The waitstaff were sooo friendly, I was with a friend who accidentally ordered something sweet due to a language barrier and basically they switched it no problem and found her something she loved at no extra charge. Actually I'd have to say it was all reasonably priced. Please note that gratuity is already included. So, why four stars? We also had the burrata and beets, served with toasted bread that was salty, crisp, and absolutely delicious. For drinks, I tried the sparkling Chardonnay, which was light, refreshing, and perfect to start the evening. I followed that with an orange wine that had subtle lychee notes--easily my favorite of the two. Food-wise, the yellowfin tuna crudo stole the show and ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The rigatoni was also excellent: flavorful, rich, and perfectly al dente. Everything felt well-balanced and thoughtfully prepared. The service was great--attentive without feeling rushed--which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I celebrated my birthday here and the staff were so kind and welcoming! We waited shortly in the bar area which is pretty small. The ambiance is cute but it gets pretty loud in there. Then they walked us over to the outdoor patio which was perfect because we practically had the space to ourselves! The menu is small so we got at least 2 of almost everything & did family style (we had a party of 9) I believe their menus are seasonal, we got 6 pastas 2 Rigatoni 9/10 1Cacio e pepe 8/10 3 Tortellini 6/10 3 plates of steak 7/10 2 Caesar salads 10/10 2 sides of potatoes 8/10 3 breads 7/10 2 bottles of wine No stand outs really, but everything was good! Cute place. The sommelier was lovely and chose a great bottle for us. No notes. The food is just so so. Especially for the prices. My date had the steak and I could tell it was hard to cut and chewy. He liked his potato side. I had the shrimp, which were tasty, but I'm not a huge fan of head-on presentation and by the time you cut off the heads and the tails, you only get a few bites of food. So not my favorite, but that's personal preference. I had a side of the broccolini and really enjoyed it, though it was overdressed for my date. The bread is top-notch. I can't remember anything standing out to me, but the vibe is really cool inside, very dark and intimate. It's a good spot to take a date, but the food and wine selection is okay. Gorgeous wine bar with great food! -- Atmosphere -- The parking is a little tough during the weekdays / traffic hours but you can find meter parking by Shakeys and walk a block. You need to walk through a black gate that's generally closed to enter the venue. Trust me, the inside is beautiful. This place is great for 2-4 people, there are small round tables for smaller groups but there's also a lounge area for larger groups. They have wine fridges in the back with a friendly Sommelier, she was super helpful and attentive when I was picking out the wine. -- The Wine -- They have a great selection of wine bottles and wine by the glass that range in different types (Sparkling, Orange, etc). Their wines range between $16-$18 by the glass, you can also get a bottle of wine to open (though there's corkage fee, this is standard). I ordered their sparkling on the menu and it was delicious, super refreshing and super unique, it was a natural wine. Everyone else at my table was pretty happy with their selections as well. -- The Food -- The menu there is made for shared / family style. We ordered: - 3 Appetizers to start, they were all very delicious but the memorable ones were the Crudo with Cherries (it wasn't fishy at all, the sweetness & crunch toppings really made this special) Burrata with Tomatoes (the burrata was fluffy and a completely different texture than what I'm used to, and it was absolutely amazing. It was lightly sweetened with honey & balsamic, and the tomatoes they used were to die for). - For the greens, we ordered the Zucchini and while it was delicious, I wished we also had ordered the Little Gem Salad. If you're a veggie eater, I would recommend ordering more here - For the main, we got a single dish of the mushroom pasta. We ended up here after making a last minute detour after plan a fell through. I love when that works out. We got there looking a little lost. I blame the smokes that went down. I have a feeling the hostess found it amusing to see us struggle to open the door. Trust us, we were giggling the second we realized we just had to push. Short story long, this place is adorable. You would never guess the inside had the vibe it did. We started off with the bread & butter that let me tell you was just perfect. The crunch level was wow. We moved on to the prawns that had a hint of some type of herb that we didn't care for. We ended with the spaghetti limone which at first tasted too al dente, but after waiting a bit longer the succeeding bites got better and better. Overall, everything tasted great. So much so that all the plates were fully empty. We opted to hit up KTowm for dessert so I have something to look forward to for next time. The service was impeccable. My friend and I had heard about Lolo through an Instagram post, and we were intrigued by the cozy, intimate vibe and the rave food reviews. So we decided to have a friend date night one weekday evening. Lolo doesn't take reservations, so sometimes you may have to wait in the bar/lounge area until a table is ready. We were fortunate enough to arrive when a 2-person table was available at that time. We were instantly taken by the romantic, European vibes with the small tables, dark dimly lit room with checkered floors and gold accents. We ordered a couple glasses of wine, and their bread with honey butter to start. We had heard so much about the honey butter, and it was certainly worth the hype! It was absolutely delectable. Then we got the little gem salad and cacio e pepe before finishing the meal off with the chocolate tart and chocolate chip cookies. Overall the portion sizes looked small but were actually a decent size -- we could finish it all feeling satisfied. The food was delicious and well cooked. If there's anything you MUST get, it's the chocolate chip cookies. They are a fan favorite, and we also loved them. The wine selection was unique as well! The staff were very friendly but service was a little bit slow throughout our evening, but we were in any particular rush so we didn't mind too much. Overall, I highly recommend Lolo! We got the gem salad ($20) which had too much salt in the dressing or on top, I couldn't tell. Then the wax beans ($17) which were so hard to chew. I would have sent them back but there was so little on the plate when we tried them half were gone. Then we had the shrimp scampi ($25) which was recommended and honestly, so uninteresting and lacking anything to make it stand out. We finished with the branzino ($41) which didn't have anything on it, no lemon or anything but, you guessed it, too much salt. The cook on the food was good but the creativity and flavors were dull. Everything started tasting the same. Probably from the salt. Both our stomachs hurt so much after too. The bill came out to be $135 and they automatically include a 20% gratuity. A little gem in the heart of Hollywood. Came here upon high recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. First off they don't really do reservations, unless it's for a larger party, so you may find yourself having a few glasses of wine at the bar while you wait. But hey, there are some pretty tasty wines waiting for you there, including some orange which is always nice to see. The plates aren't huge but was enough for sharing, so we ordered up a few things between us and over the course of a bottle and change, had a grand time. The steak was excellent, and came paired with some potatoes. The branzino was so beautifully simple and well prepared that it really was a treat. Had some rigatoni with vodka sauce and even some broccolini to make our mother's proud. Every dish was great and we were all stuffed and sloshed by the time we stood up to leave. The layout is cool in that there is a sort of waiting room in the front that has a bar. Otherwise, all the main tables are in the center of the restaurant in a covered, yet outdoor space. There's also a wine shop in the back as well, which I believe offers tastings, but we were tasting plenty at the table and so I'll save that journey for another time. To sum it up, don't go here. Wow what a lovely experience we had at Lolo the other night! On Saturday, I was such a good girl! I was super patient when my boyfriend was on the phone doing boring adult things all day. When he finally got out of his office, he promised we would do something fun. For the 4th week in a row, I suggested we go to Lolo for dinner and this time, he finally said yes! We arrived here around 6PM on Saturday evening and were able to be seated right away. Although the inside was beautiful with its sexy dark interior (I love a black and white tile moment), we opted to sit outside to enjoy the final bits of summer. We had such a lovely time sitting amongst the foliage and the other happy patrons enjoying their evening. To be honest, I already knew what I wanted. I have been following Lolo on IG and had it bookmarked for weeks. The food looked spectacular and I couldn't wait to try it all. For drinks, we opted for a bottle of the "orange" option. I can't remember the name, but it was perfect for a nice summer evening. For food, we started with the bread and honey butter. WoW! so tasty! It was charred pieces of bread with olive oil drizzled onto it. Then they added a beautiful dollop of honeyed butter on the side. So delicious and a perfect start to the meal. We then had the grilled prawns in a delicious green sauce, also so good. The prawns were cooked perfectly and added a bit of the residual green sauce to our final piece of bread - divine! The Cacio e Pepe was delicious as well. As promised from the menu, it had tons of cheese and tons of pepper. My eyes may have rolled in the back of my head once or twice while enjoying this. Absolutely amazing. For our proteins, we opted for the steak and the whole branzino. The steak was delicious and had a yummy chimichurri sauce, but let me tell you about this BRANZINO! Crispy. Delicious. Lemony. Stunning. The best fish I have had in a long time. We finished off dinner with the brown butter cookies and some of the vermouth. OH My Word. Is honestly the only thing I can say. They were so yummy and was the perfect finishing touch on our already phenomenal meal. My boyfriend is now trying to hunt down the vermouth for the bar at home. Lolo was a night of hits and misses - we don't regret going, but we'd likely skip food next time. For a wine bar, we were surprised that the only two red options by the glass were essentially the same, one was just a bit lighter bodied than the other. They have a wider selection of bottles in the shop attached to the restaurant, which felt kind of weird because you'd have to leave your table, check out at the shop, and then go back to order food and eat. The attached bar was sooo lovely looking, and there seemed to be a much wider selection of wine options there. If we were to return, it would definitely be for the bar. For food, we got the bread and honey butter, the seasonal pea salad, the rigatoni, the grilled branzino, and the chocolate tart. Bread and honey butter: 5/5, loved the butter and it melted perfectly on the bread. Salad: 2/5, this was their worst item. It sounded lovely and refreshing, but the stems they used for the shoots were too tough for eating and the horseradish was poorly mixed, so some bites were super strong and most were too flavorless. Rigatoni: 3/5, on flavor alone it was really minimal but the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was divine. It was a super small portion size though and could have used a tiny bit more pork. I expected much more food. Branzino: 5/5, wouldn't change a thing about it. A unique dish, melt in your mouth flaky skin, and thankfully a good portion size so we wouldn't leave hungry. Chocolate tart: 5/5 omg this tart was divine!! The olive oil drizzle on top sealed the deal Some other minor pain points were the chairs were terribly uncomfortable, no padding and made my butt sore after a few minutes of eating. Also it took about 20 mins between our starters and the rigatoni which is a decent wait. Lastly, parking situation before 7 is AWFUL because there is no street parking on weekdays between 4-7.
