Actually such a bad experience. They were not kind when I came in didn't ask how I was or anything just "what can I get you" didn't even give me a sec to look at menu. On top of that I asked for a sample and he said I could only sample the pull pork or brisket not both which makes no senses so I ended up buying both and the brisket was old. Not worth $70 at all. Don't go.

Pretty good BBQ. Not the best I've had but still enjoyed the smoked meat. The ribs were the favorite overall, smoky flavor throughout and more tender than the other meats. The brisket and the turkey were a bit dry even though we got the fatty brisket. The coleslaw had a bit of spice in it and I wish I had the recipe. The potato salad had potential; I liked the dill flavoring but the vinegar was a bit overboard so overall not a win.

It was all right... maybe I was expecting more? From a seasoned competition Barbecue competitor! The meat was real good I had a pound of Brisket and a half pound of Turkey. The sauces were pretty good and complimented the meat! They were unique and not super sweet! The sides were not very good. The Mac was dry and lacked flavor. The slaw was a mess I added vinegar sauce to mine to make it palatable. The spot it cool and is reminiscent of a Bbq joint. The staff seems hospitable and helpful.

The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor that melted in my mouth with every bite. The chef clearly knows their way around a smoker! It was perfectly seasoned, not overly salty or dry like some places tend to serve. Each slice was a testament to culinary expertise and passion for barbecue. Love the "crust" on it. Hit the spot!

Pulled pork BBQ, ribs, brisket, smoked sausage, and the slaw.

As you walk in, you are greeted with the pleasant aroma of smoked BBQ. It's a strong start. I split some BBQ pork, brisket, ribs and a smoked sausage with two others in addition to getting some potato salad, mac & cheese, and cole slaw sides. The BBQ pork was just sadness on a tray. While it was cooked to the point where the connective tissue broke down to yield an easy to pull apart meat, it was a tad dry, and BLAND! It could benefit from a LOT more dry rub! What a shame, because both the brisket and ribs were tender, juicy, and rich in flavor! The ribs in particular were fantastic. They had a perfect level of char on them, and were fall off the bone! The sausage was also very good. Despite it falling apart easily, it was spicy, and very flavorful! The cole slaw was quite good, but nothing that stood out from the pack. The same goes for the potato salad, even though it was slightly acidic. The mac & cheese did stand out in that it was cooked perfectly: al dente! A lot of BBQ places tend to serve mushy and overcooked mac & cheese, but not Bam Bams! However, the mac & cheese could benefit from more pepper, spices, and a sharper cheese present in the cheese mix, as it was quite bland. I'd say the food is 4 stars overall in quality (better than the majority of BBQ places I have eaten at.), but Bam Bams gets 3 stars. Why? One reason: COST! It cost each of us $40! FORTY DOLLARS! That's 4-5 days of my groceries in 2024! That's more than what fine dining can cost! While it was enough food to fill each of us up, for that price point, I expect ALL of the food to represent perfection in the art of BBQ for me to give a 5 star rating! Bam Bams is not there yet. Despite a 3 star rating, I can recommend it as a one and done provided you just order meat.

3.5 Stars. I don't have barbecue a lot, but when I do I'm pretty picky about it. I'm not a fan of communal seating, but it worked. Also wasn't too keen on the way they served the food. You don't get your own plate, but instead get a tray with a sheet underneath with everybody's food on it. The pulled pork was my favorite from the whole meal. The mac and cheese was interesting. The cheese was more like a gravy and had crushed goldfish on top which gave it a better flavor. The barbecue sauces weren't the best I've had, but made the meats taste better.

I went here for the First time EVERYTHING THAT I had was very spicy I couldn't even eat it the only thing I could eat was the brisket and Coleslaw. The service was good the ambience was run down but hey if you like spicy food this place is worth it.

Now this place may not look like much, but trust me, it's lots. Lots of all kinds of yum. If you're looking to experience an evening of award winning meat sweats, Bam! As Brother Brigham said, "this is the right place." Why? Because there is so much swine on which to dine. If you're thinking about dressing up like a Kardashian going to the Grammies, just don't. This is a yoga legging, bubba bib overall type of place. It's where society's ordinary go to eat extra ordinary smoked delights, and then wipe their saucy fingers on their thighs. Don't worry, that's why stain remover was invented. So go. Order a couple Lbs of smoked Wilber. And don't forget the pint of pork and beans, and a sloppy creamy quart of Mac's and cheese. It's all good. And before you leave, a visit to the multi gender friendly bathroom is a "be sure not to miss" event. You'll thank me after the clean fingers, but you will walk out confused. (See pic) You'll ask, was that a wall, a door, or was it a faux door that is really a wall doing double duty as a toilet paper dispenser? Who's to say? It's these little design touches along with that southern highway rest stop potty patina that shouts "lift the lid and aim, the ladies got next."

Stopped in for a quick bite and ordered the sandwich combo which comes with a side and your choice of drink. Was shocked that it came out to just under $20. I had come from out of town (San Francisco and was expecting Orem Utah to be much cheaper but not the case). Food was fine. Kind of fun to have goldfish on your Mac. Brisket Sandwich was a little dry despite drowning it in BBQ sauce. I might have just been a little jaded right off the bat by the price and the fact that I ate it all and was still pretty hungry. Service and ambiance were fine. Would likely go somewhere else before coming back.

My husband and I were in Utah and he was adamant about coming back to bam bams. My brother in law used to recruit for BYU so we had it years back. I remembered it being good but nothing to write home about. This time the brisket was really good--tender and flavorful. The pulled pork was good but a bit on the dry side. I don't love having to rely on BBQ sauce to enhance the meat. The ribs were pretty good and definitely worth a try. As for the sides, they left a lot to be desired. The coleslaw was decent, but nothing special. The potato salad was probably the best of the three, though still not amazing. The mac and cheese, was trash. I mean I'd rather have Kraft than their Mac and cheese--soupy, bland, and just bad overall. If you're heading here, I'd recommend sticking to the meats, especially the brisket. The sides are pretty mediocre and could definitely use some improvement.

I came in specifically for the brisket and it was gorgeous! Nice fat juicy slices of heaven. The 2 guys behind the counter were awesome and really interactive. They helped me a lot. I love great bbq and this brisket is some of the best I've had in the nation. The crust had so much delicious flavor, beautiful thick TENDER slices of beef. If you are over in Orem you HAVE to come here. I'm definitely going back, maybe even tomorrow

The pulled pork sandwich was moist and seasoned great. We loved that the sauce was on the side, so you could control the amount yourself. Most BBQ sauce is too cloying, but this was not. However, the portions were too small for the price. The sides were good-the coleslaw was delicious. We'd come back again! read more

I tried the brisket, the pulled pork, and the turkey. Side of beans and complementary white bread. The prices are high per portion, as others have said. Which would be ok if it were excellent, and it's not. The pork was dry. And lacked flavor. The brisket was dry. And lacked flavor. The turkey was, well, smoked turkey i guess. It was less dry than the pork or beef, so that's good. But it wasn't so good that i want it again. It's possible that the dryness was due to showing up late in the day, but that's still a process error on their part. You can't hold meat at serving temperature all day and not expect it to dry out. Doesn't matter if the box you keep it in has a steam generator - that just means that you're drying your meat in a proofing box for some reason. The issue is that the heat causes the protein strands to twist together and squeeze out the juices. This has been true since cavemen were building fires on top of dead wildebeests and pulling off cooked meat with their bare hands, and will never change. And like i said, it still didn't taste like much. And beyond the "don't dry out your meat" advice, I don't feel like it's my responsibility to tell people how to cook or run a restaurant. There are three sauces, that i could tell. The bottles were not clearly labeled. There's the dark one, which is sugary and not particularly spicy. No heat to speak of. hint of spice i guess. There's the thick red one, which is sugary and a little spicy. Then there's the thin red one, which is like someone made a basic salsa and drained the liquid into a bottle. It's got some spice, not sweet, is very watery. The beans were alright but nothing about them was remarkable or particularly bbq-like. It was disappointing that there were not more sides available, like maybe a bread that didn't come from costco. A vegetable perhaps. Some mac & cheese would be nice. I might try it again but i won't suggest it. And i won't spend near as much next time. read more

Not impressed, especially considering the hype that this place gets. Had the brisket, it was good, but very dry. The sides are limited. On a positive note they do have apple beer. Overall not worth the price tag. Not the best place in the valley to have BBQ, that would be five star BBQ. read more

I tried twice to come here but they are always sold out and closed. Why would a restaurant cut off half of their profitability by not making enough to serve dinner? It seems a bit ridiculous they can't make more to serve dinner. I will never support a restaurant where in order to eat there I have to go for lunch. Who eats a heavy lunch these days. You have permanently lost my business. read more

No frills, just seriously good BBQ. I dove right into the beans which are simple, hearty, and flavorful beans like you only find in the Deep South and mountain west. From there, I made my way to the brisket sandwich - perhaps the second best I've had in my life behind Oklahoma joes in Kansas City! You can try it with either the sweet or vinegar-based tangy BBQ sauce (both are great, but I prefer the sweet), or just eat it plain. It's tender, juicy, and more than flavorful enough to stand on its own. I'm a BBQ person, and this is among the better places I've been in my life. Next time I go I'll have to try ribs (if they have them) or compare their pulled pork to savannah, Georgia's Wiley's championship BBQ. They might just hold up to it! read more

First off, this is another "barbeque" restaurant that doesn't ever cook meat with bbq sauce on it, meaning the meat doesn't absorb any of the bbq flavor. However, the meat is very well smoked and is very tender. It has a good flavor overall and I like that you can pick between lean and fatty pieces of brisket if you order that. The sides are terrible. They served me beans that were still raw. Couple that with paying a bit more than usual and I wasn't pleased. read more

Brisket was great, pulled pork food. Loved the sauces.... BamBam for the love of God please do something about your sides. The coleslaw is pretty decent but all the other sides are horrendous. Some quick simple fixes could get you a pretty decent Mac and cheese dish which is a MUST HAVE for any BBQ joint. Baked beans are marginal as is the potato salad. I think people have been saying this for years. Upgrade the sides and become a 'full service' bbq joint. As it is, for others I would recommend getting brisket, maybe pulled pork to go, then go to the grocery store to get any sides you may want, Sadly any local generic grocery store sides are better than what's offered at BamBams.... which is sad because the meat is great. read more

Hands down THE best barbecue in Utah. Who cares about the sides...you come here for the brisket. Absolutely THE best barbecue in Utah; better than Big Al's and Texas Roadkill; much better than Goodwood, Wallabys, and Smoking Apple, IMO. There are places in Texas that are better, but this is as good as it gets here. You want true Texas barbecue? This is it...no other place in Utah can hold a candle. read more

I love that I can get BBQ even close to what I'm used to in Texas. Pros: the brisket is very good. If you want to get the most flavor out of your meat, get the fattier cut. Seriously. The brisket is the only meat I've had and that's all I want. Cons: the sides aren't the best I've ever had, but then again, I don't go for the sides. Good flavors but the beans are a tad underdone every time I go. Secondly, the prices are a little bit too high. I read another review saying he went for dinner and they were sold out and refuses to go to a restaurant that doesn't serve dinner. Wow. If I remember correctly, bam bam smokes and cooks his meat In the mornings enough for the day. Once it's gone, it's gone. Don't believe the 1 star. NOT TRUE. If it's sold out, it means that people are coming to enjoy a different flavor than the below average tastes of Utah. Overall, Go try and enjoy!! It's a nice treat, and a fun atmosphere!!! read more

I have been here a couple of times with a variety of people. It's very hit-and-miss. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. The prices are high for such small portions. Although the actual meat is good, everything else is lacking. The establishment is often dirty, and the sides are not appetizing, and they are few. read more

After reading all the positive reviews, I was excited to finally try Bam Bam's yesterday. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to its reputation. I got the Beef Brisket Sandwich. The brisket wasn't bad. It was a little dry, but flavorful. My primary complaint is the bread. It must've been a four or five days old. It was so dry I had to smother the sandwich in BBQ sauce in order to get it down my gullet. Perhaps I visited on an off-day. I'll give Bam Bam's BBQ another shot in a few months. read more

Having spent several years in Texas, where most of y'all know that BBQ is a way of life and BBQ joints are on almost every corner. I can be a critic when it comes to "Authentic" BBQ. The brisket is spot on as is the pulled pork. The ribs are delicate and very flavorful. The Turkey is great, however, I think I'd rather they smoked a whole bird instead of a processed breast... That's just me. Some of the other things that I'd love to see them offer is fried okra, fried pickles, black berry and peach cobbler with Vanilla Blue-Bell Ice Cream and chocolate sheet cake... Now that's a complete BBQ experience for me and my family. read more

My friends and I visited Bam Bam's after hearing great things and craving some good barbecue. I had the beef brisket sandwich and it tasted great. However, unfortunately it gave me food poisoning. As someone with a very strong stomach, this is quite the feat. Though it tasted great going down, I'm certainly not going back. read more

Went there to get their delicious brisket. I'm rudely told they are sold out, mocked by a tall male employee for wanting to get pulled pork instead and end up with their inadequate ribs. I asked about the chopped beef but told it is no good by the blonde lady employee. Then as I am eating, i see the people behind me in line who went to the other counter enjoying brisket. As we go to complain, i see the blonde employee cutting up brisket meat she didn't want to sell me then watch her take a ton of it as she left for the night. Nice Thankfully the other counter with nice employees sent me away with some brisket they had after our complaint. So, if you are being treated rudely at one counter, politely excuse yourself and go to the other counter before you get abused and scammed. read more

Holy cow the BBQ is good at this place. I have been to a couple of dozen well know BBQ joints including Salt Lick and Oklahoma Joes. Those guys have nothing on this place. Juicy flavorful meats smoked to perfection and fantastic sides. The endless Mountain Dew is a great way to get my caffeine levels up without drinking coffee. Can you say loophole? :-) I can't wait to go back! read more

Guy with a pierced nose working at the front is not the best customer service guy. Didn't act like he wanted to be there. We stood there for almost 5 minutes with a line building behind us while we were ignored. The. He said are you ready to order? I said yeah we have been trying to and there are now 15 other people in line. Food was average for a bbq. Won't be coming back read more

Brisket & sauces are amazing, no liquor selection but I did expect that, being in Utah. I'm not saying it was this place that did it, but I ended up sick for 2 days, chugging water to rehydrate, if you catch my drift, about a day after eating here. read more

If possible, I would give this place 0 stars. They put goldfish on their mac and cheese. Like what the hell. Also, they didn't have any of the meats and everything was cold. Don't come here if you respect yourself. Being from Georgia and having had real BBQ, this place is a disgrace. read more

I've been to Texas a lot and I grew up eating STL BBQ a lot. I do enjoy the different flavored of Bam Bams and I think they're one of the best BBQ joints in Utah County. Great staff as well and they do a lot to support BYU Athletics. read more

Favorite place to eat in Provo. Always have a little sticker shock when I order, but then I start in on the ribs and money means nothing. Like that it has three big screens, and they have always been willing to find a game on another station. Also I can not over emphasize how cool it is that they have Pepsi Mix Drink machine. read more

We rolled by here toward the end of a 5,000 mile road trip. I had heard good things about it and it didn't disappoint. Best BBQ you are going to find outside of Texas. Everything we had was amazing. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Just make sure you're early because they sell out. read more

Every time I come to Orem/Provo I make my stop here. Its my BBQ mecca! Amazing brisket and ribs. None better... Seriously. Here's the key...its not at all healthy. So don't try to make it so by going lean meat. DON'T!! If you do, you'll regret it! The sides are nothing special but I like the potato salad. read more

I must have gone on an off night! I ordered a brisket sandwich and the roll was my favorite part. The brisket was a little dry, the beans were not cooked all the way through. The soda machine was out of the majority of flavors. I wish they would have green beans or corn as a side, everything is so heavy. Also not a fan of their payment system... It's tricky how you pretty much gave to put in a tip. read more

Surprisingly good BBQ! Surprising because I wouldn't go into any BBQ joint in Utah with high expectations, but this was great. Ordered brisket, turkey, and pulled pork and would love to eat any of them again. The "nachos" were tasty at first, but we found ourselves wanting an option for a smaller portion because when we were half way through it was just a soggy mess. Stick to the meats and you can't go wrong here! Large TVs are a nice bonus and I look forward to eating outside once the weather warms up. And yes, it's a bit pricey, but any decent BBQ is so quit complaining and consider yourself lucky to have a great BBQ place to enjoy. read more

I'm from Texas and I love BBQ! This place is very good. The ribs are the best ribs I have had since leaving my home state. The brisket and the mac and cheese is to die for.
