a variety of sushi dishes on a wooden table

Suuuuuuper solid! If you're near on the main line I would definitely recommend swinging by to grab some sushi and enjoying it in a park. One of the only places around that offers Hwe Dup Bap which is easily one of my favorite Korean dishes. The dressing for the salad was ON POINT! I would buy bottles of it if I could. Maybe I can. The rice was cooked perfectly. The rolls were fun! I tried a fermented plum and mint roll, and that was surprisingly delicious. I didn't really know what to expect but it was great. I would absolutely recommend the Bryn Mawr roll and the Halloween roll! I also got miso soup, a side salad and some fried calamari. A little sad because by the time I got home some of the sushi was not as cold as I would've liked and the calamari was a little soft. I totally understand that's a time thing and a container thing. It was still really tasty. The inside of the restaurant was cute and homey. The staff was all super friendly and greeted me when I came in for my order a little early. I asked about the hats they wear because they're and they sold me one. I'm pretty excited to wear it around. TLDR: This place is really worth it. Great food. Great people. Affordable.

I was pleasantly surprised with this little hidden gem. Quality sushi with friendly staff in a comfortable setting. Food- Everything we had from salad to apps and sushi were fresh good quality and packed with flavor. Started with a couple house salads which had very fresh iceberg lettuce and a amazing peanut dressing that was so addictive. Fried calamari rings had perfect amount of breading and the calamari wasn't chewy at all. Sushi was very good fresh fish and creative specialty rolls no complaints whatsoever! Ambiance- Trying to impress a first date this is not your spot. Very clean comfortable setting but it is a small restaurant and has a relaxing setting. You won't be getting a fancy sushi boat here. There is nothing upscale about this place but it does serve high quality food.

Sushi Land, a suburban BYOB, serves sushi and other kinds of Japanese cuisine - we shared a bowl of Agedashi tofu which was interesting. It's a clean, modest-sized venue that can handle about 40 diners. The decor is simple and appropriately Japanese-themed. While interaction with our servers was kept to a minimum, service was friendly when we dealt with them. A few of us dined here this past weekend. I went for the Villanova roll ($8.50), made of spicy tuna, crunch, unagi, and tobiko goodness, and the Cliff House roll ($9.50), with spicy crabmeat, shrimp tempura, salmon, avocado, and tobiko. Both rolls were pleasantly fresh, with a crispy consistency that was fun to bite into, and I loved their tangy, mildly spicy flavors. (Our server told us the chef made the rolls extra attractive because he saw me taking photos!) We all had sushi rolls, and all enjoyed them. Don't feel like driving downtown for Zento's sushilicious creations? Sushi Land will quell any suburbanite's sushi urges, and for a reasonable amount of money. Worth a try!

Ika ring

Sushi Land is a nice little sushi place on the main line. The space is quaint and the staff is friendly. My friend and I came back to the area to visit the college we graduated from and had to go back to Sushiland for nostalgia sake. We split ika ring (fried squid) and chicken tempura appetizers. The tempura batter is very light, my friend thought it needed more seasoning but I liked the simplicity of the dishes. My friend got a bento box with goyza which she thought was delicious and a California roll with cream cheese added (per her request). I ordered the Eagle Roll which was honestly the reason why we came back after all these years. Its a very simple roll - a California roll with salmon on top and lemon slices. So simple but so good! I've yet to see it on any other menu at a sushi restaurant. I definitely recommend it. The only downside was that the sushi rolls were made way before the appetizers were ready so they were sitting at the sushi making station waiting for us to be ready for them. You know because the sushi is made at a little counter in the dining room, which is a fun thing to watch. Since the lemon was sitting so long it was very strong but still good.

They've recently upped their prices at this place for sure. I used to come here all the time and then after moving away and coming back to visit I was disappointed to see that some of my favorite rolls were more expensive than I left them. This place is definitely out dated, but the food itself is pretty good. I ordered the summer lover roll. I also love that they have plenty of options for vegetarian rolls Incase you don't want the raw fish. This visit in particular I was disappointed with how long the food took the come out. The sushi we ordered did not need to be cooked and the restaurant was not crowded but it still took a little over 20 minutes to get our food. I will probably still come back to this place because it is slightly cheaper than surrounding restaurants and the sushi always hits the spot. Pro tip - it's BYOB so bring your favorite bottle of wine!

Spider roll, Jessica roll, George roll, pink lady roll

Perfect local sushi spot. They have a great selection of rolls and everything tasted really fresh. I loved their green salad dressing. It wasn't the standard ginger dressing - instead it is creamy and peanuty. Great spot for a casual dinner or for take out.

a plate of sushi and chopsticks

I just got off work today and I was craving sushi, I have a regular place I go to that has amazing fresh sushi that is such of quality but I'm so disheartened from this sushi place. The sushi was lacking flavor and was just not fresh tasting. It was really disappointing especially after spending $30. The best thing I got was the kani salad and it wasn't even all that. The best thing about this place is the main lady she is sweet and very caring and nice. When I walked in the place was empty and hot and I was hoping the food would not resemble but it did. Won't be eating here again sadly

Miso soup

Hey what should I say, this place is in the middle of Bryn Mawr, BYOB and always quite packed. Prices are not so cheap especially for average supermarket sushi and no atmosphere. But service is fun and once in a while ok. I had the sashimi platter that comes with a miso soup and a green house salad; all Ok and quite priced for 21$. No need to praise it but also no need to give a bad rating; it is just ok so three stars

Green tea tempura ice cream

Sushi Land is your typical cheap sushi joint, really only suitable for college kids looking to eat on a budget. I would not come again. Our party of 5 was seated immediately. Staff was very friendly. I got the chirashi bowl -- white tuna was discolored and tasted strange; salmon was good; tuna didn't blow my mind. Overall, not impressed and it didn't hit the spot. I just felt "meh" and even gross after I finished. I liked their miso soup and salad with delicious sesame dressing though. I also tried the green tea tempura ice cream, which was fine but not mind-blowing. I love green tea ice cream, but I found the tempura too chewy and not crispy enough.

Sushi lands food was very tasty. The ambiance is transitionally a Japanese restaurant. The family friendly service they have is very cozy.

I so badly wanted this to be my go-to spot…read morefor nearby sushi because there really isn't one close to me unless I want to drive into Media. The owners and staff are amazing and so friendly. They are extremely nice over the phone, upbeat and trying so hard to provide wonderful service and to simply make your day. This place has all the hallmarks of the most wonderful little Chinese/Japanese corner spot, family-owned, and small, where a repeat customer would eventually become known and their voice and face recognized immediately whenever they call or show up. All the photos and other reviews that steered me here had primed me for an amazing experience and my hopes were so high and I was ready to finally find THAT place that I could order from consistently for delicious, quality, fresh sushi, close-by.....but alas! This was sadly not the case. Everything I have said about the staff and the place are 100% outstanding, and maybe I was here on an off-day. Or maybe something was wrong or it was busy. I have no way of knowing. I will definitely try here again and change my opinion if I am nearby in the future. However, my order of chirashi was simply just one of the saddest and disappointing that I have ever had. The fish was not fresh, or at least not what I would consider fresh enough for sashimi cuts, there was barely any variety or color pop, no vegetable or greenery to offset, and I could not detect any rice dressing at all for the rice base for everything to sit on. Part of chirashi is the presentation, and while that's not a large part of the flavor, it's a large part of the impression. It did not look good, and very unfortunately, it did not taste great either. It was bland, extremely fishy (which I have no problem with), which denotes a lack of freshness, and had a slimy layer to it which it should not. I do feel like I should have ordered something else, like something in a previous photo or review, and that part is my mistake, but if it's an offered menu item, I would expect it to be just as good as their other dishes. The miso soup though, was great! Good flavor, tons of seaweed, and big soft chunks of tofu, which I love. Eventually, I will try Qing Mu again, possibly when the sushi itch strikes again and I don't feel like traveling far. Or possibly for traditional Chinese-American dishes. Who knows? I don't ever want my experience to end with a place that is so wonderful and inviting and caring about their customers to be such a disappointment when they obviously care so much about those they serve. If you are in the Havertown area, check them out, you may have a very different experience, but for now, definitely stay away from the chirashi.
