With the Ardmore restaurant scene booming I've been excited to see a lot of new culinary experiences finally come to the Main Line area. So when I first heard about Bam Bam Kitchen coming to my former stomping ground I was excited not only for the prospect of enjoying Korean food, I was excited for it adding another BYOB into the mix! I give a 4 star for now since I only went during Ardmore Restaurant Week. But it gave a very suitable preview of exceptional service, quaint decor, and super delicious food. It was also cool that they had an open kitchen where you could watch the food prep, and buzzers you could use to contact the friendly servers. The four course deal was a perfect chance to try an ample amount of things on the menu, and it started with a delectable amount of vegetables like kimchi, scallion salad, and other offerings to share. Next up was an appetizer course, and it was hard to pass up on some amazing Korean fried chicken at the highest spice level possible! For the main course it was hard to pass up on any of their delectable Korean stir frys served on a hot plate, especially since the seafood option came with shrimp, calamari, scallops, and mussels. And it had the right level of delectable spices and flavor! Dessert was on the menu as well, and it was impossible to pass up on the green tea mochi for the perfect end note. Add in other traditional dishes like deep fried katsu, marinated prime rib galbi, bimbimbop served in a sizzling stone bowl, huge fried mandoo dumplings, and you have plenty of reasons to pay a visit! read more

Ordered through the phone just incase yelp takes a percentage of the profits. Food came quickly and the staff were friendly. The tofu soup was flavorful and delicious. Generous portions of tofu and mushroom. The stirfry was absolutely delicious. The pork was cooked well and the tofu added a complimentary texture difference. The sauce was sweet and covered all of the meat and vegetables the came with the stirfry. I want to try the spicy version next time! read more

I really enjoyed the familiar taste of Korean cuisine. I love there are always plenty of sides when you dine at a Korean restaurant. During our meal we shared the Kimichi Jjiage , Korean crispy wings and La Galbi all were very good. If only they had beer and wine! The main dining area was nicely but simply decorated with an open view of the kitchen. I really liked the 'call' button for service on the table. When you are ready to order press the 'order' button and the 'check' button when its time to pay. I found the portions more than fair!with a great taste and the service very good. Nothing was too salty, the beef was tender, the food was served timely and hot. I would highly recommend this restaurant as I will be returning soon. They are participating in Ardmore's Restaurant Week starting July 16, 2018. read more

We stop by here on a whim. First of all we didn't know anything about the area and it is SO cute. The whole little town is adorable. I was really in the mood for Korean which is the whole reason we came and they did not disappoint. Our waiter was very kind and thorough when explaining the menu and items to us. We had the boki which was soft and had a soothing flavor and consistency. My boyfriend got the jigae. He said it's the best Korean food he's ever had let alone the best jigae. Very good 10/10 service and food. We will be coming back to try more :) read more

I absolutely loooved everything we ordered! Plus the service was excellent and the little call button on the table was really fun. To start they brought out a plate with three mini appetizers and a little bit of the best kimchi I've ever had.i generally don't like kimchi, but this was delicious!! Then they brought out homemade miso soup. This was all because we ordered entrees. For our meal we ordered the Koran pancake to start and it came with delicious soy sauce. The pancake was huge and I could have eaten it for my whole meal. The leftovers made my coworkers all say, "that smells really good!" My hot rice bowl was sizzling when it got to the table,I got pork and I could have eaten that for the rest of my life and been happy for the rest of my life. My wife's mushrooms and tofu was equally well loved. I ate her leftovers and they were even better the next day! Jasmine tea was excellent and the total bill price was appropriate. The restaurant was casual and there were all sorts of different people in there. Absolutely crave-able food with great portion sizes, easily one of our new favorites!!!!! read more

After binge watching Ugly Delicious over the weekend with some co-workers, we decided to finally try Bam Bam kitchen. We called ahead to place three orders and were soon off. There is a parking lot next door and another one across the street. Both lots are metered and there is no front street parking. Once we arrived, we noticed a colorfully lit restaurant. Although we didn't eat there, we saw that each table had a button to call for service or the bill. It seemed interesting and I actually wish more places had that. We wanted the Korean Fried Chicken, because who doesn't like double fried chicken? I went with the sweet chili appetizer with six pieces and some Mandoo Soup. Once we ordered, one of the co-workers foolishly ordered some more kimchi fried rice. We had to wait slightly less than ten minutes for this. We already had out other food at that time and the smell was intoxicating. When we got back we had to dive in. The chicken wasn't crisp, but that was because we took it out. It's almost impossible to transport crispy wings. The flavor and size were on point. The wings came in a nice sized bucket. The Mandoo soup was hot! Not spicy, but this was sitting for a bit and temperature wise was so hot. The dumplings had nice flavor and I gave some away to the rest of my group. Fried rice was with our meal and some ban-chans too. One was pickled cucumber, some kimchi and one had something incredibly spicy in it. I wasn't ready for that. My face wasn't melting off, but I couldn't taste the food afterwards for a few minutes. Too bad I didn't have milk here. It was pretty comical. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. I said I would want to eat there next time. Maybe we can call in our order to save some time, since someone in our group can only be away for an hour with no flexibility. I will be back and I look forward to trying some more things and I'll get the wings again. Honestly, I'm a wing fan and the next time I want wings at work, I'm going here. Again, this wing wasn't crisp, I think from our own fault, but it was the best wing I've had since working in the Bryn Mawr area for over fifteen years. Friendly service too. Who can miss the glittering jewel that is the new Bam Bam Kitchen in Ardmore? Located on Lancaster Avenue, right by the Ardmore Music Hall, the restaurant positively glows with sparkle and color. The NMT, Panda and I went to Bam Bam for lunch one weekend afternoon, slightly after the 'main' lunch time. We were greeted warmly and seated in a sunny alcove. Our server actually offered water right away, which is a rare thing in restaurants these days. We ordered the Seafood Stone Bowl, Bulgolgi Stir Fry, seafood pancake and the Kan Phong (Deep Fried) shrimp. The seafood pancake was loaded with seafood and the guys loved it. The Stone Bowl was very good, very hot at first though and took a while to cool enough to eat. The rockstar item was the deep fried shrimp: the sauce was an amazing combo of sweet and spicy and savory, I'm not sure how they got all that in but it was YUM even without the shrimp (I am allergic). The bulgogi stir fry should really I think be called a bulgogi fajita presentation, as it arrived on a sizzling plate with caramelized onions, with white rice served on the side. It was nicely presented and tender, but this is the sole place where I think they fell short as I found the bulgogi to be rather bland. Overall, it was a good experience, with good food and good service. They need to think about putting pillows or cushion on the upright banquette seating as bare walls get hard on the back. Where I worry is in the pricing, especially for lunch. The three of us spent almost $80 on lunch, which is high for this area, and there are many places in Ardmore who serve equal or better quality food for less. My hope is that they will adjust to this locale and offer a lunch menu that will allow them to be competitive in a wonderful restaurant area. I may be back, but only when I want to 'splurge'. read more

I felt confident about placing a large order in advance. Bam Bam kitchen is my local go to spot when I'm craving Korean food. The soon Dubu with beef here is really delicious, and probably a big comfort food for many people. I really like the Bonchon that is provided with your meal as well. My favorite is the sweet pickled radish. I'd say this pickled radish here better than many that I have tried. My other very favorite dish from here is the chicken ginseng soup. The soup Is particularly satisfying during this time of year, and I love that the chicken stuffed with rice. The broth is really great, and if you love ginseng, you really should try the soup. I really like the Spicy rice cake with cheese as well. This is definitely a classic Korean street food, and I often crave it as well. I have never had a bad meal from Bam Bam. The quality and taste is always consistent. Overall this is one of my favorite places to eat in Ardmore. read more

I was in the area for a haircut and decided to take my new hair out for lunch. The young woman who greeted me was super sweet and attentive. They have really affordable lunch specials. I wanted to try a few things so I got the vegetable pajeon. Flavorful and crispy. I felt like it tasted a little too floury but I did enjoy it. I also ordered the tofu bibimbap and added a fried egg. Sooo. Gooood. The bonchon was all good too...sprouts, mushroom salad and pasta salad which unexpectedly had apples in it - I was surprised how much I liked the addition of the apples. The kimchi was delicious and the miso soup was good too. I could come in just for the banchan and be satisfied. All of the food came out so fast which is both awesome and overwhelming. Looking up and seeing so many plates on the table made me feel hella gluttonous. There are at least 3 parking lots within a block of this place. i had been to this restaurant in Ardmore 10+ times and it truly won a good review they deserve. I have enjoyed their food a lot. Its flavor is quite authentic. Frontdesk servant is very friendly. I also like their tabletop notification system. Instead of waiting and looking for waiter, just push the button and they will show up quickly. it's not a big space but very comfortable environment. I tried different cuisines there and so far I have not find something I don't like. Parking is behind or cross Ardmore Ave. Easy walking distance to Suburban Square after lunch to take train to go downtown. A good and reliable dinner place and the bubble tea cross the street after meal... I highly recommend this place. BamBam is so much better than DanDan which is lack of quality or service. read more

I have been bringing my family to this restaurant for over 2 years driving down from Delaware County. I had never encountered the RACIST owner before today. He stood at the counter refusing ro acknowledge my presence and it took his daughter to come over to serve me. When I came back in to pick up my food, I again was standing at the counter and he walked pass me to acknowledge the white customers who came in behind me. I am in love with Bam Bam Kitchen and I cannot wait to have an excuse to go back! I needed a lunch place pronto because I was getting hangry and I was in the area of Bam Bam Kitchen. I had this place bookmarked for a while so I was excited I finally had the opportunity to give it a whirl. I went during the lunch hour so plenty of seating, but I could see how this place could get packed during the dinner hour. Although I was not super hungry, my husband and I decided to get something extra to try knowing we could pack it to go. Here are some fab foods we tried: -Jeon - Korean savory pancake -Stone Bowl Bibimbop (one with mushroom and one with pork) For the savory pancake we asked our server what we should order. He was very knowledgeable and was able to give a description on how each were different. We went with the one he described as "crispy" compared to the other savory pancakes. For the stone bowl I would recommend the pork over the mushroom. The mushrooms were lacking a little bit of flavor but the pork was wonderful! The rest of the bowl was great so I was not overly disappointed about the mushrooms. This was the first meal I ever had where it continued to get hot and crispy as the meal went on, instead of getting colder. Excellent portions and excellent staff. The service was extremely friendly but since the restaurant was very busy (Saturday night) there was a mix up with one of our orders, which they apologized for by making it on the house. The food was good but not great. As people who have had authentic Korean food both in Korea and locally, we found the kimchi and dishes to be overly sweet, a bit bland, and relatively small servings for the higher prices.
