Shumai ( 10) - yummy and great price

So happy Vic's is now part of my H-town foodie list. Great tasting sushi as a whole is hit or miss in -H-town. No we don't have the craft and authenticity of Nobu or Morimotos but those places are special treats. Like everything you eat - everyone had their own tastes. The three roll special seems to be on many menus - Vic's rolls are my fave! not too big and not too small- the filling in each roll is generous with just enough rice for each bite. The fish tastes fresh and the veggies crunch- avocado ripened. 24 rolls for $14.95 What a bargain! Shumai - 10 pieces - most likely frozen but great deal for a shareable appetizer Easy to order online and was ready on time!

Never received my online order. Had to wait 15 20 minutes to be prepared. Please fix your system. I got a parking ticket.

Best sushi in the area. Service was prompt. My friend and I came on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy. It's very cozy inside.

They are extremely nice over the phone, upbeat and trying so hard to provide wonderful service and to simply make your day. This place has all the hallmarks of the most wonderful little Chinese/Japanese corner spot, family-owned, and small, where a repeat customer would eventually become known and their voice and face recognized immediately whenever they call or show up. All the photos and other reviews that steered me here had primed me for an amazing experience and my hopes were so high and I was ready to finally find THAT place that I could order from consistently for delicious, quality, fresh sushi, close-by.....but alas! This was sadly not the case. Everything I have said about the staff and the place are 100% outstanding, and maybe I was here on an off-day. Or maybe something was wrong or it was busy. I have no way of knowing. I will definitely try here again and change my opinion if I am nearby in the future. However, my order of chirashi was simply just one of the saddest and disappointing that I have ever had. The fish was not fresh, or at least not what I would consider fresh enough for sashimi cuts, there was barely any variety or color pop, no vegetable or greenery to offset, and I could not detect any rice dressing at all for the rice base for everything to sit on. Part of chirashi is the presentation, and while that's not a large part of the flavor, it's a large part of the impression. It did not look good, and very unfortunately, it did not taste great either. It was bland, extremely fishy (which I have no problem with), which denotes a lack of freshness, and had a slimy layer to it which it should not. I do feel like I should have ordered something else, like something in a previous photo or review, and that part is my mistake, but if it's an offered menu item, I would expect it to be just as good as their other dishes. The miso soup though, was great! Good flavor, tons of seaweed, and big soft chunks of tofu, which I love. Eventually, I will try Qing Mu again, possibly when the sushi itch strikes again and I don't feel like traveling far. Or possibly for traditional Chinese-American dishes. Who knows? I don't ever want my experience to end with a place that is so wonderful and inviting and caring about their customers to be such a disappointment when they obviously care so much about those they serve. If you are in the Havertown area, check them out, you may have a very different experience, but for now, definitely stay away from the chirashi.

The Big Mama is very tasty and probably my favorite option but it's so hard to choose! This option contains seaweed, sushi rice with vinegar, sesame seeds, 2pcs shrimp tempura, and spicy crab topped with 8pcs shrimp shumai, spicy mayo, and special sauce. The dumpling and sushi combination makes this option very filling! The sushi is very large and the dumplings are about half the size. The flavor of the rice is so good, it really sets the sushi off. I'll definitely get this option again. The spicy salmon was also delicious. It contains seaweed, sushi rice with vinegar, sesame seeds, spicy salmon and cucumber topped with seaweed salad. The seaweed option on top was my favorite. It added such a refreshing flavor. I usually just get seaweed salad on the side but I'll try more seaweed sushi combinations. And lastly, I bought a California Roll with seaweed, sushi rice with vinegar, imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado. That was good too!

I enjoyed catching food in my mouth, the onion volcano, and the scorching blaze at the beginning of the meal. Our chef, Jess, was full of energy and made my day! My little soda pop was so re-FRE-shing and completely quenched my thirst with every drop I drank up. The restaurant was busy due to the holiday, but the staff managed everything well and kept the buffet running smoothly. The buffet offered a wide variety of options, especially for seafood lovers. We really enjoyed the crab legs, which were refilled frequently and tasted fresh. The shrimp dishes--including fried shrimp and garlic shrimp--were flavorful and well cooked. There was also a good selection of fish, mussels, clams, and seafood stir-fry, which made the seafood section the highlight of the meal. In addition to seafood, Ichiban had plenty of Asian and American-style dishes. The hibachi grill was popular, allowing you to choose fresh ingredients like chicken, beef, shrimp, and vegetables cooked right in front of you. Sushi lovers will appreciate the sushi and sashimi selection, which included rolls, nigiri, and fresh fish options. The Chinese classics such as General Tso's chicken, lo mein, fried rice, and dumplings were tasty and comforting. Dessert options included cakes, cookies, fruit, and ice cream, which were perfect for ending the meal. Overall, the food quality, variety, and festive atmosphere made our New Year's Day visit enjoyable. Ichiban Seafood Buffet is a solid choice if you're looking for variety, generous portions, and a satisfying buffet experience. We would definitely visit again, especially for special occasions.
