Well, I never actually got to eat there. I was staying at the Holiday Inn, and Ballybunion is the restaurant that shares a parking lot. I was trying to order to go. I tried ordering for 3 hours, but got a busy signal every time I tried to call. Not a good business practice. You just lost a customer who will be staying frequently at the hotel next to you. Ballybunion .... what a funny weird name for a restaurant! This restaurant is located inside the Holiday Inn in Dublin. It's open for breakfast at 6am till 10am on weekdays and open till 11am on weekends. Then they close till dinner at 5pm. There is no lunch service here. It really basically just serves those staying at the hotel here as you don't have to drive anywhere for dinner or breakfast. It seems geared to the business traveler. The ambiance is not the best, just sort of utilitarian in a hotel. There is a full bar if you need that. I was here for breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet with an omelet and waffle making station, hot foods as well as cold cereals, fresh fruit, toasted muffins and breads, along with juices and coffee. The price is around $12-14 I think. I was able to get a free voucher from the front desk for my breakfast, so the price was right there. Just ask (real nice) if you're staying here at the hotel, good chance you'll get free breakfast. The buffet is way better than the free breakfasts you get a Holiday Inn Expresses that I frequent. The eggs are "real" eggs. The sausage and bacon is a higher quality as well. Most anyone will be satisfied with the breakfast served here, juice and coffee included. All you can eat too! Dinner is basically salads, burgers, some steaks and fried foods. Actually not bad what they do offer. I had a burger here once and it was actually decent and came with fries. You only eat dinner here if you're too tired or lazy to go out and drive somewhere, though there is an OutBack Steakhouse next door, but I think I might pick this place over that! You can put the tab on your hotel room if you're staying here. I'd say overall, better than most dedicated small hotel restaurants. read more

The food and bartender Paola were great - only reason I can't give more than 3 stars was the horrible ambience!! We were at the bar - behind us they were SO disruptive setting up for an event tomorrow!! When they started slamming down the dance floor tiles, I started losing it! It was so freaking loud!! It was like getting hit in the back of the head! I asked them to stop slamming them down and either they didn't care or couldn't understand English. We left as soon as we could get the check. Paola was very nice and friendly! Jalapeño poppers were inconsistent - 2 were way too spicy but 2 were good. The Baja chicken and chicken apple sesame salads were great! Food was excellent, but the cocktails brought it down. We had the Cajun gumbo pasta and the rib eye steak. The stars are definitely for the food. Steak was cooked perfect and the pasta had just enough spices. As for the drinks, don't order anything special. Only order cocktails off the menu. If you ask for a Sex on the Beach, you will be wasting your money. It was like flavored water. Service was great! We wouldn't go back to eat dinner because the drinks were terrible. read more

For a hotel restaurant, it's much better than I expected. This bartenders are super nice. Aaron and Natalie are very nice and were lots of fun to talk to. The food was delicious and drinks were awesome too. There's a vast selection on the menu, so pretty much anyone can find something. And it's away from the hotel lobby, so you really don't know you're in a hotel. You don't have to stay at the hotel to eat/drink here. I recommend stopping by and giving it a try. read more

I was surprised. For a hotel restaurant, the menu was adequately diverse. The kids menu had many options. Got them the grilled chicken and vegetables. The vegetable was steamed broccoli and rather large amount. The French fries were disappointing. But the fish was lightly battered and tarter sauce was good. The low rating is based on the ambiance. You feel like you're in an old coffee shop. Assuming your coffee shop had no windows. As soon as you walk in you wonder why you weren't more imaginative. Having said that, the rib steak was as good as i would have eaten across the street at Outback. The burger was good, the fries were very good, pasta was good and service was attentive. Drinks were just okay. Clearly one ounce pours, so felt like i wasn't really getting a solid drink. Then again, drinks are twice the price in L.A. but if you're drinking here, stick to the basics. read more

The chicken wings were hot but had no meat, like there were microwaved. The lettuce and greens were warm, not refrigerated. The dressing was salty. I went for breakfast after reading the reviews expecting the best breakfast I ever had. With the exception of the omelet (which was very good) and the fresh fruit , I was reminded of many hotel breakfasts which are included as part of the hotel stay. The scrambled eggs came from a carton. The square hash browns came out of the freezer. If I were staying at the hotel I would eat there and be grateful. But being from the area I would not go out of my way to eat breakfast here. I would choose another local restaurant. read more

I spend half my year living in this Holiday Inn. Its a close walk to BART for those trips to The City or a ball game. Amakara Sushi is just one block away if your in to eating bait, but you won't have to venture from the property if you want one of the best rib eye steaks for miles. The Ballybunion Bar & Grill is truly a hidden gem. It's got a good happy hour, Paola and Rosa dish up the best service in town. Spent a week at this hotel. The breakfast buffet is really exceptional. Bacon is crispy. Omelette station great. Coffee and orange juice is there as soon as you hit your seat! The fruit is amazing - best pineapple and strawberries I've ever eaten. Yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, even really great bread. The staff is super friendly: Alex, Valente, Nitcha, Nilda and Sonia. Breakfast review: staff wonderful. Breakfast menu typical. Had an omelette which I could have said was good if it wasn't for the processed cheese slices on the top. It was loaded with veggies and meat. Potatoes were the biggest and best surprise. They were crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. A nice texture and flavor. I typically never eat potatoes when I go out but am glad I forgot to ask them to leave them off the plate! read more

I've eaten at the Ballybunion a couple times and plan to go back many more. I think this is one of the best local gems still unknown in the area. Every time I've been there, no matter what I order the food is fresh. I'm not a huge burger guy, but their burgers are amazing and I can put everything I want on them! I like jalapenos, sauteed mushrooms and crumbled blue cheese. I've had their ribs, steaks, salmon and darby grilled chicken sandwich and have been amazed by the quality of food. Planning on returning with my girlfriend for dinner in the next month or two. Def recommend. read more
