Found this hidden gem in Koreatown on a Tuesday night where they have a $10 drink special! Every drink we got was generous and they also use real fruits for the fruity cocktails. Would definitely come back to try their food and other specials!

A solid pocha to hang out before going out. Love the Parmesan truffle fries. They're so good.

Wandered into Ktown on a Saturday night. You know how that goes. We wanted some causal but fun eats, comforting. So we walked down some stairs and went into Bangia. We started with some wings! 10 piece chicken wings, half soy garlic, half sweet and spicy. Piping hot. Sauce was amazingly good. The garlic had lots garlic chunks that gave it an interesting texture. The spicy sauce was sticky in a good way haha. The deep fried whole squid was hot and fresh off the fryer. Cut at table side, served with two sauces. Tartar type sauce and soy based sauce (very similar to seafood pancake sauce). Tasted great!! The army stew was deceptively huge. Felt like there were two packs of noodles chilling in there. Lots of ingredients, various textures. From the soft rice cakes, to juicy sausage, soft luncheon meat slices and way more. Definitely worth getting for a bigger group. For our dessert, do some light customizing of your shaved ice. The Bangia Bimsul is a fun boozy dessert. Each bite comes with a little soju or makeolli, it's sweet and dangerous. We sat in the back area which can get really loud! Sit in the front area if you want a quieter experience.

Hands down AMAZEBALLS!! We've been to several Korean restaurants during our stay in the city and by far this is our BEST meal! This was our anniversary dinner and I'm so glad we booked a reservation here because it was perfect. It's located downstairs so you have to be on the lookout for signage. Recommend getting there early, joining the waitlist or making a reservation. They open at 6pm and the people start walking in. The place is big inside and has a great vibe. The menu is online and there are QR codes at the table for you to scan. They'll come and take your order and the food and drinks are out quickly. I ordered the Truffle Oil Chapaguri beef and hubs got the Bulgogi rice platter. Omgosh these were DELICIOUS! Best bulgogi and the Chapaguri beef was chared to perfection! The portion size of the Chapaguri is also large so it's definitely shareable. For drinks, we got the Lychee Makgeoli which was refreshing and quite tasty. Don't walk, run to this place to try it. You won't be disappointed. This place will definitely remain on my fav list.

This place slaps. We rolled in with a group of friends and immediately vibed with the cozy, slightly chaotic energy. It's a Korean late-night bar with dim lighting, walls packed with decor, and a vibe that practically begs you to stay way too long - basically the definition of a pocha. Huge shoutout to Alex for bringing us to this spot. We ordered and shared the strawberry soju bingsu, which was hands-down the highlight of the night. Sweet, icy, creamy, and spiked just enough (it honestly deserves its own fan club!!) The drinks came out fast, and the place had that perfect "decompress after a long day" feel.

Pocha in Ktown with the most delicious shaved ice and makgeoli! Would only come here for the drinks though, the food was just okay and pretty expensive. They have a cash discount as well as an ATM in store with no service fee! It can get busy on the weekend so it was hard to flag down our server to take our order. It is a great place to have a few drinks with your friends, has a very lively energy on the weekend.

This place has great vibes and I love the octopus here! The dishes are all so tasty and can't get enough of their desserts. The vibe here is so fun and it feels like an underground pub, def fun for date night or a group hangout!

I have tried to visit Bangia much later at night, and had to resort to a different Ktown spot because the wait would have been too long. A very casual spot for some great makgeolli varieties and anju! Worth a visit if you're in the area!

I came back here for some food, and it was delicious! My friends loved the food, the portions were good sizes, and everything was very flavorful. Staff was super friendly. Good vibes for food and drinks with friends!

I cannot believe how rude the staff is here. They make you feel rushed the ENTIRE time you are sitting there. Don't be a Pocha place if you don't want people to sit and talk for awhile??? And mind you we were only halfway into our food and drinks and they'd come around asking us if we're done, touch ALL our cups and plates at least once every 10minutes to check if it's empty. It felt like if we even stopped drinking / eating to talk for just a little bit they'd rush over and want us to hurry and finish. We really were not there past how long normal people stay at pocha places on a weekend night (there were other groups there who were still there even when we left). Im really not recommending this place to any of my friends sorry, the food also wasnt even great. There's better pocha around.

    Taylor K.

I really enjoyed this place! It's so fun and they offer great drink specials. The food is a bit pricy, but the portions are very large and you can definitely share. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, I loved the shaved ice drinks, and the soup was so delicious. I'd give this place a 4.5, just knocking off a bit for the price and the service was a bit slow. This place is very busy and packed, so I'd get there when they open or have a reservation.

    Ask the Community - Bangia

Is there shrimp paste or any other kind of shellfish in your kimchi?

What time does their kitchen close every night?

As of now, kitchen is closed at 12am from Sunday - Thursday. Kitchen closes at 2:30AM on Friday and Saturdays. These may change time to time, please visit our website for the most updated hours for last call and closing!

Is it possible for them to make a vegetarian army stew?

The simple answer is yes but it's not recommended. All the meat can be taken out but the broth flavor would not be the same without the meats. I'd recommend to just go with the Kimchi Stew (no meat option)!

Are there gluten free options on the menu?

Unfortunately, most dishes at Bangia currently have some sort of gluten in it. Sorry :(

Do they card everyone at the table if only a few are drinking?

They ask if you're drinking at the door and if you are they card you at the door.

I know yelp says it's not kid friendly, but can I bring a 9 year old here for food? (soy garlic wings) the website doesn't say it's 21+ to enter. made a reservation for 530pm

Yup. Saw two tables with kids (8-10 yr old I think) when we were there. We brought our baby (less than 1 year old) there too. We did go there early when it first opened around 5pm.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.

It's one of those spots that are simple/bar korean food forward with slight modernization/americanization and it might be best used as a place before going out to carb up, because the portions are large but nothing really stood out to me flavor-wise making me want to come back just to have the food on its own. The jajangmeyon was tasty although a little basic. The corn fritter was my favorite, as it was hefty and a little sweet with a nice crunch but didn't wow me either. The chicken and fries are what you would expect. I think this place is good if you are looking for volume/portion size but not necessarily great for a one on one date or dinner where the focus is the food. The frozen alcoholic drinks were tasty enough though I didn't get a buzz. This place has been around for a long time, and I typically love all of Hand Hospitality's creations, but can't say this one is my favorite. However, it has its own role in the community and definitely still think it's worth coming if you fit the demographic I described. The wait staff was nice and attentive, the vibes were good and the place was generally chic and modern; it was not hard to get a reservation.
