearby street parking or valet for 7.50 Atmosphere: outdoor LA vibe, fun crowd of all ages, very picture worthy Service: excellent waiters and host Food: I barely ate, and it's not because I wasn't hungry Overall cute date spot for brunch, especially for the super health conscious. Found this place by following @dineanri on Instagram, previous recommendations were all great.

The sandwiches are fantastic and there's usually room at the bar if it's crowded. The bartender was knowledgeable and talented. Excellent service. Valet or walk a ways.

What a great gem! My family and I went here for a causal Labor Day late afternoon happy hour outing. Love the aesthetic; gave me very cozy woody, meets hipster vibes. Restaurant and bar staff were all so friendly. There was plenty of seating, and they have plenty of delicious food options. I highly recommend trying their craft drinks - they're both tasty and cute. My only qualm was I tried to call ahead to reserve a table, and the pre recorded line stated they weren't taking reservations. Yet when we got there, two tables had a reserved sign on them.

This place has a great patio that's pretty but a pretty big let down for cocktails. The big bars cocktails really were not great at all in my opinion which is one of the main reasons we came. I can't speak to the food though!

    Delicious cocktails!

Ask the Community - Big Bar

Do they make martinis there? Or more specifically, do they make espresso martinis there?

I'm sure they make martinis, but not sure about espresso martinis. During our visit, the bartender was a young man, knowledgeable about the area and seemed at ease behind the well-stocked bar. I'm sure they can accommodate your drink orders. Peace.

The food is excellent, having tried the schnitzel, kielbasa, steak frites and pierogis. If you have room in the end, the bread pudding is fantastic. The portions are big and filling and we tend to end up with leftovers. Drinks menu is big, with a variety of creative cocktails and wines. Vibes are different depending on where you sit. Outdoor patio seating is great, and reminds of eating outdoors in a European cafe. Indoor seating is a little cramped if you're at one of the tables, which also sort of mimics European cafes. My one small knock on this restaurant is the service has been inconsistent. Couple times our waiter was great, but a couple times it was hard to flag them down, they didn't space out the dishes very well as the appetizers and entrees all came out the same time, or they forgot to bring water when we asked for it. Small things to complain about overall though.

Plenty of outdoor seating, but they only have a lot four tables and bar seating inside. Had the hash brown cake and the bread and butter and jam to start. The baguette was the average baguette. But the gym was pretty tasty. The hash brown cake is exactly what it sounds like. The hash brown deep-fried into a thick little cake but absolutely tasted amazing. Crispy tasty delicious. I had the breakfast Royale, which is two eggs, bacon, and one pancake. Can't really do wrong with this pancake was light fluffy, and moist. My daughter had the avocado toast with salmon and absolutely loved it. They were busy, but still made sure that we were treated right and service in bartender. We're very attentive.

I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

How about instead of accepting $$$ for a private event that will deny customers their reservation, they make the private event work around what is available? Terrible way of doing business, but I hope they get lots of $$$ and engagement for the privileged private event attendees.

Service 4 stars: Friendly, attentive, efficient and helpful staff. Food 4 stars: You can order individually or share a few small and large plates as a group. We also ordered the following main plates: Beef Shishlik, Whole Branzino and Prime Short Rib Tagine. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate & Halva Sundae and the Tiramisu. Everything we had was creative, used fresh ingredients, was nicely plated, and tasted wonderful. Prices are on the higher side, as expected for an upscale restaurant.
