Green Machine
Georgina N.

I love coming here so much. The service, ambiance and food are great. The green machine would literally be my death row meal. Their desserts and drinks are delicious. Fried rice is super yummy too, they use short grain which is bit different texturally but the flavor is very good! I make every guest, date, friend, family member, come here with me! Things I wouldn't order again: Avocado crispy rice: wayyy too salty in my opinion, inedible Crispy garlic tofu: dense, not air or light, not a fan of the sauce, takes a long time to chew Veggies tempura: I love the tempura in the role but I do find it too bland to order as an appetizer

Great place to eat! Came here in a group of 7 on a Friday night (7pm) and we were luckily enough to get seated within 10 min of showing up! Our waitress was so sweet and handled our big group like a pro. Food came out as it was ready, so expect everyone to get their dishes at different times. Even with such a large group, everything came out in a timely manner! Everything was delicious and everyone was very happy with their food. I will definitely be returning!

Green Machine Roll with Crab

It wasn't my first time coming to Bamboo for sushi, but we have a favorite roll now! The Green Machine sushi roll with crab in it is my favorite roll! The sauce it just unbeatable, I want to dip everything in it! It's a great option if you're looking for sushi while shopping at University Village!

Bamboo sushi is amazing! I had a great meal here after my shift at work nearby. I started with the cucumber sunomono which was so good it was an appetizer full of thinly sliced cucumbers in a sweet vinegar sauce. Then I got the Citrus Salmon crispy rice which was probably the best crispy rice I've had in Seattle so far! Also had a Sauvignon blanc which is my go-to My server, Lucy she was super friendly and helpful offering yummy suggestions! I'd love to go back again soon especially to try happy hour as everything went perfectly! Also side note the use toilet paper that is made from Bamboos which is great for our environment and went with the name lol!

I've loved Bamboo Sushi ever since their Portland location, where I used to go all the time. After moving to Seattle, I was so happy to see they opened one in U Village. This has easily become my go-to spot for sushi, especially because of their Green Machine roll. As a vegetarian, it's honestly hard to find really good vegetarian sushi options, but their Green Machine is absolutely delicious and one of my favorites. Highly recommend trying it if you visit.

We came here on a rainy weekend afternoon. We were quickly sat. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and attentive. The rolls were delicious. Everything comes out as it's ready so it's best to order as a group. The miso soup and hot green tea were perfect for a chilly, rainy day.

Sushi was expensive but yummy. Cocktails were a hit too. Service was good but wait time was about 45 mins on a Saturday afternoon. I'd come back for happy hour! We ordered: Green machine (add albacore): 5/5 Garden of Eden: 5/5 Rivers and streams: 5/5 Cocktail: the forager 5/5

Salmon Roll & Nigiri Scallop - IG: @datglobetrotterlife

Solid and I would come back. To be transparent, I've only gotten takeout from here a few times and have been here once for a Yelp Elite event, so I've never dined in here before. But, for the few times I placed an order and came to pick it up, the place was PACKED - like to the point of somewhat chaotic lol. The quality of the food items were pretty decent - notable ones that I've tried out are their salmon rolls, green machine rolls, nigiri scallop, and chicken karaage. With the salmon rolls and nigiri scallop, the quality of the seafood is fairly fresh. The green machine roll represents a creative take of trying to be 'healthy' with the tempura green bean and avocado ingredients. As for the karaage, it was a decently sized portion, and comes with a wedge of lemon and some tartar/mayo-like sauce. This particular location in U Village is VERY convenient. If you are waiting for a table, you can always go shop for yoga pants at Lululemon nearby or grab a quick drink at Ba Bar. So what's keeping me from giving this a place 5 stars? The prices are steep. I feel my Resy credit through my Amex Platinum credit card is the saving grace that keeps me coming back. Also, their happy hour hours are Mon-Fri 3pm-5pm, which ends way too early. If HH went until 6pm or 6:30pm, I could make it after work (but no way with 5pm).

Im sorry but the sushi here is terrible. It was so bad I barely ate. I felt bad for the kids because it was our daughter's birthday and we didn't say anything but later my husband and I were just shocked it stays in business. The quality at the grocery store is better. The spicy tuna looked like it came from a jar. I didn't touch the tuna nigiri because it was hard and dry on the edges. The best part was leaving. Good service. I don't understand how anyone returns.

Yikhwan D.

Great service and great food. We had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes which wasnt bad at all. I have tried a handful of different sushi/rolls from here and they are all fine. You just have to find what you like. Great vibes, really clean and modern. I would go again if i were in the area was craving sushi

Okay I love the green machine with salmon, the spicy edamame, and the crispy tofu!! One truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here - I love it so much. Everything is reasonably priced for Seattle sushi in my opinion. The service is always quick and friendly with strong recs from the waiters. I appreciated being seated quickly with the food arriving as it was prepared. Vibes were great as always.

Everything here, the food and ambience, just feels very clean and refreshing. The sushi is fresh, tastes delicious, and is traditional with a simple and modern spin. Friendly and attentive service, too! We got the Bamboo Dragon roll and the Friday the 13th roll, which was our favorite!! So much flavor in that little bite..and the tempura crunchies give it such a fun texture, it accentuates the flavors! We also got this aguachile dish that was so yummy!!! It had the perfect savory and citrus mix of flavors that was just refreshing. The karaage was also good; crunchy and juicy inside, seasoned well with a yummy dip! We would definitely come here again and try out more of their menu!

Came in on Friday for lunch and was seated right away. From the start, both the host and server were incredibly hospitable and friendly. The ambiance is nice- a chill yet upscale vibe that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Service was absolutely 10/10! Our shrimp tempura hand rolls took a bit longer than expected, but when the host checked in, he explained they had been prepared incorrectly and kindly gave us those rolls on the house. Little gestures like that really go a long way. Here's what we ordered: * 2 shrimp tempura hand rolls * 2 spicy tuna crispy rice * 1 citrus salmon crispy rice * 2 calamari (honestly, some of the best I've had in a long time!! recommend to get your own, you will not want to share lol) * 1 tuna poke * 1 order seared salmon nigiri This was the best sushi we've had in a while and definitely satisfied our craving. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is cuz I'm used to seeing a bit more fish on top of the crispy rice; it felt a little small. But overall, I'm very happy with the experience and will definitely be coming back!

Setto for 2-4.

Bamboo Sushi Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Bamboo Sushi

Is the Seattle location kid friendly?

It's a large place, some noise. Kids are welcomed, no kid activities but the location around has some fun things for kids to do.

Do they offer any options for lower carb rolls without rice? For example, some places use cucumber instead of rice in the rolls.

Yes, several options.

Super great, totally the highlight of our food trip…read more So many dishes we didn't expect. Service: great, our lovely person was willing to have a conversation about how much food we ordered, as we were unsure about how much to get for a party of 5 and traveling--leftovers isn't a viable option. I will say, there are way too many nice folks clearing and not enough coverage for the tables. So order and then don't expect them to return for a minute, but not an issue, just an observation. Food: FANTASTIC! Nice free edamame to start! From soup to sushi, super great--the tempura is on point--no basic dishes here, only the very best. Seriously, I love salmon roe, and this was the best I've had, better than Kashiba (and that's saying a lot, if from the same provider, I'm just an idiot), wow!!! The fish liver was a little miss for me, but you don't see it a lot, and glad to try. Rolls, generous and perfect. Grilled fish--omg, Nobu has nothing on this, and at least half the price maybe (don't quote on that), and super nice size. We needed two orders of the seafood dumplings! All scallop and shrimp (as I recall) no filler. We'll be back from Portland just for these, money! Atmosphere: it's loud, and I mean loud, but it's the thing there, intentional and more of a "we didn't expect it" not a ding at all, people are having a great time and a vibrant place. I will say, if I came here again, we'd book the tatami room for a little separation as we are a larger and older group. Would recommend to anyone and super great prices!! Not to give too much away, but, 5 people stuffed on 5-Star food and maybe a little tipsy for around 50 bucks a person--in these times, yes!!!!

*Reservations are highly recommended*…read more The lobby and waiting area have one large and one short bench. After being called in, you walk down a short hallway and get seated. We chose the counter seats after waiting for 40 minutes in the lobby and was told it may be another 30 min to get a table. However, I strongly advise against them unless you're planning a quick lunch. The seats are extremely uncomfortable, and people constantly walk past you. Food we ordered: * Crispy rice sampler: A-OK. The tuna is chopped and smothered in spicy mayo and masago * Ahi tuna poke: Recommended! * Ora king salmon sashimi: Decent, kind of fishy though * Filet mignon plate: A-OK but not very filling * Ponyo roll: A-OK * Umi house roll: Would not recommend * Ginger chicken plate: Very salty and does not come with rice The ambiance here is moody and dark, with multiple seating options including a bar, sushi bar, main area, and semi-private floor seating. The food was decent, and the service was fine. The turnaround from ordering to receiving the food was relatively quick, taking about 10-15 minutes. Considering the quality of the food I experienced, their happy hour might be more worthwhile. However, at regular prices, I don't think it's a good deal.

The food was as amazing. Not a place I could afford to come to too frequently, but it's such a treat! Since my wife and I love sushi and were flying back home to LA the following morning, I immediately reserved a table for us at the restaurant for that same evening. Sushi Kashiba is known for its omakase, or chef's choice dinner. However, we went with the set tasting menu called "Peak" since we're not fans of surprises. The Peak option included 14 pieces of nigiri sushi, a cup of salmon roe garnished with wasabi, a fried shrimp head, 2 maki rolls, a light sashimi salad, and miso soup. Additionally, we ordered the tempura set which came with shrimp and assorted vegetables. We came here with high expectations, and this place did not disappoint. Every piece of sushi was a work of art-fresh and perfectly prepared. I've never had toro, tamago, and eel this good. And I've been to some highly regarded sushi restaurants in LA. I even enjoyed the shrimp head. It was crunchy and incredibly delicious. This isn't your typical neighborhood sushi spot. It's a high-end establishment that serves nothing but the best the world has to offer. For that privilege, it's going to cost you. The damage for our meal was over $450. And that was without any alcohol. However, it was totally worth it. I would most definitely come back here again if I were to ever return to the Emerald City.

So I thought, "challenge accepted," and was in front of their doors in about 30 seconds. There was no one waiting and I was pretty shocked; it wasn't until 5:00 on the nose that other people walked up and got in line behind me, most without reservations. So if you're trying to do a walk-up, don't wait until 5:00 to get in line. Get there early. The owner was nice when I told her I didn't have a reservation and she said while all her tables were full, she had bar seating open if I was interested. I said yes, so I was seated in the Hannya Room (and happened to be wearing my Yakuza Majima sukajan with a hannya on the back) with a handful of other people (bar seating is very limited, maybe 12 seats tops, and the room is very narrow). The bartender was cool and offered to take our phones and take photos of the specials on the wall in the foyer so we all didn't have to walk back over there. I actually ended up getting one of the specials, the chicken katsu cutlet with beef curry. From the regular menu, I got a yaki onigiri and some gyoza (which are described as grandma's recipe and handmade), and from the bar I ordered the reggae punch cocktail (Iichiko saiten shochu, peach schnapps, and cold brew oolong tea). The regular menu is extensive, with a lot of comfort dishes and signature dishes I haven't seen elsewhere. Whether you want meat or seafood, there's something for everyone here. The meal was absolutely delicious. The only thing I didn't care for, unfortunately, was the yaki onigiri, because I felt the shoyu they used was just way too sweet. Yaki onigiri is one of my most favorite things on the planet, and Ippuku in Berkeley makes them perfectly. I was expecting the one at Maneki to be on that level, but I was disappointed. But other than that, the curry had great flavor and bit of a kick of heat, and wasn't skimpy on the beef. Lots of potato, too. The katsu was breaded and fried perfectly and the cutlet was pretty generously sized. The gyoza were great, not oily, each one stuffed with meat. I enjoyed the reggae punch and would order it again. I also ordered a glass of iced oolong, so I was feeling pretty refreshed on this warm afternoon with my two drinks. The bartender, who was handling both drinks and food service, was a nice guy with a good sense of humor. The owner also chatted with me on my way out and gave me a little history about why they decided to name the bar the Hannya Room, and some background on all the hannya masks on the wall in the bar. I'd love to come back here the next time I'm in Seattle, but especially to be able to dine in one of the tatami rooms. This was a great meal and it was awesome being able to support this important part of the local history of Seattle's Japantown.
