If you are looking for fantastic ramen and Japanese curry with amazing service, look no further and go to Yamazaki. The restaurant is small however it gives a very chill and low key vibe and the staff are very friendly. We ordered croquettes that were served with a side of dipping sauce, mayu ramen and a side of mini curry rice. Everything was on point and the ramen broth was full of flavors and very rich. Nothing more satisfying on a winter night than a warm bowl of Ramen and good company. You'll find both at Yamazaki Ramen located right down the street from Villanova. A lovely establishment full of impressive art works and tasty reasonably priced food. Haven't tried Shumai before so it was a nice appetizer. For my main I went with the Tan Tan. While I did enjoy the food here before, I do not appreciate the stance they took with their business and I will NOT be frequenting this establishment again. TLDR: pretty good ramen, excellent customer service! Will be returning :) came here with a friend right before a movie to grab a quick meal. They were completely full, had tons of takeout orders to fulfill, and only had one waiter for the whole restaurant. It took us almost an hour to get our food, and when it finally arrived we only had about 25 minutes until the movie started, so we asked our waiter for the check at the same time. He apologized profusely and then gave us 50% off our entire bill. We ended up making the movie after eating the fastest meal of our lives. The waiter was one of the kindest waitstaff I've had at any restaurant despite being clearly overworked and overwhelmed. The ramen itself was good - definitely the best ramen I've had in or near Philly and on par with the ramen I'm used to in cities with larger Asian populations. A relatively new, solid alternative to Terakawa Ramen in Chinatown. Previously, Terakawa was my only go-to ramen place. Staff was very polite/sharp, which is a plus. We got the Karaage Chicken and Takoyaki as appetizers, as I usually get that at Terakawa. They both were tasty, though the Takoyaki could have been bigger/puffier. My family member enjoyed the Yamazaki Special they ordered, so no complaints there. I also liked the Tokyo Tendo ramen I got. Broth had enough flavor, and the char siu was rather good. We would have liked the char siu to be more tender/melt-in-your-mouth, but it's still above average. The char-siu had sufficient flavor infused. We did not order Tempura shrimp, and I think it's because of the lower pricing, but we saw the Tempura to be on the small side. And I see this small Tempura on the online menu pics too. I would not suggest ordering Tempura, unless you're ok with lower priced/smaller shrimp. read more

While passing through the area I stopped here with a group of coworkers, needing to get some food with sustenance. There is no street parking, it's best if you use the nearby lot and pay the meter. I didn't realize how new the restaurant is until the waitress told me they have only been open a week. The place looks good, everything is ready for business. We sat by the front window at the largest table seating six. It got a little warm there for some of us with the sun and spicy ramen. I started with some edamami, then miso ramen and stayed pretty cool. It had a nice savory flavor. The sprouts and mushrooms gave it a nice crunch and the pork cuts were soft as the noodles. Some of us were new to this type of food and felt a little put off by the coloration of the soft boiled eggs but others picked them up with their chopsticks and enjoyed them very much. I think it was a moment we will all look back on, and remember with fondness, as a high point in our travels through this part of the country. This is the spice that Bryn Mawr that it needed. I've gone here a couple of times and have had the black garlic (mayu) and the spicy ramen before. I think the black garlic or mayu was better than the spicy ramen. The mayu had a more complex flavor that I've never had before, while the spicy ramen was delicious but nothing extremely novel. I'm excited to try other things on the menu! The side additions are awesome, there's a hand cranked sesame seed grinder and fried garlic (?) to put on your food on the table. It's not too big and can fit maybe 7-8 tables from what I remember but it's super cozy and the art on the wall is super nice. My shoyu ramen was filling and flavorful, but as I slowly started to finish my ramen, I realized that the broth was super salty and unbearable to finish. I wasn't aware that changing the pork on the shoyu ramen to chicken would be an extra $2 cost because the waiter didn't inform me. That would've been nice to know :) The chicken was average and dry. Also, I didn't know that there would be an extra transaction fee which surprised me because I never saw that before. My friend said that her chicken curry was average and basic. The restaurant was quite packed in the evening and had a nice cozy vibe. I highly recommend going to Terakawa Ramen as an alternative to this spot.
