1. Durian smoothie was 99% ice and maaaybe 1% durian/sweetener. Worst one I've had compared to other Bambu locations. Basically threw away $9.30 for a regular sized smoothie that turned out to be crunchy and tasteless 2. The two male cashiers gave me and my partner dirty looks the whole time. Now I'm purely speculating, but it sure felt like a racially-based microaggression (been there countless times and this wasn't any different). If you have a prejudice against mixed race people, it shouldn't affect how you conduct business or treat your customers. For goodness' sake, one of us is Asian! Again, I could be totally off here but that is the feeling we both got. And it does not change the fact that our orders sucked. TL;DR not worth the steep prices, will definitely NOT be coming back. Been here numerous times with my friends and co-workers. Bambu makes the best Vietnamese che so refreshing, healthy and gluten free. Amazing drinks and you can adjust sweetness to your desire. My co-workers and I came by this afternoon and traffic was very light and parking was not a problem. I had my co-workers wait outside as I placed their orders. The two ladies working here were very attentive and polite both had their facial masks and following all the protocols. Their menu selection was very simple and direct so my co-workers had the Hazelnut Mocha blended 50% sweetness and the Green lantern made of pandan jelly, yellow mung bean and coconut juice and I had the Bambu favorite made of grass jelly, pandan jelly, red tapioca and coconut milk that was more of my energy booster so refreshing and healthy. All three drinks were $4.75 each very reasonable far cheaper than it's competitors. They do have pandan and smoothies of varies flavors. Would definitely be back and they do make the best Vietnamese che and iced coffee. Final note there's a possibly they may closed this shop or have it rename. read more

I ordered #22 coconut Che $5.50 and sure enough my drink tasted like fresh coconut water and had large pieces of young coconut meat. The work it took to open the young coconut and getting the meat out is worth $10. I will definitely come here from now on. I shouldn't add shave ice in my Che though, the sweetness of the coconut water is best left alone. I noticed other toppings were well made as well. The green tapioca strings were slightly warm which meant they're fresh. The lotus seeds were soft and pitted, a smaller variety but better tasting. The drinks look clean and appetizing. Other Bambu locations started out serving fresh ingredients but change over time. This place is still good and I hope they'll stay that way. I probably wouldn't order anything in the fridge. I know they do that to save time but I like my Che toppings scooped in the cup right before serving. The prices are reasonable with drinks starting at $4 something up to $5.50. The waffle is $4, a little overpriced. $3 would be more reasonable. The waffle is missing coconut flakes. If they add the coconut flakes then it's worth $4. read more

I only came here because I was eating close by and wanted my co-worker to try Vietnamese desserts. This is my 2nd time (and last) here and it's both been disappointing both times. I ordered 2 large avocado smash and they filled the shaved ice halfway down my cup. This is ridiculous! My avocado smash was so thick I asked if they can add coconut milk and they charged me an extra .50. So, basically I'm ordering a large drink which is $6.25 and yet it's a small size and I have to pay an additional .50 for coconut milk which they drizzled a little over the ice. Basically, I paid almost $7 for this garbage! They also filled most (75%) my drinks with the boba and jelly. Taste so disgusting! Talk about lame cheap business tactics. I will never come here again. I would drive to further locations if I want some Vietnamese desserts. I have never had any issues in the Hostetter/Lundy location. I'm never giving them my business anytime I'm near the area. You guys are so expensive, but use so many cheap ways to cut cost, and your drinks do not compare to other locations! Do not waste your time and money! I've heard so much of this place that I had to make a stop here. I was on my way home from cousin's house, then I had a craving of a milk tea hit me! Before even leaving my cousin's house, I was already Yelping a place near by. BAMBU was only a couple minutes away. As I departed from the house, I drove as fast as I could to BAMBU before they closed. When I got to the store, there were a few patrons dining in. The counter was free from lines, so I was able to order fairly quickly. I ended up ordering a large honey milk tea with grass jelly. I wanted to try something different besides my regular boba. My drink was conjured up within a couple minutes. When I got to my car I took my first sip. The milk tea tasted creamy and smooth. The honey gave the drink the sweetness it needed. I had the black milk tea and I asked for half sugar but the guy had said they don't make it too sweet. He was right, the drink was perfectly the right amount of sweetness. I strictly go to THIS location over the Hostetter one which is closer to my house because they have the GREEN PANDAN WAFFLE. This waffle is worth the extra drive!!! Growing up Vietnamese, che was the thing I look forwarded to the most during every family party but now I don't have to go to a family party to get it because I can go to BAMBU! I love dessert, after all I'm kind of a foodie fattie. Well, when my buddy mentioned a new Vietnamese dessert joint that he wanted to try in San Jose, I was game to give it a whirl after dinner. I decided to give their top dessert a try, an icy concoction with lychee, coconut, the green jelly thing, and basil seeds. I liked most of the dessert, but when it comes to basil seeds, I will never ask for them again. They're difficult to eat and really unpleasant going down. I was definitely not digging them and there was entirely too much of the stuff. Service here is outstanding and the girl behind the counter was amazingly friendly. It's a fairly cramped space but there is a table or two outside where your dog can hangout. I don't think I'd hangout much here but would come back to try a smoothie sometime. Excellent Vietnamese desserts! I love the tricolor che, the amount of coconut they add is perfect! The ice is soft but dense enough where it won't melt if you stir it around. The prices are reasonable for milk tea especially around the Bay Area, but that's probably because Bambu is more known for their dessert drinks. The taro milk tea is alright, it doesn't taste powdery like other places and their honey boba is really soft! The thai tea is more tea than milk, so if you're a fan of that order it but I wasn't too keen on it. The customer service is pretty good. They were really nice when my mom wanted to add some more coconut milk in her dessert. It's a Vietnamese owned store but they speak English fine! There are numerous locations in Milpitas and the surrounding areas - I'm sure I tried many - but this is definitely the best. One of my friends in San Jose (over 2 years ago) had mentioned she heard there 's a new dessert place that's receiving good reviews - it was Bambu. The drink is not weak or "thin". It is thick and tasty - not too sweet although the sweetness can be altered. The owner is a gracious host, eloquent and definitely a "people-person". The employees have been polite and efficient. I don't live far from this location but in Milpitas, nothing is far. You have no reason to consider my recommendation but if you're looking for a great smoothie and variety, this is a location not to overlook! read more

Close to my house, their desert drinks are all worth trying. My favorites are their strawberry yogurt slush and also their #2 desert. The only thing that is a bummer about this place and definitely made me not order all that I wanted is that they are CASH ONLY. It's strange that the Milpitas location is cash only, but their San Jose location is not. I understand that there are fees associated with allowing credit card purchases, but if I couldn't order multiple drinks many times because I only had $5 in my wallet, they are losing out. I came back in to ask if it can be remade but owner raises his voice and guarantees "there is not a hint of coffee" when all I can taste is coffee. I am a bit of a tapioca snob, so I'm picky whenever I add boba to any of my drinks/desserts anywhere, but the pearls here's are always on point whenever I'm here... not to hard, and not too soft where it's mushy.. but just right. Boba here is pretty good quality, but the main downside is that they DONT TAKE CARD! There also wasn't a sign outside giving that warning, which surprised my girlfriend and I, as other places we've been to really emphasize that if it's the case. Maybe this place is a little lazy. I ordered the taro milk tea with bob and egg pudding. Nice balance of flavors and texture - the taro wasn't overwhelming (as it has been for me in drinks past); boba was sweet, soft, and fresh, even though we got it at the end of the day. My girlfriend got the jasmine. She was a little surprised by its appearance as it had a yellow tinge to it, but otherwise thought it was really good. The inside of the place has some nice little tables. The place is kept clean and tidy. The woman at the register who took our order was a bit curt and not very friendly, but wasn't an issue. I have never written a yelp review before but I think other customers need to hear from my experience. My friends and I came to this Bambu location after dining from a nearby restaurant. I recommended this place since I have been to their other locations and I actually like their drinks. We arrived at around 9:30pm on Tuesday, November 18th, 30 minutes before it closed. It took us a while to order our drinks since there were many options to choose from. The associates were helping us too and recommended several drinks. I ended up getting the hot hazelnut mocha since my throat was still sore from being sick. One of the associates walked over to where I was sitting to give me my coffee, which was a nice gesture. I actually liked my coffee, it wasn't too bitter and it wasn't too sweet. Unfortunately, once I arrived back home, I noticed this strange sound in my cup whenever I tilted it. So I uncovered the cup and stirred the drink with a spoon. To my surprise, I lifted up a metal spring. I do not understand how a metal spring can just fall into my coffee without a barista noticing it. And it is about the size of a penny. I feel disgusted knowing that I had drunk nearly two-thirds of my drink with a spring inside. I only give one star based upon the customer service of the employees, but I will never come back to another Bambu again for the fear of having my drink contaminated. read more

It's not really a good sign when you walk into the store and you see the workers chillin' on the couch with their bare feet on the furniture waiting for customers to come in. There weren't any other customers in the store before us. I know it's the first week, or maybe second week of grand opening, but I would expect better. I am a loyal customer to their location on Hostetter, but wanted to come and support this new opening. I wished I wasn't greeted with such image. My friend got the Strawberry Milk Tea with Lychee and I got the Jasmine Milk Tea with pearls. The workers are still getting familiar with their systems and still pretty shy. Hopefully this changes later on. At first, I thought my drink was too sweet, but then I had a sip of my friends' and that was even sweeter. It's possibly just my preference, but the drinks were good. Parking SUCKS. They weren't busy, yet there were already lack of spaces, I can't imagine when they start to get busier, where will everyone park?
