Just get the ribs, and put the original sauce on them, and be messy and happy. Brisket was good too. Heads up the fried pickles are salty, they were kind and made us a second batch with no added salt, but they were still strong. Avoid the hush puppies- they are super dense but have decent flavor if you are ok with dense dry cornmeal. The employees were very kind and helpful. Ooooh get yourself a loaded potato. Their creamy top mix is excellent cheesy bacon goodness that is not overwhelmed by the sour cream. We got the topping on the side which allowed us to have just the right amount. read more

First off this was the first time in this restaurant, only 1 other group in the entire restaurant! I was not impressed with the food, was very bland without their sauce. I had the brisket and I think it was the bottom on the tray nearly all was fat! The ribs were decent , the ambiance was nice. I didn't realize this was a chain store! I tried this BBQ at a food truck. It was $15 for a brisket sandwich with a bag of lays. The meat was in huge chunks of poor quality brisket with a sauce that tasted almost like syrup. Twice now I have been to R&R bbq at 2 different locations after 8:00 pm. Both locations are still open yet out of most of their meat items, mainly brisket and pork. Why don't you close at 7:00 pm on the weekends instead of staying open and asking your employees to tell customers about your very limited late evening menu. Or, figure out your food prep quantities. This is my fourth time giving it a chance and every single time they are out of basically everything. And it's not like I'm going in late at night. My wife and I made another trip to Provo Utah to see the kiddos and watch some March madness games. Like all visits, we try to go to a new location and this time we decided on barbecue. Wow! R&R barbecue is for real I split the Brisket nachos with my daughter, my wife had the brisket sandwich, my other daughter had chicken nachos, and my son-in-law had mac & cheese and brisket. I can't say enough good about my experience here tonight. I didn't know there was an R&R here, we were in the Mall for a Miss Utah event and saw it. It's good BBQ, I've always had good food at R&R. My wife even approves saying it's her favorite BBQ, aside from mine. If you don't want to read my long winded experience, here's what you need to know about the food. It was great. The nachos were awesome highly recommended. Ok now to the great experience. Trevor. He was amazing. He embodies what BBQ is all about. Good food and more importantly connecting with people. He was out talking with people and entertained my son wanting to look at all the police coins. My mom is a vegetarian, so I was supposed to order the brisket from her nachos on the side (so I could eat it ). In the haste of ordering I totally forgot to ask for it on the side. I was trying to get all the little pieces out of her nachos when Trevor asked what had happened. I told him that it was all good, I just forgot to ask for the meat on the side. He insisted we keep the nachos and he would bring out a new one with the meat on the side. THIS is customer service. It was totally my screw up but he said he wanted to make it right and didn't want me to have to pick through the nachos like that. It's all about taking care of people and making them feel at home. My son is obsessed with all things police and was intrigued by the wall of challenge coins. Trevor brought my son behind the counter and entertained him allowing him to hold pretty much every coin and badge on the wall. We will 100% be back in to this location specifically because of Trevors customer service and the great example he is to his team at R&R. read more

Pretty good BBQ and a phenomenal location/staff. This is a place that can accommodate your large group and since BBQ takes hours and hours of smoking the food comes out fast and delicious. There were a couple things I tried from R&R that were unbelievably delicious, and other things that were a huge let down. - The best thing by far was the brisket. It was the most tender and flavorful brisket I've ever had and I couldn't get enough of it! The turkey was also so incredible - I didn't realize that turkey could be that moist! On the opposite end of the spectrum, the baked beans really seemed like they were straight from a can, and the fried pickles were poorly coated by a crunchy batter that just didn't taste very good. The service was really quick, and most of the meats were absolutely amazing, but the sides were overall disappointing and the price for all of it is unreasonably high given that give and take of quality. read more

I found the service and atmosphere to be great, but the food to be just OK. It's a nice place, again with great service, but I'm spoiled by Memphis BBQ, which is on another level (especially when it comes to pork ribs). There are lots of choices, and it's easy to tailor your meal to your appetite. It's also easy to order too much food. I ordered the two-meat platter with brisket, sausage, potato salad, and hush puppies. I took one look at it and knew I would not be able to finish it. The portions are generous to say the least. You won't leave hungry. My plate could have been hotter. Half-way through, the meats were cold, and the brisket seemed a little dry. The sausage and the hush puppies were a bit spicy to my taste, and I'm not averse to spicy food. The potato salad was pretty generic, and I'd be surprised if they make it on site. Great potato salad is an art. Unfortunately, the grandmas and great grandmas who knew how to make it aren't with us anymore. The drill is you order at the counter, they give a number, and bring the food to your table. Soft drinks, napkins, and tableware are self-service from dispensers. Notably, each table is equipped with a variety of different style BBQ sauces. This is a nice touch. In addition to fountain soft drinks, beer is offered, also, if you are so inclined. I love myself some good barbecue! The only thing that makes me hesitant to eat it on the daily is the price per proportions. R&R has some screaming deals though, you just need to know what are you looking for. And I'm (well Yelp) is here to help! This one specifically is located in the Riverwoods near the mouth of the canyon in Provo. It's a little trickier to get to, as you park in a large parking lot and you need to walk a little ways outdoors through though restaurants and shops. I called in my order, and the person running the phone lines was not very awesome... However, once I got there the person running the takeout made my experience a lot better! I feel like I'm being a little vague, basically when I ordered on the phone the employee on the other line didn't really know/act like she knew what was going on or was able to answer my questions (on the app it says I could pick up my order at 10:50AM even though they open at 11, so I called to see if I could do that and she was a little short "we open at 11". It doesn't REALLY matter, I just don't love the discrepancy and the way she talked to me, whateves). It wasn't terrible though, and I have thick enough skin to not care, but it did leave me feeling a little "meh". But again, once I got into the restaurant to pick up my order the man at the takeout counter was extremely helpful and happy! Which honestly goes along way. He even offered me a sample of the brisket for the day... Who doesn't love a free bite of barbecue!? Lately I've been buying myself a pound of pulled pork, and I always get the side of beans! I've been bring that home and pile all of it onto my own homemade nachos complete with cheese and banana peppers and R&R's special barbecue sauce. If you're feeding a boatload of people though, you should go for the family pack! It comes with 3 pounds of pulled pork, a bag of one dozen dinner rolls, a quart of mashed potatoes and gravy, a pint of coleslaw, a bottle of bbq sauce, utensils, and plates. All for $45!!! TIPS & TRICKS: * Whatever you do, DONT FORGET TO CHECK IN ON YELP! Cash in on those half dozen free wings... They are heavenly and so worth it and my mouth is watering right now thinking about it! Went for dinner tonight. Tried the grilled pineapple pork sandwich. It comes with Cole slaw and pepper jack cheese with bbq sauce. That comes with one side. I ordered the baked beans. At your table you will find 4 different bbq sauces to try on anything you want. All 4 are great! My Sandwich was $11 and was very good. The beans also were decent. You order at a register so no one waits on you but the staff seemed nice enough. My chief complaints were the cleanliness of the place and the music. The floors in spots were sticky as was the table we sat at and the bbq sauce bottles on the table. Never fun to deal with sticky. That always makes it feel unclean. And there was a variety of music that played however during our dining two songs were heavy metal. That's a pretty unique genre that a fairly specific segment of customer May enjoy. It's definitely not typical dining fair to listen to. If you're not a metal fan Maybe avoid this or get takeout. read more

This place smells sooo good! For my first visit, I was exited to try a variety. They were out of turkey and chicken so I tried the three meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. I had hush puppies and chose sweet potato fries for my side. I also added a peach cobbler. The pulled pork was my favorite meat. The brisket was alright. It needed some sauce and the original sauce hit the spot. Not worth the up charge though. The sausage was good, but I wouldn't get it again. The hushpuppies were a little too dry. The sweet potatoes fries were great! I don't understand why I was charged an extra dollar for a side that was included... :-/ ?? The peach cobbler was tasty, but I would have preferred more "crust" with the peaches. It's a little pricey for the portions. The employees were very courteous and kept offering me extra sauce (why not? I am a sauce fanatic). Wife was feeling like the ribs, so we ordered the half rack of ribs with BBQ sauce, the hush puppies, and mashed potatoes. Sides were extremely delicious, and the ribs were tender and fell right off the bone. They were a little dry but imo that is what makes a good rib sometimes. Every time I go to R&R I am blown away. Started going there when they had only one place up in Salt Lake. So imagine my joy when I found them starting to spread out. The BBQ is really great. The last time I was there I had ribs, and they did not disappoint. Tender, juicy, even succulent. Perfectly cooked. I hate fall-off-the-bone because the meat is mushy (I'm a BBQ judge, I know what a good rib is). The meat on my ribs were about as perfect as you can get in a restaurant. I've tried many places, and R&R does them right. I must admit they told me they just pulled the ribs off the smoker, so that means they were fresh, not wrapped, and and not held in a warmer. I've had Brisket, Pulled Pork, Sausage, and even the Caveman. Love them! Sides are great, too. Mac-n-cheese, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, all excellent. My only complaint would be that the Hush Puppies are always a bit dry. Only one place in the country that I've found does them right, and that is Q-BBQ in Illinois. The brisket was over half fatty greasey gristle that couldn't be eaten. The other half was decent and their sauces were just alright. Food: caveman burger, fries, nachos with pork and baked beans, full wings (12 pieces), and peach cobbler. First, the fries are excellent! Then the caveman burger was really interesting. It has pulled pork, sausage, and cheese-it definitely isn't your regular burger. I only had half and I was already stuffed! Then we had a full order of wings-half buffalo and half BBQ. The buffalo sauce has a good punch and the BBQ sauce was very sweet. The nachos were good and we even added some baked beans to load them up. I learned that these nachos don't need that; they have plenty of toppings as is. Then to finish it off, we had peach cobbler. It was comforting and we loved the crunchy crusty bits. This is everything you want out of a barbeque style restaurant. Their meats are great! They have custom house sauces, great sides and paper towel rolls at each table to clean yourself up afterwards. They are also really good about getting your food quickly. I've been multiple times and loved it evertime. There portions are really good and there is just as much quality as there is quantity in their meal. They are a little more expensive than your average restaurant, your going to average about $14 a plate. However if you are a student you will only pay half that.
