    Chirashi

Unfortunately, I wanted to love Qing Mu sooooooo much. I so badly wanted this to be my go-to spot for nearby sushi because there really isn't one close to me unless I want to drive into Media. The owners and staff are amazing and so friendly. They are extremely nice over the phone, upbeat and trying so hard to provide wonderful service and to simply make your day. This place has all the hallmarks of the most wonderful little Chinese/Japanese corner spot, family-owned, and small, where a repeat customer would eventually become known and their voice and face recognized immediately whenever they call or show up. All the photos and other reviews that steered me here had primed me for an amazing experience and my hopes were so high and I was ready to finally find THAT place that I could order from consistently for delicious, quality, fresh sushi, close-by.....but alas! This was sadly not the case. Everything I have said about the staff and the place are 100% outstanding, and maybe I was here on an off-day. Or maybe something was wrong or it was busy. I have no way of knowing. I will definitely try here again and change my opinion if I am nearby in the future. However, my order of chirashi was simply just one of the saddest and disappointing that I have ever had. The fish was not fresh, or at least not what I would consider fresh enough for sashimi cuts, there was barely any variety or color pop, no vegetable or greenery to offset, and I could not detect any rice dressing at all for the rice base for everything to sit on. Part of chirashi is the presentation, and while that's not a large part of the flavor, it's a large part of the impression. It did not look good, and very unfortunately, it did not taste great either. It was bland, extremely fishy (which I have no problem with), which denotes a lack of freshness, and had a slimy layer to it which it should not. I do feel like I should have ordered something else, like something in a previous photo or review, and that part is my mistake, but if it's an offered menu item, I would expect it to be just as good as their other dishes. The miso soup though, was great! Good flavor, tons of seaweed, and big soft chunks of tofu, which I love. Eventually, I will try Qing Mu again, possibly when the sushi itch strikes again and I don't feel like traveling far. Or possibly for traditional Chinese-American dishes. Who knows? I don't ever want my experience to end with a place that is so wonderful and inviting and caring about their customers to be such a disappointment when they obviously care so much about those they serve. If you are in the Havertown area, check them out, you may have a very different experience, but for now, definitely stay away from the chirashi.

Where have you been all my life?!? This is a real hidden gem. I've been on a sushi kick lately and this did not disappoint. I probably could have made it to the lunch special but i didn't chance it. Everything was included in the order wonderfully Momma is eating good tonight! Ps. Their kind note really made my day! ;)

On paper Qing Mu's rating didn't add up to me. From the outside it looks like a generic Chinese takeout place serving overpriced ($18) bento boxes. I was woefully wrong. I ordered the chicken and vegetable tempura bento box. The quality of the tempura was outstanding [crisp and not-so-oily exterior with well executed chicken (marinated and tenderized) and a perfectly cooked assortment of vegetables.] There was the delicious and large California Roll, the heaps of perfectly executed rice, copious amounts of packaged sauces for everything, salad, and miso soup. I don't think I've ever had such a kindly presented and large takeout order (except maybe when fine dining spots were doing it during the pandemic). Overall I strongly recommend Qing Mu.

I am so happy we came here. Not every place does Japanese/Chinese Ramen and sushi, let alone do all three correctly... Qing Mu does!! Almost didn't go in as it's smaller and we had family of 5, but the waitress (I think owner too) was so sweet to accommodate us and let us sit inside. She was so kind and willing to serve, she was great! The food was AWESOME! Not our go to place but I think it just became it!!! Lo mein wasn't just grease but had great flavor. My wife's bento box (dinner) was delicious and huge. Our kids fried rice wasn't the yellow crappy kind you find more often now but brown and like a better hibachi style, so good! My son got their Ramen which looked incredible and he loved, and we all got some sushi which was my favorite I've ever had outside of Teikoku. (Better then other local sushi spots IMO) I very very highly recommend getting food here. It is small, usually takeout, but they do have a table to allow sitting if you want and it was clean inside and welcoming. My girls enjoyed the cats and dogs on the TV. 5/5, love it! She even sent us home with a note in our bag, she is so sweet

Super friendly service and food is delicious. While in town for business. I wanted a sit down dinner. This place got great reviews. There were only two little tables, so I opted for takeout. The owner helped me pick a meal. When I got back to the room, I saw a nice hand written thank you note. That was a pleasant surprise! In addition, the food was fresh and the portion large. The next time I'm in town, I will absolutely go back. Good food good service good vibes!

Decent food for a great lunch deal. Plenty if vegetarian options for sushi rolls. Also the complimentary miso soup was larger than most restaurants. This restaurant does deliver their own food even when Grubhub is used. Delivery came within the time the app specified.

My wife twisted my arm and made me get dinner here. The things I'll do to maintain a happy marriage, I tell ya. But it wasn't a hard sell. I wanted to try it too. After picking it up and driving it home to Springfield, I can say this. A lot of it was quite good. The General Tso Chicken is a huge portion, one of the biggest I've ever seen for the price, and my taste of it was pretty good. My wife said it was very tasty but wasn't as spicy as she thought it would be. I agree there. Perhaps you can ask them to kick it up. My son had seconds and then thirds on the chicken and broccoli so that's a good sign. I tasted it and it's as good as anyone else's in this area. No complaints. Now my sushi order... the Rock and Roll has spicy tuna on top with tempura shrimp and avocado inside. That is the one I couldn't get enough of. The tuna had just enough kick to it. I could eat two of them and be happy. Which made it odd that the spicy tuna roll I also ordered had almost no spice to it. It tasted fine, it tasted fresh, but it fell a little short for me compared to others I've had. Call it decent but not great. I do agree that the folks behind the counter are very nice. I also agree the prices here are quite reasonable compared to others. They've mostly won me over. I'll know what to order next time.

Hand written note from the owner! The nicest extra touch to an already terrific meal.

Terrific dinner - they had all of the classics, and some really fun specialty sushi rolls. Even the names were hilarious - we got the "Hot Girl Roll", which was super light, delicious and very fresh. But the best part? They put a hand written note in our to-go order bag! What an amazing personal touch. I couldn't recommend Qing Mu more - if you are a Havertown local, definitely go give them a try.

Their General Tso's Chicken is good! Not the most tender i've ever had, but good crisp and sauce!

Really good, and they have a parking lot! General tso's chicken is the standard with which I judge most americanized asian restaurants. Their is damned good. Hot, crispy, tangy and sweet. Equal to sang kee quality. Their rice is equal to what you'd find elsewhere in the area. Their ramen is pretty good- the best you will get in the Delco suburbs. Will definitely be back!

Given a choice of going out for pho, Thai or sushi, my husband chose sushi. Having heard good…read morethings about Kuma -- primarily from me! -- he was curious about this small and popular restaurant located around the bend from Giant. My sashimi plate was as good as last time. Melt-in-your-mouth wonderfulness. T ordered the sushi/ sashimi combo. The only spicy salmon sushi I ever had was from Publix. I never detected any spiciness, but here there's no denying. It's hot, but not overly so. With eyes bigger than our stomachs, we shared a portion of vegetable pad thai. (At least half came home with us.). It was average, but there was some stalky vegetable that didn't seem digestible. Kuma's tables are close together. It's something to keep in mind if you have a loud voice or want privacy. We sat next to some yutz who was prattling on about pretty personal things. His timbre precluded any conversation at my table .... but at least we were amused while devouring our lunch.

Torn on this one. On the one hand, if I don't write a review, I get to keep this place my secret…read more On the other, the place is awesome and its always important to keep great places busy. So here I am trying to sum our many amazing experiences at Kuma into a short and helpful review. First, I never remember they are BYOB, so maybe grab a bottle of something on your way. Once here, I personally focus on sashimi, however, they chef rolls are solid. The sashimi for two will fill two individuals as they do not cheap out on the cuts (both size and quality). I mean you get good belly and not just the usual suspects. If you want a truly high end experience, go with the Omakase. You get the best of the sashimi platters plus better. Final food note, they have lunch specials 7 days a week. Everything else - well they earned the five star on food, quality, cleanliness, and service imo. Enjoy!
