Ordered the garlic bread, Margherita pizza, and Salsiccia pizza. Garlic Bread - best thing we ordered! Unlike other garlic bread I've had, they used focaccia. It was buttery, garlicky, and super soft. We also dipped it in their house-made chili oil - highly recommend! Margherita pizza - the pizza is super thin so it's one of those pizzas that you eat folding the slice in half. The crust was a little dense for me but I still enjoyed it. It was a good Margherita pizza. Salsiccia pizza - great flavors until you get a taste of the kale and the bitterness of the kale overpowers all the other flavors. Not a huge fan of olives but I liked these castelvetrano olives. Pizzas were good but I'd probably try their other flavors when I come back for their garlic bread. read more

A busy and and lively vibe at this Italian spot. I sat at the bar and had a pretty fun experience with the service. We went for dinner on a Thursday evening. Glad we had a reservation as there seemed to be a bit of a wait for a table for two. We started off with wine and beer as well as the focaccia garlic bread after we spotted several other tables ordering it, and we loved it. For entrees, I ordered the pappardelle and my boyfriend went with the Margherita pizza, both of which we enjoyed. The portions here aren't overwhelming- I felt like it was the perfect amount, but my boyfriend could have probably eaten another serving of garlic bread. Overall we had a very positive experience. My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday celebration recently. We had a reservation for a hut on the patio and were seated immediately after arriving by a friendly hostess. The hut was a nice little clear greenhouse with rope lighting in the ceiling and plenty of heat inside with a Bluetooth speaker and electric candle on the table. I noticed a little later the speaker was a bit dirty from some food residue. We opted for the meatballs as an appetizer, which were a little tough on the outside and undercooked inside. The sauce was very good. I ordered the Mafaldine fra Diavolo, a spicy pork pasta. The pasta was like very skinny lasagna noodles, and were cooked perfectly Al dente. The meat sauce was good but greasy. Towards the end a large pool of oil had accumulated at the bottom of the bowl. My girlfriend said her pasta was okay. We ordered cheesecake for dessert, which came with bits of sugar cookies and chopped quince. It was very small but tasted decent. read more

I really enjoyed the brunch here! They have really unique dishes and all the presentation of the dishes were so on point. We ordered these blackberry donut holes that had a cream cheese filling for our brunch starter. They were tasty but I wish there was more filling! It was delicious! The blackberry compote was fantastic. I wish there was more of that as well. I think the donut itself was a tad dry and touch too dense so it needed more of the filling and compote to balance it out. For the main dishes we ordered the avocado toast and the Sunday pizza. Both we're beautiful and so yummy!! The avocado toast had a bunch of super seeds on it and the brightness of the added citrus made it such a lovely flavor profile. I really enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes, they were bursting with flavor. I loved making the perfect bite by adding a little but of everything on this dish to each forkful. My man especially enjoyed this since I made him perfect bites hahaha. The Sunday pizza was so special! The fennel sausage was the perfect addition for breakfast on a pizza with a twist. I loved everything about it. This is a great place to eat outside. We decided to share everything family style! We started with the garlic bread and a margherita pizza. The garlic bread is unbelievable! So delicious! Next? Arugula salad, prosciutto e fungi pizza, cacio e pepe and bolo bianco pasta. That's a lot of choices! Both pizzas were really good, the prosciutto e fungi edged out the margherita as the table favorite. You can't go wrong with either! The cacio e pepe was tasty but a bit too oily. Bar Dough is consistently one of my favorite places to go with friends or pop in when I'm around LoHi. If you want to eat during a peak time, I highly recommend making a reservation. If it's just for a quick bite during happy hour often you can grab a bar or patio seat. Yesterday I went in for a glass of the cab franc (get the larger serving) and the meatballs. I didn't have any issues with how the meatballs were cooked as others have mentioned, and I found myself wishing I had a slice or two of bread to sop up that saucy goodness! My wife was downtown for the weekend and brought me home the diavolo pie which I was very happy with. It was a Neapolitan style with fennel sausage, red peppers, kalamata olives, and hunks of mozzarella cheese scattered on top. The sauce had a nice spice to it and had a super thin crust which didn't overwhelm the ingredients. We had the most amazing experience at Bar Dough this evening. I was celebrating a new job opportunity and booked the last high top spot on Open Table. As we arrived we were delighted to learn the hostess upgraded us to a private table. The decor is a feast for the eyes of ambient lighting, greenery, and as much flavor and texture as the dishes. My only criticism is there were so many patrons exuberantly enjoying themselves it was a little overwhelming at first. This was about 8pm, but it tapered off within about 45 minutes as the communal tables emptied. The entire wait staff were completely amazing. It was truly impressive to watch how they all worked in tandem to make sure our waters were full, plates were cleared and we were happy. Special shout out to our primary server, Jamie, who went above and beyond to make our night extra special with an amazing dessert spread and the perfect wine to pair that was within our budget. She was so awesome! The food itself was insane. An explosion of flavor and texture. The homemade pasta was out of this world. I got the cacio e Pepe and my husband got the buccatini. We shared an ensalata salad and garlic bread. We had to save the last few bites so we could savor it later. The olive oil gelato was unique and flavorful! Happenstance is a sweet word I associate with finding good stuff. To be more specific a restaurant/ bar with good food. The intended place to visit yesterday was closed and Bar Dough was just around the corner. The food. The staff. Decor and that ambience that is difficult to create is here. It's relaxing and also feels alive. The bartender connects with his customers and that's really good. The drinks are good. The food even better! We tried their happy hour food and drinks. Good & good! So we had the Margherita pizza. One whole order $6. Wood fired oven and came out pretty fast! Roni Roll $7. This was fun to eat. Crunchy shell and doughy inside. Meatballs at $2/each. Best airport food we've EVER had, and we've traveled the world! We'd never heard of Bar Dough before but when having a layover at the Denver airport, we decided to give it a try. Cool restaurant with a fun ambiance. We started off with wine and the pour was TINY. Barely filled up 1/3 of the glass and was still $16. We eat out at Italian restaurants frequently and don't get tiny pours this like this anywhere else. The Piada bread appetizer was good so no complaints there. For dinner we got the Bucatini and the Caramelle. The Caramelle was tasty but the smallest portion I've seen at any Italian restaurant I've been to in Denver. The Bucatini was basically just spaghetti with a fancy description and barely had any meat in it. All in all a fun restaurant but I won't be back because it was way overpriced for the small portions. I walked out of there $200 later still very hungry and not satisfied. I have had much better experiences at other Italian restaurants in Denver lately. read more

The food is superb here first things off. We have been here many times and have always enjoyed it and have had excellent service! This review and low rating is solely based on the service we experienced with our waiter Anthony. Unfortunately ANTHONY was VERY rude to us, he made us feel dumb first by asking us why we had not hear of both type of Negronis and then when I ordered food for my husband he and I he immediately told my husband "does she speak for you?" And then turned to our friends and asked them the same question. In no way was that a polite or appropriate comment, he never apologized and after taking our order he never again came to check on us, the rest of the staff was super nice, but Anthony was not. Finally I got to try Carrie's fancy toast! Unfortunately, I just read she has left Bar Dough to open her own restaurant in Boulder. Hopefully the food at Bar Dough doesn't change. The toast tasted like the best French onion soup I've ever had. The bread was crispy, the shredded beef and onions were perfect, and the cheese was the icing on the toast. The fancy toast was by far my favorite dish I ate on my entire trip. For dinner I shared the il Grande pizza and the pappardelle with short ribs. Both dishes were superb. My friend who I shared with loved the fresh pasta. To me the flavors were excellent and the pasta was good. It was just a little too al dente for me. The pizza was good that night, later that night, and just as good the next morning. As I said Carrie has moved on. I truly hope the next chef in line keeps the quality up. What a great restaurant! I loved the small, intimate vibe it gave off and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the roasted carrots under the salad section. It is not a salad (no greens) but it is amazing! I highly recommend ordering this. We also got the meatballs, which were also very good (not a meatball fan but these were the best I've had). My main dish was the bucatini. The pasta was cooked well, but the flavor compared to the other dishes my group ordered was a little lacking. My friend ordered the culurgiones, which are similar to ravioli but larger and look almost like an Asian potsticker. They were phenomenal; rich and cream. The only negative is there wasn't more! I wish I remembered the names of the rest of the dishes, but they were all good, including the side of garlic bread we ordered. Dessert was even better! I ordered the sponge cake, which is very unassuming in presentation, but is packed with flavor. I love a good cake (I make them) and can be very picking about them. This one definitely nailed it, being both moist and packed full of flavor. The mascarpone ice cream and cherries complimented it perfectly. I would come back here just for this dessert and a glass of wine. I also tried the blood orange tart, which was very good as well. I was very happy with my meal here and highly recommend this restaurant. I started following Bar Dough on Instagram when I saw a food influencer refer to their garlic bread as "life changing." Garlic bread is an entire food group for me so I had to check it out. I came here on a Thursday evening for girls night and we were seated inside right away although there was a short wait for the patio. We of course started out with the garlic bread and it absolutely lives up to the hype. It's ciabatta style and you can tell it's baked in copious amounts of olive oil because it's so crispy on the outside and light and airy in the middle. My friend ordered the cacio e Pepe and I ordered the campanelle. Their pastas are made in house daily and are so fresh and perfect. I preferred the cacio e Pepe over the campanelle but both were excellent. The server and drinks were also great but the garlic bread was definitely the hi-light. I would skip this place and look for another spot in the neighborhood. They charge $15 per person to secure a reservation and when we arrived, they only had room on the patio. It was a cold night and when we asked about the outdoor heaters, our waiter told us they were all broken, and they've been broken for a long time. Our waiter was flighty and was rarely seen throughout the meal. We had to wait for everything because he was so slow. We ordered drinks, pizza and pasta. The pizza had barely any toppings and was cold. The pasta was overcooked, and the sauce was so watery it washed out all the flavor. After we ate, the waiter suggested we move inside to sit at the bar, have another drink and warm up. (Our wives were shivering) We were basically ignored at the bar, so we decided to leave, which was a long process because the waiter was once again a ghost and took forever to bring us the bill. Originally visited BarDough in 2016 for dinner. According to my former review from that date, I wasn't super keen on my experience. After last night's visit I can further corroborate that sentiment and will not return and will recommend that no other patrons waste their money here. TLDR: Horrible service, incredibly expensive food for tiny portions with poor management. We made a reservation for 2 earlier in the week -- the night of, we had hoped to change it to 3 as a friend had come into town. Upon calling (more than an hour in advance), the folks on the phone made it seem virtually impossible to change the reservation party number or time. When we do arrive there are literally a baker's dozen of open tables that continue to remain open for the duration of our stay. Why so strict when there are tons of open tables? Once seated, I mistakenly spilled my cocktail in its entirety. I obviously am not looking to spill cocktails on purpose and was incredibly apologetic because 1. I'm paying for it 2. It's wasteful and 3. I want to actually drink it. The server made it pretty clear that I shouldn't accidentally spill the second cocktail though, if I don't want to be charged. This is a rude reminder-- who goes out of their way to spill drinks for fun? The menu item I ordered is the Cappelletti-- an entree pasta for $18. The menu item is not listed with any special notations however, upon receiving the entree it consisted of only FIVE pieces of pasta. This is NOT an exaggeration and you're able to see the portion size and the herbs for size, in the attached photo. I don't know about you but I am not open to spending $18 on only five pieces of pasta, even in Italy. This specific complaint was seen in a number of other reviews, after the fact and I wish I had seen them. Before consuming my itty bitty portion of food, I did request to speak to the manager whose solution to the small portion was that they take the pasta from me and allow me to choose something different. This effectively wastes the so called $18 worth of pasta as restaurants are not able to serve this pasta to another guest once it's been delivered to my table due to health code. The manager then says that the dish is a customer favorite and the reason for the small portion is due to the Taleggio cheese inside of the pasta and that if I choose to eat it, he will be required to charge me the $18. Great, I love that you use quality ingredients and it's a crowd fave however, it might be a good idea to advertise the extremely small portion for the price on the menu as I was expecting an adult sized entree for dinner. Because the only "solution" offered to me was to have them throw away the pasta, I was obliged to eat it without accommodation from the manager. What sort of asshole would say " yeah, why don't you simply throw this pasta away that is apparently super expensive so that I can order something else?" I ate my 5 pieces of pasta in a few bites and had to stop at a fast food restaurant on the way home. As a condolence, the server brought a comp-ed dessert. Nice gesture but I would have preferred to have my meal heavily discounted based on the portion of the food or simply to be given a normal sized meal. read more

the flavors here are on pointtt! i shared a diavolo nuovo w my dad & it was soo good. so many flavor profiles, but meshed so well together. the sauce was a lil spicy, perfectly complimented by the savory fennel sausage & pepperoni plus a bit of citrus & something slightly sweet. ahh, the most well balanced pizza ive ever had! my sister got the steak & egg sandwich. it was also delish & the flavors were just as complex (in a great way)! only reason i gave 4 stars is because the brunch menu was fairly limited, they didnt have a lot of options for my sis who doesnt eat pork. i will definitely be back! read more

Found this place on a random search for Italian restaurants with Gluten free pasta (sister has an intolerance). Our party ordered pasta, pizza, salad, and desserts. I will say that the food was very tasty and beautifully presented. Only thing we didn't like was the prices. With the exception of the pizzas, we found the menu to be overpriced for the amount of food that you actually get. They have a seasonal menu so things are always changing. For instance, it's peach season, so we got the Palisade Peach Pizza. It was great and worth checking out! But be forewarned, if you do go, dishes are priced between $20+ each and you may still be hungry afterwards... read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time when our friends came into town and it didn't disappoint. We had the cacio e pepe which was so flavorful, highly recommend. We also had the esoterra pizza which brought us back to our memories in Italy. We tried the grilled dandelion greens which I knew would be bitter but weren't for me, just personal preference but overall the food was phenomenal. I rated this 4 stars because our server wasn't very attentive. He was tending to the bar top and tables in the dining room so I think he just had a bit too much going on and couldn't be attentive to our table. Brunch at Bar Dough was out of this world. I fell in love with Spicy Clam pizza in Seattle a couple years ago and have been searching for something comparable here in Denver ever since.... I found it!! Seriously, if you love clams and you love pizza, you MUST try this combo! The Foie Gras French Toast was also quite delicious, though a very interesting combo. The mimosas had Prosecco and a splash of OJ, just how I like them. Our server was super sweet and very helpful. I will definitely be back for brunch, but I have to try dinner next! read more

We made a reservation that didn't go through, which was disappointing. Luckily, there were spots at the high top bar that we were able to sit at....although, they weren't the comfiest (barstools without backs - what you would expect). The atmosphere was upbeat and thriving. They were busy. We ordered the duck, which was out of this world. We also had a margarita pizza with gluten free crust that was very good. All the dishes that were coming out of the kitchen looked delicious! I'd definitely go again. However, you must go pretty early to find a parking spot and/or be prepared to walk. Parking is at a premium in that area. BUT, the place was packed and all those patrons found parking, we found parking, and so will you (just go early just in case)! read more

OK I went here for my nephews birthday in October and I've been craving the garlic bread like crazy since then. They have a great deal on a family meal takeout. It included two portions of pasta and red sauce. Three huge chicken chicken Parmesan. A salad and of course the garlic bread which I've already eaten so don't bother stopping by. They do have a service charge but definitely well worth the final cost of $42. I'll have plenty to freeze for meals in the future. I'm not ashamed to say I live a long the family meal is all for me! Feeling much like a hipster spot in San Francisco, this restaurant which combines it's pizza as well as other unique dishes such as the one I had make this a fantastic stop along your way in Denver Colorado. Bursting with heart pumping music and a very active kitchen the staff here are on top of everything. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by a very friendly waiter who took our drink order along with our appetizers. We had several appetizers including the Spanish octopus which was very good, however slightly dry. The dish served with various beans and ad excellent flavors. The second appetizer we had was the kale salad that was absolutely fantastic. I am not a fan of kale salad at all however my wife really likes kale and wanted to order the salad. The salad was absolutely fantastic and perfectly dressed with a vinaigrette-based dressing. For the main course I had the tagliatelle pasta which was made with black squid ink, garlic and a very light butter cream sauce. This dish was fantastic. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was just enough to buy and all the flavors together with every bite. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers and the dinner as well as the excellent service throughout the meal. The chef and owner from this restaurant was featured on top chef and she definitely lives up to the expectations. This will definitely be on my list of go back to places when visiting Colorado. 5 stars read more
