Just had a fabulous dinner here. The service was spot on and the food was incredible. I had the Beet and Kale Salad which was large and super tasty. I could have used large chunks of beets but that's just me. The garlic bread was INSANE! Best I have ever had. Somehow it was buttery and crunchy while being doughy and delicious in the middle. For our entrees we had the special pizza which was good and the Short Rib Pappardelle which was the best I have ever had. It had lemony ricotta cheese that added the perfect amount of brightness. Just good food at a fun and casual setting! Definitely eating here again! Net time I will save room for dessert which looked amazing. read more

We showed up a few minutes before happy hour ended, so we tried some arancini, a meatball, their watermelon dish along with corn & rice (corn & rice!). Entrees chosen were the bucatini pasta and another pasta featuring shrimp. They apparently adjust the menu often and their online menu may not keep up. Table service was quite nice throughout. Pacing was nice for the happy hour selections,but slowed down afterward while waiting on our pasta, though we put that in rather early. Their happy hour is superb. Favorites dishes were the corn and rice and watermelon (those pepper slices!). Plus on the bucatini was the guanciale's smokiness shining through. read more

The food was great had the half order of the tagliarini which was a spicy squid ink pasta, and half order of a pasta with pork belly I can't remember what it was called. The pork belly was my favorite but both were great! $14 for a half order which was the perfect portion for a meal. Also had dessert which was good. Service was not great they seemed annoyed to help us. But it was 9pm on a Friday so that might have been the reason. Would definitely return! read more

One of my favorite restaurants in town! Their pasta is el Dante but perfectly paired with the short rib yummmmm! Their red blend on tap is actually fantastic! Terrible experience here. Although we made a reservation and the place was quite empty we were seated at "the chef's table." I've sat at chef's tables before, but this was a poor excuse for one. It was so hot and looked directly into the pizza oven, therefore there were no chefs to be seen. While eating a fly landed in my meal, resulting in me not wanting to eat it. When the waiter noticed I had a full plate of food I wasn't eating he asked what was wrong. I pointed to the bug. He proceeded to take my knife, fling the bug away (it landed on the table), and say "that's better, out of sight, out of mind." I have NEVER experienced something like this in a restaurant! This sounds like something my grandmother would've done while eating at the family farm. No offer to replace the food and no apology for grabbing my silverware to flick the bug away. Outside of the bug incident, the food took a very long time. We ordered appetizers and a pizza, and we were are Bar Dough for 1 hour and 45 minutes. That seemed like quite a long time to be sitting and waiting for each course. Finally, when the waiter came and got our bill, we asked him to split it based on what we ordered (my friend ordered more drinks). He instead split it down the middle, which was pretty careless of him. From a food perspective, it was good. I've had much better pizza elsewhere, but their appetizers were interesting. read more

Very disappointing. First, the noise level was totally unbearable. The music was loud, so everyone had to yell at each other to be heard. The louder the general noise got, the louder everyone yelled. The food was awful. The word "doughy" barely touches it: Very bad pasta, very poorly done. And the place ain't cheap. We waited a very long time for our food, too long, considering we got there before it was crowded. Never again. This place is amazing! The only downside is trying to find parking in the highlands - just be ready to walk a bit if you can't find parking. We came here on a Friday night for dinner with friends and it was fabulous. Two quick tips for Friday (and I'm sure Saturday night) dinners, 1) definitely make a reservation and 2) be careful when you make the reservation because you may be at a high top that is shared with other parties. We were at the high top and had a blast but I know this isn't everyone's jam. The food was delish! Please order the meatballs to start. The meat was so tender and flavorful! They were easily some of the best meatballs I've had. We also ordered a couple pastas and pizzas. The pizza are thin crust and wood fired and absolutely delicious. The Spicy and Signore Bianco were wonderful and they complimented each other perfectly. Just as a heads up, if thin crust artisan pizza isn't your thing, then I wouldn't come here for pizza. The pasta is also wonderful. They cook it al dente perfectly! And the short rib was so tender it fell apart! The gnocchi was so flavorful and was so delicious. Lets just say we needed wheel barrows to be rolled out of the restaurant. Finally, the service was great! Our server was attentive, constantly grabbing more water - one in our group was pregnant and VERY thirsty. He had wonderful recommendations - the spicy and gnocchi! The manager stopped by and ended up comping our dessert because our first choice wasn't available - so unnecessary but so sweet! Definitely a great way to treat a guest! Finally got around to visiting this highlands neighborhood restaurant. The environment was great, and so was the food. Their happy hour is pretty solid as well. I work in the industry so when I leave a review I base it mostly off of food. I will say though that whoever the well bartender was seemed to be irritated(closer to the kitchen). He made minimal eye contact and we sorta had to flag him down every time we needed something. We will definitely be back but will probably request a table instead.. read more

Trying to figure out how this restaurant has such high ratings maybe for the taste of the food which was great but very very pricey 1st of all the lighting was horrible could barely see the people I was talking to so dark that every one's eyes were in the shadows not romantic or sexy at all!! had to ask 3 times to turn the heater on since it was cold near the door 1st server ignored us the 2nd server said ask your server !(you mean you couldn't plug it in and turn it on that would take 30 seconds???!!) The menu was extremely extremely limited with lots of pork and sausage (sorry I don't eat intelligent mammals) Only one fish meal only 1 chicken meal most of it pasta and the servings were very small for a very expensive prices! The chicken meal was $25 didn't even come with any sides You would think for such an expensive restaurant they would have stevia for a sweetener not cheap sweet and low omg And by the way it was very very noisy too So I'm giving it 2 stars for great tasting food and our server was very nice even though he replaced our forks 3 times lol By the way you think we would get a free birthday dessert since we spent nearly $300 !!!Would have been classy and nice. read more

Overwhelmingly intense! I typically love intense flavors, however, it was way too much. Wagyu beef was overpowered by capers and salt, the cauliflower was taken over by sun-dried tomatoes, squid ink taglianni had so much pepper it was almost inedible and the rigatoni had some strange sour/vinegar flavor that was very off-putting. My wife and I were both disappointed in the Chef's choice of boldness. I would not normally equate an experience at a restaurant directly to the Chef's intents, but she cooked them herself. We were in proximity to the kitchen and watched her make these dishes. I gave 3 stars because the flavor profiles were amazing, but one ingredient in each dish destroyed the experience. I would ONLY order the pizza here in the future...and the house made limoncellos of course. read more

We had one night in Denver and this place was recommended by the air Bnb owner to us. It was walking distance and we gave it a try. The walk was through a pleasant neighborhood at 800 at night. We were sat quickly and started with a nice spritz just like we had in Venice. The appetizers came oh quickly and we're a nice way to start. Corn and rice salad caprese salad and Brussels sprouts with goat cheese. The pasta was so good. The funghi was awesome with big flat noodles. The half portions were just perfect size after the appetizers And the wine selection was well paired with the food. Dessert selection was small but the gelato was fantastic. read more

Spots of fresh buffalo mozzarella judiciously top the pizza. They smile at you, as they relax after their fiery sauna in an ornate wood oven. To be an ingredient in the tomato sauce you must first please the palates of top chefs. Selecting Ingredients based on price be damned. The chefs savor watching diners fall in love with each other and their margherita pizzas. The round crust stretched thin and smoked crisp serves a square meal. The chili infused olive oil is a must, adding a complex heat lacking in ordinary chili pepper flakes. read more

It was a solid pizza, with fresh toppings and made on very good bread, although I wished that there were a few more toppings. This place seemed like a good restaurant. I would have been able to access it better had I gotten the opportunity to eat there. It seemed promising; the place was full, it was a bright open room, and it looked like it had a good atmosphere. My friend from Denver made reservations for 5 of us to eat here. When we arrived they said we were late for our reservation and they had a policy. After talking to them they realized that we did make it by our time. (We made reservations at 8:40 which is a little different) At any rate, we waited another 50 minutes before deciding to leave. As we left the group behind us was seated right away. I'm not sure what happened there. I'm giving a 1 star for not coming close to their reservation time. I'll give another star because the hostess was very nice and offered drinks while we waited. I have to review my previous review and send an apology after my last dining experience. Bar Dough made me feel like a complete hypocrite. From the moment we walked in to the end of our meal, I was blown away. Ambiance, food, and the hospitality were tremendous. Was able to grab two seats at the bar last Friday and was greeted by tremendous service from our bartender and the general manager Juan. These two seemed to go above and beyond to make sure our meal was desirable. Pretty sure that's just the level of service they bring to the table night in and night out. Kudos to them. -Caprese: Tomato escabeche set this dish a part, may have been the freshest tomatoes I've tasted in Colorado. This caprese is unlike any other you've tried. Order this! -Carne Crudo: The beautiful presentation was only matched by the taste. -Bucatini & 7X Ranch Meatballs: My mom is constantly on the hunt for tremendous bucatini, I've already made reservations for her trip this month because I know she will fall in love with Bar Dough's rendition. House made pasta done to perfection. -Pollo al Limone: The most divine dish I've had in Denver. I may request this as my death row last meal. Booked a reservation the following morning to bring my entire family when they visit. Not sure I'll be able to make it that long. read more

Hot and new is an understatement for Bar Dough, the perfect evening meal on a cold Denver winter's eve. The interior is sleek and modern, an upscale Italian eatery. No you will not find red, green and white flags anywhere or mosaics on the wall depicting a vineyard or gondola ride. Not that I mind the latter, but Bar Dough is a bit more upscale that a traditional Italian joint. Getting a table without a reservation was easy on a Friday night. It was also pretty early (before 7 pm) and the week after New Year's, when a lot of folks are still trying to commit to resolutions and the sun sets before 5 pm. Happy hour looks appealing, but my +1 and I were in it to win it in terms of ordering. We each tried the $40 tasting menu, which is served family style. Three courses of food served family style to be accurate. This included garlic bread, meatballs, arugula salad, pappardelle pasta, bucatini, scampi and lemon chicken. Granted, the portions were smaller but that was a good thing! There's no way two people could eat that much... we even took home leftovers that were just as good the next day. Tonight we put in an order for delivery, and the staff at Bar Dough called to let me know that they were having trouble with Door Dash and it was saying there were no drivers available, but we could still pick up our order if we wanted. We had a couple drinks so we declined the offer, so they said they'd give us a refund. Just a little bit later, I got a call from a Door Dash driver saying they were outside with my order! I called Bar Dough to let them know, and they said it was on the house because a driver ended up showing up right after they refunded me. I felt awful accepting a free meal from them considering the COVID circumstances hitting so many restaurants right now, so I wanted to at least come on here and say how AMAZING the food was! We got the spaghetti and meatballs family meal (comes with enough for 2, plus salad and garlic bread). The pasta was thick and fresh, and the garlic bread was insanely good. The family meal is a really great deal for 2 people. If you're looking for delicious, authentic pasta, try this place! I will definitely be ordering from them again. read more

Just AMAZING! I had heard a lot of good things so decided to make my way up for dinner a few nights ago while I had my best friend in town and we were NOT disappointed! From the funny and great host to our awesome server, the whole night was just perfect. We started off with the garlic bread and meatballs - both are a must. The server also brought a bowl of their pizza sauce to eat with the garlic bread as that was his preference and he was right on so I would recommend asking for it. There were three of us dining so we decided to share a few things and oh.my.god - the Gnochetti. To die for - and I'm not sure I've ever actually put that in a review lol. Cliche as it is, that is a true statement. It was basically like French Onion soup in pasta form - incredibly rich, cheesy and the short rib just fell apart it was so tender. That's a must do and I will return just for that dish! Our final dish was the Signore Bianco pizza - just wow. This is a white sauce pizza and while I was not quite sure I'd like it because I wasn't even sure what everything on it was lol, it was beyond good. The smell of the fennel caught me off-guard but only briefly - after the first bite I was sold! I literally recommend every dish I mentioned as a must if you dine here (and you SHOULD dine here)! It doesn't matter who I am. All that matters is this place. This is the only thing that matters in my life. My family is in shambles, so when I stepped into the loving arms of this restaurant I was hoping for a miracle. Well, let me tell you first, this place is a miracle embodied in pizza form. Not only pizza form, but meatball form, prawn form, toasted bread form and hospitable owner named 'Juan' form. With each bite of their four cheese pizza I forgot about all that troubled me so. My ex wife, GONE from memory after my first slice. My teenage son who huffs paint, a smudge in my imagination after those meatballs. After such a euphoric experience I had to ask my waiter to pinch me, I was sure it was a dream. But no, it was just a wonderful meal at my new favorite place in the entire world. Later that night I walked home and looked at the moon, I've never seen it look so beautiful. Maybe this life isn't so bad after all. read more

Absolutely excellent. Chef Carrie is such a great person and her restaurant reflects that. The space is really cool and inviting, the wine we drank was amazing and her food is just stellar. Got the bison crepinette with garlic bread (exactly what I was craving) and then the risotto, the special of the night which was squash capellini, and the lamb bolognese. DO NOT PASS UP THE BOLOGNESE. DON'T DO IT. I work in the industry (at a restaurant that shall remain nameless) and I honestly liked Bar Doughs pasta better. Derek, our server, brought us some complimentary house made limoncello at the end which was the perfect end to an awesome experience. Food was definitely unique!! Known for their "fancy toast" which is exactly that. A giant slice of toast with fancy toppings. So depending on what you order it can be hit or miss. Overall our group of 6 agreed that the toast was a bit tough. We struggled to slice off bites without dumping all the toppings. I know - super first world problem. But we are also spending a ridiculous amount of money on this one slice of fancy toast. I also tried the clam pizza for brunch which surprisingly blew me away. Super yummy. It very salty so make sure you orders tall beverage. Fried chicken was so delish it kinda ruined cheapo takeout chicken for me. Overall really satisfying for the taste buds. read more

Girl's night dinner and dranks took place at Bar Dough this past Friday. Friend and I had an 8:30 reservation, walked in, place was popping off. Crowded to the brim, 3 people deep at the bar, minimum 45 minute wait for the two girls who naively assumed they'd get a table. Highly advise you to call ahead to make a reservation. Ordered the octopus for the starter, half plate of pappardelle, and the commendatore (tongue twister) pizza. A+ for our server's octopus reco, charred and not chewy, a slightly sweet mention from the eggplant, pistachios for texture. Is there anything better than a plate of pappardelle in lamb bolognese? Al dente noodles, flavorful and hearty meat sauce to beat back the cold winter chills. Our tummies were regretfully full by the time we got to the pizza but the one slice that we each ate thoroughly satisfied our inner meat (and garlic/bad breath) lover. Our server was incredibly attentive and sported one of the most impressive and well groomed beards I've ever seen. Place is a little loud but no matter, business is good. Couples galore sprinkled around the space so I assume it's a popular date spot. Come share a few plates with an SO or a group of friends, Bar Dough guarantees a good night. read more

We were cautiously excited, but truly the food transported us back to Italy and we ended up talking through dinner about our trip and experiences...will definitely be back. Love it here! Every time I've been we've had great service and wonderful food. The breakfast pizza is my favorite for brunch followed closely by the eggs benedict. I'll say that every time I see someone order something else, I want to try that too. Everything looks so good! I've been for dinner as well. It's fun to sit along the back bar and watch them cook!
