We got: spicy tuna roll, OMG roll, pork dumplings, and rock shrimp aioli. All of this came to around $60. Spicy tuna roll: good, tasted the same as the dish does from any other basic sushi place. OMG roll: this was my favorite thing we got and only thing I really felt "worth it". Shrimp tempura, avocado, and mango inside. Topped with tuna. This was delicious and had a nice crunch to it. Pork dumplings: pretty solid Rock Shrimp Aioli: I can see from the yelp pictures this used to be only $10.95. We paid $15.95, which would be fine, I get prices go up overtime, but our portion was WAY smaller than the ones shown on yelp. Will attach pictures. We felt they really skimped on this one. We also felt the dish wasn't as cooked as it should be and more soggy than crispy. Overall, the food was generally ok but a bit basic and expensive. I definitely didn't think it was worth the price difference over Vic's (which I also find to be a bit basic but at least is pretty affordable). The portions were also a bit small, I still didn't feel totally full sharing $60 worth of takeout with just my husband . Maybe it's worth it for the nice atmosphere if you dine in here but I definitely didn't think it was worth it for takeout.

Ambience is a bit dim in here. It was a bit hard to converse with folks as a result, and frankly was starting to feel a little sleepy. Maybe that's just the mood that they're shooting for here, but I'd appreciate something a bit brighter and more friendly to groups and chatter. Overall, solid if you need sushi around here, but nothing to go out of your way for. Think there might be better options elsewhere that are more reasonably priced.

It seemed like most tables were ordering a sizzling plate of some kind, so if we return, I might want to try that instead.

This place has all the hallmarks of the most wonderful little Chinese/Japanese corner spot, family-owned, and small, where a repeat customer would eventually become known and their voice and face recognized immediately whenever they call or show up. All the photos and other reviews that steered me here had primed me for an amazing experience and my hopes were so high and I was ready to finally find THAT place that I could order from consistently for delicious, quality, fresh sushi, close-by.....but alas! This was sadly not the case. Everything I have said about the staff and the place are 100% outstanding, and maybe I was here on an off-day. Or maybe something was wrong or it was busy. I have no way of knowing. I will definitely try here again and change my opinion if I am nearby in the future. However, my order of chirashi was simply just one of the saddest and disappointing that I have ever had. The fish was not fresh, or at least not what I would consider fresh enough for sashimi cuts, there was barely any variety or color pop, no vegetable or greenery to offset, and I could not detect any rice dressing at all for the rice base for everything to sit on. Part of chirashi is the presentation, and while that's not a large part of the flavor, it's a large part of the impression. It did not look good, and very unfortunately, it did not taste great either. It was bland, extremely fishy (which I have no problem with), which denotes a lack of freshness, and had a slimy layer to it which it should not. I do feel like I should have ordered something else, like something in a previous photo or review, and that part is my mistake, but if it's an offered menu item, I would expect it to be just as good as their other dishes. The miso soup though, was great! Good flavor, tons of seaweed, and big soft chunks of tofu, which I love. Eventually, I will try Qing Mu again, possibly when the sushi itch strikes again and I don't feel like traveling far. Or possibly for traditional Chinese-American dishes. Who knows? I don't ever want my experience to end with a place that is so wonderful and inviting and caring about their customers to be such a disappointment when they obviously care so much about those they serve. If you are in the Havertown area, check them out, you may have a very different experience, but for now, definitely stay away from the chirashi.

You can find many of these items like the Daifuku and Custard buns at other stores and bakeries in Philly, but I have not found the Dorayaki pancakes anywhere else. The Dorayaki was so soft and airy! I couldn't pick a favorite because everything I buy from here is just delicious. If you are a fan of Asian snacks and sweets, you must check them out.
